Hi

I am just starting a new thread in case anyone else is falling into the September/October timings...I have been in other threads which have been so so supportive and a bit of a godsend really, but I'm a bit behind where everyone is up to.

I had a failed cycle in June unfortunately and didn't respond as they expected. Then was supposed to start again in august but unfortunately they saw a cyst on one of my ovaries so have delayed the next cycle to September (I think my stims will fall into October as they'll put me on norithisterone).

Be great to chat to others who are about to start soon 😊

@Coops0406 sorry to hear about your failed cycle. I too have just failed on my first cycle. I have a follow up appointment next week with the doctor so I'm hoping he gives me the go ahead to start ASAP so hopefully fall into the October cycle. The same as you I'm in another thread for July/August & it's been a help & to know you aren't alone, unfortunately it hasn't been a very lucky thread for many 😢.

Coops0406 · 30/08/2021 10:32

@Reefy oh no, it's so hard isn't it! The group I was in had quite a few positive stories, so it was really nice to hear after so many struggles, it gave me a lot of hope.

I hope you are feeling okay and looking forward to starting your next cycle. Have you had your review meeting after your last cycle? Xx

I had resigned myself to the first one not working so that expectation was never there luckily, but just presumed we would have one or two frozen in that cycle too...it was hard hearing I only had 3, maybe 4 follicles then only 2 eggs when they had expected a lot more. And for the cycle to be over like that! Hopefully we both have better luck next time.

@Coops0406 yes it is hard in all ways physically, emotionally & mentally. Yeah I was still holding on for hope after a negative test we al do. I'm lucky I have good support from my family & a very good friend who is going through the same but with more failed cycles she has been amazing so I don't feel alone. I was the same as you I didn't hold much hope of it working first time as I feel everything has been a fight to get to this point so I knew it wasn't going to be easy. My appointment is next week but on Zoom again. They got 9 follicles, 6 fertilised then had a transfer on day 3 but none to freeze so we go again & I'm going to give it my absolute all! Have you started you're next cycle yet?

Coops0406 · 30/08/2021 17:04

@Reefy let me know how the review goes. How come you had a day 3 transfer? Did the others not make it to day 5? It's such a minefield, even when you do get a good amount of eggs fertilised!

I'm just waiting for AF and will hopefully have a baseline scan to check what's going on with the cyst on my left ovary. They said if it's still there we will still go ahead this month but I'll be on norithisterone first then another bleed then stims...so likely October when we actually start properly!
What meds and doses were you on last time? Thankfully we are being put on the maximum that our fertility place use so just hoping it does something!

OP posts:
Reefy · 30/08/2021 17:18

@Coops0406 yes i will let you know how it goes. They called & said there was on strong embryo & the others were behind so they wanted to get it in & no others made it to day 5 🙁. Hopefully the cyst would of gone by your baseline scan. Yes I was on norethistrone twice a day for 11days then had AF then stims for 12 days of once a day Gonal-F 50mls Menopur 75mls then after 5 days also added in Fyremedal 250ml. It will be interesting to see what they put me on next cycle. Let me know how the scan goes when you have it. Good luck 🤞

Coops0406 · 02/09/2021 06:34

@Reefy that must have been so hard to hear! The drop off in ivf can be brutal. AF finally came this morning so hoping they can get me in tomorrow for a baseline scan 🤞🏾 and I can also find out my protocol properly.
I was on 225 meriofert and 25mg fyremadel with a gonasi 5000 trigger. I think I'll be on 450 ovaleap this time with the same fyremadel and they were unsure about the trigger last time so we'll see. It will end up being a freeze all cycle if we get more than a couple of embryos as we are having the genetic testing to make sure they are viable.
Hopefully in your review you can get some understanding of why your last cycle went like it did and what they would change to give you a better outcome. Which fertility centre are you with?

Hello, I hope to be starting September/ October, after a very long wait to get the funding through. Feeling quite anxious about it all. I have my first nurse appointment soon to discuss the timings and order the meds - have you all had this already?

Can I ask one thing? So my BMI was 29 when I last when to the GP and is recorded as that on the system... I think I've gained a few lbs and it may have just tipped 30 now (which is the cut off for funding!)

Did you all get weighed just before the treatment? I'm trying to lose it but worried the nurse will weigh me and say no!

Reefy · 02/09/2021 07:39

@Coops0406 yes it was but hopefully will get more this time & some to freeze. Glad you can get the scan, it's the only time we are glad AF shows up 😂. It will be interesting to see what they put me on this time if the same but higher dose or completely different. Yes I've got a list of questions!

Reefy · 02/09/2021 07:47

@want2bemum yes I got weighed at my first appointment & again on the morning of egg collection.
Unfortunately I had to lose quite a bit of weight to be able to be referred, I know it was my own fault but I had a reason to lose it.
My BMI in December last year was 33.3 & I was told I couldn't be referred until it was under 30 so I lost weight went back the 1st March & it was 30.6 but he said as he could see how hard I had worked at it he would refer me but I carried on losing & by the time I was seen in May had lost 14kg with my BMI being 28.2. So I wouldn't panic about it see what they say.

Alexm06 · 02/09/2021 15:33

Hey guys hope you don't mind me joining!
I have just had my follow up appointment today and have the all clear to start my last NHS transfer on my next cycle which is in 10 days! Well hopefully it's 10 days.
I had my first cycle last year which ended in a missed miscarriage. Didn't get any frozen then had another cycle in June as I also had a cyst @Coops0406 so they wouldn't start me on stims so I completely know how you feel as I was meant to start in the feb but yeah couldn't start till June.
Finally got 6 frozen but that cycle ended in a negative then a frozen cycle in July where I lost one egg in defrost and then also negative.
My clinic are now allowing me to have 2 put back in this time so I hope they survive defrost this time as I know have 3 left.

Sorry for the long post!

@want2bemum I only ever got weighed once and that must have been 2 years ago now. I've defo put in a few pounds in lockdown haha so I'm glad I don't get weighed. Although I am planning on moving to another clinic if this cycle doesn't work so I'm guessing I will there.

Coops0406 · 02/09/2021 17:02

@want2bemum hi! I haven't been weighed, just told them my weight and because my bmi is just average I haven't been asked really since so I can't help with that one. I have a scan on Monday to check whether the cyst has gone, then the nurse will go through my meds (have already gone through them at my review and then last month as was due to start the cycle but the cyst has delayed. I found that getting the protocol and list of dates and meds just made it real and was exciting and nerve wracking!

@Reefy what day is your review meeting next week? Honestly, I sat there in pain this morning but so glad I was 🤣

@Alexm06 are you getting ready for frozen transfer from an embryo in your last cycle? So no more EC but getting your lining ready for transfer? Did they say why they'll put 2 back in? I don't think my clinic do it but I don't know fully why. I'm so pleased you managed to get some frozen and keeping everything crossed for the two going on 🤞🏾if we manage to get more than 1 embryo this time they'll all be frozen so I won't be having a fresh transfer

OP posts:
Reefy · 02/09/2021 17:17

@Coops0406
It's on Wednesday, I just wish it was in person rather then Zoom but guess at least I have something. Mine has been so painful this week can't wait for it to be over! My clinic asked me on my first round if I wanted 2 put in but she told me that she had 1 that split to 3 recently so I said no 😂. However if they ask me this time I going to go for 2 as I'm 35 so getting on & I want to give it my all so I know I've tried my best! Good luck for the scan on Monday 🤞

Alexm06 · 02/09/2021 17:40

@Coops0406 yeah another frozen transfer for me but yeah i have the 3 left so if 2 defrost well I'll have one left for any other frozen then I would have to have another egg collection to get some more.
They didn't say why 2 it's only because I asked and he said after 3 unsuccessful attempts he wouldn't object to me having 2 put back in. But yeah I'm risking it now after it hasn't worked so far. Hopefully one will stick.

@Reefy like I've said they will defo up your dosage as you had the same as me first round except for the day of embryo transfer. If they don't I would push for it to be upped otherwise you will probably have the same sort of outcome. Also don't really know why I'm replying to you on here haha

Reefy · 02/09/2021 18:01

@Alexm06 yeah I'm gonna make sure it's upped. I have no idea either 😂 & even why I'm doing what you did & replying to you 😂😂 x

Coops0406 · 02/09/2021 19:14

@Reefy I found zoom okay, until I had a face to face consultation! Felt so much better after that but the main thing is you get all your questions answered! Thank you, I'm just wishing the days away until Monday...I find myself wishing a lot of time away these days! 🤦🏾‍♀️

@Alexm06 if I was in your position I would definitely go for it! I wish my place would put 2 back in, but they made it quite clear to me they don't...maybe circumstances may change this. I'm 39 so time is ticking!

Hi @Coops0406 👋🏻

I've been keeping an eye on all the posts but I seen u have done this thread and I remember being on the last one with u and it was soo supportive!

Just wanted to check in and hope ur doing well? Did u end up staying with the same clinic?

My clinic are so busy so they can't get us started for out 2nd round until end of September/ start of October. We will be on down regulation again for 3+ weeks so thinking stims/egg collection & transfer won't be until end of October/ start of November. So hoping it's ok to join this group ladies ❤️

Ps .. seen a question about bmi. I'm abit stressed too as put on nearly a stone during my last round and I've really struggled to get it off! I get weighed and swabs in a week and I've still got half a stone to loose! I'm abit stressed about it but I must say for my first round my clinic were soooo understanding! And even with nhs funding there is abit leeway aslong as ur fit and healthy and taking all ur vitamins xxx

X

Coops0406 · 02/09/2021 22:37

Hi @ivf2021 so good to see you on here. I ended up staying with the same group but moved from Chester to Liverpool to be under a different consultant. Already feel so much better with them, but that may be because I've now been through one cycle and have a bit more understanding about things that I'm more confident to ask questions and push a little!

How are you doing? What did they do for your down regulation? Will you be on the same protocol or is it changing? I have my baseline scan (something I never got at the other place) on Monday so that will manage my expectations for the number of follicles I could get. I think I'll be on norithisterone then stims in October 🤞🏾 providing all okay on Monday.

The weight I put on in my last cycle has stayed on, but I think my eating habits and mood got bad after the failed cycle and it's hard to get back on track. Just got to try not to stress about it too much

OP posts:
ivf2021 · 02/09/2021 23:21

Aww @Coops0406 so good to see u too. Was hoping when I came back on here that u would be on here staring or going through ur second round.

Amazing so pleased u moved and feel so more confident as I know ur first round was so hard for u ❤️ I'm sure once they sort ur protocol out this round it will work 🙏🏻

We had our follow up a few weeks after our first failed round. Was expecting a change as I didn't respond as well to the medication as well as they thought I would. But we are still going ahead with long protocol but they are just upping the dose of stims straight away rather than half way through.

It's soo hard to get weight off isn't it! I was so good diet wise and even still exercised lightly during Stims. But I remember the day after I done my trigger I felt huge and got on the scales and put on 5 pound over night! We were the same tho it was my 30th birthday the week after we had our failed round so had plenty wine a massive takeaway and treats! It's so hard 😭❤️

X

Coops0406 · 03/09/2021 20:49

@ivf2021 how lovely...nice for us both to be on a similar timeline again. Have they said what they will up your meds to? I'll be on 450 ovaleap (I think they have changed it to this one as it's one pen rather than me having to mix up 6 powders of meriofert everyday! Thank god!)

How is everyone else? Hope you all have a lovely weekend 😍

OP posts:
Alexm06 · 03/09/2021 21:05

@Coops0406 that's weird that they won't put 2 in. Is that even after a few cycles? Very strange as I turned 32 on Wednesday and they are letting me.

I've actually had some spotting today and yesterday which is weird as I never have spotting until a few days before my period. I tracked my ovulation this month which was sun/Monday so my period isn't due to start for like another 10 days. I'm just putting it down to the meds from last months cycle haha

Coops0406 · 03/09/2021 21:45

@Alexm06 I'm not sure, it was just on the paperwork I had originally with the information about multiple births. I'll ask the nurse though at my scan on Monday.

How bizarre! Must be! Although some people get some mid cycle spotting 🤷🏾‍♀️

OP posts:
Coops0406 · 06/09/2021 20:13

I had my scan today and the cyst has gone which is great, there's another small one but not too big so nothing to worry about.
And I have double the amount of follicles I had a month ago!! 😊 So great news and I will get my protocol this Wednesday, likely to have EC in the middle of October!

How is everyone getting on?

OP posts:
Reefy · 06/09/2021 20:38

@Coops0406 sorry I've been so busy working today I was meant to get on here to wish you luck!
So glad the cyst has gone & they aren't worried about the other one. That's brilliant news! That will soon fly by.

Alexm06 · 06/09/2021 20:57

@Coops0406 that's amazing news! Especially with the extra follicles. Hopefully you will get a fair few embryos!. It was the same with me my cyst went but I had a another one but smaller but was given the all
clear to go ahead.

Coops0406 · 07/09/2021 11:59

Thanks @Reefy and @Alexm06 so glad of the good news! 🥰

But now I'm getting super paranoid about covid...lots of my friends are getting it and it seems to be rife! Last round they told us both to isolate, what have your places said about your next round?
