BFP after IVF: any other nervous ladies in need of a handhold?

I've had my BFP after our first FET and in a bit of a state analysing symptoms/lack of symptoms. Had two losses prior to starting IVF so really can't get my head round what might be normal or not. Clinic will scan me at six weeks, but that is two very long weeks away! Anyone else in a similar position? xxx

@itonlytakesone thanks - I just googled and found a maternity self-referral form online for my hospital so I guess I will do that if the scan is okay. I had no idea that I'd be on so many drugs at this stage - the drugs aren't cheap either...!

ginandtonicformeplease · 11/08/2018 18:30

@cannonball8726 I'm another one who's on loads of meds still - after the BFP blood test they increased the cyclogest pessaries to 6 a day and I was already on 6 progynova a day. Apparently I have to keep taking them until 12 weeks.

I'm a bit confused about exercise too - during the 2WW they said yoga was fine (usually go at least 3 times a week) but after the BFP they told me only brisk walking until midwife says otherwise. I suspect that it's just to cover themselves but I really miss yoga and feel so unhealthy without it.

gingergnome · 12/08/2018 12:32

How’s everyone doing today?

@cannonball - wow, I thought my clinic were looking after me but they’ve got nothing on yours (which I think I’m quite grateful about - can’t imagine taking all that medicine!)
@ginandronic hmmm that does seem strict. Maybe it’s something to do with your individual medical situation? Perhaps call clinic and just double check with someone else - might just be one persons opinion? Unless you’re happy to wait for midwife of course.

Today’s post is brought to you by the sympom ‘one long hot flush’. Woke up at 5am unable to get back to sleep (this is now a thing for me 🙄) but also a bit overheated (not a temperature) and still flushed 7 hours later. Seriously, WTF?!
After yesterday’s aches and pains I’m seriously using all my will power not to run out and buy a pregnancy test. I also don’t seem bloated anymore. I’ve only got to make it until Thursday for my scan, how hard can it be ... 😬

Beherenow32 · 12/08/2018 15:02

@gingergnome that is a very long flush!!
I’m being very lazy again today... in bed, watching Netflix, eating snacks. Been feeling a little sicky today.

Finding it a little painful when i sneeze! And I sneeze everyday! 😣

Beherenow32 · 12/08/2018 15:19

@gingergnome and I’ve had lots of aches and pains.. was also less bloated yesterday. So, we’re in that together! Wish we could get scans every week... or day!! X

gingergnome · 12/08/2018 17:18

I know, right! Still going, flushing away. It’s just my head. Taken my temp several times and it’s fine 🤷‍♀️
Sounds like you’re having a lovely day! Except the sneezing - ouch! My sneezes aren’t painful but my whole abdomen feels tender and tight, so I definitely feel it when it happens.

Haha ‘The every week scan plan’ available now at your local IVF centre. It would sell like hot cakes!
TBH if I have one at 8 weeks (FX, got to get past the 6 week one yet!), (hopefully) get discharged into primary care, then have to wait 3+ weeks for the ‘12 week’ scan, I’m definitley booking at least one private scan in between! I’ve been so good not buying any hpt’s that it’s probably an equivalent amount of money judging by what people have said on here about the amount they’ve tested! 😁

cannonball8726 · 12/08/2018 17:52

@ginandtonicformeplease nice to see you here! How are you getting on? No yoga sounds really strict! I'm going to start going to yoga and Pilates again this week. Didn't go during 2WW.

@gingergnome that sounds like an impressive hot flush! Yeah the meds feel seriously OTT - not sure they are very evidence-based. But I'm so grateful to gotten a BFP- I have never even gotten that far before. So I'm prepared to just put myself in their hands. Even if it means putting up with the bum jabs!

@beherenow32 also get discomfort when I sneeze! Your day sounds like a perfect way to spend a grey Sunday x

ginandtonicformeplease · 13/08/2018 15:50

I've had my booking in appt - the midwife came to my house which was nice! Really nice, reassuring woman. Feels a bit more real now! I'm a bit confused though as my trust works on paper still, but my nearest hospital (we live rurally) is over the border in another county and they're paperless apparently and won't want to see any of the antenatal notes.

Also booked in for another scan next week. I just can't wait til 12 weeks!

Beherenow32 · 13/08/2018 16:09

@ginandtonicformeplease that’s so nice! My appointment was very clinical/ formal. Although, the midwife was nice.

My scan is tomorrow. Getting nervous!! But I still feel a little sick (sometimes a lot) and my belly is growing. There must be something happening in there!

Good we can all go through our scans together 😂

Itonlytakesone · 13/08/2018 20:05

@Beherenow32
Is your scan tomorrow the private one? Good luck! My private one is the end of August so nervous about mine too. Look at us all booking more scans we are so paranoid😂.

I'm having difficulties with food aversions to a lot of foods i usually eat and craving sweet foods, is anyone else experiencing this? I look at foods and think 'oh no way could i eat that yuk!' It's making it so hard to plan my meals! Confused

Beherenow32 · 13/08/2018 20:19

@Itonlytakesone yes it’s private... so glad that I booked it now.
I’m also having food aversions... when I think about creamy pasta... and I’m off vegetables (I was always quite healthy eating).
Not really any cravings just now. But I HAVE to have a cup of decaffinated tea (not normal tea - tastes disgusting)... first thing and throughout the day. Helps settle my tummy 😂
Are you managing to eat quite healthy? I’m relying on my vitamins for some help there...

Can’t wait until tomorrow is done. Hoping it helps me to relax more.

Itonlytakesone · 13/08/2018 21:10

@Beherenow32
No I'm struggling with the healthy eating it's a real chore and I'm normally healthy most of the time. I'm forcing vegetables down me 😞.

I was reading (stupid google) and I'm now worried about the heart rate recorded the other day at 7+6 it was 120bpm. The sonographer said it was strong and foetus was healthy so I thought nothing of it, but now I've Googled I'm worried sick! Glad I'm having a further scan maybe it will put my mind at rest.

ginandtonicformeplease · 13/08/2018 23:13

@Itonlytakesone Step away from Google! On the odd occasion I've given in and googled something I've just got really upset and thought the worst. Now I try and restrain myself.

@Beherenow32 I've always loved coffee but even a cup of decaf turns my stomach in the morning. Apart from nausea in the morning (and some pretty appalling wind Blush) I haven't really got any pregnancy symptoms which does make me worry sometimes. Hopefully my scan next week will help!

Beherenow32 · 14/08/2018 07:12

@Itonlytakesone yeah I force myself to eat fruit. Please don’t google! The doctor didn’t tell me our heart rate... so no clue about that.

@ginandtonicformeplease symptoms seem to come in waves. It’s not what I expected at all. This morning I feel like I have to worse hangover. I’m not out bed yet and start in 30 mins 👍

Will let you know how scan goes xx

gingergnome · 14/08/2018 07:30

Morning everyone!

So glad your midwife appointment went well @ginandtonicformeplease

Gosh @beherenow I hope I never go off tea! Managed to get down to 1/2 a cup caffeinated a day and the rest are decaf.
Good luck for your scan today!

Easy to say, hard to do, but @itonlytalesone I’m pretty sure the sonographer knows more about your personal pregnancy than Google: step away from the computer!! A really strong heart beat at >7wks is super news. You’re doing a great job growing that baby!

AFM, now 5+4, the scanxiety has been bad with me recently and then yesterday, and so far today, no symptoms at all. I even managed to sleep though the night (toilet break excused), with no vivid dreams, for the first time in a week. After all the pulling, pinching, aches and pains of recent past I am now quietly resigned to the fact that when we go for our scan on Thur there won’t be a baby 😢
I hopped over to the Ante-natal due in April board to have a peek. So much blind optimism - it’s like a different world. Totally alien to me.

Sorry, don’t mean to be a downer for anyone else just needed to have a little vent of my worries 🙂

Itonlytakesone · 14/08/2018 09:59

@ginandtonicformeplease

🙊 ok I've stepped away from google, you're right Iv got to trust the medical professionals who weren't concerned so I'll try to just relax.

It does feel like a hangover most days doesn't it? Iv not been sick but felt just pretty ropey. I'm happiest in evening on couch with pjs on when nausea is at a minimum. I've gone off all hot drinks.

@gingergnome of course there will be a baby when you have your scan, I did a hpt the day before scan so know how you are feeling Hmm

Beherenow32 · 14/08/2018 14:20

@gingergnome I didn’t have any obvious symptoms until the day of my 7 week scan! So, it is worrying, but I think you could just be too early!

In my bed now, eating a happy meal 🙊🙊

TheArtfulScreamer · 14/08/2018 16:10

@Behere how have you got on with your scan?
Hi newbies and congratulations.
We've just had a lovely weekend away but for the last couple of days I've felt rubbish so I've had a couple of sick days to try and recharge my batteries. It probably hasn't helped that I've had a row with MIL but she will insist on interfering then gets upset when she gets told, really not looking forward to telling her about the IVF and baby.

beanhunter · 14/08/2018 18:10

Catching up after a few days with no internet.
I’m technically 5 weeks tomorrow. Still no symptoms really which I’m anxious about. Haven’t bled though so presumable that’s good? Other anxiety is that I could t get beta and after having used last frer I ended up buying some cheap South African tests (currently here in holiday) and it’s super faint second line. So bow I’m worried. I have managed to find a clear blue digital but stressed that if it doesn’t show 3+ that might cause even more stress. What should I do?

TheArtfulScreamer · 14/08/2018 18:26

I didn't have any symptoms at 5 weeks they've appeared off and on as I've got a little further along. My advice would be to step away from the tests, to many variables can effect the results but I say this as someone who took multiple tests including an additional digital so I could see the weeks indicator move on so I know how hard it is when you're worrying. When is your first scan?

Beherenow32 · 14/08/2018 19:34

Just had my private scan. It was sooo lovely. A proper wee baby wriggling around in there!

@beanhunter I worried about symptoms... and still do! But at 5 weeks I didn’t have much. Was tired... that’s it really. Just give it some time. I didn’t do any more tests after finding out. Xx

beanhunter · 14/08/2018 19:35

Thanks. First scan at 6+2. I think it’s havknv a shitty history of recurrent mc that makes me so anxious. Doesn’t help that we are staying with my BIL and his wife who are 26 weeks pregnant effortlessly at the moment.

Beherenow32 · 14/08/2018 19:43

@beanhunter completely understandable. It’s been a hard journey to get here 💗

TheArtfulScreamer · 14/08/2018 20:37

Pleased you've seen your little jumping bean again behere, I'm avidly awaiting my 12 week scan appt dropping on my door mat.
In the nicest possible way don't you just hate those effortless people, those that'll never know how truly awful TTC DTD can be, I remember coming in from a late shift once and uttering the phrase I aren't messing tonight get yourself good to go, I'll get that fertility lube out, get on and let's get this over with Blush luckily me and my DH managed to keep our sense of humour and could laugh about things like this. But those no denying after episodes like that and the fertility investigations and IVF procedure where I've had more professionals take a look at my bits than all my friends combined have had non professionals get to grips with their bits, I do feel I've earnt my BFP Grin

Beherenow32 · 14/08/2018 21:10

@TheArtfulScreamer I know! It’s so hard to believe that anyone can fall pregnant, any other way then all the stress we have went through!! It’s honestly so worth it though.
You must be close to me... mine is the 29th of August. A little earlier than actual 12 weeks. Xx
