Hi there,

Anyone else doing IVF this month? I’ve had 2 weeks of Buserelin, and just started the oestrogen tablets today. I’ve never known time to go so slowly before. 😬😂

FET planned for end of August.

I’ve been a hormonal wreck. Got AF this weekend, plus all the extra hormones, and the other half doesn’t know what to do with me - or himself! Ha Ha.

Would be nice to connect with others going through IVF at the moment. x

@ChocolateLab - super exciting! Will be great to have a buddy on the 2WW.

What is this app you’re using?

@IVFaugust2018 - do ittttt! We tried. Well, I jumped my other half. It was a no go for me, but fun trying anyway. 😜x

@Langpants is it bad that I've told him if he can keep it under 15 minutes then we can crack on! 🤣

Langpants · 06/08/2018 22:08

Wahahaha! @IVFaugust2018 - that cracked me up. Don’t forget legs in the air. 😂😂😂 Our poor men. 😜x

I’m new to all this so don’t know how to answer everyone individually so will just put it all here:
Yes I need to tell work. I don’t think they will have a policy though. It’s not a very big company.

My name is from OITNB. It’s not as good as the old series but sticking with it. Crazy eyes is the best!

I think I’ve decided not to tell my parents for the time being. I already feel like a failure that I haven’t given them a grandchild yet so don’t want the extra pressure.

My best friend knows so she is the person I have been talking about it with although she has a baby so doesn’t quite get what it’s like.

I have a feeling in my gut that the first cycle won’t work. I mean nothing has been straight forward or worked yet so why should this be any different.

IVFaugust2018 · 07/08/2018 08:55

@Crazyeyes3 if you put an @ at the beginning you can pick the username.

I'm rationalising this first cycle as likely to fail, but am trying to think about it in a positive way - they are going to work out how I respond to everything from this cycle so it not working isn't a complete disaster. Not sure how I'll spin it if the next one fails but I'll cross that bridge when I have to 🤞🙏

snowfee · 07/08/2018 13:19

Can I join?
We will be having ICSI, drugs are due to arrive tomorrow and I start buserelin injections on 16/8 with base line scan due 29/9 after which I'll start bemfola followed by menopur then egg collection week commencing 10th September.
DH needs to have TESA the same day as he has azoospermia.
Was feeling positive about it all but after reading some posts on Mumsnet I'm no starting to worry eggs and sperm won't fertilise.

IVFaugust2018 · 07/08/2018 21:41

Hi @snowfee it's so hard to stay positive isn't it! I keep getting a feeling of dread and terror that it won't work. I almost don't want to start this cycle so that I can stay here where it's still possibly going to be successful 😂

snowfee · 08/08/2018 09:46

@IVFaugust2018 exactly! If we don't start we can't fail! But by not starting we are already failing at the goal of having a family.

CatRen27 · 09/08/2018 04:28

Hi ladies can i join? Due to start our first round of ivf in the next week or so when my next cycle starts and I'm silently bricking it. Been ttc #2 for over 2.5 years and overall unexplained. I'm a pretty obsessive type and quite sure how I'll cope with the tww after the transfer..! Any tips to stay distracted? I work from home which doesn't bode well..

Fingers toes and tubes (😂) crossed for successful cycles all round

IVFaugust2018 · 11/08/2018 10:18

Hi @CatRen27 obsessive type here too! I'm planning on working through as much as I can as a distraction, but I have a very stressful job so worried about how that will impact!

I think I'll be starting the week after you depending on when my period arrives but as I'm on day 19 and still not ovulated, goodness knows when that will be 😭

Are you long/short protocol? What injections are you prescribed?

CatRen27 · 11/08/2018 10:40

Hi @ivfaugust eek what are we to do! I am due on any day from now but most likely Tuesday. I'm on cd25 but ovulated super early this month (cd12!) I think so I'm just watching and waiting.

I'll be on a short protocol, with gonal F from cd1 and then cetrotide from cd5. I haven't been shown how to do the injections yet but apparently that happens when i go in on cd1 for bloods and when i pick up the drugs. I'm kind of excited by it all really! They have offered us the option of an app to watch the embryos developing.. I'm not sure that's so good for my mental health..!

How are you feeling about it all? Is it your first cycle? Sorry if you've said that already

IVFaugust2018 · 11/08/2018 11:23

@CatRen27 yeah first cycle and short protocol too. TTC 3 years sept with MFI.

I'm terrified tbh, we've had 3 years of absolutely nothing every single month but kept going with the glimmer of hope that at the end we can be fixed by IVF. Now it's finally here, I can't bare to loose that hope 😭

I've got the session where were shown the injections on Friday and have been told that I'll be on Menopur 150.

Good luck this week - hope your period arrives as it's planned x

ChocolateLab · 12/08/2018 08:46

Hello @CatRen27 and @snowfee! Welcome.

I didn't have much to say when I was hanging around watching my temperatures go down during this week. But (finally!!) my period has just started in earnest so I will be booking in for my scan tomorrow. My clinic aren't open today which is a pain so not sure if they will scan me tomorrow or Tuesday. I am trying not to be too hopeful about getting started in case they look at my lining and find it isn't shedding well. I'm also trying not to think about my work diary and the meetings I might have to miss...

But I am also quite looking forward to getting all the drugs out of my fridge and bathroom!

Hope everyone is doing well on a rainy Sunday. x

IVFaugust2018 · 12/08/2018 09:42

Fingers crossed for the scan then @ChocolateLab, and hope the first injection is quick and painless!

I'm now on day 20 with no ovulation rise and given that I've no known fertility issues, I can only believe that my body is now working against me 🤦‍♀️

Thund4rcat · 14/08/2018 22:41

Hi all. I am on day 6 of Buserelin injections. Going to be having ICSI due to MFI.

Been trying for 18 months. I am 35 with suspected endometriosis but never had a laparoscopy and doctor said even if I do have endo, it doesn't reduce the chances of ICSI working. So investigation into that is on pause for now.

This is my first cycle, and am on NHS.

Baseline scan booked for 28 Aug so think I am similar dates to a couple of others on the thread.

Have told a few close friends but secretly from my OH, as my OH is very private and doesn't want people to know. But I decided I needed support from friends.

Luckily no symptoms from injections yet and after 2 days of making my OH do it I am now able to do it myself.

Crazyeyes3 · 15/08/2018 19:00

I start Buserelin on Saturday. Think I’m going to get DH to do it as I tried to do a practise one on myself and just couldn’t do it.

CatRen27 · 16/08/2018 00:12

@Thund4rcat exciting to be starting, and great news you don't have any side effects.

@Crazyeyes was it too painful or just difficult doing to yourself? Interested as i should be starting injections any day now.

My af has decided to stay away so i was supposed to start on Tuesday latest and now its Thursday (down under) without a peep. I've done several pg tests but bfns (obviously!) so pretty sure its my body messing with me. I'm so keen to get going , never wished for af as much as now.

snowfee · 16/08/2018 09:02

I started my buserelin injections today, DH did it for me, I was so nervous and kept backing out. S**t is getting real now! Need to "man" up and try and do it myself in the next couple of days. Crossing my fingers for no side effects or drastic mood swings. Does anyone know when they may hit? Not sure how many days it takes to get into the system.
My baseline scan is booked for 29/8 assuming AF arrives next week

CatRen27 · 16/08/2018 23:46

Sorry @snowfee i don't know, first timer here and I'm on a different treatment.

I'm starting my gonal f today or tomorrow depending on my blood results. I'm a bit anxious about the needles, but excited to get going! Eeeeek

snowfee · 17/08/2018 07:44

Well 2nd injection this morning, this one was a little painful both during and now after. DH thinks it was because he didn't have the needle all the way in at all times so that's a learning for us.

Thund4rcat · 17/08/2018 14:41

Is anybody else having a trial embryo transfer? I haven't been given a date for mine yet, NHS clinic not getting back to me, and I'm worried they've forgotten I need this according to the first doctor... Does anyone know if it has to happen a certain day of your cycle?

I'm already 8 days into Buserelin, AF expected today or tomorrow.

Cariad2017 · 17/08/2018 22:23

Hello all. Mind if I join? Like CatRen (hello again! Wink), we’re suffering from secondary infertility. We’ve been ttc since January 2016 without even a whiff of a BFP.

I’m on a long protocol. Started down regging using a synarel nasal spray on 24 July (day 21 of my last cycle), only for them to discover a cyst at my baseline scan 2 weeks later. I switched to Buserelin a week ago and although the cyst is still there, it no longer seems to be oozing oestrogen everywhere, so I’m starting stims tomorrow. My next scan is on Friday, 24th August.

Feeling relieved to finally be here, but after my disastrous baseline scan, I’m also slightly petrified that they’ll find next Friday that the cyst has gone berserk and end up cancelling it all.

Cariad2017 · 17/08/2018 22:24

Snowfee - I don’t seem to have had any obvious side effects from Buserelin, although I have a friend who suffered a 3 week long migraine whilst on it...

Cariad2017 · 17/08/2018 22:27

CatRen - Has your AF turned up yet? Sounds as though we might be cycle buddies (or very close to that at least!). 🚲 🚲

Jamahi · 17/08/2018 22:31

Hi all, anyone mind if I join?
I'm in the 2ww for my second FET after an unsuccessful first FET.
The first time I was so positive and 'felt' the baby inside me. This time I feel nothing. Has anyone been through this and can help me feel more positive?
