Hi all

I recently had a mmc from my first IVF cycle and am waiting for AF to appear (probably 3-4 weeks away) so we can do FET. I think we'll probably go for a natural cycle but am waiting for some information from my clinic to make a final decision. Had follow up consultation yesterday and will be having nurse consultation in the next couple of weeks hopefully. If anyone is happy to share their FET experiences I'd love to hear them. A little worried that a natural cycle might be the wrong choice. Anyway, if anyone fancies joining me for some support then join the thread.

My nausea's been much the same @Roobles79, ramped up around weeks 8-10 but still kicking my butt most days. I feel like I've completely wasted the two weeks I've had off over Christmas because I've been feeling so tired and sick. Very glad to have not been at work though! Have my booking in appt today, currently 11 weeks.

I’ve spent most of the break napping as I feel absolutely drained. I found the weeks before Christmas such hard work and I really wanted to be able to return refreshed. Fortunately my nausea has passed (14+4) but I lost weight in the first trimester so now I’m trying to build it back up.

@marmite83 I hope the booking in appt is ok.

@Roobles79 how far along are you now? Hopefully you’re over the worst.

Roobles79 · 30/12/2019 14:04

Me too @marmite83 God knows how I'm going to manage a whole day at work tomorrow. Just popped out and felt rough so straight home and feet up with sparkly lemon water!! Congratulations on 11 weeks that's fab x
@betsyboo87 I'm 7+5 today still feels like a long way to go. When did your nausea subside? x

justtheonethen · 30/12/2019 14:34

Hey all. Sorry to hear about the tiredness and nausea. Hope you all feel better soon.

I've been in hospital since Saturday morning as my hyperemesis got out of hand again. I am now on steroids and like a new woman.

Sending love to all, wherever you are on the journey. Do we have any new cycles starting?

LillyLeaf · 30/12/2019 14:43

It will be interesting going back to work on Thursday, not really sure how I'll feel without a lazy morning and afternoon naps. I had yet another scan yesterday. It was very different from the very clinical scans at the IVF clinic. Is was at the of those 'window to the womb' places. As I walked in I was freaked out by all the baby photos and 3d scan photos and thought this is not the place to get bad news! But actually it was really nice and I got a proper look at it. Again I measured 2 days ahead but I'll stick with my original dates (10+1 today) until the 12wk scan.

Betsyboo87 · 30/12/2019 14:59

@justtheonethen oh no! I’m sure that’s not where you want to be spending your Christmas break. Great that the steroids are working though and I hope it continues to improve.

@Roobles79 10/11 weeks was a turning point for me. It was also the time I stopped all meds so I do wonder if they contributed to my nausea too.

@LillyLeaf that’s great the scan all looked good. I was a week ahead at 12w but they said they don’t move ivf dates as they know the conception date.

BeaCat · 30/12/2019 18:32

@Roobles79 still not much nausea unfortunately. Sounds pretty horrible but it would be nice reassurance. Yours sounds quite bad though!

I did an online calculator and apparently im 6 wks + 5 days.

Feeling pretty lethargic, I'm usually well up for sale shopping but just can't be bothered at the moment!
Another funny one that I haven't heard anyone else mention is feeling really knackered walking up stairs, anyone else had that?

Roobles79 · 30/12/2019 19:40

@beacat I know a lot of people who didn't have any nausea and still went on to have healthy babies so try not to worry. And it's still early for you, plenty of time for nausea to happen! Yes I know what you mean about stairs, breathlessness is common I think but not sure why, extra blood? X

ginandtonicformeplease · 31/12/2019 10:10

@BeaCat Whether you get morning sickness is hit and miss I think - there's no logic to it. I really wouldn't worry.

@LillyLeaf I don't know how accurate this is, but when I had a scan in one of those places I was measuring two days ahead and the sonographer told me that's common with IVF babies.

@justtheonethen I'm on steroids too, but I've been on them since the transfer. I've been feeling pretty sick at times and I have wondered how bad I'd feel if I wasn't on them!

I've been working over the past couple of weeks - except bank holidays - but at home, so I've been able to have a nap during my lunch break Grin I'm not back in the office until next Monday day and I'm dreading it already. Plus all I really want to eat during the day is toast, which is out at work as we don't have a toaster. I'm currently at my desk (at home) wondering if anyone will notice if I just go back to bed.....

Roobles79 · 31/12/2019 10:52

I'm at work today too @ginandtonicformeplease and not feeling any nausea at all! Yes i'm sure you can have a sneaky nap! x

Little update from me ladies 😭💔 we had our first scan at 6+5 and all went well with a strong heartbeat. I was instructed to stop my progesterone at 8 weeks so did so and 2 days later had brown spotting that I thought was just withdrawal symptoms. Went for another scan yesterday and although baby had grown nicely there was no heartbeat they messured at 8+1 so their heart stopped the day after I stopped my pessaries 😢 I'm heartbroken. Why is life so cruel. 😭 That's our 3rd angel baby now and none in our arms. 😔 We still have 2 frosties left but I know if we try them and get a positive ill be petrified to stop the Cyclogest 🙈 I know it's probably just a coincidence but something was telling me not to stop them despite the nurse telling me to 😐

Roobles79 · 03/01/2020 11:08

Oh no no I'm so so sorry about this @christabelle89. I thought they are supposed to keep the pessaries going until ten weeks. I'm lost for words. Sending you massive hugs. You have two frosties so that's really positive. Hang on in there. Thinking of you xxx

sometimesalways · 03/01/2020 11:21

Oh no I am so sorry @Christabelle89 that's never easy, so sorry you are going through it.
Unusual indeed that they asked you to stop progesterone before 10/12 weeks, but I am sure they know what they're doing. each case is different. Don't give up hope!

Afm, nothing to report. Trying to decide what next and have a follow up with my clinic next Friday to discuss.

If I decide to do another cycle, I will prob start a fresh thread for the Jan/Feb try. Can't believe this one's reaching 1000 posts!

shazzz1xx · 03/01/2020 11:40

So sorry to hear that.. I have been there and fully understand.. I used the pesseries untill 14 week even tho the hospital said stop at 12 weeks as I was also petrified to drip them. Don’t know why they told you to stop at 8 weeks as we all know the placenta does not take over until around 12 week anyway.. all i advise is next transfer you do just take them until 14 weeks 🍀 xxx

shazzz1xx · 03/01/2020 11:41

Drip = stop

Betsyboo87 · 03/01/2020 11:57

@Christabelle89 I am so so sorry to read your update. Life is indeed so cruel. Please be kind to yourself. It could be a coincidence re the progesterone as I’m sure the clinic base their treatment on research and past experience. But next time absolutely take it longer if that makes you comfortable. I think it makes a difference whether it’s a fresh transfer or a FET. Mine was a FET and I was told to stop at 10w.

@sometimesalways I hope your clinic follow up is positive and that you’re able to put a plan in place. Yep it’s crazy we’re nearly at 1000 posts!

justtheonethen · 03/01/2020 13:21

Oh @Christabelle89 I'm so sorry. Life is so unfair Thanks

LillyLeaf · 03/01/2020 13:28

@Christabelle89 I'm so sorry, it's so cruel and unfair. Look after yourself.

ginandtonicformeplease · 03/01/2020 14:34

@Christabelle89 I'm so sorry to hear that Thanks

Did your clinic do anything differently to try and prevent another miscarriage this time? You should be able to get a referral to a recurrent miscarriage clinic, or to one of the clinics that specialises in pregnancy after miscarriage.

BeaCat · 03/01/2020 17:02

@christabelle89 I am sorry to hear about this, you must be finding it very hard.

I had an appointment at the clinic today and she told me to stop taking progesterone end of week 8. I asked why it varies and she said that with a fresh cycle that's when you finish, a frozen cycle you take them up to 10weeks. She said taking them up to 12 weeks has been proven not to be necessary anymore and the body naturally produces it.

Wishing you all the best for future cycles X

BeaCat · 03/01/2020 17:16

She also said that taking progesterone was just to be extra careful as women who conceive naturally don't usually take any.

Russkispy · 03/01/2020 18:34

@Christabelle89 so sorry to read your news. Sending big hugs.

AFM, got all my tests results back and thankfully nothing majorly wrong with me. Maybe high prolactin levels caused the MC as stress increases prolactin and pregnancy is not developing as I was told. I've been on meds since results day. Putting it all behind me. And been given the green light to start new DE FET cycle today. Endo lining scan booked next Friday which will determine transfer date.

sometimesalways · 03/01/2020 19:22

Oh well done @Russkispy great news you have all clear to start again! And that nothing is wrong of course. Fingers crossed 🤞 for you

Will you be doing downreg again or natural cycle?

Russkispy · 03/01/2020 19:25

@sometimesalways doc wants me to have natural. So we will see how things go from today and what the scan shows. And how are you doing/feeling?

sometimesalways · 03/01/2020 23:23

@Russkispy thank you, I am alright, all things considered.. was so relieved it wasn't ectopic that the miscarriage didn't feel as awful an option, not sure if that makes any sense at all. I had a lovely chilled break from everything over Xmas and it helped a lot, but I think I am still processing emotions tbh. And I will be terrified if I manage to get pregnant again! I feel tempted to try again (and btw I loved the natural cycle, thoroughly recommend, if it's an option for you). We will wait to see what my consultant says before any decisions though.

For now I am using my OPK to try and find out when I will ovulate to try and get a sense of dates for my next period...
