Abc IVF

Has anyone recently had IVF with abc IVF? They have approved me for a frozen cycle only at the moment.
Do you know if they are only doing frozen cycles in light of the pandemic.
We have mainly chosen them due to low cost. I appreciate that the low cost means cut backs in certain areas, but I'm often waiting for 1-1.5 hours on the phone to speak to a central phone line for all branches.
It's tricky as I know that IVF is really down to the individuals body response, but I still feel that decisions made by doctors about medication doses etc are important.
Keen to hear about others experiences.

@Poppies2020 Good luck!! I'm due to start my injections in a couple of days with ABC and it's so nerve wracking!

Poppies2020 · 13/10/2020 21:31

@SoNewToThis Thanks!
Is this your first IVF attempt? x

SoNewToThis · 13/10/2020 21:38

Yes it is, I hadn't realised this website existed but it's been really reassuring to hear about other people going through this too :) x

Poppies2020 · 13/10/2020 21:42

@SoNewToThis I was the same in back in July when I did my first cycle, it was so nice to speak to people in the sam situation. I just started my injections again on sat and you honestly do not need to worry, it becomes really natural to do it after the first couple of times x

SoNewToThis · 13/10/2020 21:47

@Poppies2020 It's good to know that the injections aren't too bad, I am definitely a worrier and it has been going round in my head that I might mess them up and get them wrong! I really hope that this works for you, I'm keeping my fingers crossed! x

Poppies2020 · 13/10/2020 21:49

@SoNewToThis it will be fine. They are easy to prepare and I found the main thing is to put an ice pack on my leg for 5 mins before, and then I don’t feel a thing. The hardest thing for me has been giving up coffee and wine! Smile

SoNewToThis · 13/10/2020 21:52

@Poppies2020 Ooh thank you, that's a really good tip and I'll definitely try that to see if it makes it easier, I'm not a fan of needles! I'm quite lucky really, I don't drink coffee or wine, but I definitely need to cut down on my chocolate! Smile x

Poppies2020 · 13/10/2020 21:58

@SoNewToThis my husband was not a fan of needles, now he’s an expert on prepping them and getting them ready for me! Smile When do you start? x

SoNewToThis · 13/10/2020 22:05

@Poppies2020 I'm really glad he's able to help you, I've been watching the videos to try to prepare for it! Smile I'm due to start my injections on Thursday or Friday, I'm hoping Thursday because I don't want to wait!! x

Poppies2020 · 14/10/2020 06:49

@SoNewToThis Honestly you will be fine. It will only take 5 mins to do once you get the hang of it. Let me know on Thursday/Friday how you get on, if you have any questions at all, feel free to ask! Good Luck! x

SoNewToThis · 14/10/2020 07:33

@Poppies2020 Thank you! And keep me updated with your treatment, good luck! x

Poppies2020 · 17/10/2020 17:10

@SoNewToThis Have you started your injections yet? How did you get on? x

SoNewToThis · 17/10/2020 18:36

@Poppies2020 My cycle started a little late, so I've just done the first Bemfola injection. I was so worried about actually inserting the needle, but after the initial sting it was fine, I'm so relieved!

How are you getting on? x

Poppies2020 · 17/10/2020 18:44

@SoNewToThis That’s great, glad it wasn’t as bad as you thought. I started my second injection on Friday, so have my next scan Mon to see how it’s all going x

MochaTea · 21/10/2020 10:34

Hey ladies, just joining in as I too have started my first injections this week. I have my first scan this friday, really hoping it will all be ok.

SoNewToThis · 21/10/2020 12:37

@MochaTea Good luck! I've had my first scan today, it's so exciting!!

@Poppies2020 How did the scan go? Are you ready for egg collection yet? Smile x

JadeS174 · 21/10/2020 13:01

@SoNewToThis how was your scan? Xx

SoNewToThis · 21/10/2020 13:35

@JadeS174 It went well I think, I had more blood tests and they reckon I'll go onto the second injection on Friday! I feel a lot calmer now, I was worried that I would have a scan and nothing would have started happening but apparently I'm fine! Xx

Poppies2020 · 21/10/2020 14:08

@SoNewToThis How was the first scan? It’s exciting to get started isn’t it! I have my egg collection tomorrow morning so fingers crossed! x
@MochaTea how are you finding the injections? x

SoNewToThis · 21/10/2020 14:36

@Poppies2020 It went well, the nurses are so friendly and kind! I've got two more booked in and they're hoping to do an egg collection in a week. That must be so exciting, I hope it goes well! x

MochaTea · 21/10/2020 15:03

Hi @Poppies2020 wow, exciting, how many days were there from your first injection to egg collection? I will book a week off work and want to plan.

I just had one so far and the area is a bit funny, but all manageable. My husband will be giving me the shots but I'd probably be able to do it myself if I had to.

@SoNewToThis good to know everything is going to plan with you I guess we get anxious for so many reasons, just the start of it and hopefully many more anxieties as we get the bfp.

Poppies2020 · 21/10/2020 18:09

@MochaTea Do you ice the area? I ice the area for 5 mins and then don’t feel a thing. I took my first Bemfola on the 10th and the last one last night, so 11 days in total. But you may have slightly more or less depending on how quick the follicles grow. They will tell you at a scan when your collection day will be, usually 2-3 days later so you will have enough time to tell work. I worked normally when having the injections, but have booked off time from tomorrow (egg collection) until the end of next week. This gives me time to recover whether I have a 3 or 5 day transfer as I remember last time I was a bit sore and crampy x

Poppies2020 · 21/10/2020 18:13

@SoNewToThis The nurses are fab aren’t they! So friendly. The time will fly by, I feel like I only started yesterday! Smile x

Poppies2020 · 23/10/2020 13:24

@SoNewToThis@MochaTea How are you ladies getting on? I had my egg collection yesterday and managed to get 4 eggs. They called this morning and only one has fertilised, so I have my transfer booked in for Sunday x

MochaTea · 23/10/2020 14:23

@Poppies2020 oh yay, exciting times!
Did you feel much during the collection? How are you feeling?
Will this be your second cycle?

I had to inject myself yesterday and it was easier and better than when my husband did so I am thinking I'll start doing it myself. Smile
I had my first scan and quite a lot of eggs showing but I know that by Monday, when it will be my next scan, there will be a lot less, so just waiting till then now.
Will start second injection on Sunday. x
