Hi everyone, we got the call today to start our first round of IVF. We’ll be starting drugs in a couple of weeks and injections late June - anybody with me???

Afternoon! So I've heard from the lab again and they have said all 6 embryos are still going. They said some are doing better than others (didn't say how many) so now just another 2 day wait! All this waiting is so annoying Grin
What's the drop off rate from day 3 to day 5?? How many of yours made it to day 5?
They haven't changed my transfer time so still booked for Wednesday afternoon

LJM83 · 03/08/2020 19:10

@hopefulvibes thanks - that's really useful, I was completely clueless!

@Msl1980s that's great news - very positive Smile hopefully they continue as they are going and you have some good results on day 5 (some may also make it in day 6 as well and be suitable for freezing 🤞🏻). Positive thoughts!

I'm now day 6 post trf and desperate to test - i need willpower!

LizTay80 · 03/08/2020 19:28

@Msl1980s
Thats fantastic news! So pleased for you

I’m not sure about the statistics after day 3, but I read from day 1-3 is the worst bit when you may see between a 30-50% drop off rate. If you’ve got 6 still hanging in there that’s great.

We had a call this morning too. I was so fearful as I worked myself up in a right state over the weekend worrying.
Our 4 are still going too 😊
One is strong, two are average, one is poor But also highlighted that the poorer quality may catch up and could overtake the better ones. Embryo Olympics! I’m just hoping And praying we get one. Another in the freezer would be amazing but we’ll see. 🤞🏽🤞🏽

@LizTay80 great news 👏🏻

hopefulvibes · 03/08/2020 20:03

@LJM83 are you going to wait or do you think you'll give in? Stupid question... is the TWW a full 2 weeks? I want to book test day off work

@Msl1980s I lost more between fertilisation and day 3, than between day 3 and day 5. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that they carry on developing nicely!

@LizTay80 I've got my fingers crossed for you as well!

@Victoria842159 and @Elsbels85 how are you both getting on with the wait?

hopefulvibes · 03/08/2020 20:05

*Got my numbers mixed up, my biggest drop was fertilisation!

LJM83 · 03/08/2020 20:19

@hopefulvibes over the period of 'trying' naturally (about 2.5 years) I learnt not to test to almost avoid disappointment and I've very much got that mindset still - it was almost like testing was me admitting there was a chance and therefore setting myself up for failure.

I will def try and hold out a few more days.......in my head I'm pretty certain it won't be positive because this is our first round.

I was told to test 12 days after trf so not quite 2 full weeks but pretty close!

Elsbels85 · 03/08/2020 21:10

@hopefulvibes the wait has been torture got my blood test Thursday but I gave in yesterday and started testing got a faint positive yesterday and tested this morning and it's still faint but darker then yesterday

LJM83 · 03/08/2020 21:31

@Elsbels85 wow - great news, congratulations!! 👏🏻

Elsbels85 · 03/08/2020 21:46

@LJM83 thank you xx

hopefulvibes · 03/08/2020 21:55

Congratulations @Elsbels85, so happy for you!! Is this your first round as well? Hopefully give us first timers nice positive thoughts

Elsbels85 · 03/08/2020 22:08

@hopefulvibes yes first attempt I honestly thought I had no chance especially having a day 3 embryo but it's looking good still got everything crossed x

Sazzle1000 · 04/08/2020 07:37

Congratulations @Elsbels85 that’s brilliant news!
I have to confess I gave in at 7dpt to test with an early response - it’s soooo hard as it’s on your mind 24/7.

It's so hard isn't it @Sazzle1000 what day did you get your BFP?

I notice a lot of people talk about a blood test - I'm not due to have one in fact it's never been mentioned. I guess it is because my treatment took place in the UK and I'm in Guernsey. I was told to test on day 12 (day 7 today) - what day did / do you guys have a blood test?

Elsbels85 · 04/08/2020 07:57

@Sazzle1000 it was really hard not to test, I tested again this morning and it's even darker.
I'm still in shock keep looking at it 😂

Elsbels85 · 04/08/2020 08:01

@LJM83 my blood test is Thursday but I started testing 7 days after embryo transfer x

Sazzle1000 · 04/08/2020 10:10

I’ve not had a blood test either , was just told to test on day 11. I tested 7dpt and got a faint positive but didn’t want to rely on it as I know the trigger shot can stay in your system for a while and give false results, so I checked again 2 days later and it was pretty strong by then! 😁

@Elsbels85
Ahh that’s amazing news! So pleased for you.

I know I’m totally going to end up doing the same. The nurse kept drilling it into me not to test early but I just know I’ll break.
I have my transfer tomorrow hopefully if all is well 🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽💚

Sazzle1000 · 04/08/2020 18:36

Good luck @LizTay80, hope it all goes tomorrow!

Elsbels85 · 04/08/2020 19:19

@LizTay80 thank you and good luck for tomorrow x

LizTay80 · 04/08/2020 20:17

Thank you ladies @Elsbels85 @Sazzle1000
😊

Sounds random, but were you guys pretty restrictive in what to do during the 2WW?
If everything goes to plan can I just resume normal activities?!
I’m a bit fearful going back to work as my job is pretty stressful & I’m on my feet for ten hours doing a lot of moving about/ manual handling.
Also in terms of exercise, what’s ok during this time? A friend asked me if I wanted to go paddleboarding but I’m a tad concerned 😬
Any info would be greatly appreciated :)

hopefulvibes · 04/08/2020 20:24

@LizTay80 I'm still yet to experience the TWW but I'm sure they say don't go swimming, so it depends how steady you are on your feet for paddle boarding haha!

hopefulvibes · 04/08/2020 20:25

@LizTay80 P.S. good luck!!

Elsbels85 · 04/08/2020 21:13

@Liztay80 I took it easy the day of egg transfer and the day after.
They told me to stay away from heat !! Baths hot tubs sunbathing was told to take warm showers
