Hi all,

Am about to start my Clomid journey and reading through the 2018 Clomid thread this is what I'm looking for. It's extremely difficult to talk about the issues with people who don't actually understand them so if anyone wants to join in the more the merrier!

I'm 30
TTC #1
Cycle #?? Been trying for 5 years
Have mild Prolactinoma
Taking daily 1mg Bromocriptine for tumour
Just been given 3 months of Clomid
Am also slightly overweight but have never ovulated.

Smile

I tried calling the Access to Health records people and they've sent me a big long form to fill out which I have to get witness statement for and scan and send back to them, which seems excessive for blood test results. So it ang back and spoke to the secretary who said my results would be discussed at my next appointment - which is on Novemeber! So I cried (I didnt mean to, it just happened) and said that was unfair to expect me to wait that long, and she said she'd take my details and try to get my consultant to call me back.

Am I wrong in assuming this means there is something wrong? In the past when I've rung my docs surgery, the receptionist have just told me if everything fine. I know hospitals work differently, but the secretary looked my results up and then said she wasnt medically qualified to tell me the results, which just made me think 'something is wrong'.

Dinosauraddict · 21/06/2019 12:13

@Pinktruffle whenever I've had 21 day blood tests it's been a no ovulation result, and the secretaries have never been allowed to tell me (one did once, in quite a bad way, but we'll gloss over that). It could very well mean you've had an anovulatory cycle, but may mean absolutely nothing (perhaps secretary is new? Perhaps she has been told off for revealing something before?)

Pinktruffle · 21/06/2019 16:03

That's the news I'm dreading as I'm on maximum dosage now so IVF is my o ly option.

I've always ovulated naturally and even got pregnant naturally when I had my miscarriage. This is all so confusing. I rang a private ultrasound place this afternoon, I'm going to see if I can book in scans for next month as I can't see the NHS getting back to me any time soon. I'm going to ask for access to my medical records but that will take time and I'm not sure I'll be able to interpret them when I do get them.

Dinosauraddict · 21/06/2019 16:38

@Pinktruffle my understanding is that even with 'normal' women who have no fertility problems, then an occasional anovulatory is normal. If you're at the max dosage, it doesn't mean it won't work next month? (And you don't know if it has/hasn't this month yet, so don't panic.) UnMNy hugs!

Pinktruffle · 21/06/2019 18:55

Thanks @Dinosauraddict. I ended up calling my sister who is always my voice of reason. She said that the secretary at the GPs surgery once told her that they can only tell the results if there is a typed letter or doctors analysis on the system, if it's just the numerical data they have to say they can't interpret it, so chances are that's what she had and it doesn't necessarily mean there is a problem.

I'm still going to schedule in some private ultrasound scans though, I don't want to be second guessing myself all next month.

That's great news @Dinosauraddict

Sorry to hear you're having trouble getting results @Pinktruffle I feel like I'm forever chasing results and getting nowhere fast.

We had our IVF initial consultation yesterday and it went fairly well. There's a bit of a question mark over my DH's most recent semen analysis as it wasn't good but the previous two were fine. They were about 4 years ago though. The consultant has said we need a re-test, which well do a week Monday, the same day as our treatment consultation. If it's ok then we start IVF next cycle. If not, there'll be a delay of about 3-4 months Sad. Really hoping it was just a one off dodgy batch! He's told us which supplements to take in the meantime so off to buy them today.

Dinosauraddict · 22/06/2019 10:11

Good luck for the SA @Marmite83!

Pinktruffle · 22/06/2019 10:19

@Marmite83 the good news there is that mens sperm issues seem to be easier to sort out than female fertility issues so hopefully, some supplements and he'll be sorted - well hopefully, it was a dodgy batch but if not, dont worry too much.

Best of luck with it all, I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you x

Marmite83 · 22/06/2019 10:28

Thanks @Dinosauraddict and @Pinktruffle. I think now we've decided to do IVF I just want to get on with it. Thought all the problems were to do with my endo and PCOS but possibly not. Fingers crossed it was just a dodgy batch!

Dinosauraddict · 22/06/2019 10:36

@Marmite83 this infertility malarkey really is an emotional rollercoaster isn't it!!

Explorers10 · 22/06/2019 11:03

@Dinosauraddict that’s amazing the follicle grew so much, good luck this weekend, hope it works for you.

@Marmite83 hope the sperm analysis comes back ok. Good luck with the IVF, hope you can proceed as soon as possible.

@Pinktruffle sorry to hear about the trouble you had not knowing about your results. I hope you can get some answers before November. That’s seems too far away

Dinosauraddict · 22/06/2019 11:06

Thanks @Explorers10 it's slightly annoying that we have a house full of people staying tonight, but that's their problem not mine I've decided lol Wink

Pinktruffle · 22/06/2019 18:14

I've just realised, I'm on CD30, no AF yet. My non-medicated cycle sees my period starting on CD33 so I'm not going to test yet though.

Dinosauraddict · 23/06/2019 01:08

Eek @Pinktruffle - I have everything crossed for you!

Marmite83 · 23/06/2019 08:24

Hope af stays away for you @Pinktruffle

doomkittycleo · 23/06/2019 08:41

Hi all, sorry I’ve been missing in action the past few days, we’ve been on a holiday to Devon in my parents caravan (attempt at distraction during the tww).

I’m now 11dpo based on fertility friend and my temps (although never got a positive opk as I apparently ovulated on CD9 before I started testing).

I’m feeling extremely normal, but my temps are still high. Hoping to hold out a few more days to test.

If af arrives on Thursday I’ll give the private clinic a call and ask for a consultation.

Explorers10 · 23/06/2019 10:41

I will be leaving the thread. I found out just before starting clomid that I’m pregnant. Wanted to wish best of luck to all of you & hope you get your BFPs soon.

doomkittycleo · 23/06/2019 11:07

Lots of stomach cramps and spotting so far today so think AF has arrived. Another month of failure
