Hi all

I recently had a mmc from my first IVF cycle and am waiting for AF to appear (probably 3-4 weeks away) so we can do FET. I think we'll probably go for a natural cycle but am waiting for some information from my clinic to make a final decision. Had follow up consultation yesterday and will be having nurse consultation in the next couple of weeks hopefully. If anyone is happy to share their FET experiences I'd love to hear them. A little worried that a natural cycle might be the wrong choice. Anyway, if anyone fancies joining me for some support then join the thread.

Hi @FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF
Are you doing a double transfer?? Very exciting! Were they blastocyst which were frozen at day 3? They'll most likely ring today if not to confirm they progressed to blastocyst stage x

itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted · 01/10/2019 06:58

@Holly147
That's really bizarre that they don't transfer on a weekend? Are you an NHS patient? Also do they make you pay for all the drugs again - bloody cheeky if they do and I'd be looking for a different clinic x

FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF · 01/10/2019 07:17

@itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted No not a double transfer even though dh keeps going on about that! No they weren’t they were too grade I believe at that point so just hoping they go on to be well graded blastocyst! ( I know the grading doesn’t mean much but I suppose we have to hold on to something! How are you getting on? X

LillyLeaf · 01/10/2019 07:34

@Marmite83 my af was 41 days after the first day of MC bleeding, I hope you're not waiting too long.

@Holly147 I've been tempted to do a natural FET but I don't have much trust in my body. After the down reg the rest of the drugs are fine for me although lubion is bloody expensive!

@FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF good luck with your transfer tomorrow, that's very exciting. God I feel like it will be ages for mine, probably the beginning on November.

We just have 1 pgs normal embryo so I'll be really worried about it thawing ok.

itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted · 01/10/2019 08:15

@FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF
We be got 2 5BB embryos frozen which have been tested for PGS - hopefully get the results in about 3 weeks

Feeling a bit deflated that we only got the two and odds are that neither will come back normal so will probably end up doing a 3rd and final round

So will they re freeze one if they both make it to blast but just transfer one? X

FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF · 01/10/2019 08:19

@LillyLeaf thankyou!

@itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted I have my fingers crossed for you!
Yes if it is of good quality then it will be refrozen! So fingers crossed one of them is for transfer at least!

Marmite83 · 01/10/2019 08:50

@sometimesalways yes, I've started using cheapy ovulation sticks, there's a very faint line currently so guess I'm a fair way off ovulation still. If I get a positive at least I'll have some idea when to expect af hopefully.

@Holly147 I'm going for a natural FET too. It's mad that they won't do a transfer on the weekend! Fingers crossed it lands on a weekday for you.

Hope you get a positive phonecall today @FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF

@LillyLeaf I think I'll probably be doing a transfer early Nov too, assuming af doesnt take more than 5-6 weeks. Feels a long was off atm.

I've got everything crossed for you @itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted

Good luck tomorrow @FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF ! Fingers crossed for you!

WorriedButterfly · 01/10/2019 16:18

@Marmite83 my AF was bang on 26 days after ERPC op, which I found amazing - after all the ivf drugs, a pregnancy, MC and ERPC couldn't believe it was on time! I hope you don't have to wait too long.

@FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF I hope your transfer goes well.

I've had my BL scan this morning which was fine, first jab tonight! Good luck everyone!

Marmite83 · 01/10/2019 16:33

I'd be thrilled if it came on cd26 @WorriedButterfly but no hint if ovulation yet so I think its unlikely. Of course, I'd rather AF didn't come at all! Good luck with the first jab tonight.

@FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF did you hear from your clinic today? Good luck for tomorrow.

Are you doing opks @sometimesalways?

@Marmite83 thank you unfortunately one of my embryos didn’t survive the thaw which is sad but the other one did and was looking good and should reach blastocyst for tomorrow they have pushed my transfer back a few hours! Just hope this one makes it!

Thank you @sometimesalways

Thank you @WorriedButterfly! Glad your bl scan went well and you can start your jabs

itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted · 01/10/2019 16:39

@FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF
That's good news that one made it - a friend of mine had a cycle with Create last week and they also froze all her grade 1s on day 3 which I though was odd as just assumed all clinics these days let them get to blast to ensure they good enough and then don't have to freeze them again?

FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF · 01/10/2019 16:50

@itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted Well it funny you should say that as dr data was really surprised that they froze them on day 3 so not sure what the thing was!

itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted · 01/10/2019 16:56

@FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF
I'm sure the feedback my friend got was that it was due to her particular cycle? But she insisted that they let a couple of grade 1 go to day blast 5 to avoid the stress of still not knowing whether they would be transferable

Marmite83 · 01/10/2019 16:57

Sad that one didn't make it but better to find out before FET. Great news that you have one that's looking good for tomorrow!

I’m still waiting for my overdue period (def not pregnant)...... grrrrrr I guess having been so unwell it’s not surprising it’s late but I’m now getting impatient. It’s a medicated transfer so even once I start, it’ll be 5 to 6 weeks until transfer. Argh!

mincedpea · 01/10/2019 18:06

Good luck for your transfer @FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF! Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Seems like lots of us are waiting for AF to show up so we can get on with things. Time is so slow sometimes.

On the natural/medicated FET front, I've been told that I'll be taking Utrogest from around 5 days before transfer, and that I'll also be having a trigger, so I guess I'm no longer a natural FET after all. I've got no down-regging or daily injections though. Is anyone else doing some sort of partly medicated FET?

FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF · 01/10/2019 18:10

@itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted Well here good! Yes o think it has added more stress defrosting the day 3s and seeing if they make it! Just hoping it does so I don’t lose any more!
@Marmite83 thank you!
@mincedpea thank you! Can’t help on the partial medicated cycle though mine was fully medicated!

Betsyboo87 · 01/10/2019 19:29

@FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF hope tomorrow goes ok. I’m sorry one didn’t make it but one is all you need.

@mincedpea your FET sounds a bit like mine. I don’t have a trigger but I’ve been taking oestrogen tablets for the last 10 days and then should start progesterone 5 days before transfer. There was no downreg. Feels a bit strange after a fresh cycle!

I have my scan and bloods tomorrow to check I’ll be ok to go ahead with a transfer on Monday. Ivf has definitely tested my patience - I feel like I’m continually waiting for the next stage.

DawnK77 · 01/10/2019 19:48

Hi all, can I join please? Next FET coming up, drugs being delivered in a couple of days and appointment at the clinic at the end of the week to discuss the plan! Nerves kicking in! I've not had any of the drugs for a few weeks now, I'm feeling more me, got to try and keep this feeling going!

Is anyone doing another FET, are you doing anything differently this time? I'm planning on same as last time, no drinking, cut out most chocolate (I can't not have it completely it's my true love) and eat as healthy as poss. And avoid all stress possible!

Holly147 · 01/10/2019 22:56

@itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted @Marmite83 - I know, it's annoying they won't do transfers on a weekend. I'm an NHS patient so it's all been free and as it's a natural transfer cycle there are no drugs. So at least if transfer day falls on a weekend this month, I can try again in November. Wish we could choose another clinic, but we're having PGD and our funding is only with Guy's. They have said that even if it happens on a weekday I might not be able to have a transfer if all the slots are booked up in advance for people on medicated cycles.

@LillyLeaf - glad that most of the drugs are ok for you. I was a bit unsure of the natural cycle as well, it seems strange to just hope things happen naturally after all the drugs we've had previously!

Fingers crossed for your results @itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted

Good luck for tomorrow @FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF!

itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted · 02/10/2019 07:34

@FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF
Good luck today 🤞🤞🤞

mincedpea · 02/10/2019 08:38

@Betsyboo87 Thanks for sharing your treatment plan, it does sound a bit like mine although no oestrogen tablets for me. I think a totally natural FET would just be trying to time the transfer a few days after ovulation. Part of me wants no more drugs and part of me feels like the drugs have been what's got us this far and I'm reluctant to try without them. This is a happy medium for me. It's my first transfer though (we didn't have a fresh one) so I might be asking to all the meds next time if it doesn't work.

Hope your bloods and scans are good today so you can get on with your transfer on Monday!

@LillyLeaf I've been following your dilemma and I'm glad you've come to a decision. Hope you are doing OK.

@DawnK77 Hello, I remember you from an earlier board, I think (May/June IVF). Sorry that you're back on here but also welcome and hope it's better this time around. Hope you don't mind me asking if you also had to have a break because of OHSS?

@FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF Here’s to a good transfer🤞🏾🤞🏾🤞🏾

FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF · 02/10/2019 10:21

@Betsyboo87 thankyou! Yes I am trying to keep positive this is the one so hard to at times though! I know what you mean about the waiting it’s all you do and then when you get to one point your the. Looking to see what your waiting on next! Hope your scans and bloods go ok ready for transfer!

@itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted Thankyou 😊

@DawnK77 just the same as last time mostly no drinking, limited caffeine (one cup a day) don’t eat to many sweet things and try and eat healthy which has been hot and miss also drinking full fat milk and having acupuncture this time.

@mincedpea thankyou

Just been for some acupuncture this morning and have another later on afternoon dh is currently doing my head in as he is anxious and is trying to keep busy bless him really!

sometimesalways · 02/10/2019 11:14

@Marmite83 I did opks till the surge appeared and then stopped - my period should be due in a week exactly. I think.

@mincedpea I am also going for natural this time but at my clinic that's also not entirely natural! I don't have any oestrogen or ovulation shot, but I will have progesterone support from around time of ovulation (lubion), as well as blood thinners. I don't know if that's good overall in terms of getting results, but it's def good for my nerves not to do down reg again! I am much calmer about it. And I do acupuncture now independently to complement.
This way is also cheaper and quicker. We can do another cycle immediately after I think
