Has anyone recently had IVF with abc IVF? They have approved me for a frozen cycle only at the moment.
Do you know if they are only doing frozen cycles in light of the pandemic.
We have mainly chosen them due to low cost. I appreciate that the low cost means cut backs in certain areas, but I'm often waiting for 1-1.5 hours on the phone to speak to a central phone line for all branches.
It's tricky as I know that IVF is really down to the individuals body response, but I still feel that decisions made by doctors about medication doses etc are important.
Keen to hear about others experiences.

@Beaglemum91 thank you for your reply. Yes you're right it just depends on a variety of factors which we can't necessarily control. I spoke to a nurse just now too and they said the other 2 that are 10mm could potentially catch up till egg collection and you really only need 1 good quality. Fingers crossed 🤞

Beaglemum91 · 19/03/2021 13:42

@Ivfmarch2021 exactly! Stay positive! When I went for ec they thought they might get 5 and ended up getting 8. The trigger helps to give any lingering behind a nice push too so stay positive!

Ivfmarch2021 · 19/03/2021 13:45

@Beaglemum91 thank you! Yes I will do. I can only understand now how stressful this journey is. We can only imagine until we go through it. I'm keeping positive that all will work out in the end! Xx

Is anyone else having treatment at the Harley Street clinic? I had seen other people on here saying that they were not weighed and the clinic just accepted their bmi. I was weighed twice and my height measured twice. The lady was so lovely but wouldn't tell me what she was calculating my bmi to be. I was surprised because if checked it at home for about a month and started at less than 30 (about 29) so I lost about half a stone and yet when I went in the bmi calculator she used was saying I was over 30. My polycystic ovaries was confirmed, endometriosis is still being investigated but looks less likely after my initial scan. What will be discussed in our follow up zoom call?

indigocloud · 19/03/2021 22:03

@Becky105 Harley Street didn't weigh me and took my word for it, but not sure if mine was an unusual case as the staff who had seen me that day had called me after I'd left the clinic to ask for my height and weight and apologised for not remembering to do that during our session itself. Not sure if she had planned to weigh me or just take those details down. Either way, I didn't get weighed.

Becky105 · 19/03/2021 22:43

@indigocloud sounds like you got what is have preferred lol on the scales, off the scales, did I wanna go try for another wee then weigh me again... Then she wins the scales down to below 0 before I got on then resting the height thing a tad above my head... I came out and my partner was all positive Pete and I was like... You get the train home I'll walk the 6 hours I'm a whale apparently lol. It was a funny thing to process because the woman was SOOOOOOOOO lovely, literally the nicest ever but at the end of the day called me overweight and I felt like she had blagged me onto meeting their criteria and advised me to lose weight as I left.

Hi all

New to this forum. I am with abc manchester.

I had egg collection yesterday with 17 collected.

Had a call today to say none fertilised and there is just one which is faint but chances are slim but will let me know tomorrow how that gets on. So I am now depending on 1 not so good egg.

Feeling very unlucky and disappointed. It's been one heck of process Sad

Ivfmarch2021 · 20/03/2021 10:43

Hi @Nora8 try not to worry too much lovely! I can only imagine how you are feeling right now. All is not lost you still have hope for one.

Have they said anything else to you as to what could possibly be the reason for this? What the plan of action can be going forward?

Nora8 · 20/03/2021 11:02

Hi @Ivfmarch2021

Aww thank you for the support, it does really help xx

They didnt really say much apart from that they were sorry to share the bad news. To be honest, I was too sad to even ask any questions.

Once I hear from them tomorrow, I will probably go into further details.

This was our third cycle.

Cycle 1: only made it to day 4 as I had a cyst and had to cancel

Cycle 2: I ovulated between day 8-10 so on day 10 scan they said another cancelled cycle (not sure why they didnt give me cetrotide earlier as they were monitoring me and should have realised)

Cycle 3: stimmed till day 9 with hcg shot on day 10.

It's so mentally and physically draining. Also as they retrieved 17 eggs, they said my body is in a lot of trauma, so I would have to do a FET. I'm now taking cetrotide, antibiotics and clexane for recovery.

Ivfmarch2021 · 20/03/2021 11:09

@Nora8 bless you you're a strong lady!

Just hang in there!

Sometimes it's just the way things turn out and nobody can really control it.

Maybe it gives them chance now to see the outcome from the cycles you've had for next time?

I think you should try rest as much as possible and let yourself recover. All is not lost!
Give yourself a bit of time xx

Hi everyone I have finally booked my initial consultation this may :) ..at Wimbledon can someone please tell me I have just recieved a confirmation email an says for my ultrasound, are me and my partner not having the blood tests the same time, the one my partner needs to have also? Or is this separate and do you think it would be possible to book his SA for the same day? Sorry new to it all I will obviously get all the results etc I can off my doctors (if they will give them to me) also thank for any advice.

Preston12 · 20/03/2021 22:03

Hi does any one no if they do transfer on a Sunday does anyone no as mine seems to fall on that day ? X thank you

Whitney93 · 21/03/2021 22:29

@Nora8 I cannot even imagine how you are feeling 💔😢 I’m so sorry you’re having to go through this. It’s so so unfair. Just try to hold out hope for that 1 egg they have. It really does only take 1. But that doesn’t make you feel any better right now. sending lots of love and positive vibes your way x

@Herehoping93 ah that’s amazing you have your initial consultation booked 👏🏽 We are with abc Wimbledon as well. So I went to my initial consultation not having a clue what they would say and I needed to have a TSH and Rubella blood test (which I got through my GP on the NHS) and my partner needed to have a SA (which again I have booked through my GP and he has next month) I wish they had told me this before my consultation as it’s taken weeks for an appt for the SA unless we paid £150 through the clinic. It may be worth calling your GP and asking for these tests to be done due to you starting fertility treatment as you would then go in prepared to the consultation and could get started ASAP (if that’s what you’re wanting). The only other info they wanted from me was a copy of my latest smear as it is still valid with 6 months left. I know they may want different things from you but that was the tests I had to have prior and it’s saved up over £200 which is brilliant! We may be starting treatments around the same time! 🤞🏽x

Herehoping93 · 22/03/2021 14:24

Thank you @Whitney93 for that information :)
Will defo get my blood test booked at doctors did they not ask for your partner to have a blood test also. Mine is worrying haha.. I'm looking to start my cycle in August hopefully for children and work reasons good luck glad to know someone going to same clinic :)

Whitney93 · 22/03/2021 16:13

@Herehoping93 no they didn’t ask for my partner to have any bloods. Just the analysis done, but this is our second round and they know that it’s male factor that’s causing our infertility so that may be why he hasn’t had to have a blood test. Thinking about it I have a feeling before on our first round he did have to have some bloods done but they haven’t been requested this time round.

Xx

Herehoping93 · 22/03/2021 21:58

@whitney93 Ok thank you i may give them a ring to find out about his blood test then.. good luck on your cycle let me know how you get on with next appointment etc :)

Herehoping93 · 22/03/2021 21:59

@Preston12 I do remember reading a comment on here regarding someone having a appointment on a Sunday :) goodluck

KimChinn21 · 23/03/2021 10:28

Hi ladies I hope you dont mind me joining in the thread with you all. I'm with ABC manchester.

I'm currently waiting for the 31st so under a week to go for my blood tests & husband analysis! So then we can finally book our treatment cycle. The annoying thing is I'm due to start my cycle on the 1st so I'll have to wait another month to get started. With you ladies that have already started treatment how long is it between your treatment cycle and starting treatment?

@Nora8 I'm so sorry to hear about your recent cycle! Ivf is such a hard journey mentally and physically. To give you abit of hope when I did ivf in 2018 I had 21 eggs collected and also only had 1 remaining and had to do a FET wich amazingly worked and I currently have a 2year10 months little diva.. you need to let your body recover and then hoping this works for you!

Icsi2021 · 23/03/2021 12:39

@Beaglemum91 @StarryHannah any1 able to answer this for me? I have emailed and requested a call back, this mean we have enough? Xx

Whitney93 · 23/03/2021 13:08

Ladies will anyone be able to help me too.
I spoke to the clinic yesterday and they have said that I was discussed in their meeting to start Bemfola 150 as my stim meds. But in my first cycle I used Gonal F. Has anyone experienced either of these/both and can give me your feedback on them as I don’t know if it’s better for me to request Gonal F as I know that worked for me before (although I was on 225) or does Bemfola work just as good?
Thank you in advance xx

Beaglemum91 · 23/03/2021 13:19

Hi @Icsi2021 sorry I've not been getting mumsnet notifications for some reason! From what I can tell he had around 20-50 live sperm that they separated out (centrifuge is one technique the use I believe) and have frozen the good ones in a vial for use in your treatment. Check with them, but that's what I take from it.

@Preston12 I had my transfer on a Sunday so they do operate 7 days a week.

@Herehoping93 I believe they assess you and yhen let you know what additional tests they need. If your SA isn't within 3 months they will ask for a new one so you can get on with that if needed and book it with them I'm sure. With bloods. We only had our non communicable diseases which they only book in after your consultation and you've confirmed you want to go ahead with treatment. If they need other bloods I expect they will book them in at the same time as they don't do them at scan as 1. They will review your records to see what you actually need or need to redo. 2. At the scan and consultation they assess if you are eligible for treatment with them so they may not want to book bloods in until you all know you're eligible. If there are some you've not had done in a while you could ask the gp to redo them and send the results to he clinic. My husband only had the communicable diseases bloods with them and didn't need a repeat SA.

@KimChinn21 I'm with Manchester too, they're lovely. I also had my consultation just as my period was starting but it gave us time for the medication to arrive and to grt ourselves ready. As soon as you have the medication you can start on day 2 of your next cycle.

Hopeful1234567 · 23/03/2021 15:47

I am waiting for my period to show up to start medication. My first time going through IVF and no one really knows but I feel less alone with you all on this forum. Feeling nervous about it as we have unexplained infertility and my partner does already have a child with someone else.

Hopeful1234567 · 23/03/2021 15:55

Sent my message before I had finished! I am also with ABCManchester. Hope you don’t mind me joining this thread Smile

Hopeful1234567 · 23/03/2021 15:59

Hi @Nora8
I hope you don’t mind me replying but just wanted you to know I am so sorry to hear this and the experiences you have been through, you really are an incredibly strong person in every way.

Icsi2021 · 23/03/2021 16:10

@Hopeful1234567 good luck lovely, we may start treatment the same time. I have had the go ahead and meds are being delivered this week 🤞🏼 X
