IVF , do you inject ovaleap injection in thigh or tummy?

Hi just wondering where you inject yours thanks

Waiting for the go-ahead on stims for me. When i get the thumbs up (hopefully by next week!) i will be injecting in the abdomen.

When are you starting your stims?

@ngy21 hey I have started yesterday I do mine in the upper thigh as asked . Do you use ovaleap too ?

@ShareLove Hi! Oh nice!! how did you find the upper thigh? I am going to be on Ovaleap as well, it's currently nicely stored in my fridge. Are you on a short protocol?

@ngy21 hey , yeah upper thigh is sooooo easy I couldn’t belive it , I was so scared to start with when I saw the needle but it’s so thin needle that you don’t even feel anything at all , and also it’s my first ivf round and yes I am On short protocol and you I can’t wait to see if it’s successful cycle or not , I really hope so ! Is it your first cycle too or ? Xxx

@ShareLove It seems rare to find people who do it on the thigh! I am on a long protocol so currently injecting buserelin into the abdomen, this is to down regulate my system. once down regulation has been confirmed and period has come, i can then start my oveleap! The needles for ovaleap seem tiny but i think i will continue injecting in the abdomen as i think i am pretty pro now lol!!! This is also my first cycle :)

I know it's early days but do you feel any different? I have felt some side effects on buserelin but its not too severe. I can imagine ovaleap be more severe tho as it's making you create more eggs.

Have you got dates for egg collection and transfer?

@ngy21 , I am on short protocol , and I didn’t have down regulation , I started ovaleap straight away on second day of period . Today is my second day of injections so I don’t feel any different just yet and no I don’t have dates yet as I will be having my first scan on day 11 , (today is day 2) and I guess I will know after I have had my scan to see how things are progressing . I am on ovaleap until they tell me to stop , and on day 6 I am also adding fyremadel into the mix so day 6 I will be having 2 injections a day how do you feel about this ivf ? Are you feeling positive that first cycle will work ? I know many that it has worked first time

@ShareLove what does the fyremadel do? Ah ok so the clinic is pretty hands off until day 11.

I will be on buserelin until egg collection, so when stims start I will be on 2 injections a day also! And then trigger shot i assume is just going to be on its own? (I'll double check with doc) I'm on Gonasi 1000ml for trigger, that mixing needle scared the crap out of me as i initially thought it was the needle used to inject myself! Good job the actual needle is a lot shorter and thinner.

At first i was a bit unsure about IVF - as i really wanted to keep trying for a pregnancy naturally.
It took a while for the idea of IVF to sink in but now, since doing the DR shots and they weren't too bad, i am just getting more and more excited that it's only getting closer and closer to the possibility of something happening.

I have known many that have worked first time too! I've been mad doing research and following peoples journeys - i want to say i am hopeful and positive it will work first round (if we get any embryos!!!!) but same time don't want to get my hopes up!!! One thing I like about following other peoples journey is when they get their BFP it makes everything so hopeful!

I think my most scary thought is going through IVF and not having any embryos as an end result.....

@ngy21 yess that’s my biggest fear, not having any embryos to transfer or immature eggs after collection .I’m with you on that one , I try not to be too hopeful , so I can’t let my self down if it doesn’t work… but secretly I’m hoping it works We just have to take one day at a time , we can’t even see the future for the next week with ivf because anything could go wrong at any moment or drugs not working as they should ect , it’s scary really … and yes fyremadel stops early ovulation from happening and my trigger shot is called gonasi HP 10 000 units and is your trigger shot only 1000!? Mine is 10 000?

@ngy21 and yes the clinic is hands off until I go for a scan at day 11. I’m a bit confused as why they doing my scan so late , I heard people going for a scan at day 6-10 even … and also I never had baseline scan on day 2 which I have read that many people do ….

Ahh so your fyremadel is similar to my buserelin!

I think the egg collection is what I see as the first big hurdle... get the eggs, hope for embryos... and if we get 3-4 healthy embryos i will be very happy (a lot to ask for i know....!!!)

Yea i don't have scan until AF arrives (i call them and then they book me in a few days later?), then i believe its scans on day 8, 10 and 12 of stims, day 12 hoping i'd get the thumbs up for trigger the following day which should fall on a saturday? (they do scans for Mon, Weds and Fri, Mon being day 8) and then egg collection following Monday, with hope of Blast transfer on same week Friday.

Suppose it is quite detailed, just need the to actually start.

I am unexplained so hoping i can get decent amount of healthy eggs as my results from tests all seem to be normal and good.

@ngy21 can I ask you one question about the gonasi , you know we have 2 boxes and both boxes have the water liquid to mix the powder with , iv been watching videos that you only use one of the water mixes for both powders instead of one water mix for one powder and second water mix for second powder I’m confused … do you know which way is the right way ? Thanks xx

The video I watched was using one water/injection needle for both ampules of powder. So as long as both powders are mixed in the one needle then that is correct. I assume the ampules have to come in a box with the needles/water!

But yes the video I watched was a demonstration video from the clinic I am with, they used both ampules of powder but only one injection needle/water.

Hope this makes sense! If you want to check you can always go on YouTube and search "Care gonasi" - bit of an old school vid with some sound issues but definitely 1 needle!

@ngy21 thank you for the info I did watch some videos and yes they also did one water solution for both powders . I was just confused as why there is 2 water mixes but now I understand . But what would happen if you do both separately with both water mixes ? Would the affect be any different I wonder ?

@ShareLove i don't think it will affect! As its the powder you need and not the solution i imagine? Also would mean if you use both water mixes you may need to have 2 injections as I'm not sure that one needle will be able to hold both powders and solutions lol!!!

How are you getting on with stims? Ovaries feel heavier yet?

I am still waiting on AF, usually avg 28-30 day cycle. Tomorrow will be CD30 and fingers crossed its coming... getting all the signs but not showing anything yet. Never wanted AF so bad in my life!

@ngy21 hey , today is my third day of stims and I feel absolutely fine , I don’t feel any difference , I did have a little headache this morning but this could not be related … we are very close with our IVF journeys I just started and you’re about to start soon!! I hope you AF shows up soon so you can start ! I’m sooo exited I keep looking at my medicine and can’t wait to finish taking them all already ! I just counted that I have enough injections till day 10 and then day 11 , I have a scan , so I’m not sure what to expect after that , will they give me more medicine or will they tell me to take trigger shot on the day of the scan …. The only medicine I’ll have left after scan is the trigger shot and progesterone pessaries so 10 days of ovaleap and 5 days of fyremadel starting from day 6 … how much medicine do you have ?

@ShareLove oh i have the pessaries too! Think i am dreading that more cause it seems so inconvenient... i would rather take it in injections if they offered that!!!

So my meds are buserelin (3 vials, each one contains 11 days worth), ovaleap pen enough for 12 days, gonasi for trigger, then i think its like 6 weeks worth of those pessaries!!! I assume you will be taking them 3 times a day, 8 hours apart?

I am really confused by different ivf clinics , it seems like they all do it differently , so someone’s ivf cycle is completely different from yours … and they don’t really explain as well unless you ask . I always feel like I’m annoying them always asking questions and ringing but yeah I am not afraid of any of the medications or needles I am having as my want for a baby is too great I don’t even know when to book days off work as I’m trying to figure out myself when my EC day would be ect so it’s a bit stressful too , well very stressful …

I agree! Some clinics are very hands off but i trust in their expertise. I am guessing with the stims, avg stim time is 8-12 days anyways and if by that time your eggs arent mature enough its just more stims? I guess the main worry is what if your body responds very well and eggs were too mature???... since i am long protocol i guess they just need to check the drugs pre-stims to make sure the drugs worked.

I am sure it was 6 weeks of pessaries ive got, i might have just made a random number up lol! The use of pessaries seem so far away.

I am on 150 units a day as well! At first i was well confused with the pen as i thought you inject pressing the top button but its the side lol - needles look so much smaller too so i am actually looking forward to the stims!

Also - same regarding work! My clinic seemed very sure that i will be doing 12 days of stims, i think they have some sort of set days for things?? So as long as I know when i am starting stims, i will then know when to book 2 days off for EC. I guess it can still change tho depending on how my body reacts to the drugs?

One thing i get really scared of, is early ovulation.......... but because i am on buserelin all throughout stims, i shouldnt ovulate early. But this is my biggest fear!!! it's unlikely but have heard some peoples cycle cancelled due to premature ovulation

@ngy21 I think the early ovulation is quite rare , I would not worry about it one bit if I was you . There is enough to worry already and about my scan, I guess they have given my smaller amounts of drugs to be sure the eggs for sure won’t over immature of under immature …plus i don’t have any more medicine to take if they are not right size at the time of scan , unless they prescribe me more there and then … I will trust the clinic , I’m sure they have to be very very sure it will work if they are positive enough not to scan me in between.. and I’m sure they have it done it hundreds of times ro other people to be that sure .. I’m just taking one day at a time , I have no Idea time wise what to expect after my scan , it doesn’t seem far away at all and I’m so exited ! Keep me updated about your journey and I will too would be nice to know how you get on too . Hopefully we both get pregnant first time , that would be amazing !!!

Completely agree we should take it one day at a time, no need to worry about something that's not even happening yet.

@ngy21 hey just checking in how are you doing ? Hopefully you’re cycle has started ? I am on day 9 of injections now , started the second injection 3 days ago. The second injection fyremadel burns like hell and leaves like a red rash around the injection site that goes within few hours and the needle is so thick I find it so hard to push it though the skin , I hate that injection . Ovaleap is so easy compared to fyremadel . I don’t have many side affects , only had bit of headache first few days on ovaleap , now my body’s used to it so no more headaches . Friday is my first scan so I’m very anxious because I haven’t had any check up scans yet . How is thing on your end ?

@ShareLove hey! I am doing ok thanks - and oh dear! the second injection doesnt sound like fun at all.... i'm glad you mention ovaleap is easy as that would be my other injection, and good that your headaches are going as well!

My new cycle has started over the weekend so my first scan is booked in on the 31st to see if my body has down regulated! And hoping to start stims on the same day or following day depending on scan - which by then i think you would be in the EC phase?!

I am still on my buserelin shots - and they have been good until last night... headache kicked in so thought i could sleep it off but its been hanging around all day today. I almost feel like i can feel the buserelin blocking out the signal for my natural LH and FSH hormones in my brain which is causing the head ache lolol

Other than that - nothing new to report on until the 31st!!! Friday is your day 11/12 scan??? Will they be letting you know when to trigger on Friday?

@ngy21 hey , so your new cycle started over the weekend , so what day in the cycle would you start your injections ? I had to start mine on day 2 and I’m glad your cycle started now you can look forward to the 31 st yay not too long !! And yes my Scan is on Friday which will be day 11 of the cycle but day 10on injections , I keep getting twinges and tiny pains in my ovaries and way too much fertile mucus I feel like I’m ovulating already but I know It’s normal to feel like this so I don’t worry . And I hope on Friday they will tell me when is egg collection and trigger shot I’m hoping that everything is as it should be , that’s My main concern as I haven’t had any check up scans so who knows what’s going on inside me I’m feeling very emotional today for some reason , maybe the injections as I’m coming towards the end of my injections , I feel so negative that it’s not going to work and next minute I have hope again that maybe it will work ! Thanks for keeping me updated ! I can’t talk to anybody about my ivf in real life as it’s a secret so it’s reallllly nice to talk to you , so thank you for that !!!
