Abc IVF

Has anyone recently had IVF with abc IVF? They have approved me for a frozen cycle only at the moment.
Do you know if they are only doing frozen cycles in light of the pandemic.
We have mainly chosen them due to low cost. I appreciate that the low cost means cut backs in certain areas, but I'm often waiting for 1-1.5 hours on the phone to speak to a central phone line for all branches.
It's tricky as I know that IVF is really down to the individuals body response, but I still feel that decisions made by doctors about medication doses etc are important.
Keen to hear about others experiences.

@lcsi2021
Thankyou same to you!!! No way that’s exciting! My meds arrived today. Expecting my period end of this week. Is this your first time? Hope you don’t mind me asking X

KimChinn21 · 23/03/2021 16:23

Hi @Whitney93 I was on gonal-f 225 & menapur 75 wich resulted in 21 eggs and with ABC there only suggesting me being on 150 bemfola so I'm a bit concerned with how much lower it is but with abc they want fewer but better quality I believe so hopefully we respond well! I know bemfola is as good as gonal-f, menapur just doesn't respond well to my body for some reason.

@Beaglemum91

Thanks for that they never actually said how long from the treatment cycle I would be able to start, hopefully I'll be able to start the end of april then Smile

Hi @Hopeful1234567
Welcome to the thread! How exciting when will you roughly be starting your meds? It's nice to have other people to talk to when your going through the ivf struggles ❤

Hopeful1234567 · 23/03/2021 16:26

@KimChinn21 Thankyou! I think at the weekend as day 28 for me is Saturday. It really is, as I haven’t really got anyone else to talk to about it. Didn’t want to tell many as feel it’s added pressure.

Icsi2021 · 23/03/2021 16:33

@Hopeful1234567 my period is due 30th 🤞🏼 Yes this is my first time, so mixed emotions. I do have a child from previous relationship but ido have PSCO now 🤞🏼 Isit your first time? X

KimChinn21 · 23/03/2021 16:36

@Hopeful1234567 definitely!! Only two of my closests friends know. Wow so your ready to start soon so exciting!! Are you doing any acupuncture? I really want to do it again with this cycle so just trying to find one that specialises in fertility acupuncture around here

Beaglemum91 · 23/03/2021 16:38

Welcome @Hopeful1234567 Good luck for the weekend and we are all her supporting you! The team at Manchester are great!

@KimChinn21 they do focus on lower dose to produce less better quality eggs and if you're not responding they adjust the medication if needed.

It is so good having a community to talk to as you go through it all and keep you same! I didnt tell many people for our first round as we didn't know what to expect, but now, before our second round I've decided to go public and raise awareness of it all on social media. I felt that I hated it being a taboo and decided to share out story and have been for over a week now. The support has been great and I feel like I can help others in our situation. I really feel being open and talking helps, but isn't for everyone. And not everyone find these great groups like we do on here!

Hopeful1234567 · 23/03/2021 16:41

@Icsi2021 yes this is my first time, that’s how I feel! Oh no way! Just don’t know what to expect and feel anxious the fact that we don’t have a reason why we can’t conceive just isn’t happening but I guess IVF may show up why. Are you at the Manchester one? X

Hopeful1234567 · 23/03/2021 16:43

@KimChinn21
I did try acupuncture when I felt we were struggling but didn’t work for me. Yes it’s exciting but feel very nervous! When are you starting yours?

Ivfmarch2021 · 25/03/2021 17:50

Hi ladies, after egg collection is it normal to get blood when you go for a wee? So blood mixed with urine (sorry TMI) I am using a sanitary towel not much on there just a little spotting but more so when I've gone for a wee couple times today. Had the collection today

Beaglemum91 · 25/03/2021 18:50

@Ivfmarch2021 I was told its normal to have spotting. I didnt have too much but I would contact the clinic to check. They have the out of hours number you can try tonight I'd you want to. Hope you're okay and not feeling too bad!

Ivfmarch2021 · 25/03/2021 19:09

@Beaglemum91 thank you for your reply. I did mention before I left then I also showed my sanitary towel to a nurse, as there wasn't much on there they weren't concerned. It's just when I go for a wee

Beaglemum91 · 25/03/2021 20:07

@Ivfmarch2021 If you're worried, you can always contact your Dr and see of they will do a urine test to check for an infection.

Ivfmarch2021 · 25/03/2021 20:34

@Beaglemum91 thank you I will do!

Preston12 · 25/03/2021 21:27

Hopeful1234567 · 26/03/2021 13:24

@Icsi2021 That’s exciting! No still waiting for it! How about you? Xx

Beaglemum91 · 26/03/2021 13:44

@Preston12 how exciting for you! My experience was that it was very easy. I arrived with a full bladder, was taken through to the same "ward" area where I was for EC and got settled in. I changed again into a gown and waited to be called in. I was called maybe 30 minutes after I arrived and was taken through to the same place I had EC. Same as before, laid on the table, feet strapped in. The Dr and nurse and embryologist introduced themselves and the embryologist updated me on the embryo they were going to transfer. He then went off to prep it. In the meantime. I moved to the end of the table, the Dr put a speculum in (very similar to when you have a smear) and the nurse got the ultrasound positioned on my abdomen so the Dr could see what he was doing. They inserted the catheter into the uterus (you can also see on the ultrasound) and waited for the embryologist to being in the prepped embryo. They Dr attaches it to the catheter, positions the end of the catheter and then releases the embryo (it looks like a white flash on the screen). The embryologist then takes the container the embryo was in and looks at it under the microscope to check it has indeed left. If it hasn't they go through the prep and inset process again. If it has left and is in you, they remove the catheter, remove the speculum, get you down from the table and you are free to do the wee you so desperately need!

I had 2 paracetamol just before I arrived in case there was any pain, but apart from the full bladder it didn't really hurt, it was just uncomfortable. The speculum was actually the most painful/uncomfortable bit but after a coupe of minutes of getting used to it being there it was fine.

Icsi2021 · 26/03/2021 14:52

@Hopeful1234567 it is supposed to be 30th but i have mega period pains today (TMI) so anytime i think 😬 sooo scared but excited xx
