Currently 3dp5dt! Going crazy here. Keep thinking what will be will be. But I just wish I could see what is going on in there.
Anyone else in the tww? When is your OTD?

@Bella1984
If im honest ive found being with belfast fertility trying, lack of continuity of care not having one consultant or even named nurse that oversees the big picture or that you can talk to. With some of the consultants but not all its very much having the procedures done to you and have left me not feeling like im part of the decision making, but you have to take who you get on the day without choice or who you feel most comfortable with, all of that has left me feeling like i have no say or control in this process, although individually alot are very nice for example one consultant who i saw first 4 years ago i havent seen in 2 years and dont know if he is even still there, while one consultant that i dont get on with and dont agree with i have seen and stress going to an appointment incase he is the consultant on that day, a more 'joined up' process would be better.

Danni02 · 22/04/2021 09:43

@Bella1984 if you ever want a chat dont hesitate, my friends have all partners and either no interest in becoming parents yet or are popping them out, i actually had to block a friend on my newsfeed last night for 30 days as every picture is her now 3 month son, im happy for her but dont think she should be posting him every second of the day, and it hurt to look at😔

Bella1984 · 22/04/2021 09:54

I completely agree @Danni02!

Continuity of care is not great. I understand ivf is so time sensitive and the clinic is open 365 days a year but there are so many consultants it's crazy.

I literally have never seen the same one twice bar one who did one USS and my EC this cycle. He is amazing as is the consultant who did my 2nd ET. He used ultrasound & showed us exactly where the embryo was going and we watched it like a wee shooting star on the screen it was amazing! 💫 My first ET the consultant didn't even use US! And it was unsuccessful so still to this day annoys me as at that time I didn't know that was normal / good practice.

There should not be such a difference in level of care based on the luck of who you get on the day!

I have highlighted this to the general manager in a very long phone call yesterday. One consultant I will not name I am considering a formal complaint against regarding how he has dealt with my request for a shielding letter for work now I'm pregnant (I work in a high risk covid hospital!) The general manager was actually very helpful and understanding. He is to come back to me by tomorrow with a response 🤞

Did you ever encounter the Spanish embryologist? He is an absolute dream of a human being! Even serenaded our developing embryos at my request 😂

Being a clinician myself I have been disappointed with a number of aspects of our treatment. I will be writing a letter to them once we are discharged!

We spent 9k including meds on first cycle thinking we would get embryos to freeze seeing as j was told I was super fertile with loads of good follicles. We got none. We then paid 10.5k to Access Fertility for 3 cycles of ICSI, not including meds. Essentially if we get a live birth this cycle then those 2 cycles are done. If we don't then we can do another cycle at no extra cost. We decided it was worth the extra money to take the stress of if we had another BFN. Thankfully we got our positive test 😊

Hopefully the general manager will redeem himself and come through for me with a shielding letter tomorrow. If not they are going to rue the day they messed with me 🤭

So hopeful you get your BFP this time xx

Danni02 · 22/04/2021 11:02

@Bella1984, i so agree with your comment about the consultant you get on the day., the chances of me producing an egg through ivf they werent even going to try it was because one particular consultant kept putting me on a nhs waiting list with a 2 year wait that I put my foot down and askwd to try ivf, they put me on a high dose of meds and got 9 eggs!!!! 4 that went on to day 5 with 3 grade A and 1 C

Danni02 · 22/04/2021 20:33

@Bella1984, please dont get me wrong i have no issue with the NHS but when you are trying something which is so time sensitive an unecessary wait was not an option

Bella1984 · 22/04/2021 21:10

Sorry @Danni02 crazy day at work for me with back to back patients & trying to sort my shielding letter for work and GP apps in between 🤯

My faith is actually restored a little with Belfast fertility, General manager rang me after work and was so lovely. If you ever have any issues ask to speak with him! Essentially they cannot provide a letter legally as government advice is to only shield from 28 wks, even in a high risk job. He was very apologetic and had contacted multiple other clinics in the UK to get advice on it for me, which was nice.

My GP has given me a fit note recommending I continue to work from home for the rest of my 1st trimester which is great. I didn't want to off sick! Shouldn't have to.

I know you weren't getting at the NHS, I work for them and while they are amazing in many ways they're far from perfect. I've only experienced private ivf so have no comparison!

Anyway how are you feeling today?

xx

Danni02 · 22/04/2021 21:22

No worries, i work with children and adults with physical and learning disabilities..... Im feeling good today, was feeling a little sick this morning and ive had a little loss of appetite the past 2 days but generally a good day and much better form and spirits

Bella1984 · 22/04/2021 21:49

Oh fair play to you, a very rewarding but challenging job I'm sure. My mum is a retired specialist needs teacher. Glad to hear you're feeling a bit better that's great. Everything crossed for you 🤞🤞🤞 xx

Sunseasandwhitesangria · 23/04/2021 11:00

Hi ladies
Happy Friday!
I had a ridiculously busy and horrible day at work yesterday and had a growing headache all day which I was convinced was period coming, No sign of period but I’m afraid it was a BFN for me this morning. My testing inexperience showed as somehow messed up the first one so didn’t get any result and then had to wait for the tank to refill before doing another one! Am taking it surprisingly well but I think I had a flood of grief in February where the realisation set in I won’t be a mum so I think that was me drawing a line under it all so feel quite detached from the process. Clinic says to test again in two days and to keep taking those rank pessaries until then but am going to enjoy the sunshine and a nice glass of wine by the river methinks. Have one embryo on ice which I’ll transfer ASAP as time is ticking on!
How is everyone else feeling today?
Xxx

Aprilia123 · 23/04/2021 12:02

@Sunseasandwhitesangria Sorry to hear about the test. It’s a weird thing isn’t it, sometimes it’s massive grief and sometimes you just feel very detached. We’re testing tomorrow, not holding out too much hope with age and then we’ll be in a similar situation except nothing on ice, so a decision on whether another fresh cycle is what we want to do.
I’m glad you’re taking it in your stride for the moment.

Leonardo2021 · 23/04/2021 12:30

So OTD is today and tested this morning. I'm in absolute shock it's positive. But now I understand why this ohss has come back so badly. After getting a negative 6dpt I really thought that was it.
I'm so sorry for those who haven't got the result they wanted. My heart breaks for you :( never give up on your dream xx

Aprilia123 · 23/04/2021 12:34

Congrats @Leonardo2021! Absolute proof for why you should wait til test day!

BambiOnIce80 · 23/04/2021 12:50

I'm really sorry to hear about your BFN @sunseasandwhitesangria but it sounds like your head's in a good place 💐 Sunshine and wine sounds awesome 🍷

Fantastic news on the BFP @Leonardo2021, but so sorry that the OHSS is still going on. Are your clinic looking after you? I hope starts easing off for you 🤞🍀

Danni02 · 23/04/2021 13:04

So sorry to hear your news @sunseaandwhitesangria, it sounds like you have somewhat come to terms with this but it cant be easy. Sunshine and wine sounds perfect
@Leonardo2021 fantastic news congratulations. Hope you are getting spoilt rotten

Aprilia123 · 23/04/2021 13:09

8dp5dt and have just had some pink spotting, the first I’ve had (bled a fair bit after transfer but that settled in a day). Fingers crossed it’s nothing, but makes you feel very on edge waiting for the floodgates to open.

willithappen · 23/04/2021 13:18

Anyone with zero symptoms and still get their bfp? Or when did symptoms start for people?

Leonardo2021 · 23/04/2021 14:15

Thank you everyone. It's bitter sweet as currently sat in gynae a&e breathless with ohss. The things we go through to have a baby. Hope everyone is well and enjoying this beautiful weather x

Bella1984 · 23/04/2021 14:25

@Sunseasandwhitesangria I'm so so sorry reading this 😓 I do know how you feel after my BFN last November, and we had none 'on ice' So I very pleased that you do. It perhaps doesn't feel like much consolation now but it gives you another chance in a few months. I felt numb the last time, it took me weeks to come to terms with it and then I was very tearful at the slightest mention of babies and couldn't even watch anything with pregnant women in it, sad but true. I also had 2 pregnant colleagues at work which made it even more difficult because no one knew what I'd just been through. We also had to find another 10.5 grand after having just spent 9k on our first failed cycle, so at least having a frozen embryo to transfer takes away some of that stress. . .

I realy hope the next one is the one for you, you seem like a very strong lady 💪

@Aprilia123 good luck tomorrow, everything crossed for you xx

Bella1984 · 23/04/2021 14:28

Huge congrats on your BFP @Leonardo2021 just wonderful news.

I had mild OHHS which thankfully settled quickly, yours sounds awful. But I am sure you can put up with now you've got your BFP!

Hope you feel better soon and congrats again xx

Bella1984 · 23/04/2021 14:29

@willithappen I had zero symptoms before my BFP. No spotting, no breast tenderness and no dizziness. I was tired but likely more due to progesterone when so early on. I also had no spotting or anything my first cycle which was BFN! So try not and worry, everyone is different. When is your OTD? xx

Leonardo2021 · 23/04/2021 14:36

@willithappen

Anyone with zero symptoms and still get their bfp? Or when did symptoms start for people?
Honestly most my symptoms have been from my ohss. My boobs not even terribly sore like everyone says they should be as a sign. It's very early and usually symptoms don't start till 6 weeks. My friend who has had ivf same time as me has just had her bfp and no symptoms what so ever she was convinced her period was going to come! X
willithappen · 23/04/2021 14:39

@Bella1984 otd is 5th May 😅 I'm only 3 days post transfer as well so I know I'm getting ahead of myself. You know when you have just been trying so long and not had a hint of a bfp and you just can't imagine how anything is different now? Think that's what it is. I feel slightly tired and thirsty more but I genuinely think I'm thinking these things into existence more. I need a distraction to try get away from thinking constantly!

@Leonardo2021 thanks lovely, that does help! I'm 'unexplained' so I guess I'm worried about every stage really and it not working. I almost feel like I should be feeling at least something in my stomach right now but nadda. Maybe had a bit of 'bubbling' the last two days

Leonardo2021 · 23/04/2021 17:37

@willithappen I felt like I should
Feel the same !! I thought I'd should feel
Cramping etc like I hear a lot of women having. Honestly I don't feel ANY Different down there x

willithappen · 23/04/2021 17:43

@Leonardo2021 you've no idea how much responding has helped me ❤️ I think I will be able to last a bit longer til testing and not panic too much
Hope everything is okay with you!

tvdinners43 · 23/04/2021 18:44

I'm just at the end of our TWW after IVF. This was our 7th transfer.

Of all of our transfers we've had 2 unsuccessful, 3 chemicals and 1 pregnancy which ended up in a pre term loss (non fertility related)

Despite knowing that symptoms can mean nothing... or everything I still found myself frantically googling this tww but unlike other cycles I held out to beta test as the clinic did a blood test (never had this before!)

We got a positive at 10DP5DT.

Symptoms this week of note, hot flushes, sore boobs (on and off), headaches, hunger, thirst and strong stabbing pains on days 3-4

It's important to say that on my last pregnancy my boobs were much more sore and I was not hungry at all... so I was convinced I was out!

Wishing you all so much luck Daffodil
