BFP after IVF: any other nervous ladies in need of a handhold?

wombats · 26/03/2018 06:51

I've had my BFP after our first FET and in a bit of a state analysing symptoms/lack of symptoms. Had two losses prior to starting IVF so really can't get my head round what might be normal or not. Clinic will scan me at six weeks, but that is two very long weeks away! Anyone else in a similar position? xxx

Yeah wombats! Thats a great number! Very happy for you.
Back to work tomorrow, hope week flies by uneventfully for everyone till the next scans! X

becky114 · 02/04/2018 19:51

@Decafplease I'm back to work tomorrow to Hun. Xxx

Decafplease · 03/04/2018 09:30

Another bleed last night. Waiting for a call back from the clinic. Hoping its the clexane(blood thinner) injections. But surely continuos bleeds cant be good for the embryo?

wombats · 03/04/2018 10:13

Oh decaf, this must be so worrying for you. Hope that you get a call back soon. Did they say anything about adjusting your medications? Sending a handhold to you xx

Hi wombats. Yes, ive been told to stay home & rest today, and stop the blood thinners. Back for a scan on Thursday. The doctors didnt seem to think it was that urgent, so i’m hoping that means its going to be ok. Lying on sofa watching crap tv and trying not to stress is now the plan for today. X

wombats · 03/04/2018 16:56

Good to have a bit of rest and sounds reassuring that the doctors weren't concerned. If you'd like something lighthearted to pass the time, I've found the "my dad wrote a porno" podcast hilarious, almost burst my bladder laughing! Still holding your hand until Thurs xx

OP posts:
DameSylvieKrin · 03/04/2018 19:02

Oh My Dad wrote a porno is the funniest thing I’ve ever listened too! I had to stop listening at work (using headphones I hasten to add) because I couldn’t control my laughter.

Hi ladies first day back at work today and a 12 hour shift 😴 been having loads of twinges in my uterus area today so not sure what that means? Been a little light headed at times to, anyone else had this?

Been away so just catching up. So sorry you’re having probs with bleeding decaf, what a stress. I hope it all turns out to be nothing to worry about. I’ve only had spotting but that is enough to set me worrying every time. I’m sure like me you’ve googled yourself nuts and found many stories of people bleeding and having healthy babies, so I really hope you are one of those Smile

Fantastic beta, Wombats - that sounds ace!

AFM, I’m already in bed at 9pm after feeling really sick most of the day. I feel like I’ve been gradually feeling more sick over the past week, which hopefully is good news, but it is also a bit rubbish too. I feel like an early night is the sensible thing, so hopefully I’ll have a good kip and feel fantastic vaguely human in the morning! Love to all!

Decafplease · 03/04/2018 22:42

Thanks wombats, i’ll download that! Anything to distract me.
Bleeding stopped now, thanks everyone for the support. Was really happy to start feeling nauseous again this evening- take it as positive sign of pregnancy. DH thinks i’m nuts!
becky i feel light headed after taking my progesterone tablets, though i’ve heard its possible to feel faint in early natural pregnancy too.
Love to all!

DameSylvieKrin · 04/04/2018 03:26

Hi Becky, I’ve had the twinges, which are apparently growing pains, and the lightheadedness, which is also normal. I’ve fainted a couple of times when getting up in the night but managed to sit back down on the bed in time, so take care of yourself! But I think both are good signs.

becky114 · 04/04/2018 07:18

Thanks guys, have a good, happy and healthy day everyone. I have another 12 hour shift ahead of me but the rest if the week off. No twinges today as of yet, I'm not happy unless I am feeling some sort of symptom, I want to feel sick!!!! Xxxx

I'm about to start stims in anticipation of my third egg collection.

I'm just on this thread to read other people's success stories to give me a bit of hope.

I've had 3 IUIs and numerous FETs with 3 miscarriages at around 10 weeks each time.

I'm looking forward to the stims but feeling quite down about the whole ttc journey too.

Good luck with all your pregnancies and I'm enjoying having a snoop and reading your stories Flowers

Bruges21 · 04/04/2018 09:50

Hello findingmyfeet. I'm so sorry to hear of your losses and the tough journey you've had. Lots of luck for this cycle.

Becky I agree I would find some more symptoms really reassuring! I'm 5+2 today, not really feeling anything except very anxious. Not helped by doing another CB digital test this morning which still shows 2-3 weeks. I know they're not very reliable but can't help but feel things aren't going well.

Decaf hope your bleeding has stopped today. Hi to everyone else too.

Decafplease · 04/04/2018 10:26

I’m another one that feels better when i’m feeling sick! bruges i only started feeling sick towards 6w, so maybe you arent there yet? finding so sorry to hear of your losses. Flowers There is a 3+ times lucky thead on here, which i found very supportive when going through my last cycle, perhaps check them out? Hope you, and the lovely ladies on there join us on this thread soon!
AFM no bleeds last night yeah! Scan tomorrow & i hope the little bean has hung on through it all. Back at work today, trying to find the least active things to do. My co-workers must wonder at my laziness!

wombats · 04/04/2018 18:45

Add me to the happier sick group! Almost wish I was getting sick as it'd be more reassuring.

Bruges, sorry you're having so much anxiety. I've not had much in the way of symptoms either, so hoping it's just early days. From what I've read, lots of women don't have MS and other symptoms until 6 weeks or after. Have you got a scan booked?

Becky how are you managing such long shifts? You must be shattered, poor thing. Has your work been supportive?

Dame, fainting sounds serious. Have you checked that with your clinic? I listened to the podcast on the tube and I'm sure everyone thought I was a loon, I was in tears!

Rational, hope you've had a good sleep and feeling a bit better rested.

Welcome feet and happy you're finding some positivity here. Sorry for your losses and good luck with your cycle.

Decaf, fab you haven't had any more bleeds. Fingers crossed for your scan tomorrow.

I'm 5+2 today, and my first miscarriage was 5+3, so feeling quite anxious today, especially before scan on Fri. With that miscarriage, my beta was only 12, so I'm hoping that my stronger number earlier this week is a good sign, but feel so nervous. Especially as my nausea has practically gone and my boobs have gotten a bit tender, hope that doesn't mean my hormones have dropped and we're going to lose this one too Sad

Sending positive thoughts to all xxx

@wombats good luck for Friday wombats 😘

Couple of things, I was exhausted last night and went bed super early, I woke up with a slitting headache and took some paracetamol and now I'm worried I shouldn't have taken paracetamol?????

Also did another test when I woke up and that lines got really dark so I'm happy with that!!!!! I have a blood test on Friday to confirm levels

Xxxx

TryingToStayRational · 05/04/2018 08:42

Hope you’re ok wombats. Try not to worry about not feeling sick - I know heaps of people who haven’t had any sickness at all and had healthy babies. My friend had a little girl at the weekend following IVF last year and she never felt sick at all and was super well throughout pregnancy. And 5 weeks is v early for sickness anyway. Good luck for your scan!

becky don’t worry, paracetamol is safe in pregnancy. Hope your head is feeling better!

decaf I hope your scan is reassuring today and all is well.

AFM I had a better day yesterday, had a little bit more energy. Still way below normal, but I think I just have to forget normal for now! Been sleeping an extra hour each night and still feel tired. Am so lucky that I can work from home if I want to and not have an hour commute each way - that has really helped. Got myself some fresh ginger and brewed it up with hot water, lime and honey. Think that helped as well. My boobs are so sensitive that I keep waking up in the night when I move position cos it feels like I’m being bashed in the nipples! Shock

Hope everyone has a good day with some sunshine. We had more snow yesterday and I’m so over that - need some spring!

Decafplease · 05/04/2018 13:15

Got my scan in an hour - feeling sick with anxiety!
becky paracetamol is safe, dont worry.
rational glad you feeling better
bruges can you ask for a beta to check numbers? Might give you some reassurance
wombats hope today passes uneventfully for you

Decafplease · 05/04/2018 13:22

dame sorry, didnt mean to leave you out, blame it on my scattered mind. Its crazy you had such bad inflammation, glad to hear it’s reducing.
Also karen, you havent posted much? All ok?

JessieMcJessie · 05/04/2018 13:31

Hello all. I just saw this in Active Threads and wanted to say that I understand exactly what you are all going through. My DS was conceived by IVF (our second round). He’s 19 months now but I still remember how those weeks to the 12 week scan were the longest and most stressful weeks of my life. You focus everything on the TWW then when you get the BFP there is that momentary elation followed by realising how fragile it all is. The 6 week early scan helped us believe it was possible, but my DH didn’t really allow himself to engage with the pregnancy till the 12 week one. Here’s hoping you all get there safe and sound x.

79Karen · 05/04/2018 13:48

Hi Decaf and everyone else. Not too much longer to wait now decaf hope it goes well. I’m just ticking along each day at a time, 5+1 today and this is probably the furthest I’ve got without any signs that something might not be right. I think a few symptoms are beginning to develop, had sore boobs for a while which comes and goes when it goes it’s still making me anxious but so far it’s always come back. Feeling tired a fair bit too. Nothing like nausea or anything yet. 2 weeks to go until my viability scan, never made it that far along before

79Karen · 05/04/2018 13:50

Also had my thyroid re-checked yesterday and my medication has been increased. Been told I have to have that checked every 4-6 weeks now. Anyone else on thyroid meds?

Decafplease · 05/04/2018 17:09

The little bean has stuck on! They will monitor me weekly for next couple of weeks just in case, but as of now, all good. 🤞
karen i am on thyroid meds too. Have to test every month.

TryingToStayRational · 05/04/2018 18:04

Great news, Decaf Smile
