I’m preparing to start my treatment cycle in a month or so and thought it might be helpful to start up a thread for anyone heading for FET soon.

This will be my first FET so I’m nervous but also feeling hopeful having gone through a fair amount of testing and treatment. Think I’m about as prepared as I’ll ever be!

Current cycle finally got going two days ago after a bit of a delay and I’ve decided to use it to focus on eating well and getting into the right headspace.

Anyone at a similar stage and want some company?

So sorry to hear that. Hope you're OK xx

Hopeful199 · 05/09/2022 12:19

Oh @Saltisford…. the letters no-one wants to write.

I'm so sorry to hear it hasn’t worked. It is the absolute worst feeling…. Sending so many hugs your way whilst you process x

SarahC1985 · 05/09/2022 13:11

Hi all, hope it's ok for me to join? Had my FET on 30th. The clinic told me to test on 11th which seems like a lifetime away! Good luck everyone

MyEasterEggs · 06/09/2022 00:46

So sorry @Saltisford. Appreciate you may need a little time to process but what are the next steps for you?

@SarahC1985 wishing you lots of luck for the 11th. Are you private?

@MyEasterEggs no, NHS. First treatment I hyperstimed so they cancelled my cycle. This is my first FET. What about you?

SarahC1985 · 06/09/2022 01:12

Has anyone else taken time off work? I'm off at the min since my transfer (my job is very stressful). Also, what's the earliest you can/should test? I was told 12dp5dt but was hoping to do it a few days earlier

MariaMc1 · 06/09/2022 06:30

Hi everyone,
I had a FET last Friday , it’s my first one and already going crazy with symptom spotting.

@SarahC1985 I was told 11dp5dt but nurse then said if it’s negative test again 3 days later. Seems to vary with all clinics as to when they tell you to test. I’m not sure what the earliest you can test is but I have seen threads on here where people have a BFP at 8dpt but I think I’m going to try and wait.

With my first non medicated FET I tested form day 5 ha got my bfp on day 7. Good luck to you such a hard week waiting isn't it

SarahC1985 · 06/09/2022 09:15

Thanks all, I'm just thinking practically. My testing date is Sunday and I'm meant to be back at work Monday so just wanted to mentally prepare myself! If it's negative, I might need a little more time off. I suppose I can tell them on Sunday if it comes down to if. When is everyone testing?

SarahC1985 · 06/09/2022 11:38

I caved and tested. I'm 7dp5dt and I did it on a whim just 5 mins ago so not FMU.... I see a line. Am I dreaming?

Welcome @MariaMc1!

@SarahC1985 definitely not dreaming! Gentle congratulations and wishing you all the best for a happy and healthy journey ahead. Is this your first pregnancy? 💛

First FET for me too. And I’m planning to reduce my workload during my cycle.

Congratulations that's a lovely little line. So happy for you.

SarahC1985 · 06/09/2022 18:48

@MyEasterEggs sorry, I've been in so many of these threads throughout the years that I forgot to introduce myself properly!

I have 2 children - 15 and 9. I changed careers in 2017 and we decided to wait to try for our 3rd until I finished that so we've been trying for this one since September 2017. Diagnosed with unexplained infertility (never had problems previously). Had EC in April which ended in OHSS and this is my first frozen transfer. I've never seen 2 lines in this whole time so I was really surprised today. I wish I didn't test so early because of course I don't believe it/have convinced myself it's a false pos or chemical preg but I'll test again on Friday when I'll be 10dp5dt and take it from there. What is your background? When does everything happen for you?

MyEasterEggs · 06/09/2022 21:26

@SarahC1985 I have DD who is 8. Been TTC again since 2016. I lost my DS at 16 weeks then had five further miscarriages over three years. After a long break this is my first attempt at IVF. Our one and only shot at it so we were pleased to get three embryos. Done so much testing and treatment and lost so many years to secondary infertility that it’s almost a comfort to know this will all be over within the next year, one way or another! My FET will be in approx four weeks I think…hard to say as just waiting for cycle to start!

OP posts:
SarahC1985 · 06/09/2022 21:43

@MyEasterEggs I feel the same. This is our last try. We have 6 embryos left but I can't keep doing this to myself. It's so horrible.

I'm so sorry you've had so many losses. I wish you every success with this FET. I found the experience completely fine, it was very quick and not painful at all. Does your DD know you've been trying? We did end up telling our kids because they saw me at my absolute worst some months.

MyEasterEggs · 07/09/2022 00:13

@SarahC1985 she’s aware, yeah, as I had to be in London on a few occasions for testing and treatment. My next trip will be at least 10 days.

I’ve found it helpful to share because the topic of babies comes up from time to time and I want her to understand that families come in all shapes and sizes, and to know that even if things don’t work out that we tried. It’s such a sensitive thing to navigate but I think we’ve managed it!

Keep us posted on progress and appointments 🙂

@MyEasterEggs that's amazing that you've been able to communicate so well with her. I totally agree. I think children need to learn that actually this process can be very hard and gruelling and it helps them feel included in it all. My DD is 15 and she's been so supportive of me

SarahC1985 · 07/09/2022 00:22

@Pepsipoo thank you so much x

SarahC1985 · 07/09/2022 08:47

Took another test this morning as I lay awake last night convinced it was a chemical. I've never had 2 lines on a FRER! I I implore all of you go wait and rest and don't test early. It hasn't made me feel any more positive at all, in fact, it's making me doubt it so much now!

Hopeful199 · 07/09/2022 09:03

Ahh @SarahC1985 that looks like a lovely line! Really hopeful this is the one for you!

comforting to hear about your age gaps too…. My kids are 7 and nearly 10 and felt so distressed about such a huge gap. (I too have been trying for a third for nearly 5 years) I had an early loss last year and felt it was all for the best….. fast forward 6 months and couldn’t let it go so here we are doing IVF.

I have had 3 failed transfers so far so hoping my meat emby is golden!

Keeping everything crossed for you ⭐️

Hopeful199 · 07/09/2022 09:04

*last (not meat 😳)

SarahC1985 · 07/09/2022 09:05

@Hopeful199 I always worried about the age gap but I knew I'd kick myself if I didn't try. Plus my kids are super supportive and involved which has been lovely.

I'm so sorry for your loss. It really puts things in perspective. Sometimes you don't realise you want something until it's ripped away from you. Good luck with your journey. When is everything happening for you?

SarahC1985 · 07/09/2022 09:06

@Hopeful199 meat embryo lol damn autocorrect!

SarahC1985 · 07/09/2022 10:28

@Saltisford @Pepsipoo have you tested yet?

Happy to share my symptoms if anyone wants them? Sometimes it can cause stress so won't post unless you'd like me to. Definitely noticed some clear signs now looking back on it but it's hard to know what's a symptom of meds and what is pregnancy?
