Currently 3dp5dt! Going crazy here. Keep thinking what will be will be. But I just wish I could see what is going on in there.
Anyone else in the tww? When is your OTD?

@Leonardo2021 Thanks for your message. I agree 100%. I'm a Band 7 MSK physio, my team lead is so lovely but the manager above him, not so much 😡 I had a run in with him in the past after he redeployed me to covid wards on a Friday afternoon via email last March! Despite knowing I have Bipolar (I've always been very open with my work) as sometimes need time off due to severe depression or for medical apps with my consultant . . . I ended up very unwell due to the stress of covid wards, I was on ICU in a proning team, it was horrendous. I ended up rupturing 3 discs in my back & being hospitalised for a week last year because of moving heavy patients for 12 hour shifts in full PPE. It happened at home, had to get an ambulance & go into hospital myself due to.covis. It was so scary. I was bed bound for weeks & couldn't even walk.

Anyway, I digress but I had to complain about him to top level management and I honestly think he is deliberately making life hard for me 😓 he is even leaving the trust at the end of the month but is still being difficult!

I have a very supportive GP and occ health physio who I previously saw due to my backin injury & mental health last year. . . Regardless of this, my feelings are the clinic should write me a letter to shield it's honestly disgusting I will be lodging a formal complaint with them (once I get past my first trimester 🙏)

The policy here is only AFTER 28 wks where you must work from home if you're NHS front line. For me the first trimester (and whole pregnancy is surely just as important!

If I have to go on LT sick I will not hesitate. I have a Band 7 in another trust lined up anyway so will be leaving for a much nicer post closer to home! And hopefully hopefully nicer senior management! Xx

@PT8998 bless you, I'm the same atm so tired. Just had a one hour nap after work! You must be shattered. Not long til your ODT now 🙏 xx

Omg they sound like they've treated you terribly !! I hope your back is better now. So bad to be treated unfairly. I've had it myself though with a previous manager. I won't go into it but she was vile. I think if someone takes a disliking to you they make your life hard.
Yes we have the policy on after 28 weeks shield from home but my manager said there's a brand new policy as well as that one- that if you are under 28 weeks they have to find you a green area to work in and none patient contact.
There must be some evidence on it. I knew nothing about it until he phoned me last week. It's worth an ask maybe.

Bella1984 · 21/04/2021 00:06

@Leonardo2021yeah I am really disappointed at how the clinic and my work have handled this. Especially given that recent advice! Thanks for highlighting that, I will do some digging between patients tomorrow 🤯 at least I have a very supportive GP as a back up. But should not have to go off on sick. It's a joke but will get sorted one way or another. Really appreciate your advice 😊

@PT8998 never apologise for not replying sooner. This chat should never be stressful. Just something we can all dip in and out of when we need to. I know what juggling work is like, esp as a fellow NHS physio.

I don't know of anyone who has a 6dt, what was the reason for this? So you are now really 6days after a 5dt! So only 4 days to go? Feels like forever though right. Good luck on call tonight, I hope you don't have to go anywhere! Fair play to you for continuing to work frontline during your treatment. Big respect to you 👏 x

Morning ladies, had some dark red blood this morning and tested to find a very stark negative.

Will test again on OTD Friday to make sure but not getting my hopes up.

Just looking towards getting one of our Frosties transferred ASAP now.

Good luck to everyone else ❤️ xxx

Anyone in the TWW after ivf ?
KN4321 · 21/04/2021 07:45

Hi all ! @CurbsideProphet*@lucyinthe @IVFat43* @Bella1984
Hope you guys ok.
Sadly I got a BFN. I started some brown discharge 1 day before OTD and on test day it was negative :(
So upset.

I hope you guys get good news!

IVFat43 · 21/04/2021 08:21

@lucyinthe @KN4321 so sorry! You never know there still may be hope.. I’m definitely not going to test now until my OTD next Wednesday 😔xx

Aprilia123 · 21/04/2021 09:10

@lucyinthe @KN4321
So sorry ladies. Pamper yourselves when sure, you deserve to be looked after after the wait.

willithappen · 21/04/2021 09:25

Anyone have any tips for how to not think about this constantly the entire time? I'm not even a full 1 day pt yet!
I keep going between 'I feel something' and then 'I can already tell this hasn't worked' ahhhh

Sunseasandwhitesangria · 21/04/2021 10:50

Hello ladies!
I have been lurking on this thread during my own TWW and it's been really comforting. My history - 42, TTC for 2 years (for 1st child). No previous pregnancies. First tests with IVF were really positive "for my age" and there's quite a history of 40 something pregnancies in my family. Had EC two weeks ago today - 3 eggs from 9 follicles which I thought was amazing but my consultant made the point of coming to see me after the procedure as he thought I'd be disappointed by the outcome. 2 fertilized, and both embryos made it to day 5 - grade 4AB. I wanted to transfer both but OH was terrified of twins (whereas I'm more realistic about the low prospect of one!). My testing day is today, but I'm waiting until Friday as I have the day off and my work has been so stressful and unsympathetic I want to test in my own time in peace and quiet! I haven't felt any different at all (apart from sore boobs from the progesterone pessaries), so it's been quite easy to put it all out of my head but as testing day looms I'm not sure how I'll handle it. It's such a long process to get this far and then for it not to have worked....anyway. One question, if the process doesn't work, do you just get your period as usual, is it any different/ worse than before? Wishing all you ladies luck and than you for keeping me sane!

Bella1984 · 21/04/2021 11:08

@lucyinthe and @KN4321 I am so very sorry to hear your news. I know after an unsuccessful cycle last year how hard it is. We didn't have any to freeze either & the private clinic was so busy due to covid it was 4 months before we could start this cycle.

I am glad you have some frosties @lucy . . .
Just let your body recover and be kind to yourself like everyone else is saying. No one who has not been through it can possible understand how hard it is 😓

Have you both had to work this week? I was mad in my first cycle and didn't book my OTD off, don't ask me why! So had a full day of calling patients in between floods of tears.

I really hope the next cycle / ET is the one for you both if that's what you go ahead with

Sending hugs xx

Bella1984 · 21/04/2021 11:13

Welcome @Sunseasandwhitesangria

Congrats on your ET and approaching ODT tomorrow without testing early, good job.

Sorry to hear you're work haven't been great, mine either!

On your last question, I got the heaviest period of my life after my BFN in our last cycle, literally within a few hours of testing. I'm sure this is different for everyone but I found it particularly devastating to deal with. . . I usually have very light and regular periods. This was like nothing I'd ever experienced. At least if you are prepared I guess. I wasn't on any forums during my first cycle and felt very isolated. This group has been a great comfort to me too 🥰

My clinic advised you have to have one normal period before starting another cycle to allow your body to recover. I'm not sure if this is the same for a FET or not, I never had any to freeze unfortunately. And it may be different from clinic to clinic.

Hoping for good news tomorrow for you 🙏 xx

Bella1984 · 21/04/2021 11:15

Also @lucyinthe and @KN4321 we had a meeting with one of the consultants after our BFN last year, they were able to discuss it all with us and advise whether the protocol and medication doses should remain the same. If your weight changes a lot be sure to tell them, I lost 2.5 stone between cycles which affected the dose of injections I was on this time round (less) xx

Aprilia123 · 21/04/2021 11:17

Welcome @Sunseasandwhitesangria! You sound remarkably similar to me, with a slight difference - I had 14 follicles, 9 eggs, 6 fertilised but only one blast, currently 6dp5dt. Also 42 with good amh and fsh.

Sunseasandwhitesangria · 21/04/2021 11:30

@Bella1984 Many thanks for the welcome! And the info! I've never been much of a tester over the TTC period. My periods are quite regular (and I'm such a glass half empty-er), that I've only ever tested when my period is ridiculously late and I can usually attribute that to work stress! But more importantly, congrats on your BFP!!
I've felt incredibly isolated over this whole process. My OH is still disappointed we haven't been able to do it "naturally" which is irritating given our ages, and the fact he can't come to my appointments with me has made it feel like it's my own wee hobby! Honestly, I've never felt the gender divide as much as during this IVF process - men get to show up one afternoon while we women have to drag ourselves to appointments every other day, beating traffic and juggling work commitments!
Hugs to those of you who have had disappointing news out of this cycle, and fingers crossed to those still waiting to test. xxx

Sunseasandwhitesangria · 21/04/2021 11:36

Hi @Aprilia123 - good to see another lady of my vintage! How are you surviving? I've been going to bed earlier than ever and indulging in too much retail therapy (taking everything back the next day) to pass the time!

Bella1984 · 21/04/2021 12:20

Thank you! @Sunseasandwhitesangria we are delighted, but of course a wee bit anxious until we have our 7 week scan. 2 weeks tomorrow 🙏

Before IVF I literally tested every month for over 2 years TTC, heartbreaking 💔 never mind costing a fortune 🙈

Both of my cycles I resisted testing until the evening of day 9p5dt as I just couldn't bear the agony of a false positive/ negative.

Sounds like it's been difficult between you and your OH? My husband has been incredibly supportive, but because he has the fertility issues I think he suffers from a lot of guilt at watching me having to go through it all because of him. I have never once made him feel that way though, not his fault! He is a non smoker, very fit, doesn't drink too much etc. He is an only child so we think maybe his dad had the same issues (wouldn't have known 36 years ago!) My husband has come to all of my appointments with me. He told his boss we are doing ivf and he has been great. We both have the day booked off work for our pregnancy scan 🤞

But I have still felt isolated. Especially with juggling work and the extra stress of covid restrictions. Still in lockdown here in Northern Ireland so spare a thought for me! All my English mates have been killing me with photos of beer gardens and their fresh new cut and colours haha. Have you all been able to get to a beer garden / outdoor brunch at least? I wish I couldve done that in my tww.

Xx

BambiOnIce80 · 21/04/2021 12:58

@Sunseasandwhitesangria I bow down to your amazing will power!! 🙌😁 I get it though - I was lucky that my bloods this cycle were on a Saturday (last Saturday, in fact), but I would have taken the day off it was a week day. It's been a BFP for me this cycle and I haven't had any convincing symptoms either, so keeping everything crossed for you that you'll be the same 🤞🍀

@lucyinthe and @KN4321 I'm so sorry to hear about your BFN's 😔 I hope you can take some time for yourselves and speak to your clinics when you're ready. I found having a strong plan in place going forward does help a bit.x

@Bella1984 how are things going with you today, lovely? Any further word from your clinic yet or are you going down the GP route for your shielding letter? I hope it gets sorted out soon and you can relax 🤞

I'm another one in their 40's (41 in less then a couple of weeks time 😏) - I'm loving the idea of being vintage! 😁 Definitely sounds more dignified than a 'geriatric' (🤨) pregnancy! 😜

VanillaSpiceCandle · 21/04/2021 13:25

@Bella1984 no, thankfully I only had mild symptoms so was allowed a fresh transfer. I’m NHS and so have pushed gently for more information from the embryologist but they just wouldn’t give a grade. I’m really glad I could have it as I’m sure it would have been a huge wait and the symptoms have really lessened. Really glad you could have it 5 days later! Are you private?

I hope your manager drops it. He’s clearly making your life miserable for no reason and he’s leaving too so no idea why he’s pursuing it. It makes me so angry how some people go to work with the sole aim of making everyone else’s life a nightmare.

@lucyinthe and @KN4321 I’m so so sorry for you. I can’t imagine the pain you’re going through.

@Sunseasandwhitesangria wishing you luck for Friday. I don’t blame you for waiting. My test date is a day I’m not working thankfully otherwise I would have waited until the weekend/booked the day off. It’s far too stressful.

Bella1984 · 21/04/2021 13:29

@BambiOnIce80

I'm ok thanks, saga with clinic and work ongoing but am just trying to chill. It will get sorted one way or another!

Clinic still saying they're only responsible for my care up until ET, despite remaining their patient until my pregnancy scan on 6th May.
Just off phone to general manager and he was lovely, he agrees with me it's not right. He is going to discuss with regional UK fertility exec for advice I'm pushing for change in protocol due to.covid-19, which would benefit lots of other ladies. He will get back to me in 48 hours 🤞

Otherwise I am a starvo atm and obsessed with orange juice ice lollies and avocado / marmite on toast! Sleep is still terrible, so hot at night. Very cool you have zero symptoms so far. I have lovely wee dog who is part collie and she has been so clingy since my BFP, I think she must know something 🥰

Counting down the days until stuff opens here so.can at least sit and have a decaf coffee and outdoor brunch with my mum!

Ps I like vintage! Even at 36 I am classed geriatric I think, how very rude! I think I will go for vintage too, like a fine wine 😉

Best get back to work here, have a good day everyone x

Danni02 · 21/04/2021 14:32

Hi, im currently 7 days after transfer, this is my second attempt my first unfortunately was unsuccessful last year.... Im very very low today snapping and teary
Af will be due within in the next two days and im a mess and so scared that this attempt has also failed

Bella1984 · 21/04/2021 16:14

Welcome @Danni02

Great you've had your ET and are 7 days post transfer, not long to go now!
I found it very hard this time too after an unsuccessful first cycle last year also 😓

Never believed this one would work and we got our BFP. Hope you get good news soon. Just take it easy. Is your OTD day 10 after a 5dt? x

Bella1984 · 21/04/2021 16:16

Hi @VanillaSpiceCandle

I've heard a few similar stories with NHS cycles RE less info from the embryologist. Our clinic call on the day of transfer, one after, day 3 and day 5. They also keep any that may continue to develop until day 6 just in case they would be good enough to freeze.

Still though you are fortunate to get a cycle on the NHS, no such luck here in N.I!

xx

Danni02 · 21/04/2021 16:40

I had my transfer in day 20 of my cycle and yes a 5dt, they have me testing on Monday but my cycle is due to begin tomorrow or Friday

BambiOnIce80 · 21/04/2021 16:56

@VanillaSpiceCandle my clinic is NHS and they do give the grades - it's mind blowing how much variation there is between clinics! 🤯 That said, I've come to appreciate that all that matters is that they're at a good enough grade to freeze in the first place ❄ I spent an unhealthy large amount of time during my TWW reading papers about FET outcomes and morphological grading/stage of embryo expansion after thawing and the conclusions were that as long as the embies were at a good enough grade to be frozen (and they then survived the thaw), then there was no difference in success rates between morphological gradings/re-expansion status 👍

Way to kick some clinic manager arse @Bella1984! 💪 As you say, you'll get that letter one way or another so there's no point stressing yourself (and your bean 🥚) out. I'm swinging between starving and food averse at the moment, as well as being freezing during the day but then waking up with night sweats 🤷🏻‍♀️ And it's interesting that you say that your dog is clingy at the moment 🐶 My cat was obsessed with sniffing me when I got my fresh cycle BFP but is completely disinterested this time (yet another reason why I thought I was getting a BFN this cycle!). He was only a kitten last time, so I'm wondering if his adult cat nose isn't as in tune to whatever hormone he was picking up before? 😼🤔 Either that or I can expect bad news at the 7 week scan 😥🔮

I'm sorry that you're having a rough time today @Danni02 💐 It's so, so tough, but hang on in there 💗 I guess you'll be taking progesterone at the moment? That'll throw your normal cycle dates out the window, so try not to worry about AF turning up - it shouldn't do whilst you're on the progesterone 🤞
