Hi everyone, we got the call today to start our first round of IVF. We’ll be starting drugs in a couple of weeks and injections late June - anybody with me???

And they've phoned! I have 14 frozen :O I think they were just waiting until this morning to see if there were any day 6 that could be frozen

Sazzle1000 · 26/07/2020 10:10

Awwwww @hopefulvibes that is absolutely brilliant news - you must be so relieved 😁

Thanks @Sazzle1000! I was pretty confident there would be a few frozen as I had really good day 3 numbers, but it was more the stress and disappoint of them not updating me Saturday when I was expecting it. Oh well it's over and done with now and they are safely tucked in the freezer. Hope everything's going well for you!

Victoria842159 · 26/07/2020 10:34

@hopefulvibes fantastic news!! So happy for you Smile And so glad that they called you today so you didn’t have to worry anymore. 14 frozen is a seriously impressive number - well done you!!

LizTay80 · 26/07/2020 14:25

Hello Ladies

I hope you don’t mind me joining Smile

I’m a bit behind you guys but it’s lovely to hear some positive stories, and hope it’s all going well for those still undergoing treatment.
I am currently on day 6 of Stims-( first ivf cycle) with egg collection due possibly this week or early August.

Did anyone during stims find themselves constantly feeling bloated and with period like cramps? I know it’s probably side effects of the Gonal F but a big part of me is concerned I’m being over stimulated or I’m going to ovulate already.

X

LJM83 · 26/07/2020 15:40

Hi all - I'm a bit late to the group but hope it's ok to join.

I'm 37 and have a 6 year old daughter - conceived naturally, we have been trying for no.2 for 2.5 years with no joy - no problems picked up on any tests with me or my husband.

In the midst of our first cycle this month. 11 eggs collected, 10 fertilized. Day 3 today and one is looking good with 3 more being slightly behind where they would like them to be. Was due to trf on Tuesday but the clinic are now going to call on Tuesday AM to let me know if there are any to transfer 😢

Is there any chance that the ones lagging behind will catch up? If so, if they aren't at the optimal stage by day 5 can they still be transferred?

Really gutted - I wasn't expecting success on round 1, I have been quite realistic with my expectations but to not even get to transfer stage would be so hard.

I hope you are all coping well as well as can be expected x

LJM83 · 26/07/2020 20:29

@LizTay80
Hey - good luck with your cycle :-)

Yes, I found myself very bloated and generally uncomfortable - I also felt quite bloated after egg collection for a few days. Completely normal I think x

LizTay80 · 26/07/2020 21:44

@LJM83
Thank you!
Yeah it’s pretty uncomfortable. I had some endometriosis removed back in December and it vaguely feels like those pains again. I’m hoping that hasn’t grown back just yet and will effect this cycle.

I’m so sorry to hear about your recent news from the clinic. Hopefully over the weekend they’ve stayed strong and you will get your transfer Tuesday after all. All it takes is one Smile
Are they going to contact you tomorrow aswell to let you know of progress?
I have everything crossed for you.
Xx

Victoria842159 · 27/07/2020 12:52

@LizTay80 hope that your stims is progressing well. I don’t recall having cramping but I was definitely bloated. But nowhere near the bloating that’s I experienced after egg collection. However I was on menopur during stims and not Gonal-f so unsure if the side effects are different. Try not to worry too much about ovulating early, I was a bit concerned about this, but from what I’ve read it’s very rare to occur and your clinic will be monitoring you closely. Hope you next few scans go well Smile

@LJM83 I hope that you will get some encouraging news from the clinic tomorrow. I had two embryos that were lagging behind the other three slightly and they kept them until day 6 (yesterday). They did catch up and reached blastocyst stage and are now in the freezer. So don’t give up hope, some embryos just take a little longer than others. And as cheesy as it sounds - it does only take one!! Keeping fingers crossed for you Smile

Hope everyone else is doing ok!!

LJM83 · 28/07/2020 11:13

Thank you @Victoria842159 @LizTay80 I had a call this morning to say that the 1 has continued well and came be out back today (phew!) and 3 others remain a day behind, so might be able to be frozen tmw.

Wishing you all lots of luck and sanity during this very bizarre time for us all! x

Victoria842159 · 28/07/2020 12:16

@LJM83 that’s fantastic news! Best wishes for the transfer - it’s a breeze compared to the egg collection!

Msl1980s · 31/07/2020 17:06

Had my first egg collection today! 9 eggs collected. Haven't felt any pain or anything since then. Was surprised the nurse said I could have a glass of wine this evening and might do that seeing it will be my first in about a month! How many eggs did people get collected and how many fertilised if people don't mind me asking?

LizTay80 · 01/08/2020 08:56

@LJM83
How did your embryo transfer go?
Hope you’re doing well.

@Msl1980s
How are you feeling post egg collection?
I had mine yesterday too. Feeling a bit tender but ok overall.
I had 14 eggs collected which I was optimistic about, but had a call this morning to say only 4 fertilised 😢 bit of a shock as I didn’t expect so many to drop off. 6 didn’t even survive the injection as they were too sensitive. The others were too immature.
I’m having a little panic worrying we’ll have none.
Have you had a call this morning with an update?
Sending lots of positive thoughts your way.

LJM83 · 01/08/2020 09:25

@LizTay80 thanks for asking, the trf was absolutely fine, very quick and barely felt a thing. Just a little undignified but I'm sure we're all used to that by now!

4 fertilised is still good, they could all make it to day 3 and on to day 5. I had 10 out of 11 fertilize which they said was fantastic but I had some rubbish-ish news on day 3 (only one good one at that stage) so everyone is so different. Try and remain positive - your day 3 results could be excellent.

I was rather naive (first cycle!) and thought that once collected all made it through the next few days - it soon become apparent to me that wasn't the case.

Wishing you lots of luck over the next few days 😘

LizTay80 · 01/08/2020 09:45

@LJM83

Thank you! I’m truly hoping they stay strong and hang on in there. I was told to be prepared for a day 3 transfer which is Monday but they would prefer day 5 Blastocyst but we’ll have to see how they go.

That’s exactly how I feel! I almost want to kick myself for being so stupidly naive thinking all 14 would be perfect!

Glad your transfer went well. Hope you’re managing to keep nice and busy during the 2WW. Xxxxx

Msl1980s · 01/08/2020 09:46

@liztay80 I feel absolutely fine. No pain at all. Only thing I've had issues with are my boobs hurting so bad that I couldn't sleep properly last night!!

I wouldn't worry about how many fertilised, you only need 1!and I've had many friends who only had 1 egg collected and that one fertilised and became a baby.

I missed the call from the clinic as they called at 8.30am and I was fast asleep Confused
Waiting for them to call back. But I do have an appointment for an embryo transfer for Wednesday afternoon on the clinic app so guessing one must have made it at least!

LizTay80 · 01/08/2020 10:10

@Msl1980s

I feel your discomfort there! I’m struggling to wear bras at the moment as they just feel pretty sore!
Glad you’re feeling fine following E.C
How many did you have collected?
Thank you for the reassurance. I’m trying not to get too bogged down by the numbers. As you said it only takes one.
Going to see my friends new baby this morning which was conceived via IVF so hopefully that bitta positivity will help me.

We may be transfer day buddies. 😊
Hope you manage to hear back from the clinic today. X

Msl1980s · 01/08/2020 10:23

Oh just got my call and out of 9 eggs, 6 fertilised. I guess that's good? I knew not all of them would make it but anymore than 1 I'm pleased with! Just got to see how many make it to monday morning now!

hopefulvibes · 01/08/2020 10:28

@Msl1980s that's great news, so happy for you!

@Msl1980s and @LizTay80 my boobs were really sore and sensitive for about a week and a half after collection but they did settle down eventually!

LizTay80 · 01/08/2020 10:34

@Msl1980s

That is great news! So pleased for you.
Sending lots of positive vibes for our embabes!
Monday feels such a long way away for me, I know it’s not but that annoying part of my mind hates the mor knowing.

Msl1980s · 01/08/2020 10:38

@lizTay80 whatever happens happens. Smile only annoying thing for me was finding out that if none survive and we have to do this again we have to wait 2 months before we can start again! I thought you could just go straight back into doing the drugs again etc

LizTay80 · 01/08/2020 10:52

@Msl1980s
Exactly. I keep telling myself it’s out of my control now and I’ve done all I can.
Why is it you have to wait two months? Is that to just give your body a break or due to the backlog?
I do recall our clinic saying if we needed a FET if this was unsuccessful they’d be a wait.

Msl1980s · 01/08/2020 12:10

@lizTay80 yes they said your body needs to go back to normal and get all the hormones out. Rather frustrating as I'm impatient and I honestly just thought you just kept going straight away! Oh well. Fingers (and legs) crossed for us all!

LJM83 · 01/08/2020 15:28

@Msl1980s and @LizTay80 I thought the same, that if it was unsuccessful you could just crack straight on - especially if it is a frozen trf, obvs not!

Does anyone on this thread know the process for a frozen trf? What prep is required etc? I have the added difficulty of living in Guernsey so each trip to the clinic in the UK requires two weeks isolation on return 🤦🏻‍♀️

Can anyone share any 2WW symptoms? I'd love to know what you are experiencing. I'm 4 days post trf (I think - I presume trf day is 0 and not 1?) and have had some very mild cramping - but that might just be because I am paying attention to every little twinge! x

hopefulvibes · 01/08/2020 16:08

@LJM83 I'm having a FET, I was freeze all at egg collection. I have to have two bleeds before transfer, it's seems like it'll take forever but it's actually going quite fast! The wait is worth my body being in a better place for the little embryo. When I start my second bleed I start injections and then add tablets in as well. The injections are for at least 21 days, and then they can transfer depending if the thickness of the lining is good enough
