Hi there,

Anyone else doing IVF this month? I’ve had 2 weeks of Buserelin, and just started the oestrogen tablets today. I’ve never known time to go so slowly before. 😬😂

FET planned for end of August.

I’ve been a hormonal wreck. Got AF this weekend, plus all the extra hormones, and the other half doesn’t know what to do with me - or himself! Ha Ha.

Would be nice to connect with others going through IVF at the moment. x

Hi @Cariad2017 i was young and pretty unaware so just realised my period was late by 3 days and thought I'd better do a test! Came up immediately on a digital at about 5pm and I've no idea if I'd held my urine or not! I had no idea how to take a test in those days 😂

I guess I'll carry on thinking about when I'll take this test! Thanks for your thoughts, I appreciate it x

snowfee · 14/09/2018 22:46

@Botanica the 2 embryos they transferred were really good quality and the clinic said ultimately its best for them to continue to develop in me. They are watching the remaining 3 to see if they get to the blast stage to then freeze.
I didn't get a choose about waiting though.

IVFaugust2018 · 15/09/2018 09:24

Extremely vivid dreams last night, mainly centred around taking pregnancy tests and getting really clear positives straight away - pretty horrible to wake up from 😭

Cariad2017 · 15/09/2018 10:52

Snap! IVFAugust. I dreamt about getting a BFP last night as well. I got these sorts of dreams a lot in the time we spent ttc DS and they were never particularly reliable indicators of pregnancy unfortunately. Still pretty symptomless at this end but will test tomorrow to put myself out of my misery as I’m struggling to think of much else at the moment, plus not being able to swim/ sunbathe/ jump in the hot tub whilst on holiday for fear of infection/ altering the body’s core temperature is proving a bit much, particularly if I’m destined for a BFN...

IVFaugust2018 · 15/09/2018 11:06

Hi @Cariad2017 I get these dreams a fair amount too - usually when I've decided I'm going to do a test so I'm under no illusion that it's anything to do with being pregnant or not. No symptoms here either other than tiredness but that's a side effect of the progesterone as much as it could also be me dreaming all night!
Best of luck with taking the test - I know knowing the result doesn't change it but still crossing everything for you 🍀🤞

Thund4rcat · 15/09/2018 11:34

Just done my transfer, of a 4BB which they said was good but of course I googled and now feel not so good about it.

Got 3 in the freezer which I am pleased about.

Also I asked the nurse if it was ok for me to take baths and she said it was totally fine, and was annoyed that another nurse had told me (apparently wrongly) not to take baths between EC and ET! So I could have been having baths all week!

IVFaugust2018 · 15/09/2018 11:43

Hey @Thund4rcat snap I had a 4BB transferred which they said was a top quality one - it's hard to understand what they mean by it all which is why they don't say unless we ask. Ultimately just keep in your mind that if the embryo's going to survive then it will. I wasn't told about baths and did in between EC and ET but haven't since - they say pineapple core is good for implantation? Don't know if that's true!

Best of luck for the 2WW 🍀🍀 what's the date you've been given to test? X

Cariad2017 · 15/09/2018 16:30

Good work on the transfer Thund4Cat. To have so many Frosties from 8 fertilised eggs is brilliant news as well.

I’d try not to focus too much on the embryo grading. I had a 5BB embryo transferred with a 3BB as back up in the freezer, and had similar concerns about quality. BUT from all the research I’ve done over the past week or so two things are clear: embryo grading doesn’t tell you whether the embryo is chromosomally normal, so even top graded (6AA embryos) could be chromosomally abnormal and destined not to stick; and male embryos typically develop faster than female ones so a 5 or a 6 (I.e. hatched or hatching blastocyst) is much more likely to be male than female whereas a 3 is much more likely to be female. If an embryo is good enough to be frozen, then it has a decent shot at getting you pregnant, which is good enough for me.

Thank you for the good wishes IVFAugust. Part of me doesn’t want to test tomorrow, as I know how hard it will hit me if it’s a BFN, but on the other hand, having a week to pull myself back together before I go back to work, at the end of our holiday is probably better than waiting some extra days and having less time to process it all.

Thund4rcat · 15/09/2018 17:29

@IVFAugust2018 thanks! 27th September is my OTD. I plan on waiting till then but who knows if I will cave!

When is yours? I have lost track now, so many posts!

Thund4rcat · 15/09/2018 17:31

@cariad2017 thanks for all the advice, you've clearly done a lot of research!

Good luck for your test.

IVFaugust2018 · 15/09/2018 17:42

Hi @Thund4rcat mines the 23rd so same as you I think, 13dp5dt. Most people seem to have sooner dates so I can't make my mind up whether to test early or not so I'll see how I go next week I think. Have lots of rest and be kind to yourself - I've barely lifted a finger since Monday which is genuinely very unusual!

Thanks for the info @Cariad2017 I was too upset to really look into it in too much detail once I was told 4BB and I'm trying really hard to keep in a positive mindset so stopped looking for info - what you've said has put my mind a bit more at ease 🙏 very much appreciated xx

Cariad2017 · 16/09/2018 04:52

So despite spending the past 20 minutes furiously googling how long it takes a HCG trigger shot to leave the body, I think I might be pregnant. Got a “Pregnant 1-2” on a Clearblue Digi earlier this morning (Greek time) and I’ve been unable to sleep ever since.

I didn’t take a huge dose of the trigger shot, and am fairly confident the manufacturer’s instructions (which I’ve long since discarded) said it should be out of the body within 10 days (in my case, last Wednesday).

I’ll test again on my OTD (which is Tuesday). Thankfully, for my own sanity, I only have 3 more tests on me and they’re all digis, so there seems to be no point in testing again before then. Mindful that this is only the first of a huge number of hurdles that need to be overcome, and I know as well as anyone (having suffered two early losses whilst ttc DS) that a BFP doesn’t guarantee a take home baby, but at least this is a start.

IVFaugust2018 · 16/09/2018 07:34

That's amazing news @Cariad2017!!! I'm so happy for you, at least you know now that you're staying out of the swimming pool for a very good reason 😂 Have a great rest of your holiday and best of luck for the OTD xxxx

CatRen27 · 16/09/2018 08:50

Ohhhh cariad that's sooooo exciting! Keep us posted, bfp on a digi is pretty convincing! 💐💐

Cariad2017 · 16/09/2018 08:52

Thank you CatRen and IVFAugust. I seem to be getting progressively more nervous by the hour about whether or not it will stick, but there’s little I can do now other than hope. Xxx

PostiveThinkingRainbow · 16/09/2018 09:47

Hi Ladies, sorry I've been quiet have just been on boring bed rest and going in for scans for the bloody OHSS.
Starting to feel a little more human today, the clinic want me on bed rest and have signed me off for next week. I'm going in for another scan tomoz, weds and Friday. I've told work I will be off on Monday but really hope I don't need any longer as it's hard to explain!

Had our finally results in for our embryos that are now frozen. We got 4 in total, 1x4aa 1x3bb and 2x"Early" not really sure what those gradings mean.
How's everyone else doing?

@cariad2017 that's amazing news, constitutions. Are you on holiday at the moment? Xxx

Cariad2017 · 16/09/2018 11:08

Positive - Sorry to hear you’ve been so unwell but it sounds positive that the clinic are monitoring you so closely, and I’m glad you’re starting to feel more human. To have 4 blasts that are good enough to freeze is brilliant news. Wishing you a super speedy recovery. Hopefully your FET will come along in no time.

Cariad2017 · 16/09/2018 11:13

Positive - Yes, I’m on holiday. We booked this trip (our one family jaunt abroad of the year, yonks ago), and I hadn’t really bargained how long my cycle would end up taking (particularly as I spent much longer down regging and then stimming than anticipated), but luckily we managed to fit in ET the day before going away. Being in the 2ww whilst on holiday hasn’t been ideal but at least I’ve had plenty of time to rest.

IVFaugust2018 · 18/09/2018 08:06

Morning all, hope everyone's okay and coping? I've been watching the TWW thread and have decided not to test until my OTD, the stress and heartache on there is palpable even if it's a positive result let alone negative so I'm just going to wait and what will be will be. I've absolutely no symptoms since Friday, even in a normal month my breasts feel sore after ovulation and they aren't so I'm pretty sure this time hasn't worked for us. I'm distracting myself now by researching how I'll make the next cycle more likely to work 😂

@Cariad2017 I hope you're relaxing and enjoying the family time

@PostiveThinkingRainbow how are you feeling? Great news about your embryos, any idea when you'll be ready for a FET?

@Thund4rcat and @snowfee How are you both doing?

@CatRen27 where are you up to now?

CatRen27 · 18/09/2018 08:22

Wow ivfaugust that is some strong willpower you have there!! Fingers soooo crossed for you.

Where am i, you ask? I'm on cd18 and stillllllllll waiting to ovulate. 😫😫 Daily blood tests are making me feel like a pin cushion! My lh and estrogen levels are rising now from yesterday so that's at least encouraging. So maybe a transfer in a week? Definitely not banking on it though.

snowfee · 18/09/2018 08:30

@IVFaugust2018 I'm doing ok, 4dp2dt so still a long way to wait. Had some period like cramps in the night and every time I go to the toilet I'm checking for blood and praying there is none.

IVFaugust2018 · 18/09/2018 09:34

@CatRen27 it's sooooo frustrating isn't it! EXACTLY the same thing happened to me waiting to start this cycle, I ovulated on day 19 I think 😱 never happened that late before - whyyyyyyyyyy??!!

Anyway, it's not will power preventing me from peeing on a stick, it's pure unadulterated fear. If I thought it might be positive I'd do it now 😂

@snowfee I get it, I'm the same - although I understand if you're on progesterone it will prevent a period from starting? (Doesn't stop me from repeatedly checking though!)

snowfee · 18/09/2018 10:32

@IVFaugust2018 oh I didn't know about that regarding progesterone. I've avoided doing too much research to avoid freaking myself out. I accidentally looked into the risks of multiple pregnancies when we were told about the double embryo transfer, that sent me into a panic!! Luckily the embryologist was really good and talked me through things to relieve my fears.

IVFaugust2018 · 18/09/2018 10:44

@snowfee I think I'm a natural cycle it's the drop in progesterone that starts the period but as we're having the pesseries it doesn't naturally happen? That being said, people do bleed so I'm still checking all the time!

CatRen27 · 18/09/2018 10:56

@ivfaug ohh bless you, I bet it's so utterly nerve wracking. Are you off work until your official test day?

I've had spotting again tonight (had it two nights ago), so hopefully this means things are happening down there.

I was enjoying some time off between contracts but just heard that my client has just won a huge project which I'm in as deputy team leader, so that's going to change the next month or so.. i think it was meant to include travel to south east Asia, so I'm not quite sure how that's going to fit in with treatment, whether or not it works out this cycle..! Ohhhh lordy.
