Is it too soon?

Hi Is anyone starting IVF in January/February next year?

We had our first failed IVF cycle in October and looking to go for our second cycle but the way my periods are it falls over xmas when they are shut.

So we are starting in Jan :)

So I had my ovarian assessment back in November but I’ve not had a doctor’s consultation yet to discuss. I’m going privately so I’m waiting for my husband to have his analysis and then we’ll just pay for one consultation. But there’s been sum delay with his appointment and I’m going mental wondering if my results are normal. I’m 34. My Amh level was 33 and I had 17 follicles. It also said I had high risk of excess response to ovarian stimulation. Is there anything I should be worried about in that?

hopefully21 · 28/01/2021 06:23

@jonrik 17 wow that's great news! Can't wait to hear how they got on over night. Everything crossed for you!!

hopefully21 · 28/01/2021 06:27

@unknownscot thanks for the vote of confidence! I am praying it's good news. Oh that's great you are off work. You need the least amount of stress as possible. S to watch on Netflix!

hopefully21 · 28/01/2021 06:28

Lots to watch on Netflix!

Bells3032 · 28/01/2021 11:54

@jonrik well. A perfect number. Good luck with the call tomorrow. Hope they are all. Perfect and grow and grow:)

Had my second stim last night. I swear I am getting pinging in my ovaries and can feel the foliciles growing already. Probably just psychosomatic.

First scan tomorrow. Having a bit of a nightmare with the communication with my clinic atm. They never call back, they never explain things. They are more expensive than Harley Street. If they weren't so. Convenient (a five min drive away) I honestly wouldn't bother.

jonrik · 28/01/2021 12:00

Hi all,

I had my call and we had 15 mature out of the 17 and 9 fertilised. Delighted with that!
@Bells3032, that's annoying re your clinic. Have you addressed the communication issue with them before?

Bells3032 · 28/01/2021 12:05

@jonrik thats brilliant

No I haven't but when I go to the clinic tomorrow think Ill ask to see the director.

Emmalouise11 · 28/01/2021 12:06

Great numbers @jonrik are you having a fresh transfer or frozen, dont know if you’ve said previously. X

Mancbear88 · 28/01/2021 12:11

@RichmondLady1981 i get extreme PMT on northisterone. I always say to my husband that it doesn’t affect my mood he just chooses the time I’m on it to be an unreasonable dick when he’s not any other time 😂 I also have a tendency to cry!

You’ll all be glad to know IVF is really easy and not only that you can pick what sex and how many babies you get. Or at least that’s what Paris Hilton reckons. I realise it’s journalism for attention but it did infuriate me today making it sound so easy!

hopefully21 · 28/01/2021 12:25

@jonrik 9 is great! Same as me. Great start!

hopefully21 · 28/01/2021 12:27

I just had day 3 call and not sure what to think??

1 has 8 cells
1 has 7 cells
2 have 6 cells
1 has 5 cells
3 have 4 cells
1 very fragmented.

Embryologist said not to expect 6 embryos this time around. She said 4 were OK the rest slow. She didn't sound very positive.not sure what to think.

Birdladybird · 28/01/2021 12:32

I'm sure that anything thats 6 or more cells on day 3 is good?

Hopeforsuccess · 28/01/2021 12:35

Hello Ladies! I am not very active on this but i am Glad that a lot of you are having very good number of eggs and embryos.
I also get like this on Noretheristone and severe constipation this time and bloating @Mancbear88!
@Motherofkittens28 i am also 39 and low amh and had 6 eggs and 2 very good quality embryos. No success yet but fingers crossed for this round.
I was doing acupuncture for my previous failed fet and j want to do again! Any recommendations in central/west london (zone 2)? I researched it and prices are way high to 100 per hour! I used to do it at 70 pounds.

kikisparks · 28/01/2021 13:03

@Mancbear88 that Paris Hilton article is shocking! Yes we’re all going through this as we can just pick the number of babies we want Hmm

hopefully21 · 28/01/2021 13:35

@Birdladybird thanks. That would hopefully mean 4 which is the minimum I need. Fingers crossed! The stress!!

jonrik · 28/01/2021 13:37

@hopefully21, I think that's quite normal. From everything I've read about half of the fertilised eggs get to blastocyst stage so if you end up with 4 out of 9 that would be exactly what they'd expect?
Try not to worry too much, there's still time for the others to catch up!

hopefully21 · 28/01/2021 13:44

@jonrik thanks :) . Yep not so bad then. Need to stay positive!

Motherofkittens28 · 28/01/2021 13:46

@Whitestripes007, yes this is my first round so im realistic about chances of success just want to get going!
@Hopeforsuccess thats a great result, fingers crossed for a similar one this round. I had my eggs frozen 4 years ago and got 6 mature so I think if I got that many mature again I'd be over the moon, it is likely to be less though given the time thats gone by. Should find out in 4 weeks!

unknownscot · 28/01/2021 16:11

@hopefully21
That looks like a great number growing nicely so far, perhaps the others may catch up.

Can I ask why 4 is the minimum you need?

ZoZoeee123 · 28/01/2021 16:43

Hi Everyone,

I have just joined this forum as I am starting IVF (short cycle) when my next period starts. Hope everyone is getting on ok. It is good to know about others going through the same thing.

Can I ask what you are all doing about time off work? I work in a hospital so nurses suggested working at home before egg collection because of COVID. My boss knows about the IVF but I think I am just going to say to my colleagues that I am having a minor op. I'm probbaly going to take some annual leave afterwards as my work is quite stressful. It's hard not being able to give any definite dates though!

I wish you all lots of luck on your own journeys xxx

Doremifasol · 28/01/2021 16:50

Most likely we haven't got any to freeze. I am devastated. The clinic said they'll give it a go until tomorrow but it doesn't look promissing.

kikisparks · 28/01/2021 16:55

So sorry to hear that @Doremifasol but you have one on board and it only takes one, really fingers crossed for you.

@ZoZoeee123 I work from home just now and will probably take the day off for embryo transfer. My last cycle I used annual leave but my boss knows now and at the moment has been very supportive and said to take the time I need.

hopefully21 · 28/01/2021 17:41

@unknownscot thanks yes fingers crossed. We are doing pgs. At my age 41.5 I'd be lucky to get 1 normal embryo in 3 or 4

hopefully21 · 28/01/2021 17:45

@Doremifasol sorry hear that. Try to focus on the one you have. You will hopefully get lucky with this one. Try to not add to the stress...I know easier said than done. Doing something relaxing tonight.

unknownscot · 28/01/2021 17:50

@hopefully21
Ah , I remember you saying you were doing PGS now.
Numbers looks good so hopefully the 4 make it and maybe some catch up?! X

@ZoZoeee123
I work front line NHS too and have been signed off for the length of my treatment too.
