Hi there,

Anyone else doing IVF this month? I’ve had 2 weeks of Buserelin, and just started the oestrogen tablets today. I’ve never known time to go so slowly before. 😬😂

FET planned for end of August.

I’ve been a hormonal wreck. Got AF this weekend, plus all the extra hormones, and the other half doesn’t know what to do with me - or himself! Ha Ha.

Would be nice to connect with others going through IVF at the moment. x

Thanks @Cariad2017 same back to you, I've had a big think and I'm going to leave it until the 23rd to test as advised by the clinic. A positive test before then will cause me the same level of angst as a negative but without the next steps being provided by the clinic as they will be on the 23rd. I'm just going to have to have a word with myself and accept whatever happens. Fortunately my husband's the eternal realist and refuses to discuss the endless options I want to present to him until we actually have a result to discuss 😂 best of luck to you (and if you find a secret and magical way to pass time then please share!!) xxx

IVFaugust2018 · 11/09/2018 18:35

@Thund4rcat those are great stats and really similar to mine - we've ended up with 3 blasts from 9 fertilised with ICSI. Best of luck to you for the coming days, no calls are quite like the ones from the embryologist 😂🤞

Re your question, my husband and I have wondered that but I don't know the answer. If you google 'university Aberdeen IVF calculator' it will give you your chances once you've had your transfer. Mine for the current embryo is 46% I think but it goes to 63% when I include the cycle as a whole ie. the frozen ones as well. My consultant at the clinic prior to starting gave me 35%.

I don't know if the numbers make me feel better or worse. Ultimately I'm terrified of it not working as we all are, as is evidenced by the thread on the stupid things people say to those facing infertility! Nobody understands us like we understand each other ❤️

Thund4rcat · 11/09/2018 18:44

@IVFAugust2018 ah thanks, I just did the calculator and got about 39% if I get to day 5, but about 55% if I end up with any to freeze. Fingers crossed then. The calculator is super helpful. I like knowing the % to set my expectations.

Good luck passing time. I am currently quite addicted to the phone game Polytopia, which I find good to focus the mind on something meaningless. Don't know if that is your kind of thing tho!

Cariad2017 · 13/09/2018 10:10

How are you feeling today Thund4Cat? Any update on your embryos? Keeping everything crossed for you. Xxx

Thund4rcat · 13/09/2018 11:11

@cariad2017 I am much better today thanks. And just got the call that all 8 embryos are doing well, between 1- and 2+ (apparently 2+ is average) so that is great news! I'm hoping from these that there should be some left to freeze on Saturday.

How are you and how is everyone else doing?

IVFaugust2018 · 13/09/2018 12:29

Hi @Thund4rcat so glad you're feeling better! Really glad to know that all 8 are dividing well 🤞 great news you're on track for a day 5 transfer and really hope you get some in the freezer too xx

@Cariad2017 How's the wait treating you - google still your best friend? 😂 today I've been looking into the signs of implantation and what's best to eat! Xx

sophieb13 · 13/09/2018 15:59

Hi ladies I'm 9dp3dt and got the below this morning so hard not to get too excited x

Thund4rcat · 13/09/2018 16:07

@sophieb13 Wow! Congratulations!! So happy for you.

IVFaugust2018 · 13/09/2018 16:53

Congratulations @sophieb13 you must be over the moon! I'm currently 3dp5dt and driving myself mad waiting! Xx

sophieb13 · 13/09/2018 17:00

Thanks ladies, I am over the moon otd is Monday so just hoping it stays now xx

sophieb13 · 13/09/2018 17:00

@IVFaugust2018 how I made it to today without testing I don't know l! You really do feel crazy ha xx

Cariad2017 · 13/09/2018 17:21

That’s wonderful news and supremely exciting Sophieb13. You have done amazingly not to test until now!

That’s fab news on your embryos Thund4rCat. Wishing you lots of luck for Saturday. 🍀🍀🍀🍀

Struggling somewhat at this end. I’ve had lots of cramping and felt really tired the past few days which I took as a positive but today I feel a lot more normal which has me worried that it’s all over... Thinking I might test on Sunday (7dp5dt, which is the equivalent of 12dpo) as I got a BFP with DS at this stage, and the waiting is driving me utterly mad...

sophieb13 · 13/09/2018 17:39

@cariad I was so tired and had cramps up until today I have felt absolutely fine today apart from a few twinges xx

IVFaugust2018 · 13/09/2018 19:52

@Cariad2017 I'm sorry to hear you're struggling, I get it though. I'm twingy, achy, crampy and thighs are restless like they were when I was pregnant with my son (except it's obviously too early and I get these 'symptoms' most months). Plus it's really on and off, like that for a couple of hours and then nothing.

I'm swinging from believing I'm pregnant to being sure I'm a fool and it's failed and I'm going to be so disappointed and upset 🤯

Anyway, it will pass and we'll know soon 🙏🤞

snowfee · 14/09/2018 07:30

Ive been abit AWOL from the thread for a while but have scanned through the posts to get back up to speed with everyone's news.
I had egg collection on Wednesday and DH had his TESA the same day. Had 7 eggs collected, they couldn't get to 3 of the follicles though. Of the 7, 6 fertilised which we're chuffed about. Waiting on the call this morning to see whether they can transfer any today. They're talking of transferring 2 embryos.

Cariad2017 · 14/09/2018 10:27

To have 6 eggs fertilised out of 7 is brilliant news SnowFee. Do keep us posted as to how it goes with the transfer. Transferring two at this stage sounds eminently sensible to me.

CatRen27 · 14/09/2018 11:45

sophie that's amazing, congratulations!! Its a very clear line, hope its a very sticky bean 😁

cariad sorry you're concerned, i really hope its nothing. When are you likely to test do you think? Fingers and toes crossed for you

positive you got so many eggs, such great news, no wonder you were feeling rubbish. Hope you're getting through the week okay post EC.

Sorry I've been a bit absent too. Just had blood tests every second day, which is monotonous, and looking after dd / getting life admin sorted so very little to report! Hoping we don't have too long to wait although its always 5 days after they detect ov so that's tedious!

Hoping you're all really well xx

sophieb13 · 14/09/2018 12:27

@CatRen27 thank you!! I got a BFP on a digital this morning so feeling like I can really believe it's true now :) hope it's soon for you xx

snowfee · 14/09/2018 17:52

Transferred 2 embryos this afternoon so hitting the two week egg timer!
Got 3 more embryos still growing,
2 have grown too fast and at 7 cells, the other has grown with extra nucleui so just keeping watch.

Cariad2017 · 14/09/2018 18:27

Amazing news on the transfer SnowFee. I shall be keeping everything crossed for you.

CatRen - 2ww is driving me slowly mad. I’ve decided to test on Sunday (12dpo) as I got my BFP with DS then. Still worrying that the fact that I’m feeling a lot less tired than I was is a bad sign, but we’ll see...

IVFaugust2018 · 14/09/2018 18:29

Hi @snowfee so pleased to hear that egg collection went well and you now have two beautiful embryos on board! Welcome to the dreaded TWW 😭

@CatRen27 fingers crossed you ovulate soon and can have your transfer soon 🤞

@sophieb13 you must be so pleased!!! 💃🎉

@Cariad2017 how are you holding up today? I'm no longer having any cramping or twinging as of today, I obviously don't know what that means but it's hard not to believe it's bad! Xxx

IVFaugust2018 · 14/09/2018 18:32

@Cariad2017 was your son conceived by IVF? I'm back to thinking about whether I'm going to test early after making my decision to wait until the OTD of the 23rd as that will be 13dp5dt which seems a bit longer than most people wait? Arrrgh 😂

Botanica · 14/09/2018 19:19

Hi @snowfee, what were the factors in going for the early transfer rather than wait until day 5?

I am on cycle 4 and usually get a similar number of eggs so am interested in whether to go for an early transfer this time rather than risk no blasts developing...

Cariad2017 · 14/09/2018 20:17

IVFAugust - No. DS was a natural conception, and in fact was my third pregnancy (albeit that the other two failed early on) and I’ve always had a BFP at 12dpo when I have been pregnant, so am fairly sure that IVF is unlikely to change the time at which my body will register a BFP.

Cariad2017 · 14/09/2018 20:22

IVFAugust - When did you get your BFP with your son? I’d use that as a guide as to when to test. The vast majority of people will get BFPs by 14dpo (IVF or not). I can see that waiting an extra 4 days rules out any very early losses and makes sure that late implantation doesn’t cause a false negative, but if you’re the sort of person who got BFPs before AF was due previously, I doubt IVF will change that.
