Is it too soon?

Hi Is anyone starting IVF in January/February next year?

We had our first failed IVF cycle in October and looking to go for our second cycle but the way my periods are it falls over xmas when they are shut.

So we are starting in Jan :)

@unknownscot yep hopefully 4 will make it. That's great you are signed off from work for the duration of the treatment. It's such a stressful time. I think time off just before the transfer and after is important. I didn't do that last time.

Motherofkittens28 · 28/01/2021 18:26

@ZoZoeee123 I have applied for 4 weeks of unpaid leave starting the week before egg collection. I have an extremely stressful job and I want to feel that I've given myself the best possible chance of success. Also just the thought of the time off is all that's keeping me going at the moment!

RichmondLady1981 · 28/01/2021 23:07

@Hopeforsuccess I am doing fertility acupuncture in Chiswick... let me know if that’s convenient and I’ll pass on details- I pay 65/70 quid. @Motherofkittens28 and hopeforsuccess I’m also 39 and would really like to find out how many follicles, eggs, blasts and embryos you got in previous cycles. Would really appreciate that if you don’t mind.

@Mancbear88 thanks for the heads up- I’ve warned my husband now so he’d better watch out! 😆. That link is ridiculous- what complete idiots 🤦🏼‍♀️

Hopeforsuccess · 28/01/2021 23:18

@RichmondLady1981 thank you! Actually Chiswick will be great! If you dont mind giving me the details i would appreciate it. Many many thanks! I have low amh and had 6 eggs (2019) on the one cycle that i did. 5 fertilised out of which one was abnormal 4 went to 5 days but only 2 were full blastocysts and were 5AB and 3B+B+ and were frozen as i stimulated for a bit longer. The 5AB was not successful. So i am hoping the other one might be the lucky one!

indub · 29/01/2021 02:00

@Tarsette I hope your lining is thickening up adequately. It sucks how much a couple of mm's can matter Sad

@Doremifasol Sorry to hear about your d5s and hope one or two make it over the line today to get frozen. Hoping that your current one is sticking fast!

@Ivfnewbie123 The risk is Ovarian Hyperstimulation that your clinic will try to avoid by not giving you high dose meds, and checking your hormones. You are likely to only need lower doses. You may need to have frozen transfers only if your body gets too amped up. Severe OHSS is rare these days but can be very very serious.

@hopefully21 Still plenty of embryos to hope for your PGS normal one to make it to D5/6. As another poster said, your numbers are on track to get your 4, if not more. Fingers crossed for you.

@ZoZoeee123 I've been working through this time and haven't found it too hard physically/mentally but I did have to consider seriously what would happen if my egg collection lined up with onset of covid symptoms or exposure to cases in terms of cancellation... time... future cycle options. Some of that will depend on your clinic rules. It's a lot of work to go through to potentially get knocked out at the end.

All the best for the start of your cycles @IVFat43 and @Whitestripes007

This cycle I've had 12 collected, 10 fertilized, 9 still chugging on day 3 of various goodness. So we'll see what the d5 brings. I look at the embryo pics and vids and have no idea which ones are meant to be the good ones. It's all wobbly bubbles to me. Grin

Ivfnewbie123 · 29/01/2021 02:13

Thanks @indub Hopefully it’s nothing bad! I’m new to this forum stuff so thanks for replying. Wishing everyone the best for their cycles! I’m a bit scared about the whole process so it’s lovely to see so much positivity!

Ivfnewbie123 · 29/01/2021 03:07

@ZoZoeee123 @kikisparks this was sumthin I was wondering about too re. Time off. I would rather not tell my employers and I work from home so thought I’d kind of get away with it as long as I schedule appointments on days off (which I should be able to do) Bit worried about the hormones driving me crazy and making work harder to cope with. Last thing we need is more stress, right?

hopefully21 · 29/01/2021 07:20

@indub yes I'm hoping and praying for good news tomorrow. The thoughts of another cycle...
You did well. 9 still there on on day 3. Fingers crossed for you that you get a good number of blasts!

hopefully21 · 29/01/2021 07:24

@Motherofkittens28 I love seeing people taking time off. I really think the fact that I didn't last time effected my poor result..failed fet. We all need to give this everything. Work is work...Best of luck.

hopefully21 · 29/01/2021 07:28

@RichmondLady1981 I think that medication basically puts you into menopause so yes it would effect ovulation..I think. Best of luck with your cycle.

thetallgirl · 29/01/2021 07:50

@indub when you say you can see the pics and videos of the embryos, is that because you have embryoscope? I'm curious, do you they get uploaded to the portal? I've indicated I'd like embryoscope (not guaranteed due to availability) but they've never mentioned being able to see the pictures myself.

Hope the next few days brings good news for you!

MF1981 · 29/01/2021 08:08

Hey guys had my transfer yesterday. Was a bit uncomfortable but all went well. @RichmondLady1981 I’m 39, 40 in March so happy to share my story if it helps?

kikisparks · 29/01/2021 09:10

Congrats on being PUPO @MF1981!

We have embryoscope as standard at our clinic but don't get update pictures. Any that make it to day 5 you can request a video of the progression.
Our clinic were very sensitive and asked if we still wished our video to be available after our failed FET - which we said yes to. I've saved it and it's lovely to have. Also it put me at ease a bit as it was low grade and was visibly noticeable so it make me feel slightly better about the unsuccessful FET.

I know @Gardenlady543 had embryoscope and her clinic gave her likely success rate percentages. We never received that although perhaps you need to ask specifically.

unknownscot · 29/01/2021 09:13

@MF1981

Congratulations on being PUPO. I have everything crossed. Hope you're doing okay xx

unknownscot · 29/01/2021 09:26

Just had our day 3 update, so out of the 5 fertilised 4 are progressing but fragmented. Out of those four they can't tell how many cells they've divided into. Judging by the embryoscope score 1 could potentially be strong to make it.

Update on Monday to see if we have any for freezing.

So disappointed.

MF1981 · 29/01/2021 09:28

Thanks guys. I’m ok but feel very conscious of every move I make - I bent down to take my shoes off and thought oh no I shouldn’t be bending! Had slight cramping yesterday and during the night but all seems quiet this morning. I’m tired but I guess that’s due to the excitement and getting up early yesterday - it was a long day!

Motherofkittens28 · 29/01/2021 09:35

@RichmondLady1981 this is my first cycle but will update when I get to egg collection stage. I had my eggs frozen 4 years ago and at that time I got 6 mature to freeze but my amh is lower now.

Gardenlady543 · 29/01/2021 10:57

@unknownscot this is why I’m not a fan of the updates between day 1 and 5, I feel it adds a lot of uncertainty. I managed to completely switch off as I didn’t get any updates at all. I really hope that those 4 get it together and make it to day 5, but there’s still 1 really strong one and that’s really good news!

jonrik · 29/01/2021 11:15

Aww I'm so sorry to hear that @unknownscot, that would be very disappointing to hear. Try not to stress too much over the weekend.
I do wonder whether it's useful getting these updates or whether we'd be better waiting until we know what we have to work with. It feels like it just adds stress?

unknownscot · 29/01/2021 11:35

Yeah I know what you mean. At first I was wishing we hadn't been updated, but also, it's pushed me to research into natural modified ivf and other things I could look into to increase quality rather than quantity.

kikisparks · 29/01/2021 12:08

@unknownscot oh so sorry to hear that- but things can definitely improve between day 3 and day 5. My clinic don’t give a day 3 update (unless you’re getting a day 3 transfer), I think for that reason.

thirteen92 · 29/01/2021 12:15

I hope everyone is doing ok!

I’ve just had egg collection and feeling a bit disappointed. I had 21 follicles, they drained 12 of them and got 6 eggs.

I just thought I’d have more eggs due to the number of follicles I had plus the fact my age (28) and amh level is normal.

Anyone had similar numbers to be? We’re having icsi... I pray we end up with some blastocysts. I’d love 1 transferred and to have 1 in the freezer 🤞🏻

Lola98 · 29/01/2021 12:56

Mine just came back as BFN :(

Mancbear88 · 29/01/2021 13:28

@thirteen92 I had 42 follicles and got 8 eggs, so understand the disappointment, but then from the 8 eggs I got 7 fertilised and 3 5AA blasts and 1 6AA blast.

@Lola98 sorry to hear that is it your official test day?
