Hi everyone, we got the call today to start our first round of IVF. We’ll be starting drugs in a couple of weeks and injections late June - anybody with me???

@Elsbels85 could some of it be left over from your latest scan (I presume you had it the morning of the trigger) rather than ovulation?

@Victoria842159 My consultant did warn me that due to the volume the quality would be lower, so higher volume isn't actually best! And of course it brings with it the risk of OHSS. I'm just praying that the quality hasn't been affected too much

Elsbels85 · 21/07/2020 19:57

It Should be fine I'm just worrying that I'm ovulating already, havent got any pain it's just the discharge what is worrying me worry, I've googled it but nothing comes up about the discharge. I took the shot last night at 2:30am in the morning was a nightmare getting that time but was the only space they had left ! Gotta be at the clinic tomorrow at 2pm

Victoria842159 · 21/07/2020 20:23

@hopefulvibes I hope that you are starting to feel better and you don’t get OHSS. Are they planning a 5 day transfer for you on Saturday? I’m sure that out of all 16, a few of them will be good quality. I’m worried about the quality of mine too. I’m 37 and age is not on my side in terms of quality. My husband keeps telling me that it’s out of my control now and I just have to stop stressing and try to get myself in the best shape mentally and physically for transfer and to keep positive. It’s so hard though - it’s all I’m able to think about.

@Elsbels85 I agree with Hopeful, the discharge could be related to the gel they use on the scanning probe. Bless you, can’t have been fun waking up that early to do the trigger. Not long to go now before EC is all over, it will be fine. Try to plan a nice relaxing evening for yourself afterwards.

Congratulations to those who have a BFP and good luck to all of you starting or undergoing treatment. We have just had one round of IVF approved and I have an appointment with the an anesthetist start of Aug. I am 41 next month and we have been trying on and off for over a year. But I’ve had a lot of stress, family bereavement, stressful job, relocation and now a new diagnosis of mixed connective tissue disease. I’ve previously had my thyroid removed (Cancer) and take thyroid hormone replacement. I was told that my AMH was 3.15 and FSH 15 and my US was normal with 6 follicles on one side and 8 on the other. I know I should feel hopeful, but I feel like the odds are stacked against me. I’ve also just had to start a new immunosuppressant medication for my joints which are in a bad way due to the MCTD ... I wondered for all of you, what was your age and AMH? The consultant has told me I have less than 10% chance with IVF :( I have started taking a pre-pregnancy vitamin and Cq10. Is there anything else I Should try. I do yoga sometimes and think I will try acupuncture. Xx

Victoria842159 · 22/07/2020 10:14

@Sian7919 bless you, sounds like you’ve had an awful time of it lately. Hope things start looking up for you now Smile
I’m 37, two months away from turning 38. I have an AMH of 8.5. Never been told my FSH.
In preparation for my first IVF cycle, I bought the book “It Starts with the Egg” by Rebecca Fett. I was conscious that I wanted to try to improve my egg quality. She recommends a lot of supplements to take alongside the standard pre-natal (such as Umbiquinol and vitamin d). I loosely followed her recommendations and took some of the supplements. I also bought a book by Zita West “The IVF Diet”. We have always eaten quite healthy and I am pretty active, but the book recommends certain foods to help at certain steps of the journey, so I’ve sort of followed that well. Other things I did was try to be as healthy as possible, I gave up caffeine and alcohol around 6 weeks before starting stims and I’ve been trying to do yoga and meditation. My job is pretty stressful so I told work all about the IVF and they informed me we have a fertility policy where I can take days off for procedures and relaxation; my boss has been mega supportive and taken some pressure off me as well, so that has helped a lot. I have heard that acupuncture can help too, but I’ve not got round to trying that.
Sounds like you are doing the right things to prepare. I genuinely think that trying to relax lots and being kind to yourself and taking time out for you are the most important things you can do.
Wishing you best of luck for you first appointment Smile

Elsbels85 · 22/07/2020 16:49

EC went ok very sore after. only got 7 eggs so really gutted

Sian7919 · 22/07/2020 21:34

Thanks @Victoria842159 yes I won’t lie, it’s been a really tough last few years and to top it all off just found out my neighbours are planning a massive 3 months extension project that will start soon and over the duration of time I’m supposed to be working from home and also sitting some professional exams 😩 I guess I will just have to do my best with it all. Thanks for all the tips. I’ll have a look at the books. I haven’t received a start date for my first and only NHS funded cycle yet, I have to have an info session first and sign some paperwork. The dr said it could take up to 3 months before it starts. Good luck to you all who have already started. If anyone can share their AMH and how many eggs they made initially I would be really grateful. The dr said that because my AMH was 3.15 I might only produce 2 eggs! Which doesn’t sound too good!

@Elsbels85 glad the EC went ok. I really hope you have a good outcome from them. Is this your first attempt? X

Elsbels85 · 23/07/2020 09:16

Hi @Sian7919 yes it's my first ivf cycle, the pain from the EC is a lot better today just feels like period cramps, I'm now sitting and waiting for the call to see how many fertilised, this is going to be a tough few days I can't take the not knowing

Sian7919 · 23/07/2020 09:28

@Elsbels85 that’s understandable. I’d be exactly the same. Try and take your mind off it by distracting yourself, maybe some fresh air with a short walk would help. Sending you positive vibes 🤞

Victoria842159 · 23/07/2020 09:53

@Elsbels85 glad the egg collection went ok and you’re feeling a bit better today. 7 eggs is brilliant. Please don’t feel too disheartened. I only had 7 eggs too and 5 of those fertilised...and the clinic just called to say all 5 are doing well and booked me in for a transfer for Saturday morning. I know how you feel though - the waiting is torture!! I’m just praying now that at least 2 make it through to Saturday - would be so nice to have a back up one for the freezer! But right now I’d be grateful for just one ok blasto to transfer!! Good luck for this morning’s call - I hope you get good news!!
@Sian7919 with my AMH of 8.5, I got 7 eggs. Not loads but they seem to be doing ok on day 3. I know it’s cliche but it honestly only does take one Smile

Elsbels85 · 23/07/2020 10:07

Hi ladies so update on my telephone call out of the 7 eggs only 4 were good enough for fertilization and 3 out of the 4 got fertilized they want to do a day 3 transfer due to low eggs

Sazzle1000 · 23/07/2020 11:11

I hope your feeling ok @Elsbels85, as @Victoria842159 says, it really does only take one - I only had 3 out of my original 7 left by day 5. Wishing you lots of luck.

Victoria842159 · 23/07/2020 11:41

@Elsbels85 a lot of people on here have had great results with 3 day transfers! Keeping fingers crossed for you. Does that mean you are having your transfer on Saturday too?

@Sazzle1000 hope you are feeling ok in early pregnancy Smile

Elsbels85 · 23/07/2020 18:34

@Victoria842159 yes will be Saturday for day 3 transfer not sure if they will freeze the other 2 or try and get them to day 5 then freeze them. They're calling me tomorrow to let me know what time Saturday and if they have developed, all the way through my injections and check up scans there was always 3 follicles that was doing better so maybe its them 3 that have fertilised

Emm09 · 24/07/2020 17:08

Was a hour late with progesterone On day 6 of Transfer will everything be ok x

Elsbels85 · 25/07/2020 09:52

Morning of egg transfer excited emotional it's been a crazy rollercoaster gutted my husband isn't allowed in but will have a picture of the embryo. They have graded them to grade 1 eggs we are letting the remaining two to try to get to day 5 and if they do they will be frozen.

Sazzle1000 · 25/07/2020 10:43

Wishing @Elsbels85 and @Victoria842159 the very best for your egg transfers today 😊

Violetvice · 25/07/2020 11:18

Good luck @Elsbels85 and @Victoria842159!

How are you feeling now @hopefulvibes? On the way back to feeling normal?

hopefulvibes · 25/07/2020 11:38

Good luck with the transfers today!
Sorry I've been quiet, resting as much as possible and sleeping a lot! I'm still a bit bloated and there's still some pain from collection on Monday. I'm awaiting a call today to say how many embryos they've been able to freeze, my day 3 update was positive, so I'm hoping there's a few strong ones made it to day 5

Victoria842159 · 25/07/2020 11:43

Hi everyone,

Thank you @Violetvice and @Sazzle1000. I’ve just left the clinic. Transfer went well, worst thing was being uncomfortable from the full bladder 🙈 I had one hatching blastocyst transferred and got to see it on the screen and in the uterus which was amazing. And as a bonus there’s two high grade blastos going into the freezer today and possibly two more going in tomorrow. Absolutely chuffed and praying that this little one sticks now 🙏🏼 OTD is 5th of August...lots of plans to relax over the next couple of days and then keep busy until test day.

@Elsbels85 I hope that you have had a good transfer experience too. Keeping fingers crossed for both of us 🤞🏼

Hope everyone else is doing ok and having a good weekend Smile

Victoria842159 · 25/07/2020 13:25

@hopefulvibes sorry, only now seeing your comment. Hope that you got some good news today. Yes I’m still very bloated and a little sore from the collection - definitely made the transfer a bit more uncomfortable. I’m sure it will wear off soon and we will get back to normal.

@Emm09 I’m sorry I’m only seeing your comment too. I’m far from an expert, but I can’t imagine taking your progesterone an hour late will have any major effect. But for your own peace of mind, might be worth calling the clinic and speaking to your fertility nurse, I’m sure they will have some good advice for you

Elsbels85 · 25/07/2020 16:19

Thanks ladies,Tranfer went really good didn't hurt just the full bladder was uncomfortable same as @victoria842159 said, honestly though I was going to wee myself. my linning of the womb was perfect. I'm having a sofa day for the next few days, I must say its lovely having the hubby running around after me 😂 the 2 weeks will be dreadful the not knowing

hopefulvibes · 25/07/2020 19:35

@Elsbels85 @Victoria842159 glad the transfers went well!
I'm feeling really down at the moment, should have got my day 5 update today but the clinic didn't call me :(

Elsbels85 · 25/07/2020 20:06

@hopefulvibes that's really bad of them! What clinic you with ? When I went for egg transfer today Hardly anyone was there saw more on my EC

Victoria842159 · 25/07/2020 20:07

@hopefulvibes aww that’s really poor of the clinic to do that! Not nice at all to let you worry all weekend Sad
I know it’s easier said than done, but try not to worry. All week I’ve adopted the “no news is good news” theory. So on the days when the clinic didn’t call - I took it to mean that everything was fine. I’m sure it’s the case for you as well and will be keeping my fingers crossed for you Smile
