IVF , do you inject ovaleap injection in thigh or tummy?

@ShareLove aww no worries! Same for me, I am in same boat - only recently told my in laws as my husband felt that he wanted to let them in on it. But it's just better to speak with people who are actually in the same position!

Good luck for your scan on Friday! I am excited for you. At least you will have a professional update and progress report which hopefully will put your mind more at ease.

Although my new cycle started over the weekend, before I start any stims I need to scan to see if my system has shut down. As it's long protocol I don't start stims on CD2 like most short protocols.

Once they confirm that my whole system has shut down they basically take control over everything 😶😶😶 hopefully will start stims on 31st for 12 days.

I get what you mean tho, sometimes you are filled with hope and positivity and times there are doubts and lots of what ifs.

Let's just get over the first hurdle, which is healthy eggs and embryos!

@ngy21 heyyyy! I hope you are doing well and looking forward to start your ivf journey I have been for my scan today and they counted 24 follicles which puts me in a risk of OHSS , this has been my first scan since I started injecting . The biggest follicle was 24mm and the rest were smaller like 12-22mm ect so thats good really, I guess I’ll get like 15 eggs or maybe less … all won’t probably be mature enough I am now worried about the over stimulation and having to cancel fresh cycle ! Obviously I will have to if they say , to keep myself safe , that’s the most important . My egg collection is on Monday !!! so I am happy to at least get the eggs out ! I’m surprised when they said 24 follicles as I am not feeling any pain or anything so the nurse was also surprised that I didn’t feel uncomfortable or pain nurse gave me 2 more fyremadel to take today and tomorrow to stop ovulation . And tomorrow night is trigger tooo she give me different trigger shot as I am high risk for OHHS which she didn’t think I would be when I first started . And I have to take my trigger gonasi back to hospital to them . So basically like I said it’s all positive so far ! Hopefully no overstimulation and I can do fresh cycle but if not then freeze all which is also ok as I want to be safe ! So if they scanned me earlier I wonder if they could of prevented the OHHS ??? They only scanned me once I finished all the meds which put me at Risk .. that’s the reason I wanted to get scanned in the middle of my injections to see if I need to reduce my dose or not but it is what it is it’s done now and hopefully they learn from it next time .

24 follicles omg!!! That's amazing! Have you had scans before to show how many you had before meds?

Hopefully there won't be any OHSS esp if you aren't feeling uncomfortable or anything - i have seen some peoples journeys where they felt uncomfortable towards the last few shots and it seems to be linked to OHSS. Hopefully all your eggs are mega good quality!

How did your EC go?!!!! Sorry i haven;t asked earlier! I hope you're recovering well!!!! did they tell you about the OHSS and fertilised egg results? I am going in for my down reg scan today... finally!!!! Just nervous if they say nothing has worked or i haven't responded well.

Now anxiously waiting for a call to see how many have fertilised !!! You don’t belive how hard it is after egg collection to wait for a call about the eggs , it’s so nerve wracking , for me the hardest part of ivf yet yesterday egg collection went very well but not so well for my partner he had to give sperm sample there and then and the room and so creepy and he had a small sample , because he said he was forcing himself so didn’t get a good sample and he spilled a bit because it was so uncomftable it there to do it . But the embryologist said that sample was bordline so OK but not best ! All the other samples he’s given before has been really good because he’s done them at home but this time there was a lot of pressure . So I’m keeping my fingers crossed for good news today ! Oh and also the embryologist is doing 7 eggs natural ivf in a dish and 10 eggs with ICSI ( inject the sperm into the egg ) for better chances for fertilisation because of the low amount of sperm sample that we had . I’m happy for you that you can finally start your journey wow good luck today

@ShareLove 17!!! Wow! That's a really good number - i remember during checks etc, before starting and meds, i had around 16 follicles so hoping the stims will give me an extra few so more chance of getting eggies.

I can imagine how hard it is to wait for the call!!! Once you get your results... it'll then be the hard wait of the embryos turning in blast... then the transfer... and dreaded TWW... (never ending!)

I think my husband is dreading his part too... but last time he gave a sample for testing was in the hospital, he still managed. But i think this time it's just the added pressure that a sample is needed there and then lol!

And yes! Fingers crossed i can start them today, she did say it was today or tomorrow depending on the scan.

Did the docs say anything about OHSS? Or are you just going to recover and they will check/test later on the week to see if you have OHSS?

@ngy21 how exiting for you ! Today or tomorrow not a big difference so at least you can start and let’s hope for good results ! 16 follicles is good actually , because you don’t want too many because of the risk of OHHS and also the quality might not be as good if there is too many ! That’s my main worrie with my own eggs , maybe not the best quality because I had quite many . But about the OHHS, I am not 100% sure if it will be fresh cycle or frozen , the nurse told me as of today they will be going with fresh cycle and I’m taking progesterone etc to prepare the lining as if I will Be transferring the embryo this week but if anything changes like I start to feel ill or if blood test comes back with bad results then maybe they will cancel the fresh cycle . But as of today , I am going for a fresh unless anything bad pops up before transfer . They took my blood yesterday so I’m not sure what for so I’m just in limbo waiting to see if it’s fresh transfer or frozen depending on the blood tests and how I feel. Double trouble for me waiting for results of embryos and waiting to see if I can transfer this week or not I haven’t taken any pain killers after egg collection as I am not in pain at all , just bit sore when moving twisting about but I think that’s normal hopefully it won’t get worse

@ngy21 heyyy ! Just got a call from clinic and out of 17 eggs , 13 fertilised 10 eggs were injected by ICSI and 6 out of 10 fertilised and 7 eggs were left with sperm in a dish to fertilise and all 7 made it ! I’m sooo happy ! 13 embryos so far ! Now hoping they will keep growing ! I know it’s normal to lose some after feeling days but I’m hoping for the best ! Good luck to you today let me know how you get on !!!

13 is such a huge number, well done to you guys! Any news on your bloods yet, if you are still proceeding with fresh transfer?

Fingers crossed for you and the embryos! Yea it is normal for some to drop off along the way but hope you will have lots of healthy blasts and lots to freeze!

I just came back from my appointment, i will be starting stims tomorrow with a EC estimated Mon 13th or Weds 15th! Nurse said i probably wont need the full 12 days stims as I have quite a few follicles. But we will know for sure when I go in for day 10 scan.

Excited I finally have more solid dates!!!!

@ngy21 looks like great news for both of us and yes I’m very happy so far with my numbers what I got ! And wow you starting tomorrow how exiting , before you know it , you’ll be in for egg collection in 2 weeks time I hope you are ready for your injections they are the easiest bit of ivf I find , you’ll be absolutely fine ! Can’t wait to hear about how many follicles and egg you will get , hopefully a good amount let me know how your first injection goes my next update is tomorrow morning at 9 , to see if they have divided into 2 cells , after around 30 hours they turn Into 2 cells but at the beginning they are just 1 cell can’t wait ! I was panicking when they called I feared the worst , but straight away she said good news so I was happy to listen !

@ngy21 and no , no news about my transfer yet ! Not sure what to expect or if someone will ring me closer to transfer time to discuss it , I’m just going with the flow day by day . I’m sure they will ring me sometime this week to go over everything and my blood test

@ShareLove as weird as it sounds, im looking forward to the stims injections cus they look very simple and needle is shorter - and with you confirming this as well just makes me think it will be super easy!
I think i am a bit nervous for EC, as i don't think i've ever been "out" for any types of surgery before... did you get put under for the procedure?

I will keep you posted on my first injection tomorrow.... i expect to feel more side effects on stims as i usually can feel ovulation pains without meds, can't imagine how much more exaggerated the feeling would be whilst on stims!

@ngy21 , I actually loved doing my injection because I knew I was one day closer to egg collection the second injection fyremadel stinged a bit but not too bad ! And yes I was so scared for egg collection and I wouldn’t say it was very nice experience ! Yes they put me to sleep on medicine but I didn’t fall asleep straight away and I could feel the needle poking around inside me and it bloody hurt and I was moving my legs so much so they gave me more medicine so I fall asleep and stay still !!! But after I fell asleep I didn’t feel a thing and recovery was very good straight away no pain nothing . And trust me the same day when I went for egg collection I couldn’t walk very well my ovaries were hurting so much like ovulation pain , very uncomftable and painful and I couldn’t wait to get the eggs out !! As soon as the eggs were out i felt so good ! I wouldn’t not do egg collection any more without me being asleep first ! I think because I had so many eggs my ovaries were so tender that when they poked me with needle it was super painful

The reason why my ovaries hurt so much on egg collection day is all because of the trigger shot making me want to ovulate but obviously they take the eggs before I ovulate

And I don’t want to scare you at all I just wanted to let you know my journey of egg collection just to warn you in a nice way

I don't need to do the fyremadel, thankfully lol! But your EC doesn't sound as easy as other people... I wonder what my clinic does... i'm a bit scared of being able to sense/feel when im suppose to be "out".

Are you on your pessaries now? How are you finding them??

@ShareLove appreciate your gentle warning! i guess i can be more prepared. Was telling my partner the injections are definitely the easiest part, it's the EC and then the waiting i think is gonna be more mentally draining

@ngy21 hey yes I am on pessaries now and I find them soooo easy no problem at all !
I’m also on estradiol hormone tablets ! So it looks like my fresh transfer will be taking place on Saturday on day 5 ! had a call today and the 13 embryos all have divided and 11 of them are great quality and 2 of them not so good , so I have 11 growing beautifully ! She also said that with me having 11 good quality ones , I should have no problem getting some to day 5 for Saturday ! So exited I have to go on my own with out my partner but it’s okay I hope your injection goes well today are you doing them between 7-9pm or early morning ?

11 is a very high number! And it looks like you won't need to worry about another EC since you have so many embryos! I'd love to be in your position it just takes off so much pressure.

Glad to know your pessaries aren't too bad. Are you doing them 3 times a day? It just sounds inconvenient... and I checked my boxes, i have same as you, 4 weeks worth. But in my notes it says to do them for 6 weeks. Whats the estradiol for???? Is this something you will need to take for the same length of time as your progesterone?

So good to hear you can do your fresh transfer on Day 5. Fingers crossed for you for Saturday! Do you get anymore updates now or do you just show up to your appointment on Saturday?

I am doing my injection in the evening! 8pm same as my buserelin. Excited! Just want this week to go by quick so I can have my first scan on Wednesday and get a more clear idea of when EC will be.

Im doing my progesterone pessaries at night time before bed , all 3 pessaries 600mg at the same time , this is what my nurse told me to do . It doesn’t matter she said how you do it really as it works out the same and I find doing it once at night is so much better !
And don’t worry about having 4 weeks worth of pessaries , im sure they will give you more once they know you’re pregnant .

They didn’t give me everything (medicine) I needed until I got to the point where I
needed it like the estradiol tablets .

I got given the estradiol tablets at my egg collection day and was told to take them for 3 weeks from egg collection day , she said it’s to help thicken the lining in the uterus and keep it thick for the embryo
If I get pregnant I’m not sure if they’ll give me more of these or if that’s it for that after 3 weeks . 3 weeks from now takes me to pregnancy test so maybe no more after that I’m not sure

Half of the time I don’t even know why I’m taking something , I just take it and go along with it , whatever they say I do even if I’m not sure why I’m doing it too much information for me and they don’t really explain as well unless I ask myself .

The embryologist said if they don’t call me tomorrow then take it as a good news and just turn up on Saturday for egg transfer .
I’m still a bit confused as why they not checking how I’m feeling or if iv developed OHSS or not LOL

All 3 pessaries at the same time???! does it not get uncomfortable?!! you know what tho... i'd like to do that too if they allow me cus just doing it every 8 hours is just a bit inconvenient... and yes hopefully they will supply more if i do get a positive! I imagine we would have to go in for early scans anyway?

I wonder if i'd need the tablets as well, and at least they are tablets so easy to take! I hope they don't have alternatives lol - 3 weeks arent too bad. Are you on any pre-natal vitamins too? Im currently taking CoQ10, Vit D and Folic acid

My first ovaleap injection was alright, though when i pressed the green bit on the side i didn't realise it needed time to slowly inject in (i had tested it before without using the medication, and cus i only turned it to 12.5??? units, the click of the green button on the side went really quick so i thought with 150 units it would do the same lol!!) I panicked a little and checked to see if any meds were injected and it was so all good!

I agree the ovaleap is much easier. I did hesitate a bit at first cus it was a cold med and wasnt sure if it would hurt.

How did you do 2 injections? both on same side?? I have been alternating everyday but yesterday after my first shot, my right side felt a bit sore so had to do ova on the other side

@ShareLove my scans are on day 8 and 10, so next wednesday and friday. Hoping on Friday they will allow me to trigger on Saturday for EC Monday 13th!

I'm excited and nervous at the same time... worried i won't get enough eggs of quality and no embys.... but i'm gonna stay focused on where i am at now. no point worrying about something that is 2 weeks away!

@ngy21 yes 3 pessaries at the same time and no it’s not uncomftable at all because they are not too big in size I don’t even feel them . I do it just before I go to sleep if yours are the same brand utrogestan then I don’t see why you can’t do it all at once ! My nurse actually recommend me to do this because you body can absorb it well while you sleep .
Yes I am on vitamins B complex by country life , D3+K2 , omega 3 by aavalabs , ubiquinal 100mg , much better version than Coq10 , vitamin C by aavalabs , all these are really good quality vitamins ! I stopped the coq10 (ubiquinal) because the eggs are already out now
I haven’t had a call so it must be good news
And I know what you mean about the ovaleap pen I was also confused at first haha , it’s so weird how it goes out from the pen I made sure the 150iu turned back to 0 iu on the window before I took the needle out
Did you leave the ovaleap pen out for 10-15 min before injection? To get to room temperature ?
I did my ovaleap in my thigh as directed by my nurse and I did fyremadel into belly ! And yes I did different sides every day for both leg and belly
