Our other thread is now full so thought I would start this one to continue the chat.

@Beaglemum91 I'm waiting for my period so I can start meds for FET so that is really helpful information about the embryo transfer process. Thank you. Did you have your partner on Facetime or anything for it?

@Icsi2021 so excited for you xxx

@Hopeful1234567 oh that is brilliant news, I'm so pleased for you! I must admit I was a bit worried when you hadn't posted yesterday. Mine went okay thanks, there was a yolk sac but no fetal pole visible yet at 6+1. I feel like it's a bit late to not be seeing one, but I have another scan on Friday at 6+4 so I'm hopeful we might see one then. The doctor never spends long looking because it's not the purpose of the scan, it's to monitor the ohss. So I guess they don't want to spend too much time on a scan as just people only get the one! I have my official viability scan next Tuesday at 7+1 and I think if we don't see a heartbeat then it won't be good news.

Hopeful1234567 · 09/09/2021 07:27

@lawandgin Thankyou! I just completely forgot to say anything, just feels surreal, still can’t bring myself to tell anyone or accept what is going on which is sad. Honestly I know it’s hard not to worry but the fetal pole was not mentioned last week at my scan and that was 6+1 day from what I took away from my scan on Tuesday is that we’re all different and grow/ develop at different rates. Also dates are differently calculated at the clinic compared to the NHS as it’s based on our treatment. Yeah you are probably right they are not spending as much time on checking the embryo. It’s really good they are keeping an eye on you though. I’m sure if they felt there was an issue they would tell you. I didn’t expect to see a heartbeat on Tuesday and I did!

kittyfantastico21 · 09/09/2021 12:24

@IzzyStar glad your transfer went well! I didn't do anything different in the TWW, just continued eating lots of protein and working at home, gentle exercise etc. Fingers crossed you'll get a positive result!

@Hopeful1234567 so glad your scan went well! Wishing you a mundane and calm remainder of your pregnancy!

@lawandgin hope you're still coping okay with the OHSS, and it's great that there's growth and progression on your scans. Fingers crossed for further progress on Friday!

lawandgin · 10/09/2021 11:20

@kittyfantastico21 thank you, I am feeling much better. Still have a huge waist which is 10 inches bigger than normal but I am more mobile and in less pain which is good. @Hopeful1234567 great news on your scan! I had an excellent scan this morning where I saw not only a fetal pole but also a heartbeat! I'm so relieved. Clearly I am still going to worry but the stats are more in my favour now and I'm actually starting to believe I am pregnant!

@kittyfantastico21 how are you feeling now? I've started to get occasional nausea and I'm unbelievably tired and definitely peeing more!

kittyfantastico21 · 10/09/2021 11:38

@lawandgin great news on the heartbeat! That's brilliant, and reduces risk such a lot. I'm so glad you're starting to feel better. OHSS sounds truly awful. I'm 9 weeks now and the nausea/sickness has ramped up a lot in the last couple of days, so that's quite reassuring (although miserable). Yesterday I was so tired that I had a lie down at lunchtime and after work and still needed to go to bed at 9.30! So I'm a little bit more able to believe that I'm still pregnant. Still simultaneously counting down the days and dreading the 12 week scan!

lawandgin · 10/09/2021 11:44

@kittyfantastico21 ohss is truly miserable! I honestly don't think I would ever have a fresh transfer again. There was nothing to suggest I would get it and here I am, so I don't see why I would do it again. Sorry you are feeling so horrible although I do get that it's reassuring. Do you think you will have a private scan between now and 12 weeks or will you just wait? Also, I meant to ask you because you are at Wimbledon too - are partners allowed in for the viability scan? I forgot to ask this morning! X

Hopeful1234567 · 10/09/2021 13:05

@lawandgin omg this is amazing!!!! So pleased for you!!! Stats are defo in your favour but I get the still worrying. I was constipated yesterday went tried to do my business and had red speckles of blood when I wiped. Feel even more on edge now I’ve been discharged 🙈.
@kittyfantastico21 sorry to hear your suffering a lot but really pleased like you say as it’s good signs!!!

lawandgin · 10/09/2021 13:27

@Hopeful1234567 Thank you! ahh yes, the dreaded constipation - I am also suffering with it and some bleeding. Not helped by the fact I am on clexane! It's nothing to worry about, try to drink more and eat foods that will help to 'unblock' (!) Like hummus and avocado and other high healthy fat foods. If it gets sore then you can use some haemorrhoid cream like germaloid (but check it is safe for use in pregnancy as I haven't actually used it since I have been pregnant) x

kittyfantastico21 · 10/09/2021 14:58

@lawandgin yes, partners can come to the viability scan. I think the government guidelines are that if you're pregnant you're allowed one person with you at all appointments.

@Hopeful1234567 sorry you're having a tough time of it! Bleeding is so scary but I'm sure it's all fine and is just from the constipation.

lawandgin · 10/09/2021 15:34

Thanks @kittyfantastico21 - I will report back afterwards 😊

Hopeful1234567 · 14/09/2021 13:00

@lawandgin Thankyou for the reassurance, does help to know it’s normal.

@kittyfantastico21 Thankyou. Hope you’re all getting on okay.

I was sent home from work yesterday as a child in my class has tested positive and I’m single jabbed. Then started to develop hot and cold, sore head and dizziness symptoms. My PCR came back negative but today I have a dry cough so don’t think I’m out of the woods atm.

lawandgin · 14/09/2021 13:24

Oh no @Hopeful1234567 that doesn't sound good. Fingers crossed it isn't covid, or if it is, it is very mild for you.

I had my official viability scan this morning and baby is measuring spot on 7+1 which I am so happy about. Heartbeat was really good too. I do feel relieved but will no doubt continue to worry! It's probably time to leave this thread now, it's been such a help for me, but it doesn't feel right to stay when others are in very different places with their treatment. I'd love to stay in touch @kittyfantastico21 and @Hopeful1234567 and if you would too, PM me and we can sort something out x

Hopeful1234567 · 14/09/2021 14:10

@lawandgin Thankyou. Yes completely agree. It’s been an amazing support but defo time to log off here. 💓

Giraffe971 · 16/09/2021 13:11

Can anyone recall how long their virtual consultation was? I've got mine coming up and what to know how much time I'll need to tell work I'll be missing.

Prayingforabubba · 18/09/2021 22:27

@Giraffe971 mine took about 45 minutes x

IzzyStar · 18/09/2021 23:59

Hi all,

I thought I'll just update everyone my cycle wasn't successful. I just want to thank those that have given me advice and reassured me. Sending positive energy and baby dust to everyone and again congratulations to those with positive test results. I've decided to take time out and get back to a positive mental space before trying again. X

IzzyStar · 19/09/2021 00:00

@Giraffe971 mine took about an hour.

Pelotonconvert · 19/09/2021 14:17

Hello, I hope you don’t mind me jumping on this thread and if someone would be kind enough to answer some questions? I’m due to have my initial scan at ABC in the next few weeks and I was wondering

  • how do they determine your AMH. At the scan? Or by a blood test?
  • roughly how long does it take from initial scan (assuming accepted) to fresh transfer?
  • I have 3-4 month cycles (sometimes longer) does anyone else have PCOS with v long cycles? would the clinic give you something to induce a period so you can start or would you have to wait?
Thanks so much and so useful to read all your experiences. Congrats to those who have been successful and fingers crossed for those of us still waiting x
Prayingforabubba · 19/09/2021 21:50

@Pelotonconvert

They will scan you and count your follicles. If you have 12 or 15 (sorry I can't remember which) then they will accept you there and then. If you have less on the scan, they will ask you to have an AMH blood test which was £105 pound.

After your initial scan , they will book you in for your nurse consultation. After that, you can start on your next bleed.

For me, I was on stims for about 10-11 days on each cycle before I triggered for egg collection. I have never had a fresh transfer but if you do, it's 5 days after collection x

I'm not sure if abc indie periods but I know other clinics do. Definitely something you could ask them through email or by calling. Hope that helps x

Pelotonconvert · 20/09/2021 09:20

Thank you so much @Prayingforabubba that is v helpful. They didn’t really give a straight answer about AMH on the virtual open evening and I couldn’t see how you wouldn’t have to have the blood test. Thanks again, so helpful x

Rachelmc13 · 22/09/2021 14:33

Hi. I came across this thread and it has been so helpful in trying to understand the ABC process. Me and my partner have been TTC for just over a year now and ABC caught my attention as they do mild IVF and we tick all the criteria. The clinic I am currently at only offer standard IVF. I am going for my initial scan at ABC this Friday but we don't have our zoom consultation till the 14th October (the day when my next cycle is due to start). Do you know how quickly you can start the process? Also at what stage do they collect your partners sperm? My husband works away most of the week except Thursdays and Sundays, so I am concerned this is going to mess up the process as he cannot get time off work at all. Thanks and really appreciate the support and help on here. Rachel xxx

Giraffe971 · 27/09/2021 12:50

I'm now waiting for my period to start my cycle. It will be just over a month from my first appt until I start meds.

After the virtual consultation you'll get a quick call to discuss costs and then you book another appt to discuss medications.

No clue on sperm collecting as I'm using a donor.

loulou2021 · 27/09/2021 19:05

@Rachelmc13 I had my baseline scan in June and I've just had my egg collection today. We probably could've started a month earlier but I didn't want to start in August. After your initial consultation you'll then have to send evidence of your last smear result and rubella immunity. You'll then book your treatment consultation and they'll tell you what meds you'd be taking etc. My husband had a sperm analysis done 6 months before at another clinic and ABC didn't ask him to retake it. If they/you want your husband to have a sperm analysis then I'm sure they'd let you drop it off on a Thurs (I doubt they would on a Sunday, but worth checking). If they don't need a sperm analysis done in advance then you just bring it on the day of egg collection (or do it at the clinic). Good luck on your journey!

Hi everyone, I had a 5d transfer on 02/10 (IVF with ICSI) and was just after some advice. I’ve been having brown mucus spotting for 2 days now (so it started 3dp5dt) has anyone experienced this and gone on to have a bfp? I have some mild cramping too. Spotting isn’t enough to warrant a sanitary towel, and only there when I wipe but I’m really worried it means the IVF has failed. It’s my first round and I don’t know what to expect
