Is anyone starting ivf in March/April?
Have had confirmation today I will be starting treatment in March. Been prescribed norethisterone, which I have to take CD21 of my next period (due next week).

@Freya2015 congrats on your transfer and very glad you go through it! I thought the transfer was the most uncomfortable part of it, so I can imagine it was a challenge. You should be proud of yourself :)

@Bethpalmer20 great news!! Very happy for you! Fingers crossed for the next updates x

@Itstime1 so glad you got a frostie! Excellent news :)
Ohhh it would have been nice to have a test day buddy! There's going to be a few of us testing that weekend... Fingers crossed all around

@Lclarke111 good luck for an Easter egg collection! Let us know and good luck for tomorrow's scan. And @Itsjustme2021 for your scan too - I hope you've managed to rest and get your mind off things.

@Crazydoglady123 I had small pieces of chocolate very often throughout stims, but I switched to dark chocolate to be healthier. I'm not sure how much difference chocolate makes but, as @Donimo mentioned, the aim is to increase protein intake.

@Donimo, all good with the trigger? How are you feeling about tomorrow? I'll be thinking of you x

Crazydoglady123 · 01/04/2021 12:59

Amazing news @Bethpalmer20

@Freya2015 congrats on being PUPO!

Thank you @beachbum85. I love chocolate too much to quit it 😂

First injection was easy this morning 🙌 I did have an itchy rash come up for about half hour but was fully gone an hour after.

Lclarke111 · 01/04/2021 13:20

@Donimo excited for you tomorrow!!

Hazza2021 · 01/04/2021 13:46

How is everyone finding the two week wait? I’m finding myself wishing the time away, one minute but also like being in this bubble of is it going to work or not!

6543336787gesgvjhg · 01/04/2021 13:50

@Hazza2021 I'm only day two into it so I'm ok at the minute. I'm back in the office 12th April which is test date so I'm not in a rush to go back so it's a mixed date if you know what I mean.

My transfer was 30th March and they said test 12th April - 13 days after EC. I would of preferred to know the weekend because of going back into the office the 12th. Maybe I'll know by then anyway if aunt flow arrives. Who knows!

Narwhal88 · 01/04/2021 14:08

Hi all, so we had our transfer yesterday and they have frozen another 2. The others didn't make it to the freezer unfortunately.

@6543336787gesgvjhg my test date is 13th April but I will be testing the weekend before as I am also at work that week and want some time to process.

@Bethpalmer20 great news fingers crossed for you for day 5.

@Freya2015 well done on getting through transfer, I found it quite uncomfortable as I really don't like the speculum!

@Crazydoglady123 I ate loads of chocolate during the first few days of stims oops!

6543336787gesgvjhg · 01/04/2021 14:42

@Narwhal88 that's great that you've got two in the freezer though!

I think I'll do the same then it's just convincing hubby to beak the rules lol!

I'm not buying any tests until nearer the time though. Only got a cheap Wilkos one in the house but I'll get some posh ones in nearer the date

6543336787gesgvjhg · 01/04/2021 15:37

How is everyone finding the cyclogest pessaries?

Ganiyatou · 01/04/2021 16:33

@6543336787gesgvjhg cyclogest is given me all the side effects. I am confused if it a symptoms of 🤰 or the pessaries side effects 😅

6543336787gesgvjhg · 01/04/2021 16:36

@Ganiyatou how long have you been taken them? I was literally bloated the first few days and now I don't feel any side effects which is strange so I hope it's working!!

Donimo · 01/04/2021 16:55

@Crazydoglady123 i just haven't eaten chocolate due to trying not to have caffeine. But I'm sure a bit of what you like won't hurt! Glad your first injection went ok.

@Bethpalmer20 great news on the 9 fertilising. How are you feeling today?

@Freya2015 glad your transfer went well, fingers crossed for you

@beachbum85 the trigger was ok thank you. I found this one the most stressful one though. Think it was the precise timing! Also had to keep checking it was all injected as worrying if I missed a bit it wouldn't work!!

@Lclarke111 thank you, have you got another scan tomorrow?

@Narwhal88 good news about your 2, fingers crossed for you.

I am starting to feel really anxious about EC tomorrow. I think its the fear of going to theatre that is getting to me most. My last 2 times in theatre were really traumatic, with a crash complicated csection and prior to that a ruptured 9 week ectopic. For those who have had EC any tips to relax me. And would I be able to listen to some meditation on my phone whilst waiting for sedation do you think?

Bethpalmer20 · 01/04/2021 17:02

@donimo a little sore today and a little bleeding but not half as bad as I thought I'd feel. The clinic just said to keep up liquid intake so I've been drinking loads of water. I was also really nervous about EC having never had sedation or any kind of operation etc, I imagine you are even more anxious given your previous experiences. I'm not sure about listening to meditation but maybe do some tonight and in the morning to get in the right head space? It can't help to ask them if you can listen whilst waiting for sedation too, just let them know you're nervous and they will help put your mind at ease. Once I laid down on the bed the anesthetist started chatting to me about my job and I don't remember anything else, it wasn't half as bad as I thought! Will be thinking of you! X

Lclarke111 · 01/04/2021 17:03

@Donimo I will be having one tomorrow which is my final one before egg collection and they decide when I will be triggering x

Bethpalmer20 · 01/04/2021 17:16

@donimo obviously I meant it can't hurt to ask not it can't help to ask 😂

Lou8319 · 01/04/2021 17:23

@6543336787gesgvjhg cyclone at pessaries are giving me bloating and mild cramps. Actually think it’s the worst of all the drugs!

Lou8319 · 01/04/2021 17:24

@6543336787gesgvjhg cyclogest not cyclone!

beachbum85 · 01/04/2021 17:29

@Donimo glad to hear that's done OK - yes the precise timing is stressful and I had so many alarms set! Luckily, I had a pre-filled pen so that made it slightly easier.
As for EC, I found that as soon as they got me up to get to the theatre, things moved extremely quickly and there was no waiting till they gave me the sedation at all, and then it only takes a couple of minutes to kick in. But there some waiting whilst I was in the pre-op room... My partner was allowed to stay with me there, I could use my phone, and there was also a nurse around who was more than happy to chat and keep us company. Like Beth said, I would tell them that you're feeling nervous as I'm sure they'd be flexible.
Sorry to hear you're feeling so anxious about it, totally understandable given your previous experiences, of course, but this will be nothing like that and it's a very straightforward process really, and quick. They'll take good care of you. Sending you a big hug x

@Narwhal88 congrats on your transfer and your 2 frosties, that's great :) How are you feeling?

@Crazydoglady123 glad the first one is done! Hopefully no more rash for the next ones :)

@Hazza2021 it's such a weird mix of emotions, isn't it?! I quite like being in this bubble, as you describe it, but I think I'm losing it a bit because I've found myself talking to the embryo a couple of times and I know it's going to be hard if this doesn't work, although I know that could very easily be the case.

@6543336787gesgvjhg initially I had really bad side effects (stomach) but much better now 10 days in although still sore boobs, bloating and some cramps. At ET they said I can use them rectally and I much prefer that option but yes @Lou8319 I totally agree they're the worst :(

@Ganiyatou what side effects do you have? Really hoping they're pregnancy symptoms!

PurpleUnicorn01 · 01/04/2021 17:36

@Bethpalmer20

Yayyyyyyyyy

6543336787gesgvjhg · 01/04/2021 17:52

@Donimo good luck for tomorrow. In relation to the sedation, you lie on the bed and the anaesthetist is making conversation with you, the nurse is putting your legs in stirrups. It is literally like 30 seconds and he said to me you will feel like you've had a glass of wine, next thing I hear talking and I'm been wheeled to the recovery room. They said it took 24 mins and it felt like 5 if that in and out. Try and relax. I found the HSG operation more painful that EC.

I know what you mean about the trigger I was holding it for 10 mins watching the clock. I think because it's a pen filled pen and there is one only of them it's scary. Plus the video to watch says call the nurse or Pharmacy if the pen is faulty! Well how do you know if it's faulty if you haven't tried it yet! It seemed to take ages to click through the dose whilst injecting. Just wasn't what I expected at all!!

Lou8319 · 01/04/2021 17:56

@beachbum85 and @6543336787gesgvjhg oh god I forgot about the sore boobs! Don’t know how, they’re so much worse than normal pre-menstrual.
But I’ve had them pretty much since I started stims.

Itstime1 · 01/04/2021 21:09

I’ve eaten more chocolate in the past 2/3 weeks during the whole process than I would normally eat in a year.... It’s made worse that it’s Easter this weekend haha!

@Donimo throughout the whole process the thing I was scared of the most was the sedation. I asked not to see them put the needles in etc and my husband had to answer the questions for me as I completely blanked them out and ignored them whilst doing it! They just laughed. They made me lie down, then it was as like I couldn’t focus as I was really tired so I tried to blink..... woke up 15 minutes later and felt like it was a wonderful nap. No pain at all. Try not to worry too much x

My only ‘side effect’ was I was 10000% more chatty to the nurses and team around me. Usually I’m quiet or focusing but I had a full chat with the embryologist about her degree and how I would consider doing my masters in embryology (we both did the same initial degree in biochem). Poor DH just wanted to know how many eggs they got from me! Haha.

Good luck and stay positive x

And I agree with everyone over the cyclogest. No side effects at all throughout the process except a little bit of bloating at first, theses things have me EXHAUSTED, bloated and generally under the weather... can’t wait to be off them.

Good luck everyone at where you’re all up too, love reading everyone’s updates Smile

Donimo · 01/04/2021 21:14

Thank you all for your reassurance. My husband isn't allowed in with me at all and has to stay in the car, so think that's making it worse. He will just be called for his bit! He told me today his bringing his laptop with us to work in the car whilst waiting!!

Lclarke111 · 02/04/2021 07:19

@Narwhal88 that's great that you got to freeze two!!
@Itstime1 I am glad I am not the only one, I don't usually like chocolate this much lol!! once I have the egg collection though I am on a strict diet as we are having a frozen transfer in June/July, I have to admit now v jealous of you all in the two week wait as I will be a few months behind you!!

@Donimo same for mine and I hate that he can't be in there as it'll be his birthday too, but I am sure he will set up sky on his phone and watch the bank holiday tv lol!! Good luck today, I am getting ready for acupuncture at 8:30 then scan at 12:30 x

Donimo · 02/04/2021 07:39

@Lclarke111 thank you. Good luck for your scan today x

Crazydoglady123 · 02/04/2021 08:26

Good luck today @Donimo
