Hi everyone, we got the call today to start our first round of IVF. We’ll be starting drugs in a couple of weeks and injections late June - anybody with me???

Hi Bec656,

Sorry you feel a bit disappointed that transfer might not go ahead straight away but I guess on the plus side it means that you should get quite a few eggs from your collection which is great and as you say it means you can focus on being really well for the transfer. When is collection day?

I start my injections on Monday - hoping I’ll get used to it pretty quickly.

How is everyone else doing?? Xx

Hi everyone, I’m about 3 days to go on the injections, hubby has been amazing! Not really had much in the way of side effects either which has been a bonus 😊
How are you all doing @user1475505106, @bec656, @JandL2020, @irisnotadaff????

@Sazzle1000 I'm glad you've been finding the injections okay! I'm not looking forward to them one bit, hate needles!! I've over half way through my Norethisterone tablets, due to start stims in a week and a half x

Sazzle1000 · 29/06/2020 08:29

Do you have someone who can do your injections for you @bec656? I liked being able to just look away 😂 they’ve all gone in my tummy and it’s not been too bad.

Violetvice · 29/06/2020 22:58

Hi all, wanted to join in here as I finished norethisterone yesterday and so start injections next week. So glad this is finally happening! Does anyone have any tips for dealing with the stress of all this while in lockdown? Yoga is working out ok for me, but can’t say I’m a natural yogi!

bec656 · 30/06/2020 05:07

@Sazzle1000 yes I'm going to go to my mums every morning to do them for me luckily! I think it's when I move to two a day that it's going to be worse, I've heard the others ones I've got sting!

@Violetvice welcome! How exciting! I've been using the mindful ivf app for some meditation, and listening to a podcast called BFN, I've found they've been helped me massively

Sazzle1000 · 01/07/2020 15:41

Welcome @Violetvice :) I haven’t really done much for the stress of it apart from lots of fresh air walking the dog. I’ve only really noticed the effect of the injections over the last two days as I’ve gradually got more fed up & emotional - proper PMT type stuff!!

@bec656 I’ll give that podcast a go too I think thanks 👍 glad your mum is there to help you, it was really good just to have someone else preparing them so you don’t have the stress of that too.

Had my scan today, everything looking ok, all ready now for my trigger injection later and my egg collection on Friday morning - definitely feeling apprehensive for this 😬

Sazzle1000 · 19/07/2020 14:35

Hi all
How are you getting on with the injections @bec656, @Violetvice? Hope they are going ok and not making you too emotional.

Thought I’d better update on here (as it drives me mad when people don’t) 11 days ago I had one embryo put back in (I ended up with 2 good ones after having 7 collected) and as of today we are officially pregnant 😁😁 we are obviously feeling very blessed to have been so lucky and hope all of your treatments have the same result 🤞🤞

Congratulations @Sazzle1000 so happy for you!!!

Egg collection in the morning eeek, they've already told me I'm a freeze all cycle now, so it'll be a good few weeks until a FET!

Violetvice · 19/07/2020 22:49

Amazing news @Sazzle1000! Very pleased for you, must be such an emotional feeling!
Thanks also for asking, I had my egg collection on Thursday, 20 eggs collected but same as you @bec656 I had already been warned I was probably going to be a freeze all because of follicle number. It feels great to not be injecting and bloated anymore! I’ve got my fingers crossed now for the day 5 update on Tuesday.

@bec656 I loved the meditation app you recommended so thanks so much for that. Best of luck with collection tomorrow, let us know how you get on.

So slightly different as I'm posting here and not my wife. This is our first time doing IVF which is scheduled for 2nd week of September with Reprofit in Brno (Czech Republic). Trying to make a holiday out of it and relax in this stressful situation. We didn't qualify for NHS funding due to my wife's low AMH even though the cause of the infertility is my Sperm count and motility.

It's been a long and stressful 2 years trying to conceive which has been stressful for both of us. Have lost 8kg in weight over Lockdown which has somehow had a miraculous effect on my sperm count which measured 10million (Sept 19) and then Zero in Feb 2020.

Last sperm analysis showed my count at 84 million which has given us both some positivity though Motility and morphology are low hence going for ICSI.

My wife will start with Birth Control pills from tomorrow and injections from August. Had my last beers this evening as trying everything to give ourselves the best shot.

Do any ladies recommend Accupunture - I've read loads of posts that advise to carry this out. My wife is dead against this as she doesn't like the idea of it so I'll be doing my own fertility massage on her which I've seen on YouTube.

Ok enough rambling from me - is there anything else which you would recommend. I've heard giving up sugar is one. We are trying to eat healthy and give ourselves the best shot.

It's nice to know others are in the same boat so good luck ladies.

@Violetvice I'm really glad you've enjoyed the meditation, his voice is so dreamy I fall straight to sleep 😂 My bloating has gone down slightly since the trigger, but I was getting so uncomfortable. I have over 20 follicles just on one ovary, and the other ovary is just slightly lower! Good luck for tomorrow, I hope you have lots of love blastocysts!

@J1984 I had acupuncture before I started treatment, but then covid hit and obviously everything paused. Since having treatment I haven't actually been back to acupuncture as I've been trying to avoid people as much as possible, the clinic said they can cancel treatment if I get any symptoms so I've mostly stayed at home. Make sure you find a good fertility acupuncturist, there's a list on Zita West to find a local one to you. I know some people are sceptical but if I anything it actually helped me to relax and it was almost like a counselling session getting things off my chest and chatting about everything

Thank you @bec656 and @Violetvice 😊 its very surreal after seeing so many stark white pregnancy tests!

I hope your egg collection goes well today @bec656 - I’m sure you’ll be feeling a little delicate afterwards but, in my case at least, in about 36 hours I felt back to normal.

Keeping my fingers crossed you get positive news on Tuesday @Violetvice.

I have read that having frozen embryos but back later can have better results as your body has chance to recover and be in the best health for transfer.

Wishing you both well this week!

Hi ladies hope you don't mind me jumping in 😊 I take my trigger shot tonight and my egg collection is on Wednesday I am so nervous, had a scan today and they counted 24 follicles which is very good I'm just worried about them fertilising we are using icsi due to male factors! 5 years ttc

Violetvice · 20/07/2020 18:56

Hi @J1984, nice work on looking out for your wife and getting on this message board to find support - and for giving up the beers! My husband did the same with alcohol, we just decided to cut out anything that wouldn’t help us for piece of mind. I managed stress by making time for long dog walks, pre-natal yoga and the app that @bec656 recommended in the chain above (Mindful IVF). I used that for 20 mins on my lunch breaks and evening before bed. Yoga breathing techniques also really helped me - deep and controlled breathing whenever I felt stressed, it really shouldn’t be underestimated. I was on a waiting list for fertility acupuncture (I’m in London and think they’re in demand) but never went due to lockdown. I had researched a lot of positive stuff about it but personally, in this current environment, I wouldn’t go through with it now based on having to do whatever possible to not get COVID so treatment isn’t cancelled.

Welcome @Elsbels85! We are also having ICSI as we have male factor issues. Remember all it takes is one good one though...that’s what I keep having run through my head! You and @bec656 should make sure you give yourselves time let to rest after collection. Like @Sazzle1000, I was exhausted for two days after and I normally like to think of myself as having a lot of energy and getting on with stuff, so I hadn’t prepped myself for that.

@Sazzle1000 thanks for all the positivity!

Elsbels85 · 20/07/2020 19:44

Hi @violettvice I've booked 3 weeks off work with the injection plus scans it was just easier to book it off, will be doing everything in my power to keep my stress levels down. my husband sperm count is really good his problem is the motility most of them have a rounded head instead of a point. Where abouts are you in your ivf jorney x

Victoria842159 · 21/07/2020 14:46

Hi all, is it ok if I join in please?
I’m in the middle of my first IVF cycle after one failed IUI attempt. We have unexplained fertility and have been TTC for 3 years.
Had my egg collection yesterday - went much better than I thought it would (had worked myself up into a right state beforehand). Feeling fine today - little sore and tired but apart from that all good. They managed to collect 7 eggs and the clinic called this morning to say 5 had fertilised. Not quite the numbers we were hoping for, but with our age, the consultant seemed happy.
They said they are planning a 5 day transfer on Saturday, so praying that some make it through to Thursday - that’s when we get the next update from the clinic. The waiting is so hard.

@Sazzle1000 huge congrats on your BFP, I can see you also had 7 collected - so you are my inspiration at the moment Smile

@Elsbels85 I know it’s easier said than done - but please try not to worry about the egg collection. I was dreading it and didn’t sleep at all on Sunday night - but it was totally fine. I had sedation and didn’t feel a thing and slept the whole way through. Don’t remember a thing and felt totally relaxed when I woke up. Slightly sore and bloated afterwards but fine today.

How’s everyone else doing today?

Sazzle1000 · 21/07/2020 16:12

Welcome guys and thank you 😊@Victoria842159 sounds like your journey is very similar to mine right now, I had 7 and 5 fertilised, 3 surviving until day 5. The nurses seemed to think that was pretty normal so don’t worry.
@Elsbels85 don’t worry too much about the egg collection, I just felt like I’d had a lovely sleep.
@bec656 how are you feeling???

OP posts:
Elsbels85 · 21/07/2020 18:17

Thanks ladies I will try my best not to worry but never been put to sleep or anything.
After your trigger shot did anyone loss a lot of discharge? I mean alot more then normal? Thinking I've ovulated already 😒
@Victoria842159 5 fertilised sons really good xx

hopefulvibes · 21/07/2020 18:52

@Sazzle1000 I honestly feel like crap, but 22 eggs collected and 16 fertilised, no pain no gain 💪🏼

@Elsbels85 we had icsi as well. Good luck for tomorrow and be kind to yourself afterwards

@Victoria842159 I'm on the same day as you, awaiting my day 3 update on Thursday to see how many are progressing! The wait is horrible!

hopefulvibes · 21/07/2020 18:53

Oops btw it's bec656 I named changed and forgot to change it back for this so you all know who I am

Elsbels85 · 21/07/2020 18:59

@sazzle1000 16 that's amazing
Thank you hope I get as many as well lol did you get discharge after the trigger shot ?

Victoria842159 · 21/07/2020 19:12

@Sazzle1000 thank you. You’ve helped put my mind at ease a little. Keeping my fingers crossed that one at least makes its through to Saturday.

@hopefulvibes wow 16 fertilised is really impressive. Totally understandable that you are not feeling great today. Keeping fingers crossed for you that you get a good update on Thursday! The wait is horrible! Makes it a little easier to have someone on the same journey though.

@Elsbels85 I did have discharge after the trigger. Not loads. I was very worries that I would ovulate before EC, but I didn’t. The clinic will have worked your timings out and they are usually pretty good with it. My EC was done at exactly 9.30am yesterday which was exactly 36 hours after I was told to take the trigger and all way well. I’m sure it will all be fine for you tomorrow too
