Hey everyone.
So I’m just getting ready to start my second round of ICSI after suffering a MMC last Aug.
I have 2 more weeks of Norethisterone before I await the important bleed and then start my injections, yippee!

I was so chilled when I received my protocol and now I’m getting a little nervous as I know what’s to come. Unfortunately none of the embryos from our last round were high enough quality to freeze so we are starting from scratch. I’m preying for higher quality this time but I guess that’s out of our hands.

I wanted to start a thread as I know how helpful it was on my first round and it’s nice to know your not alone in what can seem like a very isolating process ❤️

I’ll join you! I’m on my first cycle but have been delayed a bit, I’m convinced pregnacare stopped my cycle so I’ve had to take norethisterone then microgynon for three weeks before I can start my injections. I’m aiming for EC and ET at the end of April or beginning of may!

Alexm06 · 30/03/2022 20:38

Hey @Girlwholifts I am due to start another fresh cycle (my 3rd) on the 19th depending on when my period arrives. I'm having a scratch again even though it didn't work last time but trying again on my last nhs cycle. I'm sorry to hear about your MMC. My first cycle ended this way, next two failed then a chemical then had another miscarriage in January. Hopefully this will be a more positive cycle for us!!

Girlwholifts · 31/03/2022 09:39

Hey ladies ❤️

@TerrazzoChips
I think we are roughly at the same stage, my EC is provisionally booked in for BH Monday all being well. Fingers crossed no set backs and scans go to plan!

@Alexm06 bless you, you really have been though the mill haven’t you! I think the worst part for me was having the scan so early and seeing the heartbeat and then the next scan nothing!

@Alexm06 @TerrazzoChips what meds have you been prescribed? This time round they have upped mine a little but still the same - Pergoveris, Cetrotide and Ovitrelle
Also they have given me Progesterone Pessaries 👍🏼 and Crinone Gel which is new to me.

TerrazzoChips · 31/03/2022 09:55

@girlwholifts I have Bemfola, cetrotide and Ovitrelle in the fridge and I’m just waiting to start!

Girlwholifts · 31/03/2022 12:10

@TerrazzoChips yep same here! Everything with IVF is a good old waiting game! Fingers crossed the next couple of weeks fly by for us all!

Hi hope it's ok to join. I will be having a short frozen protocol in April. Never done a short one before. This will be my 7th round.

It's been a difficult journey but I do have my rainbow baby girl who is now 20 months so know how lucky we are.

Xx

Alexm06 · 31/03/2022 21:26

@Girlwholifts oh god! I have never gotten a heartbeat so I can't imagine how heart breaking that is.
I will be on 225 menopur, fyremedal and gonasi which is the same as my last fresh cycle. From that one I got 5 4AA and 1 4AB so I don't think I need to change anything. I will also be on prednisone which I was on for my last FET then obvs cyclogest and lubion injections twice a week. God it sounds like a lot when I type it out haha.

Girlwholifts · 01/04/2022 08:09

Welcome @ty1982 aww it’s very reassuring when someone has a success story to tell. I’m struggling to get my head around going into my 2nd fresh round and you’re on round number 7! Hats off to you!

@Alexm06 I think that’s was the worst part. We saw the little heart flickering away and was given a due date too. Then on the next scan at 11weeks nothing. My husband just kept saying can you check again please but I just knew.

We did a very light protocol the first time but this time they’ve upped me to 225iu Pergoveris and 250iu Cetrotide which is nearly 100iu more than last time. Yours sound like they had your meds spot on for you which is great. Let’s hope this round is as successful as they last giving you some great embryos!

Unfortunately we didn’t get any to the freezer but fingers crossed we get some to the freeze this time as I’m not sure I could go through another EC!

How different is a frozen round to a fresh in terms of meds etc?

OP posts:
Alexm06 · 02/04/2022 10:29

@Girlwholifts Hopefully this will the cycle for us! My first cycle I only got the one embryo then yeah my meds were upped and got more so hopefully you will get some!
With my frozen I was on progynova 3 times a day which is just a tablet then they just do scans every week ish to check the lining once it's thick enough you start cyclogest (or a type of progesterone) for 5 days then transfer and carry on with cyclogest. I also had lubion injections twice a week but not everyone has that.

Rosegold007 · 03/04/2022 10:10

Hi ladies. Can I join you please? I’m on day 6 of stims. Next scan booked for tomorrow. Started fyremadel yesterday. Injections going ok. Feeling more tired but not uncomfortable yet. I’m on short protocol - hoping for some good news tomorrow! Anyone else at a similar stage? X

Plantsandcoffee · 03/04/2022 17:18

Hi all,

Can I join in?

I've been told il have my preFSH scan in May. I think I'm pretty sure I'm doing a short protocol. Hospital told me potential EC would be week commencing 30th May.

Best of luck to everyone currently in the process thanks so much for sharing.

Xxx

Girlwholifts · 05/04/2022 18:06

Welcome @Rosegold007 @Plantsandcoffee

@Rosegold007 how did your scan go yesterday? I think you are a little ahead of us. I've not got my date with Wonda until 25th April so a little wait yet.

@Plantsandcoffee is this your first round? That time will fly by, it will be May before you know it. feel free to ask any questions Smile

I'm currently on day 16 of Norethisterone and I am counting down the days for them to end. Not sure about any of you who have been through a cycle already but this time round I've reacted really badly so far. Fingers crossed the injections go smoothly!

@Alexm06 My clinic doesn't use lubion injections, I will be on the good old pessaries and gel. Mine has been upped this time as they felt that the lower dose of progesterone may have cause the MMC. I have some extra one left from my last cycle so I may use those as well depending on my progesterone level.

Hi @Girlwholifts

Yes first round of ICSI for us.

I'm picking up so much from the group you guys all seem so knowledgeable about the process I feel pretty in the dark about it tbh.

I noticed a lot of you guys are also taking tablets before you start injecting. I thought I would be straight into doing injection as i haven't been told about any other medication. Is that possible?

I know I have my preFSH scan when my May (19th) period comes and then I was total possible EC on the week commencing 30th May.

Do you guys have any questions you would recommend I ask?

Thanks xx

Hopeful199 · 05/04/2022 23:25

Hi All,

Just claiming my spot 😊

I am very nearly 40 and had a BFN on my first round in Jan so now gearing up to have my first FET. Initially scheduled for a few weeks ago but contracted the dreaded covid.

Scan is Friday and if all looks good I will transfer next week…. Hopefully this is the one 🤞🏻

@Plantsandcoffee welcome! Try not to compare too much….. there are lots of different protocols. I have long protocol with no tables before injections…. Just a lot of down reg dude to mis-behaving ovaries!

Rosegold007 · 06/04/2022 13:59

@Girlwholifts
Hey, I’ve now had two scans this week. One Monday and one today. My follicles are developing nicely - stims have been extended by a couple of days, with egg collection possibly next Monday. Some bad news though, a polyp has developed on my uterine lining - clinic thinks from the meds/increased hormones as it wasn’t there previously. Which sadly means we can’t do a fresh transfer. Any little embryos we hopefully make will need to be frozen until I’ve had a hysteroscopy to remove the polyp. My clinic don’t do it so it will need to be via the NHS and apparently waiting times are months and months. I feel so disappointed, deflated and sad.

Has anyone had this performed via the NHS recently?

Sending you all so much hope and strength x

Plantsandcoffee · 06/04/2022 17:11

Thank you @Hopeful199

Best of luck for Friday 🤞

Plantsandcoffee · 06/04/2022 18:05

@Rosegold007

So sorry to this. I can understand why you feel disappointed and sad.

Sending lots of hope and strength to you in return xx

unCliche · 06/04/2022 18:46

Hey ladies, thought I'd jump in as I'll be starting with my meds next week! Currently on holiday in Italy until Saturday so I'm glad I'll be going into IVF relaxed. AF is due on Monday and that's also when my meds will be delivered with injections starting on CD2, so I'm cutting it close a bit!

@Hopeful199 all the best with Friday! Will this be an unmedicated FET?

@Rosegold007 oh no! Sorry to hear that! I haven't had the procedure before but would you consider going private maybe? Hopefully things do move quickly with the NHS regardless.

Hopeful199 · 07/04/2022 22:55

@unCliche that is a lovely way to go into a cycle! I hope you’ve had a fab time and are feeling zen on your return.

No mine is a fully medicated. I am about to turn 40 (next week) and have endo so need all the help I can get. My fresh round failed and I bled even before test day so have pushed for lubion this time as well as pessaries so really hoping that makes the difference (and I can give myself the best birthday gift ever!!)

Scan tomorrow so we will see what they say 🤞🏻

unCliche · 10/04/2022 19:49

@Hopeful199 Got back from Italy yesterday and picked up a new kitten today (our second cat) 😻 so my IVF cycle will at least start off euphoric!

How did your scan go on Friday?? Have you started medicating?

Ugh so annoying when AF announces a failure, must have been heartbreaking. Let's hope the extra meds helps! My luteal phase is pretty rubbish but I've had elevated prolactin levels which has now come down with meds so hopefully I'll be fine going forward 🤞

Happy birthday for next week! How are you celebrating?

StillTrying10000 · 11/04/2022 11:36

Hello, I've had 5 failed IVF cycles now, 4 of which were chemical pregnancies (even with genetically tested embryos). My clinic don't do blood tests for HCG or Progesterone so I've getting paranoid my progesterone might have been low and causing the losses. I take 2 cyclogest a day and 1 Lubion. Do any of you take more than this? Have you ever been told your progesterone is low and had to up your levels? Thanks! x

Girlwholifts · 11/04/2022 17:39

Hey everyone!

Welcome @Hopeful199 @unCliche @StillTrying10000

@Rosegold007 sorry to hear your news! I would personally look into going private just as an option. Not sure how good your GP is but mine are really good and my doctors went above and beyond to get me to appointments and kept me in the loop. Maybe worth a call?

@Plantsandcoffee like @Hopeful199 said try not to compare your protocol to ours. Your treatment will be specifically designed for you with yours and your partners medical history in mind Smile
Im taking Norethisterone as its common practice for my clinic apparently, they just like to know exactually when your going to bleed so they keep to schedule.

@Hopeful199 how did the scan go? Wow what a way to start the fabulous 40's Cake

@unCliche how lovely to be starting your cycle after a break away. I hope you've return all sun kissed and chilled.

@StillTrying10000 My MMC in Aug they think was down to lower progesterone and have upped my dose a little for this cycle. Have you thought of paying private for a test? If you're really worried I would book a test and at least it may put your mind at rest.

I have 3 more days of Norethisterone and I'm super excited for them to finish now! First injection on 20th and I actually cant wait now!!

OP posts:
StillTrying10000 · 11/04/2022 18:34

@Girlwholifts thank you. Do you mind me asking how much progesterone you are taking in your upped dose? I'm just wondering if I'm taking so much already that's why they aren't concerned to test it or if actually it's worth finding another private place to take the tests as you suggest. x

Hopeful199 · 11/04/2022 20:13

Thanks @Girlwholifts

Scan went well…. Lining was 10 on Friday so I am booked in for Wednesday…… literally the day before I turn 40!!!! 🥳🤞🏻

Typically I had 13 collocates showing this time….. I only got 7 when I needed them!!! Few like my ovaries just like to play games!

Spending my birthday cash on acupuncture this week. Actually quite relieved to be spending my birthday PUPO and in the hope zone!

Fingers crossed it’s second time lucky for me!

@StillTrying10000 I am on 3 lutigest pessaries a day and 2 x lubion. If you are worried; then definitely get them to check it x

Hopeful199 · 12/04/2022 06:32

Collocates = follicles 😂
