Hi,
After 2 years TTC #1 we are now eventually on the IVF bus! Should have started in June but Covid put a stop to that and after lots of back/forth with our NHS clinic we've got our treatment planning appointment on Friday and will be on the long protocol so probably starting mid- end of December!
Would love to have some ladies join me!
I've been creeping on other IVF threads but haven't been able to fully take part.

Hey,
Nice to meet you :)
So we’ve been ttc since March 2019 and have in the last month seen the clinic and been for all our initial tests. Still need to go for more tests but it’s come back that my partner has a low sperm count which is likely the reason why we haven’t got pregnant yet. Not sure when and what treatment route we will go down but nice to chat with someone going through the same process.

Have you had your tests done yet?

willithappen · 03/11/2020 13:47

Hey!

I thiiink I may be in this month with you! I have appointment 26th Nov and I believe that's to discuss treatment plan and get things started. Not 100% sure when we will start though.
99% sure it's our top of the list appointment though.

I wasn't sure if they would start anything in Dec in case it lands over the festive period? How are you feeling about doing things during that time?

Bells3032 · 03/11/2020 14:48

Me please.

Planning to start in Jan. We haven't been TTC at all. DH had childhood cancer in his piturity so all the hormone creation is damaged. We had a SA 18 months ago before we got married and his count was 10. After 18 months of treatment it is now up to 200k which is enough for ICSI.

I am 32 and came off the coil in September and now my hormones are all over the place. had my scan last week and my folicle count was 9 and looked like i was about to ovulate, then i got what i think it my period less than a week later so we are all confused. So no idea if that was my AFC or not or if it will be higher or lower than that. My AMH has also come back at 6.5 which is very disappointing.

We are waiting for January as the urologist said another few months on his new drugs should double DH's sperm count and also hoping to move house this month so want to be settled in before the stress of IVF.

Have an appointment next week to go over protocols etc i think

HIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII

Kiza · 03/11/2020 19:17

@Gsr14 hi, yes we've had all the tests and some of them twice. I'm 40 and have slightly low AMH and my partner has low motility so we think the combination is a factor for us. We've been pregnant twice but both mc.
Fingers crossed IvF works for us!
There's lots your partner can do for sperm count: the obvious of no alcohol/smoke/caffeine/ healthy weight/ keeping the testicles cool 😎 . Alongside vitamin E, Zinc & Lycopene.

@willithappen hey welcome to the club! I'm going to be on the long protocol so will start down reg around 21st Dec so will only need to go in for scans which can be around the couple of days they are closed for Xmas. Do you have any idea what protocol you may be on?

@Bells3032 welcome ☺️ that's incredible the treatment has improved how count so much, think we may also have ICSI but not sure. Are you with nhs or private?

How old are you? My AMH was 5.9 but as I've just turned 40 they said they would've hoped it would be between 6-10 so I'm only just under the baseline 🤞🏼

Bells3032 · 03/11/2020 19:21

@kiza I'm only 32. So at least that's on my side

LJM83 · 03/11/2020 19:32

Hi all - I'm due to have my second frozen trf in Jan so am pleased to join this group, it makes it feel closer when there is a relevant group on the go!

We're having IVF for unexplained secondary infertility. Fresh cycle was unsuccessful and I had an early miscarriage with my first frozen last month.

I live on an island that doesnt have the facilities for IVF so I have to travel to the UK, having to wait until January to avoid being in isolation over Christmas - which would go down too well with our DD! Looking forward to getting this cycle started x

willithappen · 03/11/2020 23:06

Not too sure which protocol I'll be on, or even what they are to be honest. Will find out more hopefully on 26th Nov
The only thing I know is I have a high AFC so I don't know if that affects anything or if they will just try me on something and see

Kiza · 04/11/2020 18:30

@Bells3032 are you one of the lucky ones who gets 3 rounds free on the nhs?

@LJM83 welcome to the group, sorry to hear you've experienced loss already, this journey can be so heart wrenching at times. I'm assuming you'll be starting Stims in Jan?

@willithappen Ahhh I see, have all your questions ready for your appointment on the 26th. Ours is on Friday and I've already got an A4 list of questions! 😆

OP posts:
Bells3032 · 04/11/2020 18:35

@kiza we are going straight to private (thankfully. My. In laws have saved money for this so we have budget for as many rounds as we like) my council pays for one round with one fresh and one frozen

willithappen · 04/11/2020 19:04

@Kiza oh maybe I'll need to take some of your questions haha. What kind of things are you asking? I feel a bit lost with it all

Kiza · 04/11/2020 20:03

@willithappen this is a really good starting point: theduff.co.uk
I'd advise reading up as much as you can to understand it all as it's quite a complex process and having the knowledge and understanding can help with the emotional rollercoaster of the IVF journey!

@Bells3032 that's really sweet they've saved up for him and thought that far ahead.
I'm getting excited about our appointment on Friday, feels like it's been such a long journey of TTC for over 2 years and I know IVF is not a guarantee but I feel so much better that we are now getting help along the way.

willithappen · 04/11/2020 20:54

Amazing thank you!

Let me know how you get on with the appointment on Friday! Excited for you!!

LJM83 · 05/11/2020 06:36

@Kiza thank you - yes it certainly is!

During my fresh cycle I ended up with two frozen embryos so I am having the second one of those put back in January, so no stimulation medication. I will start the meds in prep for the transfer at the end of Nov / early Dec depending when my AF shows up. I presume, due to the miscarriage, my cycle might be a bit screwed up so I will just have to wait and see x

Bells3032 · 05/11/2020 13:44

So thinking about moving up to Dec as looks like we won't be able to move til January. Little bit worried about starting in Dec but cest la vie

Kiza · 05/11/2020 16:52

@LJM83 forgive me for asking but I'm curious what meds do you have to take for FET? Is it to get your lining thick?

@Bells3032 not all clinics close over the Christmas period, our NHS clinic literally only close for 2 days so depending upon when you start and what protocol you're on you may be fine?
Keep us posted with your planning appointment next week.

OP posts:
LJM83 · 05/11/2020 17:07

@Kiza don't apologise, I'm not 100% sure myself! 😂 to start with the medication is to suppress ovulation and then you move onto something for your lining and then luteal support - there are more injections with FET then fresh and it takes slightly longer, 8 weeks in all for the protocol I'm on x

Kiza · 05/11/2020 17:27

@LJM83 here's me assuming FET was shorter and simpler than fresh! Do you have a rough idea when your period may start?

OP posts:
LJM83 · 05/11/2020 17:30

@Kiza yes, I thought exactly the same - just rock up at the right time of the month and hey presto but nope!

Erm, I think it will probably be in the next two - three weeks, my cycle is normally very predictable but after the treatment / miscarriage I'm expecting it to be slight disrupted x

Bells3032 · 05/11/2020 20:26

@kiza yeah we rung the clinic. They said they're only closed the bank holidays and even then there will be an emergency contact for us.

My main issue is my TOTM is still all over the place from the coil. Not sure when i should start then. I apparently ovulated two weeks ago (I had an initial scan) and they said i was about to but my period came less than a week later

Bells3032 · 05/11/2020 20:26

I can't believe frozen takes more drugs than fresh!!!!!

Kiza · 06/11/2020 16:15

Just had our treatment planning option, she queried why we weren't having ICSI given DP low morphology as we are only funded for IVF, we said we didn't know as we assumed.
She hung up the call and phoned the director who agreed to ICSI, got to have some STI bloods as ours are over a year old. She will post out the blood forms and numerous consent forms and then we're good to go for my next cycle which I think will be just before Xmas.

Bit overwhelmed by the amount of injections and scans and how I'm going to fit it all in with work but also so excited that we are finally here!!

OP posts:
Bells3032 · 06/11/2020 16:25

@Kiza what is your DP's morphology. We are having ICSI too. I am on a fb group about IVF and the amount of medication is insane.

We have our appt on Tues but no idea when we can get started. ASAP hopefully.

Kiza · 06/11/2020 16:41

@Bells3032 he's had 2 SA and both came back with 1% morphology. He produces an insane amount and his motility is 85% so they said his low morphology shouldn't really be a factor of us not being able to conceive, however they opted for ICSI anyway which we are happy about.
I think I'm going to look for an IVF medication timetable where I can cross off what's been taken when as I already forget what day I'm on with such a stressful job 😆

OP posts:
Bells3032 · 06/11/2020 16:44

yeah we were told motility is more important than morphology. We have 1% on very little but motility is 60% so said we have a good chance.

LJM83 · 06/11/2020 20:52

@Bells3032 @Kiza I remember thinking the same about the medication, I found it a bit overwhelming to start with but it soon made sense when I started and was absolutely fine x
