Abc IVF

Has anyone recently had IVF with abc IVF? They have approved me for a frozen cycle only at the moment.
Do you know if they are only doing frozen cycles in light of the pandemic.
We have mainly chosen them due to low cost. I appreciate that the low cost means cut backs in certain areas, but I'm often waiting for 1-1.5 hours on the phone to speak to a central phone line for all branches.
It's tricky as I know that IVF is really down to the individuals body response, but I still feel that decisions made by doctors about medication doses etc are important.
Keen to hear about others experiences.

@MochaTea Yes this will be the second try, I had a positive on the first one but unfortunately it didn’t stick. The egg collection is fine, the most uncomfortable bit is the IV needle in the hand other than that I was out like a light! I’m glad your scans are going well, it’s exciting! Are you planning on doing the second injection in your tummy? x

SoNewToThis · 23/10/2020 16:14

@Poppies2020 I’ve had my second scan today, they think they may be ready for egg collection on Wednesday, they’ll know more on Monday. The worst thing has been trying to get blood from my arms, my veins keep collapsing! I really hope the transfer goes well for you! x

@MochaTea I hope everything goes well for you on Monday x

Poppies2020 · 23/10/2020 18:05

@SoNewToThis Oh no, that sounds painful. Are you at the Harley street clinic, so getting blood done around the corner at the London Doctors Clinic? x

JadeS174 · 23/10/2020 23:42

@Poppies2020 @SoNewToThis @MochaTea Wishing you all the luck in the world with your IVF journey.
Can I ask how long it took after your scan and initial consultation to actually start treatment? Xx

SoNewToThis · 24/10/2020 06:45

@Poppies2020 It isn't fun, but my veins have always been the same so at least I knew to expect it! I'm at the Bristol clinic Smile x

@JadeS174 Thank you! I had my initial scans and tests done in July, so for me 3~4 months. I specifically asked for a delayed start though, I needed time to make sure everything was in place and to make sure I could get the time off work. Depending on how straightforward your case is you may be able to start on your next cycle, it just depends really - I needed longer to sort a sperm donor out Smile xx

Poppies2020 · 24/10/2020 08:06

@JadeS174 Thank you! I was booked to have my Treatment consultation about 3 weeks after my initial tests and scan, however my treatment was postponed due to Covid. As soon as the clinic opened again they called me and booked me in asap. It coincided with my cycle so I had the Treatment Consultation on the Tuesday via zoom and started injections 2 days later. Have you started any treatment yet? x

JadeS174 · 24/10/2020 09:31

@SoNewToThis thanks for replying ☺️ X

@Poppies2020 No haven't started yet. I've got my scan on 5th Nov and Initial consultation via zoom on 24th Nov. I was wondering if all being well I'd be able to start in December but unsure whether clinic will be shut for some of Christmas so thinking I may have to wait until January. X

Poppies2020 · 24/10/2020 10:12

@JadeS174 I imagine it will also take into account when your cycle. You start the injection on the 2nd day of your period, so if that ties in with the end of November, very early Dec then you might be lucky and they might be able to start. It’s hard to wait isn’t it. I had my first attempt in July but had to wait until Oct to start again, as your body needs a bit of time to get back to normal. I was just eager to start asap! Smile x

MochaTea · 24/10/2020 14:45

@Poppies2020 I always have trouble with nurses trying to find my veins too, sometimes they need to use children's needles so it always goes two ways, they get it the first time or 20 tries later Confused

Yes I am doing bemfola on my legs and it's quite great so I might do one on each leg, haven't reviewed the videos yet for the second one.

@JadeS174 hey, so mine was a bit quicker, I had the zoom consultation on Sep, 11 and was due to start that same month but my period came early before I had the meds delivered to me, so I had to wait 2 more weeks than what I had previously planned.

JadeS174 · 24/10/2020 16:08

Thanks @MochaTea.

@Poppies2020 ah okay thank you, it might be a bit of a squeeze to do it before Xmas as AF due 6th Dec. X

Poppies2020 · 24/10/2020 16:17

@MochaTea I did my Bemfola in the leg and the other one in the tummy. I found the tummy much easier and completely painless, prob because there is more fat there! Smile

Poppies2020 · 24/10/2020 16:19

@JadeS174 Ahh it may be the new year then. But if you have all the scans and tests etc they will prob book you in straight away in Jan. I would take advantage over Xmas and eat and drink everything! Smile

JadeS174 · 24/10/2020 16:24

@Poppies2020 yes that's a bonus! I will make the most of it! Xx

Poppies2020 · 24/10/2020 16:29

@JadeS174 Are you at the London ABC? x

JadeS174 · 24/10/2020 16:31

@Poppies2020 Yes Harley Street ABC X

Poppies2020 · 24/10/2020 16:37

@JadeS174 Ahh me too. They are so lovely there aren’t they. When you do go for blood tests at the clinic around the corner, ask at the counter for Mohammed. He is amazing, he is so friendly and when he takes blood it honestly doesn’t hurt or leave any bruise/mark at all, and he just makes me feel so reassured. I have asked for him every time through both my cycles x

JadeS174 · 25/10/2020 22:02

@Poppies2020 thanks for that tip. I'll be sure to ask for him x

SoNewToThis · 26/10/2020 03:51

@Poppies2020 How was your embryo transfer? And how are you feeling? x

Poppies2020 · 26/10/2020 06:31

@SoNewToThis It was good thank you. I had a Grade 1 Embryo which is apparently the best (she said they grade them 1-5) so fingers crossed. It was kind of hilarious, as last time I didn’t drink enough water so had to drink more at the clinic, so this time I drank loads, and they were running half an hour behind! So after being there an hour I was desperate, so they made me use the bathroom to let a little out, but keep enough in to do the scan! Grin Maybe if I have to do jt again I will get it right! How are you getting on? x

SoNewToThis · 26/10/2020 09:03

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, I really hope you get a positive! Grin I'll remember the water tip for when I have my transfer! I've had my scan this morning and the follicles aren't quite there yet, so one more scan on Wednesday and they've penciled me in for an egg collection on Friday so fingers crossed the follicles keep growing! Smile x

Poppies2020 · 26/10/2020 10:20

@SoNewToThis Thank you! I’m sure they will grow more. I had one extra day of injections and that gave me a boost and I got an extra follicle and egg! Friday is a good day as you can spend the weekend resting. Have you booked any time off work next week? I will have my fingers crossed for you! x

MochaTea · 26/10/2020 19:56

Hey @Poppies2020 yay so happy for you, fingers crossed it all goes well on Sunday. I'll be thinking of you.
Just out of curiosity why Sunday? I always hear D+3 or D+5 so wondering why is yours D+7.

the second injection is a bit stingy afterwards but not too bad, my first was yesterday and I had headache and nausea all day today but the nurse did tell me it would happen so tomorrow I will try to increase the amount of water I drink, per her suggestion.

I had my second scan today and eggs are growing as they should, it is under 10, but hopefully, that's enough. I have a 3rd scan on Wednesday and if they are the size they are meant to be I might have my collection on Friday. x

MochaTea · 26/10/2020 20:02

Oh boy, just realized I was replying to an old message haha I see you had a day 3 transfer, and amazing on the Grade 1. Here's hoping that 2 weeks go by fast. @Poppies2020

Poppies2020 · 26/10/2020 20:05

@MochaTea That’s exciting, not too long to wait! I only had 4 follicles grow large enough and still managed 4 eggs, so try not to worry about it too much. I had a 3 day transfer, my collection was Thurs and the Transfer was yesterday. I have been booked in for my pregnancy test next Thursday x

SoNewToThis · 27/10/2020 07:35

@Poppies2020 The nurses are fairly confident that they'll get more eggs if I wait, they think they could lose the leading follicle though as it is already 18mm. I'll just have to see what they look like on Wednesday. I've booked the Monday and Wednesday off to cover either embryo transfer day, I can't get the Tuesday off but I'm hoping I'll be feeling all better by then The pregnancy test is fairly soon, I hope it is positive! x

@MochaTea I hope your scan on Wednesday means you're ready to go forward with egg collection, it's so exciting! x
