@willithappen I wish i could wait that long but I know what I'm like so inpatient, and in my head I think once I know good or bad I can carry on with the next plan of attack lol.

@Mancbear88 Thank you for that info iv just been Googling it and there are a few success story's with grade x embryo, and like you say you can have the best and still doesn't mean its going to stick.
I also got my chips, with a chicken burger lol I was starving.

My clinic was running late so I had to pee 3 times and keep drinking water, when they scan you I thought I was going to pee over the doctor, my legs were shaking.
They gave me a USB with my embryo on it with a video showing the development over the 5days.

GingerBrummie · 01/03/2021 15:43

@Kitttycatt our first BFP on this thread, amazing news, you must be over the moon, lots of congratulations. And congrats to the PUPO ladies X

Nix49816 · 01/03/2021 15:46

So sorry to those of you who's news wasn't what you were expecting. Try to stay positive, this experience is so full off possibilities for things not to work it's so hard to focus on all those babies that do get born through IVF and beat even the bad odds. Those little eggs and embryos want be born, try to focus on that and keep hoping it will work out x

Blessing12 · 01/03/2021 15:47

Does anyone know how long it takes for embryo implantation?

Mancbear88 · 01/03/2021 15:54

@Blessing12 I hope this helps - sorry I couldn’t remember if you were day 5 or day 3. Day 3 I think is the same but with two days extra at the start to get to a day 5 if that makes sense.

@Kitttycatt congratulations that's amazing!!

My protocol form for FET says I would take progesterone up until 12 weeks and I know others who have to continue taking them after pregnant also.

Mancbear88 · 01/03/2021 16:00

@Kitttycatt fantastic news congratulations
I’ve been told I’ll be on all my drugs till 12 weeks if positive so surprised that they are saying come off them, but all clinics are different.
Well done on waiting till OTD too some will power!!

Hopeforsuccess · 01/03/2021 16:07

@Kitttycatt congrats!!!!! Some clinics say continue medication until 8 to 12 weeks.
@Motherofkittens28 i am so sorry for not having a better result. Be positive and focus on the one that you have! Wishing you the best!

thetallgirl · 01/03/2021 16:08

Yay! Congrats @Kitttycatt - out first BFP in this thread. So pleased for you.

My clinic also said that if get BFP then they will give me another prescription for the progesterone and to keep taking it (maybe to 8 weeks, but I'm not certain on that, I forgot!).

I started on Cyclogest yesterday and felt fine but today it's like I've had major brain fog. I had one at 6am, then went for a cycle at 7.30. When I got back I thought I was going to faint! (And I hadn't gone hard at cycling!) then all day I've been trying to work but brain felt like half capacity and I just wanted to sleep all day. It's finally easing now but I can't help but think that's because this mornings dose is wearing off, ready for my next one at 6pm. Anyone else felt like this on Cyclogest? It does say dizziness and fatigue are side effects. I'm hoping my body adjusts and it gets easier.

Motherofkittens28 · 01/03/2021 16:10

@richmondlady1981 and @2mumlife they just phoned and said that all the other follicles were empty. They said it could be different another month but that for another cycle they would do a short protocol rather than another long one.
@kitttycat my clinic told me on Friday they only do day 5 transfers so I expect unless it gets that far I won't be having one. Let's see if it fertilises tomorrow.

Pansy222 · 01/03/2021 16:21

@Kitttycatt Yepppieeee this is fantastic news. I took up till the 12 week point with my son 4 years ago.

Things could of changed but I’d push for a prescription regardless.

Rest easy and enjoy as mush as you can in this next wait. Such amazing news praying for us all xx

Blessing12 · 01/03/2021 16:27

@Kitttycatt That is absolutely fantastic new, congratulations.. My clinic said today if I test positive to continue my cyclogest till im 10weeks, so I'd check that out.

Not sure why I keep missing some ppls comments on here.

@Mancbear88 Thank you that was so helpful, im day 5transfer.

Mancbear88 · 01/03/2021 16:31

@thetallgirl on progesterone I get dizzy spells, extreme tiredness and my legs ache plus a bit of diarrhoea (tmi). I think last time I got used to it and feel a bit better overtime.

RichmondLady1981 · 01/03/2021 16:33

Pansy222 WHOOOOOOPEEEEEEE! Huge congratulations- amazing news 🎉

dragonfly1978 · 01/03/2021 16:46

Hi all, had my egg collection today and they got 9 eggs. I was disappointed as managed 11 last cycle but the embryologist said all these looked good so now the wait until the morning to see how many have fertilised with ICSI 🤞. If any many it I will have transfer on Saturday

Rachae · 01/03/2021 16:51

Loving the Macdonalds references! What's this all about then? (Huge macdonalds fan!)

lucymills1234 · 01/03/2021 16:56

Hi @RichmondLady1981 sorry I missed your message which you sent about 4 days and a whole different thread ago! My protocol has been exactly the same as last time - long protocol, 300ui Ovaleap. I'm 41 and single so using a donor.

I had 15 follicles and 5 in the right size window when I was scanned on Friday so triggered Saturday night and had EC today. I came round to find they'd actually collected 18. That's way more than I expected given that I only have one ovary! Obviously it remains to be seen how many will fertilise/make it. My fertilisation rate was low last time (11 eggs, 4 fertilised normally).

The bad news is I'm now at risk for OHSS so it's going to be a freeze-all, assuming I get any blasts. I know that is sensible and FETs can have good results but still feel a bit disappointed. At my age (42 soon) it feels like every day counts and FET means a delay. But that's how it is so onto the next thing!

lucymills1234 · 01/03/2021 16:59

@Kitttycatt my clinic doesn't give progesterone beyond OTD either. I got a BFN last time, but the pessaries ran out the night before test day and they told me that's as far as they prescribe them. It seems to vary from one clinic to the next....

RichmondLady1981 · 01/03/2021 17:05

@Pansy222 May I ask... is this your first round? Can you remind us of your journey? How many eggs? Fresh or frozen transfer. Would love to hear. X

2mumlife · 01/03/2021 17:08

@Kitttycatt congratulations! I think my clinic said cyclogest for first 12 weeks if successful, but then my boxes of cyclogest say on them to take for 15 days only, so a little bit mixed messages.

@Blessing12 I'd love a timelapse video! How cool is that (sorry, I'm a science geek)

@Motherofkittens28 Not to encourage googling, but I started looking into 'empty follicle syndrome' after my poor outcome at EC, and a lot of the evidence seems to suggests the follicles might not be empty, but just that the egg wont come away because its still immature (this is what my consultant said to me, that the eggs were stuck to the follicle wall and couldn't be retrieved). Maybe worth talking to your consultant about (its something I'll be talking to mine about if we do a round 2) as seems it can be a consequence of a poor response to the hcg trigger or other things related to the protocol.

Mrbay · 01/03/2021 17:20

Afternoon ladies :)

@2mumlife - I have everything crossed for you. Like you said it is great to get to day 3, I know it hard to keep the faith but that is the only thing we can

@Motherofkittens28 - it can happen.
My friend on cycle 1 got two eggs/2 blastos and one of them is now 4/5years I think so it can happen. For context she was 38-40 and own eggs, low AMH.

@Blessing12 - congratulations on being PUPO! I hope the other embryo becomes a lovely day 6 blasto - please don't focus on grades, it is an opinion and beauty contest.

@Mancbear88 - congratulations!!!!!!

@Kitttycatt - CONGRATULATIONS!!! Ref progesterone, I think my clinic goes to either 6 weeks or 12 week, I've not gotten past 5wks5D so I couldn't tell you, but I can to continue meds until I had a neg test so that would suggest to me that they continue to 12weeks.

@Motherofkittens28 - I am glad that they have said they would look to change things. I went from 2 cycles of long protocol to short and this cycle has been so much better.

@Rachae - McDs apparently helps with implantation (the salt) - honestly it scientific but I am a fat shite so any reason for the crap food and I am there!!

Ref progesterone, I am tired, headachy, constipated and working on 50% of brain power!! Just wish I could have caffeine!

Good news day for me today, my lagging 2 embryos have made it to the freezer - I cannot believe that I had one to transfer and 4 in the freezer given how poor my response was in cycles 1 and 2!! As a reminder I am 33, AMH 2.1 (I think), AFC less than 4 on each ovary.
I've treated myself to a sample size bottle of alcohol gin to celebrate - I'll let you all know what is it like.

Motherofkittens28 · 01/03/2021 17:32

@2mumlife , the dr said she flushed the follicles several times to detach any eggs stuck to the side but that there were no cells in the fluid, which apparently indicated that they were empty follicles. I've read quite a bit that says the long protocol isn't great for poor responders so to be honest I reckon they probably put me on the wrong protocol in the first place. She already said next time they would recommend a short protocol. It all just feels so unfair, I know I'm not young but still I only just turned 39 and I feel like it's all over for me. Friends of mine have got pregnant naturally really easily at my age, just sucks that I'm the exception.

@Rachae - the fries are scientifically backed and 100% are not just an excuse for eating McDonalds Wink Grin

Pansy222 · 01/03/2021 18:04

@RichmondLady1981 Absolutely I’ll happily share my story. (It’s a long one though)

Let’s start with Periods ; I started mine at 14 1/2 years old. I had all of 2 months of normal regular bleed and then NOTHING.

Various tests, operations, to try and figure it out as I don’t fit the pcos or endrometrosis bracket although have some characteristics.
I’ve widely been undiagnosed and unexplained.
At 18 I was told this is early menopause and that I should prepare for that.
I was given hrt and wished me luck. I felt horrendous.

I met my husband and we attempted all the regular clomid etc, ovarian drilling.
Nothing worked.

We met our consultant at this time in the nhs hospital, who put us forward for IVF immediately I was 31-32years.

December 2016
Nhs short protocol and had 12 eggs retrieved. 5 made it to blastocyst on day 5.
One was transferred a 4bb who to our absolute surprise arrived healthy and beautiful 9months later. He is now 3 1/2.
And WONDERFUL. Science is amazing.

When he was 10 months old we felt it was time to try again and had another 4bb which we were over the moon was Positive. Sadly this little one was an adventurer and travelled to my tube. At 7weeks burst and left me with no baby and a missing left tube.
Strangely I did not test positive here on this one until 9dp5dt which with My son I’d tested positive 6dp5dt I don’t know if that was a sign for us that something was amiss.

Subsequently we’ve transfered the 3rd embryo frozen but failed. And then in December 2020 we used the last two #4 & #5 frozen. Sadly no luck.

So this is us today. A very expensive but no how worth it is treatment - 17 eggs collected 11 of those fertilised. Day 5 one amazing 4AA transfered and a 4BA frozen.

And now just hoping and praying for a sibling for our little boy.

That’s it x
