Hi,
After 2 years TTC #1 we are now eventually on the IVF bus! Should have started in June but Covid put a stop to that and after lots of back/forth with our NHS clinic we've got our treatment planning appointment on Friday and will be on the long protocol so probably starting mid- end of December!
Would love to have some ladies join me!
I've been creeping on other IVF threads but haven't been able to fully take part.

@willithappen dont worry too much i know its said than done. I have mine tomorrow and I feel like today is just dragging on and on and on

willithappen · 08/11/2020 18:06

Oh gosh, are you feeling nervous or excited @Freya2015
What time are you at tomorrow? I will be sure to check back in with you!

Freya2015 · 08/11/2020 18:21

@willithappen its at 11;15 and a phone call one
I am really excited to find out when we can start but extremely nervous and scared about all of this dont know who i can talk to about my feelings

willithappen · 08/11/2020 18:28

@Freya2015 I know I'm just a random stranger on the internet but I'm more than happy to talk with you about it. I'll be 2.5 weeks behind you

Freya2015 · 08/11/2020 18:38

@willithappen thank you so much
Its so hard if the other person isnt going through it
So its your doctors appt in 2 weeks and you’ll discuss your treatment plan then its nurses appt?

Kiza · 08/11/2020 18:58

@Freya2015 @willithappen quite often your clinic offers counselling before, during and after. Either as a couple or alone, just in case. I've told my sister and bless her she's tried reading up on it to try to understand but she loves quite far away. Do your partners have much understanding of the process? If not it's always a good idea to ask them to read up so you have a shared understanding as it's a journey we take together

I've been going through counselling during this time, had one just last week :) I usually get one once a month or a bit more. I was really struggling with the unknown regarding the wait time and it helped me a lot!

My appointment on 26th says it's to discuss treatment plan and then that an appointment with nurse will be made for me shortly after that

Freya2015 · 08/11/2020 19:30

Ohh okay @willithappen your only a couple of weeks behind me i will definitely keep you posted on what happens tomorrow. I just scrolled down insta and saw baby stuff i screenshotted it 😢 I cant wait to be pregnant and enjoy it with my husband. I’ll defo advise you to write all your questions down and your partners so everything is clear

MrsMeow2019 · 08/11/2020 20:17

@Kiza @Bells3032 can I join please :-). Similar boat , I’m 35. will be our first cycle hopefully starting just after Christmas.

I’m in the low AMH group too with 5.1 - was quite a shock to me but I’d always joked about having furry ovaries so maybe I knew on some level 😆. Last AFC was 9 in total so keep fingers crossed for a few good ones at retrieval . DH has severe OATs and we’ve only been given 15% chance of success :(.

Wishing everyone good luck with their cycles ans let’s hope 2021 is our year 🤞 xx

Bells3032 · 08/11/2020 20:26

@MrsMeow2019 welcome. Of course you can join.

What is oats?

MrsMeow2019 · 08/11/2020 20:47

@Bells3032 Thank you :), not that this is a club any of us wanted to be in but it’s nice to know other people are going through the same / similar thing.

OATs is oligoasthenoteratozoospermia. Basically he has a very low count, ans most of them are lazy/ funny shapes. All tests have come back normal so we have no idea why.

Is anyone else finding this difficult leading up to Xmas ? We could have started this month but I’d like 2020 behind me and leave potential further bad news for 2021!

Bells3032 · 08/11/2020 20:54

@MrsMeow2019 ah my dh too but we know the cause of his and we are grateful he has anything to give us a chance (childhood cancer)

I'm just working out timelines and I don't think this year will be possible as I'd be heading for retrieval on christmas day.

So upset just want to get on with it. But maybe a summer baby isn't such a great idea

Freya2015 · 09/11/2020 11:48

A update

So I had my phone call consultation with the doctor.
I will be on the short protocol (2-3 weeks)

They will induce my period then I take injections and go for scans, she did recommend I self isolate because of risk of COVID.

I will get a call today to book my nurses appt and then they will give me a written Plan of everything. she also said my AMH blood results were very good.

CANT WAITTTTTT

willithappen · 09/11/2020 12:17

@Freya2015 great news lovely!

Did they say when you start the medication?

Bells3032 · 09/11/2020 12:25

@Freya2015 that's so exciting. Hope my appt tomorrow is equally good. Do you know roughly when to expect Egg retrival?

Freya2015 · 09/11/2020 12:35

@willithappen she said maybe Jan because labs are closed in the last two weeks of December.

@Bells3032 she hasn't said waiting for the nurse to call me today and book the appt with me and then the nurse will give me a plan.

I am defo going to self isolate I don't want to risk this and say later on what if I did this and that. She is really happy with our supplements so didn't ask us to change anything. she said I will be having scans every 2/3 days

willithappen · 09/11/2020 12:37

Ah so still not a firm date, assume you will have to let them know your period timings from then?

Still, progress is progress! I'm excited for my appointment now!

Freya2015 · 09/11/2020 12:41

@Bells3032 do keep us update about your appt I will defo check up on you. Write everything down that you want to ask.

Freya2015 · 09/11/2020 14:48

@willithappen yh because I have irregular periods they will prescribe me a pill to induce my periods and then from there it will be 2-3 weeks with the injections and other appt.

All I am a bit worried about is being on my periods and having a vaginal scan (awkward)

HJF84 · 09/11/2020 19:15

Hi all - I'll be starting a new IVF cycle in the new year. This will be my fifth attempt - so keeping my fingers crossed. My last attempt was June this year. We've switched to a new clinic, who assessed our situation, ran a series of tests and we have some new things to try.

A bit of background, I have a low AMH. It was tested as 2.1 in 2018, but was recently tested as 5 at my new clinic, which I was over the moon about. My AFC is also 9 (snap @MrsMeow2019!) I am also heterozygous for MTHFR, which can cause clots, so I'm always on blood thinners.

We've recently discovered that my husband has high DNA fragmentation, but luckily for us, that can be rectified, so as of today, he's on a high anti oxidant diet with no booze or processed foods - he's obviously delighted 😁

Anyway, I've basically had every test under the sun and hoping for a miracle. We have to wait a couple of months to lower DH's fragmentation, and then we can get started

Freya2015 · 10/11/2020 10:49

Freya2015 · 10/11/2020 11:46

@Bells3032 good luck do you get your medication?

Bells3032 · 10/11/2020 11:49

i don't know. think we order them today.

beachbum85 · 10/11/2020 13:26

Hi everyone,
Can I join too? We just got an appointment for mid-Dec and our electronic consent forms... I'm not sure of the process at all as it will be our first IVF, but I'm hoping we can start soon after.
I'm also in the low AMH group with 5.8 and I'm 35, and like a few of you I have an AFC of 9.
Feeling excited but also quite lost so far!
