Anyone out there currently going through IVF, start my stims in a couple of days. Had my down reg scan today and I have 4 follicles on my left and 5 on my right, wasn't sure if this was good or not, I've just turned 40 as this is my first cycle.

Hi there. First go at ivf here. Just started norethisterone and stims start on 14th!!
I have also just turned 40. Not sure what’s normal or not but 9 follicles sounds good!!
I have a really high amh so they’re worried about OHSS with me and having really low protocol.
Also unexplained infertility. My clinic doesn’t do baseline scans so won’t have first scan until week after starting stims

Hello, hope it all goes well for you, have you noticed any side effects of Nore? I didn't notice any but was emotional wreck last week on and off.

Its good to be able to chat to someone going through the same thing. My aunty had IVF but that was 20 years ago and she can't remember alot. She was in the same boat as you and did suffer from OHSS so they stopped her first cycle and she became pregnant on her second.

Have you started Buserelin inject yet? Having had a fear of needles forever I found it much easier than I expected, well after my first injection.

No side effects yet but I’m only on day 3 so looking forward to that.
I don’t have buserilin until trigger. My stims are menopur and fyremadel. Start on the 14th

I’ve become friendly with a couple of girls who are going through the same but other than that no experience of this so it’s hard to know what to expect.
When do you start your injections?

Yes it is, the period I had when I stopped Nore was the worse I've ever had 😣, it obviously does a good job of clearing the lining of the womb ready for transfer.

I've been doing my stims for 3 days, no side affects but I have put on a little weight. I'm injecting Gonal, 300 a day. I read the side effects leaflet which I shouldn't but I suppose everything has risks doesn't it.

I have my scan in 1 week so see if the eggs are ready for retrieval 🤞, how are you feeling?

I’m starting to get a bit anxious now so trying to stay calm. Still can’t believe after all this time, it’s actually happening

I will do although today I've woken up with pain from my left ovary so Im having to phone the hospital this morning. Almost bought me to tears and it's so hard to know what side effects are normal be what may be a sign of something more serious 😣

Are you in the UK, I just wondered as our treatments seem a little different?

Ive also been told that as I've reached 40 I can choose to have 1 or 2 eggs put in, what are you thoughts on this 🤔

Yes I’m in Scotland. There are loads of different protocols and treatment is a really low one as my amh was almost 40 and my follicle count was super high so I’m at risk of ovarian hyper stimulation syndrome. That’s why I’ve to freeze all then do a frozen transfer 6-8wks later and not fresh transfer as it increases risk

My consultant advised me to do 1 embryo. He said they try to minimise the risk of multiples and also that 2 transfers of 1 embryo would have a cumulative higher success rate than 1 transfer of 2 embryos. But I think that was just his personal opinion.

I have so many multiples in my family I’m happy to go with his advice.

I hope the pain is just lots of nice follicles forming. Fingers crossed all ok!!

Thank you, the pain didn't last long and they were quite reassuring on the phone. Oh I see, yes much safer to do at a later date once everything has calmed down. Yes I had heard similar in terms of 2 embryos, I was only meant to be given one go at this as it was through the NHS so originally thought that 2 may have increased my chances but they have said that due to covid etc if my eggs are freezable that they will give me a second chance if unsuccessful the first time 😅

Roll on Monday when I hope I'll be good to go 🤞

In on day 3 of stims too gonal 225 and 40'too! I'm going for my first scan tomorrow to see what my follicles are looking like ... how's everyone getting on x

Hiya, I'm on my first IVF cycle - short protocol.

I starting stims last Monday (28th Feb) and was on 225IU of Meriofert for five days and dropped down to 150IU on Saturday.
I had a scan on Monday and they saw 10 follicles on my left and 9 on my right. Some were a bit small but the others were almost ready so I triggered last night on day 9 with Ovitrelle.

Overall I've been feeling fine. I thought I'd feel really bloating and uncomfortable but not at all. The only thing I've noticed is a massive increase of EWCM and tender boobs.

Egg collection is tomorrow and I'm starting to feel quite nervous. Mainly paranoid that I will ovulate early and there will be no eggs but I need to remember that is very rare.

@Emmyanddreams good luck for tomorrow!!!!! It’s so hard not to think of all the worst case scenarios but keep thinking positively!!!

Hey, I just read your post and wanted to reassure you that I was exactly the same last night before my egg collection this morning. I was having all sorts of pains, convinced myself I'd ovulated and it was all going wrong.

Egg collection this morning was absolutely fine, I don't recall a thing other than confirming my details before sedation and 11 eggs have been collected. You'll be absolutely fine :) xx

So I had my egg collection this morning and they collected 13 eggs. So I was just being paranoid!
I just got an update call and apparently 7 are mature out of the 13. Not sure if 7 is good or not but fingers crossed at least 1 makes it 🤞

@Emmyanddreams Ah that’s great news! So glad it went well! How did you find it?

I had a call this morning, 5 eggs out of 11 have fertilised - I’m happy with that! Anything other than none is a bonus in my eyes! I’ll get a call on Saturday to see the progress then they will decide from there if they feel a day 3 or day 5 transfer is best. Just keeping my fingers crossed now for them to keep doing their thing! :)

@Colourfulliving hello I got 12 follicles on my first scan yesterday some very small they said though so back again tomorrow started my cetrotide tonight and everything went better than I thought

@Elle147 I didn't find it too bad. It was all over quite quickly and since having a long nap this afternoon I feel heaps better.
5 eggs fertilised, that's great. Fingers crossed they all do well. I get my next update on Saturday too so I won't know until then how many have fertilised. It's going to be a long wait!

@Elle147 out of your 11 eggs collected, do you know how many were mature, or was it 11 mature eggs?
