Hi,
After 2 years TTC #1 we are now eventually on the IVF bus! Should have started in June but Covid put a stop to that and after lots of back/forth with our NHS clinic we've got our treatment planning appointment on Friday and will be on the long protocol so probably starting mid- end of December!
Would love to have some ladies join me!
I've been creeping on other IVF threads but haven't been able to fully take part.

Hi
I have my treatment planning appt with consultant on Monday 9th November ours is due my husbands low count and motility then the receptionist said we would be booked in for a nurses appt so hopefully starting in December

Kiza · 07/11/2020 15:26

@Freya2015 hi and welcome to the group, there's a handful of us so far but I imagine more will join. I assuming this is your first IVF? Do you know if you're having ICSI due to your husbands semen analysis? Are you also nhs?

@Kiza i just read yes wow

We have all consent forms they were emailed so printed them off all we need is the nurses appt to be quick

Freya2015 · 07/11/2020 19:31

@Kiza is that your appt with the consultant or the nurse ?

Kiza · 07/11/2020 19:52

@Freya2015 with the nurse, we've been under a consultant at another nhs hospital (closer to where we live) for a year where we had l our tests abs exams and she referred us to the nhs IVF clinic in the main city of our area.

@kizw that’s great news and did she go through which medication to take and ordered it?

This is what my nhs clinic told me they said i will have my appointment with the consultant on Monday who will tell me which protocol and treatment etc then i will be booked in with the nurse who will order the meds and go through paper work and explain how to take and when to come for scans etc

I am not sure if your at that nurses stage

Good luck 😍

Bells3032 · 07/11/2020 21:04

@Freya2015 I have an appointment with the nurse on Tues to go over the details. Was surprised its a nurse that does all the meds and not a doctor. I haven't been told what protocol I'm on or anything...

Freya2015 · 07/11/2020 21:12

@Bells3032 really did you have an appt with the doctor when your eligibility came through?

Bells3032 · 07/11/2020 21:17

We aren't going ivf but already had two appts with a doctor

Kiza · 08/11/2020 10:23

@Freya2015 yeah she went through all the meds and scans but I was a bit overwhelmed 😆, she hasn't ordered the meds as she said I phone on my next cd1, then I go in on cd21 of that cycle to be taught how to inject and collect my prescription for the meds.... I think that's what she said?! If not when I phone on CD1 I'll ask again... 🤦🏼‍♀️ it's so much information to take in! Our consent forms are being posted to us (she went through them over the phone) and we have to drop them back off when we go in for the STI testing.

@Bells3032 our appointments with the nhs IVF clinic have all been with nurses, I think that's because we were under a consultant at another hospital so a doctor has already done all the tests and agreed to ivf abs funding has been approved. I think all clinics do it slightly differently.

@Kiza i am so worried about mine as I have very irregular periods like 3/4 a year I hope I can start straight away. i have so many questions to ask i have written them all down and let a post note on my computer at work to remind me of my appt

I am excited but also scared i dont want to tell anyone about this and how everything is going on i want to suprise everyone
I am glad i found you all to let my heart out

winnie3838 · 08/11/2020 10:33

Hi everyone,
Due to start down regulating next Friday on what is my try at IVF (long protocol). I have recently turned 38 and i was diagnosed with and had removed moderate endometriosis last year. Following that i had an amh test done privately that came back as 5.5 (pmol) - bottom 5% for my age. There is no history of fertility issues in my family or early menopause so they think the low amh is caused by the endo. I had a AFC in August and that showed 5 follicles in total. My partners sperm result was fine, normal but low end for sperm count, very good motility, though 2% morphology. I believe they are planning to only do ICSI if necessary on the day. Pleased to be connecting with you all on this journey. x

Kiza · 08/11/2020 11:05

@Freya2015 it's completely understandable, I've been on Mumsnet for 2 years during our TTC Journey and it's been a lifesaver to help with all the craziness. This is a safe space to share all you need and for our irrational worries to be shared 🥰
Keep us posted on your appointment tomorrow.

@winnie3838 welcome to the low AMH club, I'm 40 and mine was 5.9 in June, also having ICSI due to DP 1% morphology. How you feeling about down reg? Have you told work or are able to manage without informing them?

OP posts:
winnie3838 · 08/11/2020 11:16

@Kiza I'm nervous about the down reg as our nurse told us that altho most people fear the needles (stim phase) most, they normally find that it is the way the down reg drugs make you feel that is the hardest - I am going to be taking a nasal medication in the down reg phase. She said to expect mood swings, headaches, hot flushes and tears etc.. eeek!

I work from home so i am not sure yet whether i will tell me manager or not, altho i have let our HR lady know and she was lovely about it. I have kept two days leave free so i can book off the egg collection and embryo transfer, if we get there!

How about you?

Bells3032 · 08/11/2020 11:34

@Freya2015 yeah also worried about not being able to start due to my periods being all over the place from my coil. I should of taken it out earlier but couldn't cos of Covid :(

@winnie3838 welcome. What is down regulation? I also have a low AMH (first test at 5.8 and second ay 6.5 and I am only 32!) but doctor said it is still high enough so not to worry too much.

I've told my manager and HR what is happening just cos emotionally and mentally i am worried about not being all there. Thanks to CV though i have a tonne of leave to use up

Freya2015 · 08/11/2020 11:43

@Bells3032 i know its so annoying and stressful but hopefully i can start next month i hope we get a nurses appt this month

I had a tarot card reading for February

winnie3838 · 08/11/2020 11:49

@Bells3032 Sorry, down regulation is the first part of long protocol IVF. For the first approx 3 weeks you take a drug which shuts down your natural cycle - like an induced state of menopause, hence the nasty side effects! Once everything is 'quiet', then they start the stimulation phase (the injections). I saw that you had a AFC count of 9, so that is promising and also you are in your early 30s so hopefully you still have lots of top quality eggs :) The AMH test is so confusing isn't it, it is supposedly impossible for it to go up, yet i have seen many ladies on here have a higher result on a another test. I dare not have mine tested again (i had my test done in June) for fear that it will be lower, it broke my heart when i got that result and to be told i was in the bottom 5% for my age.

Bells3032 · 08/11/2020 11:53

@winnie3838 ah thanks. May have to do that but not allowed nasal sprays due to an ear condition so will have to wait and see! I expected mine to go up as first test had a merina coil so it made my ovaries sleepy.

@Freya2015 Fingers crossed we can have a round before the end of the year too! I had a psychic tell me in January I would be pregnant by June. I was like given my husband's sperm count I don't think so.

Freya2015 · 08/11/2020 12:02

@Bells3032 so do I
Really hoping 2020 is the year i am 24 and my husband is 27 but we dont want to delay it if we know our only option is ivf

I cant wait for tomorrows appt

Bells3032 · 08/11/2020 12:04

@Freya2015 wow that is young. I keep being told by clinics how young I am. What's the reason behind you having to have ivf.

Kiza · 08/11/2020 12:13

@winnie3838 I hear you with the side effects, I'm going to try and keep exercising during down reg to try and combat some of it.
That's lucky that you can work from home and I'm assuming some flexi working with all the scan appointments?
I work in CAMHS so it's definitely going to impact work as all my patients are booked in my diary 2 weeks in advance. I'm just going to have to tell my patients I'm going for medical treatment and to expect their appointments to be cancelled/rescheduled at the last minute. My boss is quite understanding, however I've got some risky patients that need to be seen face to face rather than video sessions so not sure how I will manage that when it comes to shielding in the run up to EC.

Freya2015 · 08/11/2020 12:24

@Bells3032
When i went for my hycosy she wrote down letrozole for me to take then bought up my husbands SA up and said its extremely low so she said our only option is IVF she said no supplements would work l. but we both are still taking

Me - infolical alpha and pregnacare

Him - fertility smart conceiving supplements

willithappen · 08/11/2020 16:31

I'm super nervous/anxious about my appointment coming up this month and what protocol we'll be on.

I have an AFC of 34 so you think that will put me on a long protocol?
