@UncleBrynsfishingtrip I’m having my transfer either tomorrow or Tuesday (hoping for Tuesday) is Monday day 3 or 5 for you?

@JandL2020 you are going to be day 5 aren’t you? If I have been keeping up correctly

HavingFaith · 12/09/2020 18:11

Thanks @Lemongrass1 for setting up the new thread! ☺️

HavingFaith · 12/09/2020 18:16

@JenniferRo28 saw your message in the previous chat - glad your scan went well! Really exciting to hear you’re close to EC now x

HavingFaith · 12/09/2020 18:18

@UncleBrynsfishingtrip I just had my transfer yesterday so we’re just a couple days apart! Hope all goes well on Monday x

Rumtopf · 12/09/2020 18:22

Marking place so I don't lose you all.

What's the difference between doing a day 3 or 5 transfer? I forgot to ask and last time was a freeze all due to Covid so was irrelevant.

JandL2020 · 12/09/2020 18:23

@JandL2020 yes day 5. X

JandL2020 · 12/09/2020 18:24
@JandL2020 yes day 5. X
@Alexm06 tagged myself! Yes day 5 - fingers crossed for Tuesday transfer xx

Alexm06 · 12/09/2020 18:32

@Rumtopf I believe that a day 5 embryo should be a blastocyst which I think has a tiny bit higher percentage of implanting. I did find this out on goggle so I wouldn’t take my word for it. My clinic hasn’t said much to me about it just said it would be either day 3 (if they think it needs to go back in) or 5.

LKSF · 12/09/2020 18:34

@Lemongrass1 Thanks for setting up the thread 🙏🏼

@UncleBrynsfishingtrip Ha great username, made me laugh 😂

ivfjourney5 · 12/09/2020 19:01

I'll stay on here in the background and hopefully see lots of good news from everyone over the coming weeks!
I'll also update after my appointment on Monday, I'm feeling so nauseous after stopped all meds on Thursday

UncleBrynsfishingtrip · 12/09/2020 19:06

Mine is a Day 5 blastocyst. I did my first attempt in July and wasn’t it wasn’t successful and this will be our last attempt so 🤞 🤞
Good luck And calm thoughts to all of you in the TWW. Also thinking of fellow ‘ET’ers this week 💗💗

Rumtopf · 12/09/2020 19:32

@Alexm06 thanks, we lost a couple at day 3 last time so I'm curious now we have the option not to freeze all of them what will happen. I'll ask when I'm in on Monday.

@ivfjourney5 I find ginger and lemon tea helpful for nausea. Hope it clears soon.

@UncleBrynsfishingtrip good luck for Monday!

Lemongrass1 · 12/09/2020 20:06

@Rumtopf day 3 and day 5 refers to the age and developmental stage of the embryos. Lots of clinics will go for day 2/3 transfers if you don’t have many embryos so you are more likely to have something to transfer. Once the embryos make it to day 5 they are usually a blastocyst and it is easier to grade them to try pick the best of the bunch for transfer. The blastocyst grading system is a very rough system though and isn’t the be all and end all. Some low grade blasts work out and higher grades don’t. But your chances are higher for a pregnancy with a higher grade day 5 blast. Hope that makes sense! X

I think with a five day blast it gives you more chance to choose the most promising looking one. There seems to be a drop off between day 3 and 5. You need a few good ones to chose from though. I only had one egg so no work for the embryologist at all to chose from, so they stuck it back in on day 2! Better in that out, apparently. It'll be a miracle if it takes.

Thanks for the new thread @Lemongrass1.

Good luck those with upcoming transfers.

My cousin just announced her second pregnancy. I should feel happy for them but I actually just feel depressed for me.
