@unknownscot 34 is amazing! Fingers crossed for some good news for you this morning.

kikisparks · 27/01/2021 08:57

@unknownscot wow 34 is a lot! Hope lots fertilise and you get plenty of rest!

unknownscot · 27/01/2021 08:59

Thanks for the messages - unfortunately only 5 out of the 34 have fertilised.
Feeling a bit low about it but we just need to wait and see what happens over the next few days.

I was sick last night and feel very uncomfortable this morning. So hoping it passes and I manage to eat something.

Wishing you all the best x

Bells3032 · 27/01/2021 09:04

@unknownscot oh no. Keeping fingers crossed for those 5 little ones. 34 is a lot to get. Just be kind to yourself and keep well.

kikisparks · 27/01/2021 09:08

Oh so sorry to hear that, but hopefully you will still end up with a couple of blastocysts and it only takes one. Hope you can eat something and that the discomfort passes quickly for you.

Tarsette · 27/01/2021 09:15

@unknownscot oh so sorry to hear that... I had 52 eggs upon egg retrieval and the fertilisation rate was pretty low. I was told that sometimes when you get many, the quality can lag a bit. But the having too few is also worrying. You just can’t win... BUT having 5 is a good number. If you end up with 1 or 2 too quality ones, your chances are very good!

@Gardenlady543 I’m on 200 ui of Gonal F as this seems to be the only way my body can absorb oestrogen (ie when it makes it itself in large quantities!). I previously got to 8mm on that protocol but it has somehow stopped working and my doctor won’t transfer under 7.5mm

Doremifasol · 27/01/2021 09:43

Regarding pain after egg collection and embryo transfer- I have quite a lot of sharp pain in my right ovary and it's kind of worse now than immediately after/day after egg collection which was on Sat morning. I am planning to give my clinic a call if it the pain doesn't subside by tomorrow but just wondered if anyone can share their experience- is it normal? I had only 6 eggs so I guess OHSS is not likely or am I mistaken?🧐

Birdladybird · 27/01/2021 09:45

@unknownscot 5 is still a good number! I only had 4 mature and fertilised and have ended up with 3 good quality embryos.

I'm currently 5dp3dt. Symptom spotting like crazy. I've had niggly cramps on my lower right side, plus my DH is convinced my boobs feel bigger Grin but of course could just be the drugs or AF?

Gardenlady543 · 27/01/2021 10:03

@unknownscot I’m sorry to hear that, but 5 is still good! I hope these are really strong embryos! What were your numbers like last cycle for you, I think I remember you getting 1 blast? Did they consider ICSI? As Tarsette said it’s a bit of a balance when it comes to numbers.

@Doremifasol do give the clinic a call, I was told that the follicles can fill with blood after EC meaning the ovaries stay a similar size and if people get pregnant that they can stay big throughout the pregnancy, which petrified me as I was in a lot of pain before EC. But luckily the pain subsided pretty quickly after my EC, so might be worth a call now to see what they say?

@Tarsette that’s good that you’re on something that you know is getting in your system. It seems unfair not to implant unless it’s over 7.5mm as I know my specialist said she’s happy with 7mm, hopefully it won’t come to that, but might be worth you pushing for it if it ends up borderline? Still plenty of time to go though!

I'd be giving the clinic a ring - especially as it's been a few days now. I hope it settles, keep us posted though.

unknownscot · 27/01/2021 10:11

@Gardenlady543
Yes, you're correct. First cycle we had 22 eggs, 14 fertilised and 1 blast.
We've been ICSI both times.

We're hoping these 5 fertilised as they are strong and can withstand the journey ahead 🤞🏼

Gardenlady543 · 27/01/2021 10:15

@unknownscot that’s good that you had ICSI, it sounds like you and the clinic did everything you could. These things are so unpredictable, I know you had 14 fertilized last time, but the numbers don’t mean anything if all these 5 are as good (even better!) as the 1 that made it to a blast last time! I have everything crossed, I think you were in the embryoscope last time, so is your next update day 5? If so I hope you can take your mind off it. Did you mention it’s a freeze all that your having?

unknownscot · 27/01/2021 10:21

@Gardenlady543

Yes, embryoscope. We get a day 3 call and the day 6 (as day 5 falls on a Sunday) - although they will be checked on day 5.

And yes, freeze all so looking around 12 March for ET going by last cycles dates.

Gardenlady543 · 27/01/2021 11:07

@unknownscot ah that’s good That you’ll be getting some updates soon, well you’ve done your bit, so I hope you can have a nice bit of relaxation time!

summerson · 27/01/2021 11:33

What's an embryo scope? I'll have to take a google.

I am massively emotional 🤦‍♀️😭 poor husband!

32 eggs is a huge amount... sorry for the "low" fertilisation rate but as others say, it only takes one. One or two good ones is surely better than 10 poor ones. Equally at this stage we are all at, we'll take whatever we can get I'm sure!! Poor or not!

I had ohss last time with a clinic who downplayed it. This time I have a doctor who is such a faffer and worried they are rather concerned for ohss and have mentioned twice about a freeze all cycle which I don't want.

Re: lining, I always have thin lining and had a successful pregnancy after transfer at 6.5mm! My next scan is on Saturday (day 5/6 of stims) so I wonder what lining will look like then. Wonder if Gonal-F will make a difference compared to the other drugs I had before (Fostimon).

IVFat43 · 27/01/2021 12:02

Day 1 today and I’m finally off on this journey.. 😃 I officially start Menopur 1200iu tomorrow night...! Eek 😬
I’m a little worried reading the posts how I’ll react, cope with the injections and the side effects..but really trying to stay positive and will take one day at a time..
Scans are booked for next Monday, Wednesday, Friday with egg collection provisionally booked for Monday 8th..
Feeling a tad excited 😝

Gardenlady543 · 27/01/2021 12:46

@summerson An embryoscope is where the embryos are in an incubator with microscopes inside them, they are watched 24/7, how they move and grow, the clinic can use that data to pick the best. You can ask if your clinic has that kind of incubator, it’s included in my package with access fertility, but most clinics charge more and you need to book a slot usually. That’s interesting about your lining, @Tarsette may be keen to discuss further if it comes to her specialist saying no to a transfer if she’s just under.

@IVFat43 yay! I was on menopur and I was absolutely fine, I started to get a pressure pain around my ovaries but I have a high AFC and it was only close to egg collection that it came in, a lot of people don’t get that at all. I didn’t get any hormonal symptoms at all. So don’t worry too much!

Whitestripes007 · 27/01/2021 16:48

Hi,

Hope I’m not too late to join. I’m day 1 today so will start injecting tomorrow night. I’m really lucky that I had a successful ICSI cycle 3 years ago (2 eggs retrieved, 1 fertilised and stuck!) so this is my second round. Unfortunately my AMH has dropped down to 2 (it was only 5 before though) so I’m trying not to get my hopes up as I think we might have used all of our luck up last time!

Keeping everything crossed for everyone else starting now!

RichmondLady1981 · 27/01/2021 17:00

Hi ladies.

This is going to sound like a really silly question. I’m just about to start my very first IVF cycle and am started northisterone yesterday at 7am.

Yesterday morning at 6am I got my peak on an OPK and got the usual one sided pain of ovulation starting to build. Took my very first northisterone pill at 7am. When I used an OPK at lunchtime there was ABSOLUTELY no test line on the strip. At all! I was kind of hoping this was my last ditch natural attempt at conceiving before the IVF begins. I read a a few people fell lucky and conceived on northisterone during their down ref just before IVF so was trying to do the same. My questions are :-

  1. Do you think the medicine stopped me from ovulating? It is prosthetic progesterone I guess. Annoying that I took the pill just before ovulation and now the pain has subsided so I don’t know if I have ovulated or not.
  1. Is this the correct time for me to be ovulating (whilst taking this first tablet to downreg? )

Can anyone enlighten me. I know many of you are wondering why I’m even bothered and probably should focus on IVF now but every opportunity to make a baby is precious. Wanted this to be one last natural try.

I have emailed my specialist these questions but just waiting for him to call. Thought you ladies would be more efficient.

Congratulations to everyone who’s had their collections! Great numbers. Everything crossed for sparkling Embryos.

Ps- anyone report any negative side affects of northisterone

Motherofkittens28 · 27/01/2021 20:26

@Whitestripes007 best of luck. Your story gives me hope as my AMH is 5.2 and I'm not overly confident that ivf will work, so wonderful to here that you got your bundle of joy at that sort of level. I am 39 though so maybe my age will be a bigger factor than the AMH, who knows! I start downregulating on Saturday, are you on a long or short protocol?

Whitestripes007 · 27/01/2021 21:34

@motherofkittens28 Is this your first round? Apologies if you’ve posted this further back. I was very lucky that the egg that fertilised turned into a 5AA so it’s definitely about quality not quantity. I previously had a long protocol however, now my AMH has declined further I’ve been advised only a short protocol is worth trying. Good luck for the down reg!!

hopefully21 · 27/01/2021 21:54

@PT8998 and @kikisparks thanks yes fingers crossed! Thanks @jonrik I feel very tired. A few things today but was able to work. Working from home is great while doing ivf. I feel stressed too. I think I will just feel that way until day 5. Need to keep busy. Day 3 update tomorrow. Just want it over with now.

jonrik · 27/01/2021 22:13

Not much longer @hopefully21. The waiting game is stressful. My mind is going round and round and I can't really concentrate on anything.

EC went well for me this morning. 17 eggs retrieved and I'm looking forward to the call in the morning to hear how many fertilised.

Wait wait wait Grin

unknownscot · 27/01/2021 22:26

@jonrik
Best of luck for day 1 update tomorrow 🤞🏼

@hopefully21
I'm hopeful for you getting your day 3 update. Did they give you an estimated time of call?

The waiting isn't nice. I'm signed off work currently so trying to keep myself occupied!

X

IVFat43 · 27/01/2021 22:32

@Gardenlady543 thank you, this is reassuring.. I don’t know why but today I’ve had terrible cramps and pains lower stomach and in the pelvic area. I’m wondering if it has anything to do with norethisterone, I didn’t have any problem whilst taking it, so I’m not sure if it’s brought on a period that caused the pain.. 🙄..

@jonrik @hopeful182 good luck 🤞
