Has anyone recently had IVF with abc IVF? They have approved me for a frozen cycle only at the moment.
Do you know if they are only doing frozen cycles in light of the pandemic.
We have mainly chosen them due to low cost. I appreciate that the low cost means cut backs in certain areas, but I'm often waiting for 1-1.5 hours on the phone to speak to a central phone line for all branches.
It's tricky as I know that IVF is really down to the individuals body response, but I still feel that decisions made by doctors about medication doses etc are important.
Keen to hear about others experiences.

Poppies2020 · 06/08/2020 14:55

@Elsbels85 congratulations on the good news!!! Did they call you to tell you? I don’t know what that means either, I thought we just got told positive or negative? What did they say the next steps are? I did another test today and it still seems faint, but I think the line is a little darker, not sure if it’s just wishful thinking! This is todays x

@Poppies2020 thank you I'm so excited we have a early pregnancy scan at the clinic abc Harley street on the 24th of this month.

Elsbels85 · 06/08/2020 15:09

Yes they called I had the blood test at 9.30 and they called at 2ish x

Poppies2020 · 06/08/2020 15:15

@Elsbels85 I’m so pleased for you!! Was this your first attempt? I have my blood test tomorrow, going down early around 9am so that I find out the same day. I keep reading about evaporation lines now, so hope that’s not what I’m seeing! x

Elsbels85 · 06/08/2020 15:30

@Poppies2020 thank you yes first attempt been trying for 5 year due to male factor I'm 34.
I was getting really worried about having a chemical pregnancy as was spotting blood yesterday but was told its nothing to worry about, to be fair IVF is a horrible experience so stressful.
But I wouldn't worry about your pregnancy tests some ladies get a negative on a home test and bloods come back bfp, and you do have a line there x

Poppies2020 · 06/08/2020 15:38

@Elsbels85 I’m even more happy for you knowing how long you have been trying. Now you just need to loom after yourself and count down the days until your scan - very exciting! I’ll let you know what they say tomorrow x

Elsbels85 · 06/08/2020 22:04

@Poppies2020 thank you good luck for tomorrow will have everything crossed for you xx

Poppies2020 · 07/08/2020 14:48

@Elsbels85 So, I’m not really sure what to make of my result today. They said it was a positive result, but my levels are really low, they are 25 and they would expect them to be around 125. She said this either means the embryo needs more time to develop and the levels will rise, or it means the embryo hasn’t taken and the levels will drop, giving me a negative result. I have to wait until Tues and go back again for another blood test........

Elsbels85 · 07/08/2020 17:20

@Poppies2020 I'm crossing everything that your level goes up hopefully it's just a slow starter x

Poppies2020 · 07/08/2020 17:28

@Elsbels85 thank you. Just a waiting game now x

Elsbels85 · 07/08/2020 18:36

@Poppies2020 ivf is just a big waiting game x

Poppies2020 · 09/08/2020 18:28

Hi @Elsbels85 How are you feeling? Hope you’re well. I just wanted to ask something, did you have any implantation bleeding or cramps? I did a test this afternoon and it is the strongest it has been, clearly very pink, but I am also having cramps and some bleeding. It’s so hard to know if it’s normal or not x

Elsbels85 · 10/08/2020 17:25

@Poppies2020 I had some bleeding Was only there when I wiped for about 4 hours and yh I've been having bad cramps on and of.
I'm glad its got darker hun thats a good sign good luck for tomorrow will be thinking of you let me know how you get on x

Elsbels85 · 11/08/2020 18:49

@Poppies2020 how did you get on ? X

Poppies2020 · 11/08/2020 21:48

Hi @Elsbels85 thanks for asking. Sadly it didn’t work this time. My blood tests are still positive, but the hcg level hasn’t risen at all, so it won’t be a successful outcome x

Elsbels85 · 12/08/2020 12:33

@Poppies2020 oh hun that's horrible 😢 I was so Convinced it was going to be good news. Xx

Poppies2020 · 13/08/2020 08:55

@Elsbels85 thanks - It was disappointing, but ready to start on the second attempt now. Making sure to enjoy a couple glasses of wine between now and the next start date! x

Elsbels85 · 13/08/2020 09:07

@Poppies2020 that's it jump right back on did you have icis? With this cycle
I would have the bottle
Did they say how long you have to wait for your next cycle? X

Poppies2020 · 13/08/2020 09:25

@Elsbels85 yes I did have icsi and we managed to get a really high grade embryo. Positives are that I did get pregnant, so fingers crossed for next time. I have to wait 2 cycles to allow my ovaries to go back to normal. So they will have a meeting to discuss any changes in my meds, then call me and book me to start hopefully beginning of October. Disappointing it’s 2 months to wait, but I have scheduled things I can’t do once I start such as colouring my hair, massages, drinks with friends ect to fill the time, so hopefully it goes quickly! How are you getting on? Have you told family and friends or are you waiting for your scan? x

Elsbels85 · 13/08/2020 10:51

@Poppies2020 It will fly by please keep me updated.
I'm fine a little bit Anxious for the scan I've told Close family and friends still doesn't feel real x

Poppies2020 · 13/08/2020 15:29

@Elsbels85 I will definitely. You will be fine! I think everyone feels anxious before that first scan, but I’m sure time will fly by and it will arrive soon. After a 5 year wait it is obviously meant to be your time now x

Hi there, I used ABC IVF last year and my twins are now 14 weeks, sharing my experience here in case it's helpful.

We had two cycles with ABC, overall very positive experience. No surprise charges and much cheaper than other clinics. The nurses were great, we had Ali for both treatments, she was reassuring all the time and made me feel relaxed.

The initial screening was actually the difficult part, as lots of tests need to be done and documents submitted. Once that was out of the way I found the cycle itself quite painless. SO if you've already passed the initial screening, that's a big step towards success.

For the first cycle I had c11 eggs collected, 5 fertilised, and 3 reached day-5 blastocyst with good grade. A top-grade embryo was transferred but it didn't work. I was shuttered back then. I recall when they did the transfer at Create St Paul (ABC's sister clinic), the doctor said that the catcher with the embryo got stuck! And I saw a sticky blob came out the day after my transfer, so I suspect they did not place the embryo in the right place (though I will never find out). For the second round, we specifically asked a test run to be done before the actual embryo was put in (this is very important, the doctor did that for my second cycle). We also learnt that the doctor who did my first transfer is no longer with Create, which is a relief.

For the second round, I was actually worried the whole time. I didn't produce as many eggs this round, I only had 3 eggs collected, and 1 fertilise, so they had to do an early day-3 transfer. So I think the dose of the drug may not be as important, it may just be your body condition in that month. Very fortunately for us, that 1 embryo survived and I got a positive result 2 weeks later. Then at the 7-week scan we found out that the embryo split and we are having twins! That made me very excited but worried as well, as twins are higher risks for birth defects etc.

Again fortunately everything worked out in the end, and we now have two healthy daughters just passed 14 weeks old. So overall very happy with ABC, but as any IVF journey it's very emotionally straining and had lots of ups and downs. Just hang in there and things will work out!

Poppies2020 · 09/10/2020 18:26

@Itworkedoutintheend Congrats on the positive result and birth of your twins!! Your story was very positive, thanks for sharing. I had the same, 3 eggs collected, 1 fertilised and an early transfer, but it didn’t work out. I am starting my second cycle and have my first injection tomorrow, your story has made me feel very positive! 😊 x

Itworkedoutintheend · 09/10/2020 19:10

Thanks and best luck for your new cycle, finger crossed!
