Hi all

I recently had a mmc from my first IVF cycle and am waiting for AF to appear (probably 3-4 weeks away) so we can do FET. I think we'll probably go for a natural cycle but am waiting for some information from my clinic to make a final decision. Had follow up consultation yesterday and will be having nurse consultation in the next couple of weeks hopefully. If anyone is happy to share their FET experiences I'd love to hear them. A little worried that a natural cycle might be the wrong choice. Anyway, if anyone fancies joining me for some support then join the thread.

@shazzz1xx congratulationson your little one. oh jeez I hope this doesn't stick around until the end 🙈 it's bordering on unbearable. Eat and I throw up, don't eat and I throw up acid anyway. Just can't win. 😂 I was kind of hoping it might settle down a bit when I stop my progesterone but seems like that may be wishful thinking 🤔

shazzz1xx · 18/12/2019 16:31

Everyone told me it would end at 12 weeks etc and everyone was wrong.. I’d throw just bile on a morning but my food thought out the day... it was hell but worth it and definitely makes you think more positive x

shazzz1xx · 18/12/2019 16:33

Thankyou she’s my world I never thought I’d have a baby.. hard work tho lol x

sometimesalways · 18/12/2019 16:55

Congrats on the bfp @Christabelle89 ! Lovely news
Would perhaps plain oat biscuits help?

Roobles79 · 18/12/2019 17:28

@christabelle89 I'm 6 weeks today according to the calculator then, but last week when I rang the clinic they said only 3/4 weeks 🤔. Just nausea for me, no actual sickness yet.gegting worried now that's its not actual sickness and most people on here seem to have that X good luck for your scan tomorrow. x

Betsyboo87 · 18/12/2019 17:58

@Roobles79 I used the ivf calculator on the flo website where you just enter the transfer date and whether it was a 3 or 5 day transfer. It was a day out from the one the clinic gave me. I measured 8 days ahead at 12w but apparently they don’t move the due date for ivf pregnancies (I’m not in the UK though). Apparently he had just had an early growth spurt!

Oh and I wasn’t sick either, just constant nausea and not wanting to eat anything. Nausea is still a reassuring sign!

ginandtonicformeplease · 18/12/2019 18:07

@Roobles79 Yesterday was the first time I'd actually been sick - I'm 8 weeks today. I really wouldn't worry.

Roobles79 · 18/12/2019 18:24

@betsyboo87 thank you x haven't been pregnant before so not sure e what to expect x how far along are you now?

Roobles79 · 18/12/2019 18:25

@ginandtonicformeplease you're exactly two weeks ahead of me! Reassuring thanks. I find ginger beer is good, non alcoholic obvs XX

Betsyboo87 · 18/12/2019 19:34

@Roobles79 it’s my first too. I really struggled with anxiety for weeks because I overanalysed every symptom/lack of symptom. I’ve now realised that every pregnancy is so different. I’m 13 weeks tomorrow.

ginandtonicformeplease · 20/12/2019 00:00

After being really sick yesterday and Tuesday, and queasy for a couple of weeks before that, I've been absolutely fine today. I'm terrified that means something has gone wrong again - this is the first pregnancy I've had any morning sickness at all.

Marmite83 · 20/12/2019 07:31

How far along are you @ginandtonicformeplease? Morning sickness can vary so try not to panic. I had a day a few weeks ago where I felt pretty normal and was a bit panicked by it but the nausea soon came back in full force.

Roobles79 · 20/12/2019 08:01

I puked up my vitamin today along with ginger beer! I guess it won't matter if I miss one day. Some days I feel fine, others I feel rough and queasy/dizzy but today first day I was sick. Think I'm also tired from relentless working. Seems to be different for everyone XX

Betsyboo87 · 20/12/2019 08:16

@ginandtonicformeplease symptoms can come and go with hormone fluctuations so try to enjoy a sick free day. I know it’s easier said than done, I woke DH up at 3am once to tell him my boobs weren’t sore anymore. By the next afternoon they were the most painful they’d been!

LillyLeaf · 20/12/2019 11:21

I haven't been sick but go between queasiness and mild nausea, nothing too bad, just feel a bit crap sometimes (totally not complaining). I had some pulling, twinges and aches this week which worried me but yesterday's scan looked good and actually looked less like a blob. I have another scan in 2 weeks 3 days (along with NIPT test) so that's a bit scary waiting but nice not having to go through the scan anxiety for a while. My symptoms fluctuate too. I also have my midwife appointment on Tuesday which is crazy getting to that point, I've always had to cancel that appointment as I miscarried before it.

Betsyboo87 · 20/12/2019 15:05

@LillyLeaf great news about your scan. Twinges are normal, I worried when they stopped! The scan and NIPT was when it started to feel real for us. I hope you can relax over Christmas in the meantime.

ginandtonicformeplease · 20/12/2019 17:24

@Marmite83 I'm 8w2d today: both times previously the baby has died in the 8th week, so I'm probably being particularly paranoid. Feeling rather nauseous today again though - I never thought I'd be feeling happy about nausea! It seems to ease off when I eat, so I've had rather a lot of toast and marmite today.

The clinic called and changed my scan from next Tuesday to Monday. I'd rather have it on Tuesday as it's a day further on and better for work (I'm getting intralipids too, which take a while) but there's not much I can do about it.

sometimesalways · 20/12/2019 17:35

Such great news about all the positive scans and pregnancy symptoms! So happy for you ladies and keeping fingers crossed 🤞

Just wondering, as I tentatively start thinking about potential future cycles. Are those of you with bfps taking steroids? If so, how are you finding them; any particular side effects?

Afm I am abroad and took that flight in the end, thankfully all went ok although hCG still not dropped but hopeful it will have on next blood test... in the meantime the clinic took a sample from my uterus for biopsy the day before we travelled to see if they can confirm this way that the pregnancy was in the right place. Won't get a call back before next week now though. But easier to forget my worries during the wait now, what with the change of scenery etc

LillyLeaf · 20/12/2019 18:51

@sometimesalways I haven't really noticed any side effects that could be attributed to the steroids as I'm taking a lot of meds. They maybe disturbed my sleep but that could have been the hormones also. I would happily take them again.

Russkispy · 20/12/2019 19:19

@sometimesalways glad you managed to get on that flight in the end! Have a good break! You so deserve it!

AFM, got some of the results back. Prolactin and thyroid levels are higher than normal. So I'm on meds for those. Smear test is all clear. Waiting for trombophilia and KIR genetics. And AF should start around next weekend after I stop taking duphaston. Then preparations for next transfer.

ginandtonicformeplease · 20/12/2019 20:28

@sometimesalways I'm on steroids, intralipids, vitamin D and clexane. Apparently I have high NK cell activity, and this should help: the science behind NK cells is still disputed and not all clinics follow it. I was on the same cocktail last time and I still miscarried so I'm not confident about it.

As for side effects, this time I haven't had any from the steroids. Last time I was absolutely starving all the time - couldn't stop eating! I put on about two stone in total, but some of that was comfort eating after they told me I'd had a MMC.

There's another thread in Conception about being on steroids (aka pred): www.mumsnet.com/Talk/conception/3689927-Immune-NK-issues-aka-Pred-Thread-no-23?msgid=92455105
It's the latest in a long running series of threads about recurrent miscarriages and treatment for them.

shazzz1xx · 20/12/2019 22:10

The morning sickness will be back @ginandtonicformeplease it just won’t be as strong today.. it comes and goes in waves 🤮🤢

Anaesthetist83 · 21/12/2019 07:43

I’m joining the sick brigade too - OTD not until Xmas day but first tested on Tuesday due to feeling sick and was quite strongly positive. Have got progressively more nauseous since, so doesn’t bode well for this trimester. Cautiously optimistic (never been pregnant before). Already have cyclizine!

No steroids here. It was a FET - long protocol, double dose oestradiol and Lubion in addition to cyclogest. I happen to be on Humira for crohns anyway (but have been throughout trying to conceive so probably hasn’t made a difference). Historically I have had big doses of steroids for my crohns though - give me energy, but often and up wide awake at night, and a constant hunger. Plus definite change in shape of face

Maggie272 · 21/12/2019 10:24

Hi everyone! I hope it's ok to jump on here : )
Started FET protocol in November, after two chemicals - just got my BFP. I'm still only 12dp5dt (or as nurse calls it now 4+2), so it's very early and i'm very nervous. I did test early, and tested again yesterday which was my otd. I just wondered if you guys still tested for a while after getting your BFP? The nurse said I didn't need to as the progesterone will not stop me from bleeding if i miscarry. Sort of want to get of the POAS train! Much love, M x

Maggie272 · 22/12/2019 11:55

Hi everyone, sorry to post again but have a problem with my progesterone shots...they are supposed to be stored at room temp but for two nights windows were left open in the room I was keeping them in and it was so cold. The meds were in a bag in a drawer, no condensation in bottle when I found them. No answer from clinic. All chemists I've phoned say it should be fine. Am finding this so stressful, and advice, reassurance welcome xx
