Hi,
After 2 years TTC #1 we are now eventually on the IVF bus! Should have started in June but Covid put a stop to that and after lots of back/forth with our NHS clinic we've got our treatment planning appointment on Friday and will be on the long protocol so probably starting mid- end of December!
Would love to have some ladies join me!
I've been creeping on other IVF threads but haven't been able to fully take part.

@Freya2015 ohh that's interesting! It's strange to see how different things are done!
We have had all our consent forms posted out to us and have to sign them when on the video call in front of the doctor.

Do they usually do a trial embryo transfer? I haven't heard much of that? That's nice and quick though for getting appointment through for that!
I need something to distract myself for the next two weeks until my appointment so I can get more answers for myself haha

Freya2015 · 10/11/2020 13:40

@willithappen yh i am glad it isnt taking time. The trail they said is to make sure everything is fine on the actual day of the transfer. A bit scared of all this.

And what will happen at your next appt?

Bells3032 · 10/11/2020 14:45

Hello. I am back from my nurse appointment. she went through all the meds with me and hopefully we can go ahead with a round before christmas as long as my period arrived before December 1st (mine are a bit all over the place atm so fingers crossed).

If not it'll be january. I'll be on short protocol, no down regulation. hopefully.

Freya2015 · 10/11/2020 15:16

@Bells3032 congratulations your 2 weeks ahead of me. Both on short protocol. Good luck

they will induce my periods and then I can start my cycle.

Will your clinic be closing over christmas holidays?

Bells3032 · 10/11/2020 15:33

@Freya2015 my clinic is open but the lab is closed between 19th december and 4th january so we are debating leaving it til January. I'd need my period by Dec 1st releastically and it's so erratic atm. We are moving on January 7th so we wanted to avoid that but if we want til January then we will only be on one injection a day when we move but if we do december i would of either just found it didn't work or be on like 4 injections a day (inc the awful PIO ones). So as desperate as i am it seems to make more sense.

But we said we will see when my period comes. if it's early we may just go ahead.

Freya2015 · 10/11/2020 15:37

@Bells3032 are you on NHS.

I have my Appt on 24th November and they said they will prescribe me Provera to induce my periods and start. I am hoping mine is in December so all bad news can stay in 2020. But I don't want to be too hopeful as it will break my heart I know.

Also will the nurse order your meds to your house and how long will that take?

I hope you have a nice and relaxing move

Bells3032 · 10/11/2020 15:41

No we are going straight to private.

yes they will order them to our house and we can have them arrive whenever we want.

Haha i want one too. we wanted to move in november but our sellers seller added a house to the top of the chain the day we were meant to exchange and refused to move before january.

Dubaigirl211 · 10/11/2020 15:56

IA I will be having egg collection at the end of the month and a frozen embryo transfer in January all things going well.. it's my first cycle too!

Kiza · 10/11/2020 16:10

Welcome to the new ladies joining us, it's great there's more of us to share our journeys with abs seems like for most of us this is our first time!
@willithappen @Freya2015 I think I'm private clinics mock embryo transfers are more common. In the nhs you have to request it, I requested it as I have a very tilted uterus and most clinicians struggle to access my cervix. They are doing my mock transfer when they do EC.

Freya2015 · 10/11/2020 16:18

@kiza
Hi I didnt even request it and the doctor just asked me to have it I am really scared now

whats happening with your treatment ?

Kiza · 10/11/2020 17:58

@Freya2015 don't be scared! I've been lurking on a few IVF posts for the last few months and it seems quite common in private practise. All the ladies have said it's been fine and it's the same procedure for Embryo Transfer (obvs) and is just a speculum and then the catheter goi by through the cervix so if you've had a HSG or hycosy it's the same as the beginning part of that.

We are waiting for our consent forms to arrive in the post, then we will drop them back off to the clinic in person when we go for our STI blood screening (hopefully early next week). Then just waiting for my next bleed which should be end of the month

@Kiza yh i hope all goes well i am excited for my cycle and i really hope its this month

Beaglemum91 · 10/11/2020 20:22

Hi, hoping I can join you all!
We have always know DH may have an issue and have now had it confirmed (2m/ml, 2% morphology and 15% motility) so we've been told we would need IVF +ICSI to conceive. I've not been checked out yet but we believe I'm all good as I have regular periods and ovulation, thought I'm still worried just in case there'ssomething hiding! We have our initial scan on the 20th to check everythings good with me to move forward and our nurse consultation on the 24th. We may be able to start in Dec, but think we may wait until new year (literally due AF on NYD!) to avoid the festive season and potential closures. We are going private as my husband is American and wouldn't be eligible for fertility treatment on the NHS. We have chosen a clinic that only does short protocol as I'd prefer the milder approach based on our issue being MFI. I'm excited, but also so nervous about everything, especially as I hate needles! So happy there are people here going through the same thing at the same time, makes me feel so much better!

Freya2015 · 10/11/2020 21:05

@Beaglemum91 welcome to the group. I know its all so overwhelming but we will get there.

I have my appt on the 24th too with the nurse and on Thursday i have my trial embryo transfer along with a baseline scan

Freya2015 · 12/11/2020 17:02

Hi ladies

I had my trail embryo transfer today and it went okay she said everything is perfect
I was a bit anxious and that made me feel like i am in pain so it took her three attempts

Beaglemum91 · 12/11/2020 21:00

@Freya2015, what appointment did they do that at? Did you have to request it? I think I'd feel happier having one if I can.

Freya2015 · 12/11/2020 21:35

@Beaglemum91 it was a base line scan and they asked me to get a trial embryo transfer.I would highly highly recommend it. As it will help the doctor identify any Problems. I am on NHS what are you going with?

Kiza · 12/11/2020 22:00

@Freya2015 glad it went well in the end and despite the anxiety at least now you know what ET will be like.
Welcome @Beaglemum91 I know what you mean about needles... no idea how we are going to manage it as neither of us like needles 😄

OP posts:
Freya2015 · 13/11/2020 06:59

@Kiza yup i need to prepare myself because I practically have no pain tolerance

onlyhereforthefood · 13/11/2020 07:43

We're doing PGD/PGS due to a OH having a genetic mutation that we don't want to pass down. We've done all of our planning appointments and we're just waiting on a genetic probe to be ready then we can start. Possibly starting Dec, but more likely Jan (would be better for us in many ways), short cycle protocol with ICSI.

So nervous. It's all happened very quickly, we only started talking to the clinic around September!

Freya2015 · 13/11/2020 10:46

@onlyhereforthefood good luck and I hope and pray its good news for you.

LJM83 · 14/11/2020 09:27

For those feeling anxious about the injections - please don't!

I felt exactly the same before I stated but it really isn't as bad as I thought - two rounds in and I barely think about it whilst injecting now.

The vast majority of the time it is completely painless for me - I don't feel a thing. If I do start to feel a little bit of pain it is just as I start to push the needle in so I just stop and find another place to try.

You'll all be fine 😘 x

Beaglemum91 · 14/11/2020 16:14

@Freya2015 I might ask if they do that where I'm going! We're private, we knew my DH might have an issue and got it confirmed but we'd still have to wait a while on the NHS and may not even be eligible then as DH is American on a spouse visa so fertility treatment isn't covered by the NHS. We may be mad just going straight to private but we feel we've waited so long to even be together and get visa sorted and be in the same country that we really just want to get going!

@Kiza I've told DH he can do the injections as I'm better when I dont look and can't see whats going on!

Kiza · 16/11/2020 16:54

Just dropped off our consent forms and ID, next step is phoning on the first day of my next bleed--- eeek exciting. Although the 2 hour round trip to the hospital going to be hard with all the scans and work 😬

@Beaglemum91 that's what I'm hoping but he's so heavy handed, his impression of injecting me was something out of a horror movie! 😧
@LJM83 im hoping so, I bruise like a peach so will ask if I can have a few in my leg. Is this another fresh round for you or FET?

OP posts:
LJM83 · 16/11/2020 17:20

@Kiza oh yes, I had a fair few nasty looking bruises but that just encouraged sympathy from my husband 😂
I actually had an appointment today (remotely) and it has been decided that I'll have a natural FET next - so no medication required in advance, this is an option for me because my cycles are fairly regular. The date will depend on when my period starts, but I'm def not going before Christmas due to the isolation requirements on the Island I live. I think it'll prob be late Feb now x
