Hi all,

Am about to start my Clomid journey and reading through the 2018 Clomid thread this is what I'm looking for. It's extremely difficult to talk about the issues with people who don't actually understand them so if anyone wants to join in the more the merrier!

I'm 30
TTC #1
Cycle #?? Been trying for 5 years
Have mild Prolactinoma
Taking daily 1mg Bromocriptine for tumour
Just been given 3 months of Clomid
Am also slightly overweight but have never ovulated.

Smile

Ladies just a quick q - so I’m in CD19 now..don’t have any symptoms or anything just still trying and hoping... however the only thing I’ve noticed since trigger shot is hot flushes (can get annoying when ur in a meeting at work and sweating!) did anyone else have this ?

Pinktruffle · 19/06/2019 20:50

Sorry @zara84 I've never had a trigger shot, but I seem to be having lots of hot flushes generally on the tablets

Everytimeiseeher · 19/06/2019 21:13

I haven’t gone private yet, just fertility clinic at local hospital. Has anyone paid for clomid privately? If so how much was it?

Dinosauraddict · 19/06/2019 21:33

@Zara84 I'm the same as @Pinktruffle - haven't had a trigger shot yet but getting hot flushes on the clomid.

@Everytimeiseeher - I pay £525 per cycle for clomid and full monitoring (baseline scan plus follicle tracking scan and consultations every day from day 10, 21 day blood test etc)

Zara84 · 19/06/2019 21:33

Thanks pinktruffle I wonder if it is the Clomid maybe it stays in the system for longer than the few days we take it...?
Currently sitting with the fan on and yes it is warm for London today but not that warm!

Dinosauraddict · 19/06/2019 21:34

@Zara84 it definitely stays in your system longer than you take it!

Pinktruffle · 19/06/2019 21:36

I can feel AF coming.m I have all my symptoms but it's horrible when you have that twitching in your uterus that you know is AF and you are just hoping and praying that you are feeling it wrong even though you know you aren't 😕

Zara84 · 19/06/2019 21:37

Dinosauraddict- must be the Clomid then!
Hope your feeling okay about everything.. I have good and bad days still I started using opks but they weren’t showing anything positive so decided to stop as it was just stressing me out so much! Took a opk yesterday though and it looked okay-ish maybe a positive but maybe not ... just going to watch Netflix and not worry about it too much( or try not to)!

Zara84 · 19/06/2019 21:38

Pinktruffle what cycle day are you on - I too have been getting some slight twitching was worried it may be af also :(

Pinktruffle · 19/06/2019 21:57

I'm on CD27. My cycles are usually 33 days but I've been put on a higher dose this month with idea it will speed my cycle up so it's probably AF.

Jesskir89 · 19/06/2019 22:06

Keep optimistic ladies were due another pregnancy story on here soon :) I know it's hard I'm just coming off AF, my 30th in 4 weeks and feeling low but you never know!

AmyMaria2 · 20/06/2019 02:55

@Zara84 I am the same, hot flushes just with the tablets, it definitely stays in your system for longer than you're actually taking the tablets!

@Dinosauraddict May I ask where you're from, or why you have to pay for the scans/monitoring etc? I am having all you mentioned on nhs, sorry don't know your situation fully, maybe it's area difference, I would definitely be paying like you are if I had to though.

Feeling positive this month, 3rd round of clomid and maybe too optimistic but the successful stories I've seen/read have been mainly round 3, DP was talking about baby names earlier and he's not usually as crazy about it all as meHmm

Dinosauraddict · 20/06/2019 07:51

@AmyMaria2 - it's a complete postcode lottery with monitoring, very few NHS areas provide full monitoring on clomid, some provide one scan, some just allow a 21 day blood test, and some will only fund that for cycle 1. Personally I went private anyway due to timescales, we knew what was wrong fertility wise and GP agreed clomid was best next step, but it can only be prescribed by a consultant in my area (apparently in some areas GPs can prescribe). I was referred but the NHS consultant appointment kept being postponed by the hospital for no reason. I lost patience and for my sanity went private!

Pinktruffle · 20/06/2019 10:30

I wish I'd gone private sometimes @Dinosauraddict, not having scans really bothers me.

Is anyone else finding that the tablets mess with their sleep? I sleep at a normal time, have no trouble falling asleep but wake up around 3am and then toss on turn for the rest of the night until may alarm goes off. I'm exhausted during the day. I'm not sure of it's the tablets or just me?

Zara84 · 20/06/2019 11:18

Dinosauraddict I’m same - have to pay for the scans. I just gave up on NHS they refused me thyroid medication for ages then when I went private for that and quickly got medication And all is now stablised in that area. I then started to talk to them about fertility and they started telling me my weight (marginally overweight) was the issue and after losing some weight they said it was probably my thyroid ( which now was optimal level thanks to private treatment) : they then told me I wasn’t trying enough and just kept giving me blood work on blood work - awful experience. I decided to go private and it was the best thing for me (we made the choice of spending on this over a holiday ) the consultant made clear weight was not an issue at all, and that medically there is no issue (that we know of) we’ve had blood work, HSG, lap dye, numerous scans and nothing found. Which is why we are now on Clomid.....it does annoy me sometimes and worry me that we are spending all this money privately and I know some friends who are having similar tests on NHS but I guess it saves me the anxiety...

Dinosauraddict · 20/06/2019 12:08

@Zara84 - I completely know how you feel. The NHS was just one thing after another, often multiple times! (I had to have 3 separate tests to confirm I didn't have chlamydia- I've never had it in my life). So frustrating. I do hate how much everything costs, but right now it's my number one priority so might as well be my financial priority too I guess...

Zara84 · 20/06/2019 19:27

Yep - hopefully will all pay off in the end...

Quick question : how often on Clomid / after trigger did your doctor tell u to BD? I’ve tried every day since trigger and really can’t be bothered today lol - it’s been 6 days In a row so I think that should be enough right ?

Dinosauraddict · 20/06/2019 20:32

@Zara84 - mine keeps saying we need to BD every day for 3 days after trigger, so I think you'd be fine to have a night off now! Grin

Zara84 · 20/06/2019 21:14

Dinosauraddict definitely will! It’s become a bit of a chore ! But think we are done for this cycle now lol fingers crossed we’l see what happens but not holding my breath as did get some dull aches a day or so ago so af might be coming soon...

Samosaurus · 20/06/2019 22:04

Could I join in please? I got pregnant in May after my first round of clomid (and thought it was too good to be true) and had a scan at 7 weeks that showed a good heartbeat, but yesterday found out things had ended a couple of days ago. I'm now wondering if the Clomid caused a 'bad' egg to be released which was then fertilised. Any one have any thoughts? Thank you!

Jesskir89 · 20/06/2019 22:54

@samosaurus I'm so sorry to hear that. I'm not sure about the bad egg question tbh but it's possible as you have bad eggs when you go for ivf. Hope you're ok

Dinosauraddict · 21/06/2019 05:39

Welcome @Samosaurus, and sorry for your loss.

Pinktruffle · 21/06/2019 10:11

@samosauras I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. Sending you love x

I've just rung my fertility docs secretary for my 21 day blood test results and she said she wasn't medically qualified to tell me which must mean there is a problem as they usually just say they are fine 🙈
I've been told to email a request in to the access team for a response which I have done it I can't see them getting back to me today.... it's going to be a long weekend 😥

Pinktruffle · 21/06/2019 10:30

*but I can't see them getting back to me today

Dinosauraddict · 21/06/2019 10:52

@Pinktruffle - hope they get back to you soon!

I've just had my first positive appointment in a while. My follicle was at 14mm on cd15. Now, on cd 17 it's got to 19mm! Yay! So they've given me trigger injection this morning. BD'ing for the next 3 days!
