Anyone out there currently going through IVF, start my stims in a couple of days. Had my down reg scan today and I have 4 follicles on my left and 5 on my right, wasn't sure if this was good or not, I've just turned 40 as this is my first cycle.

Unexplained infertility, many thanks ☺️

Ive told my boss which was necessary for getting time off and one close friend in work to make things easier. And 2 of my other friends and my parents know so we ended up telling a few but it’s not common knowledge. I just felt like I needed someone to talk to about stuff.
Not finding the injections as bad as I thought I would so far. Just a bit stingy.

flowersinmay · 16/03/2022 09:27

@LT103 yeah agree they are a tiny bit stingy - I find it depends on the area they go in weirdly. I have one small bruise so far on my stomach... hoping the bruises don't increase!

I haven't told my parents as I know my Mum would worry and cause me extra stress! I've told only two close friends. Also not told anyone at work - I'm lucky I work from home at the moment so Scans etc are easy to schedule. Not sure what I'll do for egg collection though - maybe get a letter from the doctor or call in sick. I have to travel over an hour and a half to the clinic for egg collection so bit of a pain!

Emmyanddreams · 16/03/2022 09:57

@LT103 it is good to have someone to talk to about it for sure.

@flowersinmay is your work quite supportive when it comes to time off sick? If so I'd just do that, especially if you don't want them to know.

I just had a call from the clinic and unfortunately the remaining embryos are forming early blasts but really low grade so they won't make the cut. Quite disappointed but I need to stay positive. I've got one in the freezer if this one doesn't work, and it's also top grade so 🤞🤞

flowersinmay · 16/03/2022 16:49

@Emmyanddreams ahh I'm so sorry to hear that. You still have one in the freezer though which is better than 0 and it takes only one as they say! Keeping my fingers crossed for you this one sticks!

I haven't had a day off work since I started so I think they should be understanding 🤞 let's see!

LT103 · 16/03/2022 19:13

My work have been great but my boss has had fertility issues in the past and I think that has def helped.
They’ve basically said whatever I need is fine so I’m working just now during stims but they’ve given me next week off as an extra holiday so not having to take it as sick leave. They’ve been much better than I expected!

Colourfulliving · 17/03/2022 15:36

Good luck to you ladies that have recently had your transfer, everything crossed for you.

I was booked in for retrieval tomorrow at 8am, and my PCR came back positive today so it's all off 😭😭

I've not been in contact with anyone other than my partner for 12 days, heart broken!

Trying to remain in positive spirit, at least I've been through it all so will know what to expect when we start again next month, good luck to you all xxx

Oh god @Colourfulliving I’m so sorry!! This is my main worry as me and my partner are still having to work!
Do you get to restart on next cycle?

Emmyanddreams · 17/03/2022 17:02

Oh @Colourfulliving I'm so so sorry. How heartbreaking. Try and stay positive, as you say you've been through the stims now so you know what to expect next time. Your time will come round fast I'm sure xxx

Colourfulliving · 17/03/2022 17:08

Thank you both ☺️, I have to call them when I have my next period and will likely start again in April going into May. They did reassure me that I would not go to the bottom of the list it's just worrying being 40 but I suppose a couple of months wouldn't make too much of a difference 💝, good luck with the rest of journeys, I will not let covid defeat me 👊 x

@Colourfulliving I'm so so sorry to hear this! Could it perhaps be a false positive? Will they let you test again? Really hope you can start a new cycle very soon - keep us updated! The pain and waiting will be worth it in the end, keep going you can do this! DaffodilThanks

I'm a bit nervous now about my EC, I'm on day 5 of stimms and my belly is already swollen and I'm feeling a bit uncomfortable now. Got my first scan tomorrow, really hoping I don't have to Stimm for a long time! And now I'm also really hoping I don't catch COVID, it's such a worry for all of us isn't it - and just another thing on top of everything else!

Colourfulliving · 17/03/2022 17:32

Will do, I was due in at 8am tomorrow and had triggered last night, my lateral flows are all negative but they said once you get the + PCR thats it, to protect them all which I totally understand.

I done stims for 11 days, I put on 5 lb and had some terrible pain one morning around 5 days in but they said not to worry as it's just my body adapting to the meds. I suppose our bodies all deal with things differently but try not to worry, at least you'll know more tomorrow about your progress. Good luck at the scan tomorrow 💝

@Colourfulliving So sorry to hear this!

@flowersinmay Good luck with your scan, let us know how you get on!

@Emmyanddreams Sorry to hear about your other embryos. Sounds like your one in the freezer is a good one though! I’m hoping you don’t need to use that anytime soon though :) How are you feeling after your transfer?

Emmyanddreams · 17/03/2022 20:31

Thanks @Elle147 I hope I don't need to use it too 🤞 My little one has tested positive for covid so I imagine that I will probably have it too within a day or two. I hope this doesn't affect my chances.
I've been feeling ok, mild cramping but I think that's normal after a transfer.
How are you feeling?

Elle147 · 17/03/2022 20:42

@Emmyanddreams Oh no, sorry to hear that! It seems to be doing the rounds again doesn’t it!

I’ve been feeling okay. Some pulling and cramping but nothing I can pinpoint as ‘different’. Absolutely exhausted but that’s definitely just down to a busy week I think! Today has been the first day my Utrogestan hasn’t irritated me either so that’s a win! :)

Emmyanddreams · 17/03/2022 20:49

@Elle147 it's really hard to tell whether it's a symptom or not.
That's great news about the Utrogestan, I hope it stays like that for you xx

Hello all, My name is Jisha, I would like to get a review from you lovelies about an IVF treatment. I have endometriosis and my husband got low sperm count. So our only chance was IVF and we did our NHs cycle under chelsea and westminister hospital. But it failed. Now thinking about a second one private, can some advise me the best clinic to go for. Thank You.

Elle147 · 18/03/2022 18:54

@sudji Hello, so sorry to hear your cycle failed. I can’t advise on the best clinic, as I’m currently in the North West and did my cycle under the NHS. No idea as of yet if it has worked or not.

Hopefully you get some good advice / recommendations x

Cmagz1989 · 18/03/2022 23:48

Hi, my husband and I traveled to Prague. We used 2 coordinators in Ireland. They were both lovely and really helpful throughout the process. There is no waiting list and financially it is easier. I was on a short protocal and found it all much quicker than I had expected. Everything went well throughout the scans. My stim was stopped 3 days early and trigger shot was advised as my follicles had grown rapidly and I had 18 large ready to go!
Unfortunately only 10 eggs collected and only 3 mature. Docs seemed confused and said they made a judgement call to avoid OHSS. We had 2 fertilised but only one survived until the transfer. I had the transfer but unfortunately BFN and AF has arrived Sad.
Not sure what went wrong as everything throughout was so positive, no nasty stim side effects and responded to the meds well.
So sad this was not our time but hoping all will work out one of these days Daffodil

Elle147 · 19/03/2022 16:37

@Cmagz1989 So sorry to hear this. Sending you all the luck for next time and I’m so sure it will all work out for you in the end!

How’s everyone else doing? I’m 5dp5dt today - getting constant period like cramps and feel absolutely shattered! Not much else happening though! X

flowersinmay · 19/03/2022 18:49

@sudji sorry to hear this, I'm afraid I can't advise you, but I'm sure there's lots of info on MN that will be helpful. Best of luck!

@Cmagz1989 thank you for sharing your experience, I'm really sorry to hear this - best of luck on the next round, keep being strong, it will work out eventually, it's just a numbers game🤞

@Elle147 when do you think you'll start testing? Hope you're having a nice relaxing weekend, taking it easy and your partner is looking after you!

I went for a scan on Friday (my first), I'm on two injections a day now. No sign of OHSS so far luckily, there are about 3 or 4 follicles on each side that seem to be developing ok - forgotten the sizes they said though, I think the biggest was around 12 but could be wrong! Going back for another scan on Monday, aiming for EC on Thursday but should know more next week. It's my first time so no idea what to expect for EC! Think I'm the most worried about the cannula which I know is a bit pathetic - I just don't like the idea of a needle stuck in me! I'm sure I'll deal with it though. Worth it in the end... hopefully 🤞

Elle147 · 19/03/2022 19:13

@flowersinmay I’m really not sure! My OTD is on Friday. I may do a test Tue / Wed next week so I know I’ve given it 14 days for the trigger to leave!

Aw bless you. I was absolutely terrified about EC and honestly it was so much fuss over nothing! I remember the nurses talking to me when I lied down and then I was gone 🤣 I came round about 20 mins later! Keep us updated! X

Emmyanddreams · 19/03/2022 19:19

@sudji really sorry but it's also my first time and I'm still learning as I go, so I can't really recommend a clinic. There will be lots of more experienced people on here though so hopefully somebody will be able to help you.

@Cmagz1989 I am so sorry how it worked out for you. Perhaps next time they will stim you for longer. Stay positive, your time will come 😊

@Elle147 Your symptoms sound positive! Keeping everything crossed for you.

@flowersinmay oooh it sounds like things are going well. How exciting! I know what you mean about the cannula, I had similar feelings as I don't like needles. However it was fine, I just didn't look and took deep breaths. It wasn't painful and before I knew it I was asleep. You will be fine!

I'm 4dp5dt now and for some reason I'm feeling like it hasn't worked. But not sure whether I'm just being negative. Time will tell I suppose...

Elle147 · 19/03/2022 19:38

@Emmyanddreams Try and stay positive! I know that’s hard. When do you think you will test?

One thing I have struggled with, eating healthy! Wow my diet has been awful - I’m sure it’s all the meds but I am hungry allll of the time! 🤣

flowersinmay · 19/03/2022 19:50

@Emmyanddreams thank you for the reassuring words about EC! Try and stay positive - you really never know! 🍀🌸

Emmyanddreams · 19/03/2022 19:50

@Elle147 Well my OTD isn't for another week but I think I will test by Wednesday as I expect by then it will be pretty accurate.

I've managed to be quite good with my diet but it is starting to slip for sure! I love food!
