Hey all

We had a call this morning from the embryologist to say one blastocyst to freeze which is a high grade.

Really happy to be carrying one and frozen another.

Otd is also 10th March. I am not a nice person when it gets to this time, I’d rather not test early and be POS every other hour!
I turn into a mad woman honestly!

Time to try and distract ourselves instead 😆

Blessing12 · 28/02/2021 12:09

Fantastic @Mrbay great news, bring on the BFP..

@JessTTC omg that is me lol im exactly the same I just cant help it hehe hehe, good luck with your FET Thursday im in tomorrow and I already feel sick with nerves.

Mancbear88 · 28/02/2021 13:05

Lots happening this week. It’s my ET tomorrow assuming my embryo survives the thaw.

@JessTTC I have a massive POAS issue I think I tested at day 3 last time! With my fresh my husband told me to wait to test so I just didn’t tell him for a few days haha I’m going to try and wait till next weekend though this time. Although I think that will have to be my husband hiding the tests as I have no will power

RichmondLady1981 · 28/02/2021 19:25

Hello lovely ladies. Wow so much going on here!

willithappen · 28/02/2021 19:33

Good luck to those doing retrieval's and transfers tomorrow!
Tomorrow is the all important day 5 update for me. Terrified of it tbh

RichmondLady1981 · 28/02/2021 19:50

Not sure why but it’s not letting me tag any names? Any idea why? I’ll just do them manually.

@Mrbay thank you for the new thread. Was concerned it was about to run out. It’s been lovely having all your support in this crazy journey. Huge congratulations on your transfer and frozen Blasts. What a fortunate position you’re in. You must be on the moon. So happy for you.

Purplefairy wishing you loads of luck for your scan on 4th March and transfer coming up shortly after. Must seem weird to go from so much activity with stims, scans, embryo updates to things being quite quiet. A lot going on mentally though I’m sure.

Nix48. Sorry the ET wasn’t pleasant. You’ve done so so with the 4AB and the extra blasts frozen. You must be so thrilled. When’s OTD? Are you an early tester? 😊

Rachae - the big drop offs are scary aren’t they? Did they change your protocol this time around? If so what did they change?

IVFat40 I have absolutely everything crossed for you and your blasts. I’m thinking it shouldn’t be too long now before you get your results.

mancbear all the best for you ET tomorrow. Don’t forget your full bladder. 😀

Tumble Everything crossed for your update on your day 5s tomorrow. I’m in the same boat except not doing fresh transfer. Hoping you get your amazing grade and some left over to put on ice.

Willithappen good luck for tomorrow. Regarding AF- I was told to expect my period 7-10 days post EC. 👍

Blessing12. Wow sounds like a stunner of an embryo- good luck for tomorrow. 💕

Motherofkittens good luck for your transfer tomorrow. Our clinic is also open on sundays.

pansy222 oh wow! A 4AA! Sounds pretty spiffing! Also you must be so pleased you have some left over. What a fabulous position to be in. Congrats on being PUPO

Dbob congrats on getting AF. Trust me I’ve had moments when I’ve been desperate for it to show so that I can move on with things. I completely get it. It feels good to be on the road with the stims- feels like it’s actually happening.

JESSTTC good luck with your transfer! Oh wow- mothering Sunday? I’m sure the fact that it’s such a special and relevant day will mean that there’s extra baby dust sprinkled in your direction 💫

Sorry for being graphic but I finally had my ‘movement’. I can’t honestly say it’s some of the worst pain I’ve ever experienced and if I have to go through EC again, which is likely, I will start the whole fibre, laxative approach before I head in for the procedure. It was so u comfortable and unpleasant.

Big day for most of us tomorrow. So far my little trio have been such fighters from the beginning but understand that from day 3-5 is one of the biggest drop offs. Trying to be positive but I’m feeling the butterflies.

Sorry if I’ve missed anyone- all the best for you all tomorrow. Looking forward to hearing your progress!

RichmondLady1981 · 28/02/2021 19:50

@willithappen me too! Petrified!!! Sending hugs.

RichmondLady1981 · 28/02/2021 19:50

Ahhh it’s letting me tag now. Phew.

ThePurpleFairy · 28/02/2021 19:58

I can see that there’s a few of you who like to do multiple tests, I feel like this will be me! It sounds awful but I have considered doing a secret sneaky test on day 5/6. My thoughts behind it would be if it’s positive then I can stop worrying a few days earlier and if it’s negative then it’s not game over there’s still time. But not sure if I would just be playing with fire really.

@Mrbay yay, enjoy being PUPO! I say ‘enjoy’ the 2ww doesn’t sound at all fun!

Good luck tomorrow @Mancbear88 and @willithappen!

@RichmondLady1981 oh bless you, being bunged up is absolutely no fun at all. I found going for a walk for things moving when the meds bunged me up a bit. I agree with you, it wasn’t a fun time. I have to use nuclear stuff to prepare for bowel cancer screening and at one point I was tempted by the spare lot I have in my kitchen cupboard (and that’s really not a pleasant time either, though my mum loves to tell me people pay a lot of money for that kind of clear out 😂!)

RichmondLady1981 · 28/02/2021 20:09

@ThePurpleFairy gosh I wish I’d have known- I’d have been driving round to your house to take some of those meds ... 😆. Seriously though - your mum is absolutely right (they usually are 😉).

Only 4 more get-ups for your scan now. What will they be wanting to see? Lining over 8? Will they want to check hormones too? Never been at that stage. X

Mrbay · 28/02/2021 20:18

Thanks for the well wishes, I'm super chuffed with today.

First transfer that I've had without cramps.

@nix49816 - that's fab news, you must be over the moon.

@pansy222 - yay!!

@mancbear88 - good luck!

I managed to walk past the tests whilst shopping today, I'm going to try and see how my willpower goes over the coming week.

Anyone else still constipated? I'm having to take laxatives daily and I can't think that can be good.

Pansy222 · 28/02/2021 20:24

@mrbay @RichmondLady1981

I think the trapped wind was where the pain was worse. I ended up laying on my back hug my knees up to my Chest and rolled around. That’s the only thing that relieved the pain. Luckily all gone now. Surgery down there does tend to do this.

Hope your all feeling much more yourselves after that week !!!

2mumlife · 28/02/2021 20:29

@Nix49816 Ouch to the catheterising!

@Mrbay we'll see what updates come tomorrow. I was alright today, and managed to have a "normal" day with not being able to do anything now to help eggies, but feeling more nervous now about waiting for news tomorrow. Congratulations on your transfer!

@MrTumbleTumble good luck for tomorrow. Hope everything goes well.

I tested a few days early on our IUIs but mostly it's because my period always came the day before testing day, and I refused to have my period be the thing that told me it hadn't worked.

I've heard a few people talk about lack of movement after EC, I seem to be the opposite, and the cyclogest really doesn't seem to be helping the situation, anyone got any tips for firming things up again!? Blush

Rachae · 28/02/2021 21:08

@RichmondLady1981 Yea the drop of was certainly puzzling! I thought there was some thing wrong at first but a few consultants said sometimes it's just luck of how the embryos progress. We had 20 eggs then 19 on day 1 and 17 on day 3. But because eggs and sperm were both top quality they put it down to bad luck and have kept me on the same protocol. I'm worried what happens this time but we'll see!
Best of luck for tomorrow's update xc

IVFat43 · 28/02/2021 21:29

@Rachae I think I read you’ve had a huge drop off through 5day, is this correct?
We did... we had 21 eggs, 15 fertilised,
9 x grade 1 to 8 cell stage (excellent)
4 x grade 2 to 8 cell stage (good)
2 x grade 3 to 6 cell stage (poorer)
To be told on day 5 at blastocyst we’d gone from 15 embryos to 5! It’s heartbreaking even at that stage to think things are going perfectly at day 4, it felt like falling off a cliff.. they told me to manage expectations but to lose 10 was a huge blow!
We now have 5 embryos being PGT-A tested and I’m told these are 4 x 2-2 and 1 x 3-2.. I’ve done nothing but google the last 2wks on every topic and statistic of ivf and testing.. I’m hoping results come through this week 🤞

Rachae · 28/02/2021 22:01

Hey @IVFat43 yea we did last cycle.. So huge that on transfer day there wasn't any that could be graded. We transferred the 'least bad' embryo which was an early blasto ungraded but it didn't work out. I think getting 5 on day 5 is pretty good tho? I think anything ranging from 1 viable to 5 is a great result, as its not just how many eggs as far as I understand. The shocker for us was that there wasnt even one that could be graded.
I'm hoping this cycle either works better.. Or if we get the same result, then the NHS is willing to investigate further for us. As everyone reassured us that this happens sometimes and nothing to worry about

IVFat43 · 28/02/2021 22:17

@Rachae sorry to hear this, I think that is shocking tbh and I hope they do investigate further.. Xx

JessTTC · 28/02/2021 22:25

We had 19 eggs on our last retrieval and ended up with 4. An IVF specialist who we have been having some extra tests with was really keen to know the drop off days for our embryos. They think that if you loose majority of eggs days 1-3 then there might be an egg quality issue and if it’s day 3-5 then a sperm issue. I don’t know how much evidence there is to back this up, i tried to look into it more and couldn’t find much - but it was interesting!

willithappen · 28/02/2021 22:57

@JessTTC I heard the same thing about day 1-3 being egg and after being sperm!

I know the number drop off is so disappointing. I feel extremely lucky to have what I currently do (although depending on tomorrow's day 5 update who knows what I will end up with) but I know that having 17 eggs collected and then to get the call the next day we only had 8 fertilize was hard to take. Again despite knowing I was fortunate to even get that, the large drop off rate was a shock. Day 3 update we had 5 good ones so I'm expecting another drop off tomorrow.
I will be over the moon if I can get two frozen honestly.
So scared of the call tomorrow saying none made it to day 5 though :(

Rachae · 28/02/2021 22:59

Thanks @JessTTC 😊 It was days 3-5 for us but it was frustrating in that both our egg and sperm quality tests came back as good. So sort of unexplained. I'm 35 and I've been pregnant 3 times in the past too. (resulted in miscarriages but recently found the cause of these/resolved, thankfully, and not embryo related). It's a mystery until they have another cycles data to compare the outcome to x

MrTumbleTumble · 01/03/2021 09:15

Just had a call from the embryologist - all 3 of our embryos made it to blast! One isn't good enough for freezing sadly, but the best one (top grade and scored really highly in the embryoscope) is being transferred back into me today and one is being frozen. I'm so relieved, I honestly thought they were going to tell me none had made it. Booked in for ET at 2pm and actually really excited about it now. And about my McD's after!

Good luck to everyone else awaiting news today, having procedures and the few who are PUPO. I'm hoping for a lot of positives from this thread over the next few weeks!

thetallgirl · 01/03/2021 09:22

That's great news @MrTumbleTumble hope all goes well today and enjoy your McDs afterwards!

RichmondLady1981 · 01/03/2021 09:22

Congratulations @MrTumbleTumble- that’s a great result!!!

Embryologist just called me too! They said out of my three embryos. that one is a 5BB and they want to send it for testing today. The other two are still going but they want to give them one more day.

To say that there’s 30-50% drop off rate at this stage for my age im pretty pleased. Was dreading having nothing.

All the best ladies for your treatment and updates. 💕

MrTumbleTumble · 01/03/2021 09:27

@RichmondLady1981 thanks - you've got great news too! My last cycle I had a day 6 embryo that ended up being far better quality than one of my day 5's that they froze.

How long does the testing take? Will you have a fresh embryo transfer or will it be a FET?

@thetallgirl thanks Smile

Blessing12 · 01/03/2021 09:31

Good luck ladies with EC & ET this morning.
