Is it too soon?

Hi Is anyone starting IVF in January/February next year?

We had our first failed IVF cycle in October and looking to go for our second cycle but the way my periods are it falls over xmas when they are shut.

So we are starting in Jan :)

Hi all - had our nurse meeting today on the phone. She ran through the cycle and what I need to do. I start taking progynova on the 13th December for 10 days then I start Bemfola days after that and then my first scan will be new years eve! I thought we would have to wait until end of Jan to start but she said no because they are going to control my cycle better this time! Scared and nervous now!

How is everyone else? xx

MF1981 · 02/12/2020 16:55

Thanks @jm2020. I’m based in the midlands and am with Nurture. We got 4 good little embryos so I’m feeling hopeful. It just feels like ages away until we can transfer! x

jm2020 · 03/12/2020 15:49

Is it ok if I join? I had my first cycle in Sept but ended with a MMC last month. Looks like we’ll be having our first FET around Feb time and no idea what it will involve, feeling a bit anxious about the whole thing and desperate to get going again

jm2020 · 04/12/2020 05:06

Welcome @louloulemons so sorry to hear about your MMC :( I had a failed fresh cycle with none frozen so I’m having to go through it all again - I hope 2021 brings us all joy xxx

@louloulemons I had the same expect did my first cycle end of August and found out about MMC end of October. I didn’t get any frozen so have to do it all again which i will hopefully be doing in Feb too. I’m still waiting for my period after so it all depends on when it decides to arrive haha

Mrbay · 04/12/2020 11:34

Hi All

@jm2020 - how exciting!! Just remember, enjoy the festive period :)

Sorry to hear about your MMCs @louloulemons @Alexm06.

No real update on my side, apart from I'm hitting the healthy eating choices hard, I need to lose a stone before I start at the end of Jan, which I think is a little impossible so I'll be happy with 1/2 a stone by then. I've increased my daily fruit and veg and brought more filling snacks (nuts mainly). I'm on day 5 and I feel so much better for not eating tons of rubbish each evening. Bonus is DH is lovely the roasted veg tray bakes - so easy but so tasty! Why at age 33 have I never done that before?!

louloulemons · 04/12/2020 21:17

Thanks for the welcome and sorry to hear you’ve been through it too @Alexm06. I’ve no idea when my period will show either. Consultant told me yesterday it doesn’t matter as I’ll be waiting until Feb for an appointment anyway!

@Mrbay I’ve been trying to get back on the healthy eating too. So hard at this time of year!

Alexm06 · 04/12/2020 21:52

@louloulemons oh wow. Must be a very busy clinic. I have to call on my January period then they will then put me on provera (I think that’s it) on like day 21 of that cycle so they can control when my next period will start and then start injections again then. Hopefully you can start straight away!

louloulemons · 05/12/2020 18:43

It’s an NHS clinic but yes massively busy, it covers a huge area. It’s usually a 3 month wait to see a consultant!

Bet you’re counting down the days until January. I’m still trying to work out the process for a FET. Hoped the consultant would go into a bit more detail but she was a bit vague. Apparently I’ll be getting a fact sheet in the post! Marvellous!

Mrbay · 05/12/2020 23:13

@ivfhope3 come join us here 😊❤

@louloulemons - it's so hard to stay on track but I've managed to walk over 8 miles today and apparently burnt 3000 cals so if that doesn't burn off at least a stone, I'll be pissed 🤣🤣

MF1981 · 06/12/2020 09:14

Hope you find us @ivfhope3

ivftake3 · 06/12/2020 09:21

Yay I've found you ❤️.. what a journey..
I can see a lot of ladies on here from before ❤️🥰 I hope you are all well.

@jm2020 I was literally just thinking about you!

@Mrbay my thread bestie ❤️🥰..

@MF1981 how are you my lovely 💕.. thank you for adding me again. I could see the tag but couldn't find you all xx

jm2020 · 06/12/2020 09:25

Hi @ivftake3 Welcome!

I'm getting worried now - I'm meant to start medication next week but haven't had my meds delivered and fertility2u haven't even been in touch - I might phone them tomoz.

How's everyone else doing? xx

OP posts:
ivftake3 · 06/12/2020 09:29

@jm2020 oh no yes defo give them a ring..

Mines been cancelled again this time that's twice now. I'm asking for a medicated one I think. An obvs missed out on the other months because of the problems I was having that they didn't pick up on. Just all a mess over here really xx

Alexm06 · 06/12/2020 09:39

@louloulemons yeah mines an nhs one too but think they can do private too. Guess it must be the area. A fact sheet in the post! Jesus is that what they said to you at the follow up appointment? Yeah definitely counting the day just want this period to come so at least I will have a rough estimate on dates!

louloulemons · 06/12/2020 09:53

Yeah I was really upset tbh. I’d pinned a lot of hopes on the follow up appointment. I thought I’d come away with dates, a plan and an idea of the process to focus on. What actually happened was she spoke really fast, she was rattling papers so I could hardly hear what she was saying (all on the phone because of COVID). She wizzes through my history casually mentioning I have PCOS which has never been mentioned in 3 years at the clinic and telling me to go and get acupuncture, and then said something about natural cycles and long protocols. At the end she said any questions, and I was like, well yes loads! Which cycle am I doing, what does it involve, how soon can I start after miscarriage?! And she just said, oh it will be at least Feb before you get your information session anyway, you can’t have natural cycle you might not ovulate, I’ll send you a letter with some details and what vitamins to take (been on those for 4.5 years already!) Had a little cry afterwards and then tried to put my big girl pants on!!!

@ivftake3 sorry to hear your cycle has been cancelled. Hope you can get some answers soon.

@Mrbay 8 miles!!! I am so impressed!!!

@jm2020 I’d definitely phone them tomorrow if only just for a bit of peace of mind.

Mrbay · 06/12/2020 12:34

Afternoon all!

Sorry to have you back on a board again @ivftake3 but I do love your posts so selfishly it's nice to have you!

@louloulemons - that is crap! You need to be your own advocate, at your next appointment have your list of questions and if she tries to rattle through, just say 'excuse me, can I just check my understanding, do you mean XYZ? It's just that this is very complex and I want to fully understand it all, so please slow the fuck down!'

But if you have any questions, just ask away a few of us have been through this too many times.

I'm feeling the 8miles today, well so is the pup! So lazy day for us today as I'll probably get around 4 miles in. Oh I do have a horse, so some of today's miles was ridden! Plus yesterday was another hobby that got me crawling around in the mud, sliding down hills and wondering if I was going to break my ankle!

Alexm06 · 06/12/2020 16:03

@louloulemons oh wow thats just ridiculous so you don’t even know if you will start in Feb your just getting an information session. I’ve seen so many stories of clinic just rushing people in and out. God well I hope that they work with you a bit better in Feb!

ivftake3 · 07/12/2020 07:40

@Mrbay aww thank you ❤️ it's been a long bloody journey!! But we're in it together again.. 💕..

I'm going to call the clinic today and say I want to do a medicated cycle. So far 3 natural cycles have been cancelled it was supposed to be the cheaper option but provided it's not! Has anyone has a medicated cycle cancelled? I feel with this they can monitor most things.

I haven't seen my partner in 5 weeks it was the first weekend the one just gone and omg I've realised how bloody messy he is.. I'm not even joking.. I've never seen anything like it. Towels clothes and bloody socks! And he reckons he's tidy !! Drive me mad 🤣🙈
