Hi all,

Am about to start my Clomid journey and reading through the 2018 Clomid thread this is what I'm looking for. It's extremely difficult to talk about the issues with people who don't actually understand them so if anyone wants to join in the more the merrier!

I'm 30
TTC #1
Cycle #?? Been trying for 5 years
Have mild Prolactinoma
Taking daily 1mg Bromocriptine for tumour
Just been given 3 months of Clomid
Am also slightly overweight but have never ovulated.

Smile

@Mol5 well done on the weight loss! I'm tracking ovulation using clear blue. I can't really afford ovusense.

Hi all,

I will look up this ovusense, never heard of it. Tomorrow going for second scan after Clomid, fist scan showed nothing is happening.

Marmite83 · 07/03/2019 23:13

Fingers crossed for you tomorrow @Eleonor15

Ovusense looks interesting but it is very expensive. Since we dtd every other day anyway I'm not sure we'd benefit from it. Think I'm probably better off saving the money towards IVF

Has anyone ovulated on their first cycle of clomid but not their second? I'm worried I haven't this cycle. Meant to get CD21 progesterone but I don't know when I should go because I'm not sure I have o'd!

I found the symptoms of the tablets less severe this cycle, hopefully they will diminish for everyone the longer they take it.

@FrostedSnowdrops I worry about this too. I used opks this cycle (cycle 2 for me) and did get a positive, which was reassuring as I didn't get any positives when I wasn't ovulating. I know it's not a certainty that it means I ovulated but it is some reassurance!

How did the scan go @eleonor?

Hi All, would love to join.

I'm 35
TTC #2
Cycle - Been trying for 5 years. Had one loss 3 years ago when I was barely pregnant.

I have mild pcos and am trying to make diet changes and lose 5 kilos (though technically not overweight, I feel too big). No issues with dh sperm.
I've been having Ovidrel the last few cycles and have had 1 good follicle each cycle (no clomid). Good progesterone, lining is great.

I've been scared to try clomid because I've read about the side effects and over stimulation. I'm going to take it this month though.
If it doesn't get me pregnant then we're having a lap and then ivf.

@Marmite83 thank you for asking! It is much better, the lady who was doing scan said there is positive improvement and my egg is 16mm now, so I should ovulate soon. But I cant go to scan on Monday (so hard to get off work every time) and will go on Wednesday morning to see if I have ovulated. Been advised to have sex every day from Monday until the scan.
So happy today, relieved) at least I know it is working. Smile

Hey everyone!

Welcome to all the new posters! Sorry not bee on - work has been manic this week and been having crazy cramps - due on tomorrow so I can finally start taking the clomid. Doctor has given me 30 tablets - 2 a day for the 2-6th day of cycle. Never thought I'd be so happy for her to arrive!

@SunnyL88 they said its big enough for it to appear on my MRI scan but not big enough to cause any other problems except the high prolactin! My first counts were 974 which is then what caused them to actually look for it! Jokers!

I need to lose approx 10kg's until they will fund me for IVF - it's taken them 3 years to actually find my tumour and admit there was a problem and sadly for me I'm a very emotional eater! I lose weight quite fast when put mind too it and have lost over 5 kg since January so far so i know its do-able I just need to get my butt into gear and now they have actually said they will do IVF for us it's got my motivation back.

How is everyone doing? Anyone on 100mg of clomid? Do I take both tablets at the same time at night or do I need to split them. From what I've read they only normally give 50mg so I'm a little in the dark.

Welcome @liamhemsworthsrealwife - love your name by the way! I was a little worried when clomid was mentioned at first but then I think I owe it to myself to give it a go and would rather fall with that then IVF. At least if it doesn't work we can at least say we've tried.

@Eleonor15 that's all sounding very positive! got everything crossed for you.

@Marmite83 how are you doing? IVF will be our only option as well if the clomid doesnt work. I've also got to book in for a 21 day blood - were not being scanned due to me being over weight they wont fund it so they just wont do it for us. How were the side effects for you in the end? Anything get any worse? When's your blood test? x

@NMC80 how are things?? More importantly how are you feeling?

@Willowjasmine - welcome! I was ready through the other thread and it seemed really helpful and positive and with this being such a negative part of our lives it's always better when there are the people who are going through the same thing with you. I'm constantly questioning whether or not I'm actually going to get pregnant. Been married for 3 years this year and get the 'when are you having babies' question every single time there is a family gathering. Husband always answers for me first because he knows I may karake chop them in the throat!

Also on a completely seperate note... do any of you guys seems to notice more babies and pregnant people the longer you're on your own TTC jounrey?! I certainly am! lol

The side effects definitely got less each day @Bear88. I had fairly painful cramps on the first day for the whole morning, the second day I felt hungover all day but by the third day I felt fairly ok. The occasional twinge and quite tired but that's pretty standard for me anyway. Weight isn't an issue for me luckily but I do have to pay for IVF so saving money in the hope we can get enough together to start IVF in a few months if the Clomid doesn't work out. Sorry to hear AF is on her way for you but it sounds like you're feeling quite positive about taking Clomid. I hope the side effects are mild for you.

I swear there are babies and bumps everywhere! I logged on to Facebook a couple of days ago and the first two posts were birth announcements and then another few posts down was a pregnancy post. So sick of people asking me if we think we'll have another child, I've started saying no because its easier than explaining.

@Marmite83 I'm glad they got better and not worse. Remind me are you on 50mg clomid? I'm thinking I'm just going to take both tablets at the same time in the evening - if i start splitting them I'm bound to forget timings! I never thought I would be in this position so I've never let my weight bother me. I'm a heathly UK size 14 with curves in the right places but to be called morbidly obese because I'm 5"4 and that they wouldn't fund anything - not even OH's sperm sample retest - is ridiculous and I refuse to be the reason we won't get any help when there's a medical reason - unrelated to my weight - for why I'm not ovulating so weight loss it is for me. I have until June when the lomid has ended and they refer us back to the fertility clinic and I will be under their magic number by then.

Tell mw about it! I had 1 birth annoucement and 1 pregnancy one, then I had a lot of bump pictures over FB and insta for womens day. I recently bought a new car and now just tell everyone thats my baby so they get the hint and stop asking lol! x

I'm on 50mg this cycle but will go up to 100mg next cycle if the 21 day progesterone test is negative. In the meantime I'm trying to do anything I can to improve our chances. I'm taking conception vitamins and Inofolic. My husband is banned from alcohol for the next 10ish days and is also taking conception vitamins. I'm also trying to increase my exercise each day and eat more healthily. I've been reading up on PCOS diet and have been trying to implement food swaps wherever possible. At least if I end up needing IVF I'll know I tried everything I could.

It's crazy that they won't do any tests for you just because you're a size 14! @Bear88

Report
Bear88 · 09/03/2019 22:35

@Marmite83 I know! It's so ridiculous - I can understand if I were bigger because it gives you a much better chance but I carry my weight strangely and weigh more. I see people in WW and Slimming World magazines that weigh less than me but seem to be size 18ish and I have never been able to understand why! If you go up will you take the 2 clomid tablets at the same time? I'm also taking vitamins and folic acid and drinking peppermint tea to keep my caffeine intact down which is hard! The fertility nurse even said I don't look like the number my BMI thing is on but that is what they go by :(
Also to not even retest my husband - who is perfect weight by the way - because I'm overweight is nothing short of completely frustrating! That's true though you can say you've done everything they've asked of you. Should be proud of yourself :) x

@Bear88 I think I need to ask for my hubby to be re-tested. They referred to his tests from 4 years ago but surely a lot could've changed by now. Have a feeling they'll say no until we're doing IVF and then we'll just have to pay for it Sad

Report
Bear88 · 09/03/2019 22:49

@Marmite83 - no harm in asking them seeing as your currently on the clomid train :) worse they can say is no. Hubby was sent for one and showed low amounts but then the fertility nurse said they would normally ask for them to do 2/3 so they can see if it was a one off etc and could've been low if he had a cold/virus so always do a few before confirming low counts. One thing we've learnt is that we need to constantly ask and ask for them to actually refer for anything. Think because of all the issues and all the timings is the only reason my doctor gave me clomid but I intend to do everything I can so I can tick all their boxes.

Hi all, read through the latest posts, so sad to hear about weight issues. I was mentioned this as well during referral to fertility. But I am size 10 (62 kg and 160 cm) and my bmi is ok, however, i do feel fat and overweight according to my personal standards. Still have to lose 5kg to feel better but stress from ttc and all medication just doesnt help to focus on the food.
What helps for me every time is calories counting. I have an app and log every meal and drink there. Helps to track food and think what I put in my mouth. Maybe this helps, girls.

Hi @Bear88, thanks for asking. I’m ok, still feeling fed up and frustrated. Having bad cramps over last couple of days. Still waiting for the results of my progesterone levels which should be back tomorrow. Going to take a test tomorrow morning as realised a tested way too early this week as I didn’t account for Febuary being a short month doh! The scan showed clomid is working but I guess it’s still a game of chance as to whether I catch or not even when an egg is released. Just a waiting game. How’re things with you? Xx

@Bear88 we are exactly the same! Married 4 years this year, and there are couples who got married after us announcing their pregnancies and having their babies. People say we are just hyperaware of all the pregnancy news, but it has definitely increased since we started trying. At least once a month I learn of a new baby!

At least your DH gets in there first when people make the comments. Mine is so bloody polite he just laughs it off while I get super defensive. I used to also laugh it off and say something about enjoying holidays etc, at the start of our ttc journey. But now I just get pissed off, last week someone in DHs family actually told me to "learn a few lessons from my sister" as she is pregnant. I couldn't keep my mouth shut and said it's nothing to do with you and none of your business because I was so upset!!!! Why do people say such thoughtless things? Problem is, the more dramatic my response, it probably makes it more obvious that we are trying and that there's a problem. So I really need to keep it under control 😂

@NMC80 did you get your results this morning? And have you tested yet? I'm doing ok thank you - supposed to come on yesterday but as of now I am still waiting for her to arrive! Angry always the way when you are wanting her to arrive she's late! Although it's really strange as my bromocriptine usually makes me bang on 28/29 days and am currently on day 31. Need her to come so I can start my Clomid! Husband keeps saying maybe it's happened naturally but I just cant bring myself to even believe a little bit that I've ovulated when for the past 4 years of testing it's always been a no to releasing an egg. Typical! Xx

@Willowjasmine I've had my moments of snapping at people mind so don't be too hard on yourself! Unless they've gone through the same thing people just don't understand how exhausting it is both mentally and physically do they. Think I'll pee on a stick in the morning to confirm I'm not and then just wait for her to patiently arrive Haha
