FET September

Not sure if there is already a sept thread running?

I'm due to start down reg on the 16th looking to transfer September.
My last transfer was April, I've name changed since then. Last fet failed, I had issues getting my lining up to a suitable thickness and in the end they transferred at 8mm. I had spotting on and off and then I had an extremely faint positive, that same day I started bleeding heavily and it was all over.
I have 8 embryos left and just want to get going again now!

Anyone else starting a fet soon? Would be nice to have people to chat with whilst going through this again 😊

Hi @whatagloriousthingtobe

I’m due to start my first FET in September as well. I’m doing a ‘natural’ FET so no down regulation for me but I believe I will be taking progesterone along with pred, aspirin and clexane.

That’s amazing you have 8 embryos left. Fingers crossed this one works! Have your clinic recommended anything to help increase your lining this time?

whatagloriousthingtobe · 05/08/2021 12:28

Hi @CurlyJ21 good luck for your first fet! How many embryos do you have ?

They have upped my oestrogen, so I'll be taking in total 16mg of estradol orally and vaginally plus I'll be using patches. Before they gradually upped the estradol but it didn't help so they have decided to go full whack from the off this time, so it's 🤞🏻

That’s great news they are trying something different. With a medicated FET, what day do they aim to transfer?

I have 5 embryos. I’ve done two rounds of ivf so far. The first we only got two embryos and both were transferred on day 3 because they weren’t progressing that well. Unsurprisingly it didn’t work. We were so happy to get 5 blastocysts from the second round but I was at risk of developing OHSS so ended up freezing them all.

Im so keen to get started now but feeling anxious about the whole thing!

whatagloriousthingtobe · 05/08/2021 20:42

@CurlyJ21 sorry just looked and it's actually 20mg this time plus patches, so quite a lot ! Let's hope it helps eh!

5 is a great number of embryos, it's nice to know you have some extra isn't it. Even though we always want the first one to stick!
When did you first start this journey ?

whatagloriousthingtobe · 05/08/2021 20:53

Sorry forgot to answer your question. From my understanding and what the nurses told me they completely take over your cycle with a medicated fet, so it's out of the window and to forget the cycle days! I ended up transferring on day 28 which I thought was pretty late but apparently it doesn't matter @CurlyJ21

Hi @whatagloriousthingtobe

Just checking in to see how your down reg etc is going. Do you know when your transfer is likely to be? I’ve everything crossed for you!

Dalooah · 03/09/2021 18:05

I'm jumping in on here too. Got my FET booked in two weeks. Feeling nervous.

CurlyJ21 · 03/09/2021 18:29

Welcome @Dalooah!

Is this your first FET? I had my baseline scan today so I’m gearing up for my FET in approx 3 weeks

Dalooah · 03/09/2021 19:09

It's my second, had a failed one in 2018. A fresh cycle in 2019, from which we have one embryo left. Just one wee little one. Just hoping it sticks this time!

Faithful789 · 04/09/2021 09:18

Hi,

Hope you don’t mind if I join. Due to have a natural cycle FET this month. I developed OHSS during a fresh cycle, then had a FET in July which was a BFN! So here I go again, hoping for success this time 🙏.

Didn’t want to join a group but then had second thoughts. It’s nice for people to come together who are going through the same thing, we can support one another.

Alexm06 · 04/09/2021 16:09

Hey guys hope you don't mind me joining!
I have just had my follow up appointment and have the all clear to start my last NHS transfer on my next cycle which is in 9 days!
I had my first cycle last year which ended in a missed miscarriage. Didn't get any frozen then had another cycle in May as I had a cyst so they wouldn't start me in feb on stims.
Finally got 6 frozen but that cycle ended in a negative then a frozen cycle in July where I lost one egg in defrost and then also negative.
My clinic are now allowing me to have 2 put back in this time so I hope they survive defrost this time as I know have 3 left.

whatagloriousthingtobe · 04/09/2021 18:05

Hi @CurlyJ21 I didn't start bleeding until day 18 of down regulating ! So the morning of my scan! I still went and they said my lining was at 6mm (thin! Not that I'm suprised) and I need to go back Tuesday to see if it's all gone and then hopefully can start the tablets and patches. I'm thinking the start of October, they don't give us dates as things change don't they.

How're you getting on?

Welcome @Dalooah good luck for your fet!

@Faithful789 I had the same thoughts as it was hard last time watching people get positives but as you said it's nice to have support and others in the same position to talk to about this, my partner is great and understanding but it's not quite the same !

@Alexm06 welcome !! So sorry about your missed miscarriage. Wishing you all the luck for this time 🤞🏻

Since my period started I've been having hot flushes but nothing too major. I'm just really keen to get going this time, I was obviously devastated the last one failed but got to try and stay positive haven't we, I try too but my lining doesn't play ball and that obviously worries me !

OP posts:
Faithful789 · 05/09/2021 11:41

@whatagloriousthingtobe not the best start for you but hoping it all gets better from Tuesday and you can start your patches/ tablets. It’s nice to have a supportive partner, mine is also supportive but like you said it’s not the same. They just don’t quite get it like we do (bless them).

I also had lining issues during my last transfer. It was nearly cancelled but was call in for a last minute scan and my lining went from 5mm to 10mm. I have a day 10 scan on Wednesday so the journey begins again.

Happy to have this small group of women to chat with as we have all been through a similar journey. Praying that our planned transfers go smoothly and we all get a BFP 🙏

whatagloriousthingtobe · 05/09/2021 14:51

@Faithful789 bit of a nightmare really, I bled bang on 7 days after starting buserelin last time so I (probably naively) expected the same thing to happen again this time !

Wow that was a relief then and a big jump!!Can I ask was you taking tablets etc last time or did you do anything differently to help get your lining up? My first fet was cancelled due to my lining not responding, the second it only got to 8mm but they decided to go for it and it failed. So 3rd time lucky I hope !

I find it so frustrating, as I'm sure we all do, because I already have a dc who I conceived without trying but after years of not being careful iyswim. So I really believe he is my little miracle as since then nothing at all. And since we've started the ivf and I've had trouble with my lining I think that's probably been my issue all along.

CurlyJ21 · 05/09/2021 17:02

@whatagloriousthingtobe that’s really annoying about the delay but hopefully everything will go smoothly from now on!

I had my day 3 scan on Friday and everything was fine. Have to go for another on day 9 (Thursday next week) to check that my lining is moving in the right direction etc. Have to start steroids on Tuesday too which I’m not looking forward to as they affect my sleep. Just trying to take it one day at a time atm.

Faithful789 · 06/09/2021 10:13

@whatagloriousthingtobe it was a natural cycle so no tablets. I just took vitamin E and drank loads of raspberry tea and pomegranate juice. I can’t say for sure if the above contributed to the increase but at the time I was so desperate to not have the transfer cancelled I tried anything to get the lining thicker.

Having said that they do have on records that my lining has passed 8mm in previous scans so I don’t know what happened during that cycle. I just hope this time around it will be more straightforward.

Dalooah · 06/09/2021 14:01

How's everyone getting on? I'm finding myself feeling incredibly tired; I'm putting it down to the meds. Im on 6mg of oestrogen daily, and it feels like a lot!

whatagloriousthingtobe · 06/09/2021 21:19

@CurlyJ21 what are the steroids for ? That's all we can do isn't it. My hot flushes are getting more frequent and this hot weather isn't helping either 😆

@Faithful789 oh yes I know that feeling!! I tried all that too last time and for me it didn't make a difference ! I still have loads of raspberry leaf tea left so I might as well drink that ! I think sometimes we can have random cycles like that even naturally. I remember having a scan when I was taking clomid and my lining was over 9mm so who knows what's happened in the last few years !

@Dalooah I can't remember if it made me tired last time ? I did get more headaches than usual though.
I'll be on 16mg all together this time round.
When did you start them ?

I have my down reg scan in the morning again, hopefully it's all gone and can start the tablets !

whatagloriousthingtobe · 07/09/2021 11:45

Had my scan and i'm all good to start my tablets etc tomorrow 👍🏻 how's everyone doing ?

Prayingforabubba · 07/09/2021 22:28

Hi everyone, I hope it's okay to join?

I've had two cycles for ivf. First round- 0 fertilised
Second round- 1 blast and 1 3 day embryo frozen.

I've got my appointment on Monday to get the ball rolling for my FET! Excited but nervous as it's a day 6 blast so was a slow grower c

whatagloriousthingtobe · 08/09/2021 10:09

@Prayingforabubba hi and welcome !! Wishing you lots of luck with this fet 🤞🏻🤞🏻 I hope we can all use this thread as a place to support each other and vent etc

CurlyJ21 · 08/09/2021 10:48

Welcome @Prayingforabubba

@whatagloriousthingtobe good news on your scan! How is day 1 of your tablets going?

Steroids are to treat high NK cells. I’ve had two previous miscarriages so the steroids are to help control the level of NK cells. I’m not entirely convinced but I’m willing to give anything a shot at this stage!

Francesca6 · 08/09/2021 11:51

Hi everyone. Hope you don’t mind me chiming in!

I’m starting my FET this month too. Just did my first cycle and got the bad news yesterday. I couldn’t answer the call so had to get my husband to call them. I’ve been an emotional wreck. I put so much into this and it’s taken 6 surgeries and 18 months to get to this point.

I am very lucky to have a little girl who is 3.

Best of luck to everyone. Looking forward to some positive updates.

Faithful789 · 08/09/2021 16:43

Hi everyone and welcome to the new joiners!

I had my Day 10 scan and my lining is still very thin and no dominant follicle growing. I have to go back next week to check for progression. Hoping it’s a delayed cycle and I’ll start to see movement next week. I had the same issues with my lining during my last FET. Trying to stay hopeful but I also have it in mind that it may get cancelled.

Prayingforabubba · 08/09/2021 21:02

@Francesca6 so sorry to hear you've had a rough day. Hoping you feel better x

@Faithful789 isn't there anything the clinic can give you to help with your lining?

Eager to have my consultation next week as I have no idea how. FET cycle works
