Hi all

I recently had a mmc from my first IVF cycle and am waiting for AF to appear (probably 3-4 weeks away) so we can do FET. I think we'll probably go for a natural cycle but am waiting for some information from my clinic to make a final decision. Had follow up consultation yesterday and will be having nurse consultation in the next couple of weeks hopefully. If anyone is happy to share their FET experiences I'd love to hear them. A little worried that a natural cycle might be the wrong choice. Anyway, if anyone fancies joining me for some support then join the thread.

@Maggie272 if the pharmacist has advised it's ok then it's fine. They know their drugs.

Marmite83 · 22/12/2019 12:33

@Maggie272 firstly, congratulations on your bfp. I'm sure the shots will be fine. I was told to store mine in the fridge during the heatwave in summer. I doubt the room temp was any worse than a fridge. Try not to panic. Regarding testing, you'll get mixed opinions. I personally waited until I was a week on from OTD and did a clearblue digi to check the weeks had gone up. Then I freaked out because it hadn't. Did one again two days later and it had gone up. Haven't tested since. I'm currently 9+5 and everything was fine at my last scan.

@Maggie9000 congratulations!
I don't think the temperature is a problem for the meds, and would go with what the pharmacist says. I think extreme heat is more of a problem than cold in this case.

And thank you so much for your responses re: steroids @Russkispy @LillyLeaf @ginandtonicformeplease @Anaesthetist83
Very helpful to know, I need to have a good think as might need to take them if we try again.
I am now following the pred thread, might jump in if I decide to take next cycle...

Betsyboo87 · 22/12/2019 14:22

@Maggie272 if the pharmacist says it’s ok then I’m sure it is. Re poas, I just did one. I know I read into everything and would analyse the line day by day and add to my anxiety. I also know they if the worst does happen, hcg can remain in your system for days or weeks after and therefore still give a positive. I don’t want to take that reassurance away from you, but this was my rational.

Maggie272 · 22/12/2019 21:37

@Marmite83 you put it in the fridge! Wow, ok I'm reassured : )

@LillyLeaf @Betsyboo87 @sometimesalways thank you all for replying! The clinic know I've been struggling with my mood since starting on the hormones, and although she said I was fine she started me on a different progesterone shot, and was really kind.

@Betsyboo87 yes she said if I wanted to test in a week that would be fine but if anything happen I would likely bleed. Will be going for 6wk scan in 11 days too so will know more then. It's exciting but so many things can go wrong.

i hope you are all well xxx

Maggie272 · 22/12/2019 21:39

@sometimesalways I'm not sure if this helps but I was on a steroid called medrone for 4 days before my transfer...to allow my body to accept the embryo. Not sure if this is standard for every clinic but mine does it xx

Roobles79 · 23/12/2019 08:47

Morning, hope everyone is OK. I'm at work today with a bag of dry shredded to keep the nausea at bay! Weekend felt rough but not sick and slightly better today. Had a tiff with husband last night as he wants me to eat more veg, No! I can barely eat cereal and bananas haha. I don't have my scan until 8th Jan which will be week 9! Causing me a bit of worry tbh. That's the earliest they could fit me in with work commitments. Hopefully all is well keeping positive as much as I can and fingers crossed there's a heartbeat and all is well xx

ginandtonicformeplease · 23/12/2019 20:11

I had my nine week scan today (two days early) and the heart is still beating! It's the first time I've made it this far, and I can't quite believe it.

Booked another scan in for two weeks. I think I may as well invest in an ultrasound machine, would probably work out cheaper Blush

Roobles79 · 23/12/2019 22:04

Yay @ginandtonicformeplease brilliant xx

BeaCat · 24/12/2019 08:38

Hello, I hope you don't mind me joining you? My timings are quite similar to lots of you. Had my fresh transfer early December and luckily got a BFP. Got my scan booked 3rd Jan. Just wondering when you count the weeks and days, do you go from first day of last period or egg collection for a fresh transfer? X

LillyLeaf · 24/12/2019 08:55

@ginandtonicformeplease that's fantastic news. I know how you feel, I can't believe it either. My reassurance from Thursday scan has gone and I had to wait 2 weeks for another, even thinking about having another one next week, is that too much?

@BeaCat if you Google 'IVF due date calculator' you can put in your transfer date and if it was a 5 day transfer etc. Congratulations.

I have my midwife appointment today which is crazy. I hope they are nice and understanding about how anxious IVF pregnancies can be.

Marmite83 · 24/12/2019 10:08

Fantastic news @ginandtonicformeplease, hang in there.

I'm sure the midwives will be very understanding. My last one had done IVF too so she really understood which was fab.

Congrats @BeaCat and welcome

Sorry @LillyLeaf meant to tag you above

@LillyLeaf I've always found the midwives to be lovely. I've only just made my booking in appointment as I didn't want to tempt fate! I suspect that may delay my 12 week scan somewhat, but after all we've spent on IVF another private scan isn't going to break the bank!

LillyLeaf · 24/12/2019 10:29

My mum is actually a recently retired midwife and she is lovely, I feel slightly guilty keeping all this from her and it would have been very useful to ask her questions during these early weeks but she's very emotional and would take on a lot of this stress which I don't want. I wonder if the midwife will offer a reassurance scan but I doubt it. I think I can get one for about £50 which is a lot cheaper than my IVF clinic.

Russkispy · 24/12/2019 13:47

@ginandtonicformeplease glad the scan went well!

@LillyLeaf hope the appointment goes well!

@BeaCat congratulations! Good luck for the scan!

Russkispy · 24/12/2019 13:48

Christmas could be hard for some of us this year but I still want to wish you a Merry Christmas full of good health, love and laughter and everlasting joy in your lives! And of course lots of BFPs who are still waiting and all the best for "graduates"! And hopefully soon we will join the graduates!Lots of love from Russki 🎄🎄🎅🎅🎅

sometimesalways · 24/12/2019 17:55

Oh @Russkispy thank you, you too! And same to all, a merry Christmas!! And all the luck in the world so we can all get what we want in 2020.Xmas Smile

I just got a call from the hospital and the biopsy showed the pregnancy was indeed in my uterus, so no ectopic after all! Yay
and hCG has now dropped so we can finally relax.
Of course not good news that this was in fact a miscarriage but we have a follow up with our clinic in Jan to discuss next steps. But at least this stressful chapter is finally over, and right on time to enjoy Xmas day

Marmite83 · 24/12/2019 19:38

@sometimesalways, so relieved you finally have an answer and can relax and enjoy Christmas. I've got everything crossed for a better outcome for you in the new year.

Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you all have a lovely time celebrating and hopefully we'll all have our little bundles by next Christmas.

@sometimesalways what a relief! Of course it's sad it all ended it like this but! Now this is over, you can start think of next steps! 2020 is going to be our year! Merry Christmas, lovely ladies! 🎅🎅🎅

justtheonethen · 25/12/2019 06:33

Merry Christmas to you all. Everything crossed that we all welcome our babies in 2020.

BeaCat · 26/12/2019 07:13

Thanks @LillyLeaf for telling me about the calculator, it sounds silly but I don't really want to know my due date yet in case it doesn't happen. When I had my last 7 week scan there was nothing there so it had failed at a very early stage.

Based on my last period I'm about 6.5 weeks. Though getting anxious as no nausea yet. When it did it start for everyone else? X

Betsyboo87 · 26/12/2019 10:55

@ginandtonicformeplease great news that your scan was looking good

@LillyLeaf we spent a lot on early scans, they really reassured me and helped my anxiety. If it helps then go for it, early pregnancy is hard. Hope the appt went well

@BeaCat at 10dp5dt I was told I was 4 weeks so you could work it out based on that? Congrats on your bfp.

@Russkispy Merry Christmas to you too. I really hope 2020 is a good one for you.

@sometimesalways great Christmas news for you that it wasn’t an ectopic. Wishing you the best too with the next steps.

LillyLeaf · 26/12/2019 11:42

I hope you all had a nice Christmas and let's hope next year is better than this one for us all.

My midwife appointment was fine. I felt really faint from from all the blood drawn and she had to go in both arms because no more blood was coming out of the first arm. I never normally feel faint, I've done IVF FFS, I used to constantly getting my blood taken. And because I felt so awful I couldn't think of any questions to ask. She said I'll be consultant lead because of the IVF, is that the same for everyone? I've booked another scan for Sunday as I'm feeling very anxious. I just keep feeling I should be feeling more nausea, more sore boobs, more tired and more activity in my uterus?

@sometimesalways so pleased you finally got answers and it's over, everything crossed for you next time.

@BeaCat I know what you mean about due dates, I remember my previous ones, I have another one at the end of January which I know will be hard especially if this one doesn't work out. My nausea hasn't been that bad but was more noticeable at 8.5wks, before that it was just queasiness.

Roobles79 · 30/12/2019 11:17

👋Hope you've all had good Xmas break. The nausea has got stronger and hits me most mornings without fail, not subsiding til 6pm everyday. So safe to say I haven't enjoyed much festive fare! Mostly eating cereal, dry toast and fruit! How are others doing on here? Any nausea yet @beacat? Mine didn't start til week 6/7 I'm still waiting for my viability scan on the 8th Jan xx
