Hi everyone, we got the call today to start our first round of IVF. We’ll be starting drugs in a couple of weeks and injections late June - anybody with me???

@J1984 my partners was 5/6 days. We knew we needed ICSI beforehand, we also needed to have it frozen. When it was thawed we had a good fertilisation rate.
I think clinics generally say anything between 2-7 days

Msl1980s · 26/08/2020 08:35

@J1984 we had sex on Wednesday night (quite late, maybe around 11pm)and partner gave his sample at 11am Friday morning. Not sure about how good his stuff was! But we did have. A very good grade embryo. I messaged the nurse Wednesday afternoon and she said probably best to have sex that day as the last time we had sex was about 4 days before

J1984 · 26/08/2020 09:10

@JandL2020 - Thank you

@hopefulvibes - Thanks our clinic in Brno does ICSI as standard so I am hopefully worrying for no reason. Also had a significant increase in Sperm Count over the last 6 months so fingers crossed. My wife is telling me not to worry but that's like telling water not to be wet LOL

@Msl1980s - Weirdly enough we were told to cease Sex from the date we got our treatment plan which was the 15th July. So it's like I am a teen again LOL

Weswoo · 26/08/2020 09:27

@J1984 day of trigger shot for us for the same reasons you have mentioned about quality

Msl1980s · 03/09/2020 19:44

Hey, how is everyone getting on here? Got my first scan on Tuesday. So impatient now! Still haven't had any symptoms whatsoever so beginning to think there is nothing going on!

J1984 · 03/09/2020 20:08

So my wife has her 1st scan tomorrow. Today will be the 6th day on Gonal F. (225 IU)

Apart from headache on the 1st day and a little abdominal pain and very slight bloating which she hasn't even complained about she's had no other side effects.

I'm getting impatient as I just want to know everything is on track. Also we fly out to the Czech Republic on Monday and me being me I'm panicking as it looks like cases are increasing over there. I just want to get over there and I'll probably be more relaxed.

LizTay80 · 03/09/2020 22:55

@Msl1980s
Evening, doing ok this end thank you. My scan is on Monday & it honestly couldn’t come soon enough. It still doesn’t feel real to me and I’ve been fretting over the absence of symptoms, only been feeling exhausted but that’s about it.

How are you getting on? What time is your scan on Tuesday?

@J1984
Hope it all goes ok for you & your wife tomorrow. Fingers crossed those follicles are growing nicely. That’s great she hasn’t had too many symptoms either. I found the bloating the worst during stims- I felt like I could burst 😂

Hope everyone else is doing ok.

LizTay80 · 03/09/2020 22:56

Oohhh quick question for anyone that knows.

After the 7week scan if all being well 🙏🏼🙏🏼 Do you get discharged from the fertility clinic then have to wait for your 12? Or are there more inbetween.

Msl1980s · 04/09/2020 08:24

@lizTay80 my scan is at 11am Tuesday.
Yea I've been tired but then I'm always tired! I think once you have the 7 weeks scan then that's it, you tell your doctors and just go with the NHS from there.
Although I think we may get a private scan at 10 weeks as that's when we lost ours last time so just want to be sure it's still there (if something is there!!)
x

LizTay80 · 04/09/2020 08:57

@Msl1980s
Oh wow! Feels like such a long time after the 7week to wait for the 12. It’s an agonising wait as it is. I don’t think I’ll ever feel reassured.

Good luck for Tuesday.
Have you felt any different with this pregnancy?

Msl1980s · 04/09/2020 09:45

@lizTay80 no and that's what is worrying me and think that's why I'm struggling to sleep (aside from sore boobs which are making it uncomfortable at night). I had no symptoms whatsoever last time and had a miscarriage at 10.5 weeks so am a bit nervous with the lack of symptoms now.

J1984 · 04/09/2020 10:52

So my wife had her scan this morning after 6 injections of Gonal F. Endometrial thickness is looking very good nice and thick. With low AMH of 2.4 she was told she only had 3 follicles on both sides. Well post scan she has been told there are 2 very nice follicles of good size on both sides. With the other 4 smaller. So depending on what they do with her medication hopefully at least 4 eggs can be collected maybe more. At the end of the day it's Quality over quantity so fingers crossed. Feel a bit more relieved now

J1984 · 04/09/2020 11:03

@LizTay80 Thanks - Yeah we are both glad and a bit more relieved

Sazzle1000 · 04/09/2020 11:53

Hi all

Glad to hear all is going well @J1984

Yep the waiting is tough @LizTay80 @Msl1980s - I’m 11 weeks today and my symptoms have virtually disappeared, it’s so weird not having a clue what’s going on in there 🙈

OP posts:
J1984 · 04/09/2020 21:14

The first Cetrotide injection this evening after the Gonal F. The mixing needle is gigantic and wide the look on wife's face when she thought I was injecting her with that 😂😂😂

Hurt a bit more and she's trooper so she has deserved some fudge cake and Crêpes tonight 😊

LizTay80 · 08/09/2020 09:45

Morning everyone

We had our 7 week scan yesterday and all went really well, got to see the wonderful flicker of babes heartbeat. Was the most amazing but surreal experience.
So funny it looks like a little monkey nut from the scan photos!
Definitely feel more reassured now ( temporarily ha ha)

Hope everything goes well today for you @Msl1980s

And also hope everyone else is doing ok

X

hopefulvibes · 08/09/2020 09:48

I'm glad everything's going well for everyone!
I'm stuck having lining issues for the FET, at risk of it being cancelled I think 😩

Msl1980s · 08/09/2020 13:43

Hiya! Yep @lizTay80 saw a little heartbeat today! So weird!
Now I've got the fun task of getting to see a specialist as I have virtually no cervix after 2 letz ops years ago and getting a stitch in. Ouch!

Noori2020 · 27/10/2020 09:03

I started my second round of ivf just before lockdown. I had to be stopped due to lockdown. Only got as far as using buserilin.
Now I am 12+5 weeks pregnant. We conceived naturally 🙏🏼.
We are not being refunded for the meds and have been told to just dispose of them. The meds are all stored as per guidelines. We have spent so much on the meds and I don’t wish to just dispose them. Does anyone know how I can at least get some money back for them if not all.

Msl1980s · 27/10/2020 11:11

Hi @Noori2020
As far as I know you won't get a refund on any medication and I think it says that in the terms and conditions or on emails when you buy them.
It is also illegal to sell or give any meds to other people.
It is a pain but not much you can do unfortunately.
I'm 15 weeks pregnant from ivf but I'm still keeping my excess medication and needles etc just on the off chance anything goes wrong and I can still use them (fingers crossed it won't though)

IVFat43 · 30/12/2020 21:04

I’m about to start IVF with stimulation tablets in January and injections/transfer February...anybody with me on this journey? Covid is worrying... this is our 1st attempt and I’ll be turning 43!

shona2020 · 16/01/2021 20:52

Hi
I am trying to conceive more than a year. Our GP said try for 1 year at least. Now our GP recommended for fertility clinic.
I have no idea what to do, how to start, where to go?
What will be the first step?
Is fertility test worth in Ireland?

Your help will be really appreciated.
Thanks
