FET September

whatagloriousthingtobe · 05/08/2021 08:49

Not sure if there is already a sept thread running?

I'm due to start down reg on the 16th looking to transfer September.
My last transfer was April, I've name changed since then. Last fet failed, I had issues getting my lining up to a suitable thickness and in the end they transferred at 8mm. I had spotting on and off and then I had an extremely faint positive, that same day I started bleeding heavily and it was all over.
I have 8 embryos left and just want to get going again now!

Anyone else starting a fet soon? Would be nice to have people to chat with whilst going through this again 😊
@Faithful789 That's fab news!! And sometimes things do just move that quick! Woohoo! When's your transfer booked for?

@whatagloriousthingtobe Hope you're thinking positive for a lovely lining. When are they going to be checking?

2dpt and every twinge is causing me anxiety. And the last two days have felt long. I'm currently googling whether I should test early or not. 🤦‍♀️ I know I shouldn't but I don't think I can help myself. It's sort of like the gradual build up to the official test day and being given time to come to terms with the result?
Hope your TWW goes faster, it's dire!

Personally I'm a daily, or twice daily tester. I prefer to be let down easily and over examine "lines" that may or may not exist rather than come crashing down on official test day. At least if you test now and it's negative you can put it down to being too early.....

(It's definitely too early) 🥰

CurlyJ21 · 16/09/2021 20:55

@Faithful789 that’s great news! Your lining must need the pressure to perform 😂

@Dalooah I hope your tww speeds up. When is your official test day?

Dalooah · 17/09/2021 07:33

@summerson That's really great, 100% agree with you that I'd rather be let down easy over a few days. I feel the need to start testing ASAP off to buy tests this morning 🤪

Official test day isn't till next Sunday so quite a while to go.....

whatagloriousthingtobe · 17/09/2021 07:46

@Dalooah My scan day is monday that'll be day 13 so let's just see where it's at! The extra estrogen really knocked me about for a few days so I'm hoping that it was worth it 😆
Ahh, this part is so so hard, anaylizing absolutely everything !!

@Dalooah I will be having my transfer on Tuesday. I don’t know what time yet still waiting for the call.

@CurlyJ21 that’s a new way to look at it 😂. I think my lining feels the stress I get when I start to get anxious about cancelling a cycle.

I am trying to keep calm for the transfer. This journey is so nerve wracking it’s hard not to overthink sometimes.

Prayingforabubba · 17/09/2021 22:12

@whatagloriousthingtobe no down regulation just oestrogen tablets.

@Dalooah congratulations on your transfer. Fingers crossed 🤞 for a calm and quick TWW x

@summerson I've started taking Larginine 1000mg. Is that enough or did you take more? Glad to hear you've had twin successful transfers on 6.5mm! That's amazing.

@Faithful789 that's amazing growth in a few days! Amazing what the body can do . Good luck for your transfer on Tuesday x

Is anyone transferring two embryos.

I can't remember what I took, more than 1000mg I'm sure, it was supposed to be A LOT ... let me check. I had successful transfers on 2 separate occasions, not transferring two embryos (just to clarify when you mentioned twin!)

I'll be just transferring one (hopefully) this cycle.... CD6 so far and just on estrogen and vitamin E... still waiting for my L-Argenine to arrive.

Going to check the website now....

Here's the link, use at your own risk! ConfusedSmile

I also take extra Vitamin D but a small 1000iu dose because it's in my pre-natal already. I also have coQ10 but the ones I got are quite high dose so I don't take daily.

Prayingforabubba · 18/09/2021 22:27

@summerson oops sorry! Don't know where I got twins from. Thanks for the link, I'll have a look now x

Csparkles · 20/09/2021 11:13

Hi all can I join too..
This will be my first transfer. I had to have a freeze all last month due to OHSS. I have just started my estrogen tablets today. Progress scan next week and transfer scheduled for the week after.

whatagloriousthingtobe · 20/09/2021 11:23

@Csparkles welcome 🙋🏼‍♀️

Well I've had a shit morning. First of all I failed my driving test and my lining is only at 7.8mm and that's after being on the max dose of estrogen. The drugs don't help but I feel so sad

@whatagloriousthingtobe
That's so annoying it took me 3 times to pass mine hahaha I was 18 so that was 14 years ago I can only imagine it's got harder. Can't the just transfer its soo close to 8mm surely it can't make that much difference?

whatagloriousthingtobe · 20/09/2021 12:15

@Alexm06 honestly was a stupid mistake on my part I blame nerves !
Well they're Gona rescan me Thursday and see if I'm just over 8mm, if not I've got a fight on my hands for transfer ! Their policy is 8mm so don't know how it works if I haven't shifted from 7.8 🤷🏼‍♀️

Hope you get it. Are you private? All my treatment has been private you I have been able to put my foot down a bit.

🤞🤞

summerson · 20/09/2021 17:19

@whatagloriousthingtobe everything crossed for Thursday. I've got my first monitoring scan oVer the weekend.

I started spotting again yesterday and today after 3(?) days of no bleeding so I don't know where that leaves me as I haven't had this previously.

whatagloriousthingtobe · 20/09/2021 17:37

@summerson yeah I'm private, with care fertility. My main argument point will be that I've got 8 embryos and I'm willing to risk it if they feel it won't work. My partner wants me to tell them to put 2 in but I'm only 31 so I can't see them wanting to do that !!

Where are you on your journey?

OP posts:
Alexm06 · 20/09/2021 17:47

@whatagloriousthingtobe
Yeah my test my foot was shaking on the clutch the whole time haha.
Yeah I would defo fight for it! I would think they would as your private I know nhs can be a bit difficult as they have certain rules. Is this your first transfer? I'm about to have my 4th last one on nhs and I'm 32 and they are letting me transfer 2 this time so you might be able to do it

whatagloriousthingtobe · 20/09/2021 18:05

@Alexm06 oh that's reassuring ! Can I ask why they are letting you transfer two?

OP posts:
summerson · 20/09/2021 18:10

@whatagloriousthingtobe

Hopefully since you're private they will let you be the driver on this one, if you have "spare" embryos I don't see why not. I have managed to put my foot down on a few things with my clinic such as extra tests and taking a punt on a cycle etc.

I have a child from IVF in 2015 which was a first time Fresh cycle.

TTC#2 has so far taken me through:
FET (sept2020)
Fresh cycle & transfer (feb 2021)
Cancelled cycle (no response) (March 2021)
FET (MMC) (May 2021)

And now on CD8 of another FET (Sept 2021)... so hopefully fifth time lucky 🍀 I'm 37 but will only be transferring one. Personally I wouldn't risk twins and I feel like GETTING pregnant and to transfer is my problem rather than sustaining a pregnancy (besides the MMC which I think was just bad luck). We are unexplained infertility.

Hopefully this is the one. I have three embryos left in this batch and hope to hell one of those takes or I fear for my mental health.

I honestly thought last September that my first FET would just work. ShockHmm

Alexm06 · 20/09/2021 18:25

@whatagloriousthingtobe I think because it's my 4th transfer.
My first one ended in a missed miscarriage that was with a 5AB graded embryo then I've have another 2 transfers which failed both 4AA. I have another 2 4AA and 1 4AB left we lost one on defrost last time so we are expecting that again. So yeah I guess because the embryos have been good just not sticking. They have no reason for it as we are unexplained. I think they thought it was just work again after it in their word worked the first time but yeah no luck so I just asked for 2 this time as it's the last NHS. If it doesn't work this time we will be moving clinics as my friend goes to a different one which seems better.

summerson · 20/09/2021 18:36

@Alexm06

What happens exactly when you "lose one on defrost"? Do they quickly thaw another? Or is the whole cycle canned due to bad timing? Did they thaw two last time?

In Sept2020 the one they thawed my consultant said was poor so he thawed another and had me come back the next day. But I'm not sure that's "right" as I was on 6 days of progesterone but transferring a day 5 embryo. Anyway it didn't work.

I don't know the exact grading of my remaining embryos I think I have 1 x 4?? And 2 x 3?? The good ones have been used...

whatagloriousthingtobe · 20/09/2021 19:11

@summerson I'm hoping it doesn't come to that, the nurse said in this cycle day last fet I was 7.4mm so I'm a little ahead this time and she doesn't see why it wouldn't get just over 8mm, but we shall see, I don't want to get my hopes up. I just feel deflated with it all today, wondering if this is the reason all along we haven't been able to conceive these last 6 years.

You've been through the mill haven't you! Sorry you've had a hard time. It's so shit isn't it, all the waiting and wondering, then having our hopes dashed. And not to mention the physical side effects from the drugs on top of all that!
Yeah I also thought my first fet would work and all would be fine, then it got cancelled and completely blindsided me. I really hope this is the one for you 💕

@Alexm06 Sorry about your mmc.
You know I'm not even sure the exact grading of mine! They just said 3 of them were rated 10 which is apparently the best they can be and then the rest are basically alright.
Have you ever thought about getting them tested ? I couldn't personally as we've already paid a fortune for this but would be good to know what's going on inside them rather than going off the grades.
I guess if you don't ask you don't get! Fair play to you. This is my 3rd transfer but first one got cancelled so I guess technically my second but third time my lining hasn't responded well.

OP posts:
Alexm06 · 20/09/2021 19:52

@summerson yeah I think they start thawing in the morning. I think they said to me they take an hour to defrost and can last the day so yeah my last transfer was at half 10 so they would have had to have time incase the first one didn't work so had 2 thawed in the end. Ohhh yeah I defo didn't do that. Maybe they didn't start defrosting the first one in time.

@whatagloriousthingtobe yeah i have thought about it but yeah I know it a bit of money. It will probably be a question I will ask if this doesn't work and I get a good batch next time as well. Ohh maybe that's why. I would think they may allow it if you have to have any other transfers but hopefully this one will work for you.

Faithful789 · 20/09/2021 20:59

@Csparkles welcome to the group!

@whatagloriousthingtobe sorry to hear you have had a tough day. Don’t give up on the driving book another test straight away, it’s the best way to get through it. It took me a few goes before I passed my test.

In regards to your lining, remain hopeful you never know how things will change in a few days. Look at my situation and I totally agree with putting your foot down on transferring because my clinic also have a 8mm policy but one nurse told me in some circumstances where someone has issues reaching >8mm, 7mm is the minimal they will accept to transfer.

I have my transfer tomorrow and I’m very nervous and have started to feel like I’m getting cystitis don’t know if it’s the cyclogest. Every cramp or pressure just gets me anxious

This is not an easy journey to go through you just worry about everything. Keeping everyone is my prayers 🙏.

summerson · 21/09/2021 04:50

@Faithful789 good luck for your transfer today!

Smile. Thinking of you and hope it's smooth and easy.

Do any of you take anything before transfer: ibuprofen etc? What are you or your clinics thoughts on ibuprofen, considering it's a no-no in actual pregnancy?

My last transfer was painless and easy but the one before was f*%king horrendously painful.... the ones before that were meh, not great not awful.
