Hi peeps :)

I’ll hyperlink this to our old thread so we can continue bitching about crystal82 😂

I can’t believe we’ve almost got to 1000 posts. I didn’t even know that was a thing - thank you @kittykatsmile because I had no idea it would just max out and I can NOT go on without you all. That’s not even an option.

@KittyKatSmile are you in a cult that will give birth in a forest?

I'm still not discharged from the fertility clinic yet!

Cauliflower82 · 22/07/2019 20:20

@CornishMaid1 that’s excellent news :)

OP posts:
KittyKatSmile · 22/07/2019 21:05

@Ginandtonic31 pretty much. I'll be in Guernsey which is outside of the NHS, amongst other things, like the British government, the EU, the requirement to pay tax, etc. So something of a cult, yes.

Ginandtonic31 · 22/07/2019 21:22

@KittyKatSmile what happens then? Insurance?

KittyKatSmile · 22/07/2019 21:47

@Ginandtonic31 no, it's got its own health system (which I assume I can access. Maybe should check that out!) but it's just nothing to do with the NHS so my notes etc wouldn't transfer over or anything. I'll just have to get into that system at some point.

Cauliflower82 · 23/07/2019 06:05

Guys can you please help me - I’m spotting red blood! I don’t want to google and I can’t ring up my clinic this early. Please if anyone is out there, help.

My breasts no longer feel the horrible heavy reassuring weight they’ve felt for almost two weeks now. I’m just sitting, too scared to cry, in bed.

OP posts:
Cauliflower82 · 23/07/2019 06:57

My husband has went out to buy a pregnancy test week indicator one but I just don’t think that’s going to offer me any reassurance right now.

OP posts:
Cauliflower82 · 23/07/2019 06:59

Do you think my clinic will see me today? My husband isn’t going in to work now - he’s decided to stay home in the hope they do see me. I am approximately 5 weeks 5 days.

KittyKatSmile · 23/07/2019 07:02

@Cauliflower82 hey darling. Call your EPU and explain what has happened. They may be able to scan you today. Thinking of you. I know this is scary but there are lots of reasons you could be bleeding and they're not all bad. Thinking of you x

Cauliflower82 · 23/07/2019 07:05

What’s EPU?
I’m so dense. Xx

OP posts:
Cauliflower82 · 23/07/2019 07:07

I’ve found it - there’s one in Newcastle so not too far at all. Thank you.

OP posts:
Cauliflower82 · 23/07/2019 07:15

I’ve just taken the test, it says 2-3 weeks.
I don’t know if that helps or not!

OP posts:
KittyKatSmile · 23/07/2019 07:18

@Cauliflower82 sorry hon. Didn't mean to be jargon-y. Thinking of you x

AliciaWhiskers · 23/07/2019 08:16

@Cauliflower82 agree with KittyKatSmile to contact the EPU this morning and see if they can do a scan. Thinking about you and hope all is well xx

Cauliflower82 · 23/07/2019 08:41

My clinic have said they’ll scan me tomorrow but that it’s probably going to be far too early to see anything, I’ll be 5 weeks, 6days then. They said a blood test would confirm pregnancy either way. Thank you both for getting back to me so early. I think it’s just going to be a day of sheer worry today. I’ve come back to bed in the hope of sleeping but I’m guessing that won’t happen.

OP posts:
Cauliflower82 · 23/07/2019 11:47

Sorry people, me again.
The week indicator pregnancy test came up as 2-3 weeks which means I’m behind. That would date me at only 4 to 5 weeks.
5 weeks and over should say 3+ and mine doesn’t.

KittyKatSmile · 23/07/2019 11:58

@Cauliflower82 what more did your clinic say about the blood tests? Did they say they'd do them to check your HCG? I am not sure how much you can trust the specifics of those tests; it's probably more about the progression rather than being able to take anything from it in isolation. You really need to get the blood tests so you can see what your levels are doing over a couple of days. I'm so sorry you're going through this darling girl x

KittyKatSmile · 23/07/2019 12:01

@Cauliflower82 should also say that a few days at this stage is really neither here nor there. This is all going to be based on averages and few of us are average. That is only really a difference of 4 days. See if you can get the bloods.

AliciaWhiskers · 23/07/2019 12:08

@cauliflower82 oh this waiting is agonising. I’m sorry you can’t see clinic until tomorrow. Thinking of you lovely. Is your DH still with you?

Cauliflower82 · 23/07/2019 12:18

@KittyKatSmile and @aliciawhiskers thank you for getting back to me. The clinic only said a blood test would confirm pregnancy, they never said anything about checking progression. Should I insist on that tomorrow as well as a scan? My DH stayed off work this morning but had to go in as there are too many people on holiday right now. He’s just rang me and he should be home by five. He needs the day off tomorrow and thankfully he can have it even though it’s such notice. @kittykatsmile I know you’re totally right about those stupid tests - they prey on people like us! I’ve been so quiet recently and I feel so bad. Now I’ve needed you and people just help straightaway. I’m just finding the whole thing so hard to talk about even before the bleeding - I just worry all the time.

OP posts:
KittyKatSmile · 23/07/2019 12:24

@Cauliflower82 you don't need to worry about being quiet. You need to do what's right for you. A blood test will confirm pregnancy but it won't be able to say how far along you are because (I think) levels are all so individual. If you repeat it after 2-3 days, it can then tell if you are progressing as you should be. But you need a starting point to go from I think.

AliciaWhiskers · 23/07/2019 12:50

My understanding is the same as KittyKatSmile. The blood test measures HCG levels, which on their own might not be very meaningful, but taken 2-3 days apart you would expect them to increase (double, I think) so you can check things are progressing as they should be. If it’s too early to see much on the scan, perhaps they will do the blood test and then repeat it on Friday. The limbo is so hard, and it’s even more difficult if you are someone who worries about things anyway. Don’t feel bad about whether you are here much or not, we all have phases of being active and quiet, and that’s fine. You can chat to us whenever, nobody will mind if you have been around recently or not. Glad your DH can go with you tomorrow. What are your plans for the rest of the day today?

Welshpugmomma · 23/07/2019 14:03

Hi @cauliflower82 hope your holding up, I also did one of those digital expecting it to have increased from the previous week but it had stayed the same I've saved my money and not bought another Because I read they are very tempremental and aren't really a true indication of anything :/ I hope you get some answers tomorrow, thinking of you xx

Cauliflower82 · 23/07/2019 15:37

I’ll absolutely insist on a blood test tomorrow and one on Friday - I’m not very good at demanding things though so I’m just going to have to toughen up. The bleeding appears to have stopped altogether now. I’ve just had a couple of hours in bed sleeping - my dog not leaving my side at all and now we’re just about to read a book or maybe watch tv. I should probably go sit outside for a while and enjoy the hot weather but I just don’t feel in the mood. @Welshpugmomma I won’t be buying anymore either - I think it was a stupid panic but. I hoped it would say don’t worry everything is progressing great, you’re doing so well but the bastard didn’t perform that miracle.
