BFP after IVF: any other nervous ladies in need of a handhold?

I've had my BFP after our first FET and in a bit of a state analysing symptoms/lack of symptoms. Had two losses prior to starting IVF so really can't get my head round what might be normal or not. Clinic will scan me at six weeks, but that is two very long weeks away! Anyone else in a similar position? xxx

I’m so gutted. I had a massive bleed last night, big gush of blood & clots. Think that might have been it. Called the clinic emergency number, but no call back as of yet. Feel absolutely drained and devastated.

wombats · 01/04/2018 10:15

Oh decaf, I'm so sorry, what an awful morning. I hope you get a call back soon and they can arrange for a blood test or scan today. Please let us know how you get on xx

Becky, I wouldn't worry about the test too much, they are qualitative rather than quantitative and it is still v early days for you. Do you know why your clinic has you wait one week between bloods? I thought it was usually 48-72 hours apart xx

@wombats I have no idea, the nurse I had was a little difficult. She arranged it for next Friday and said it needs to double every 48 hours and that I need to be at around 1000 on my next blood test! I hope it's the other nurse next week, I like her much better and feel comfortable to ask questions.

@Decafplease I'm so sorry sweetheart, I'm praying it's a false alarm and everything's ok.

Xxxx

Decafplease · 01/04/2018 11:21

Thanks for the kind words wombats and becky. Going in for a scan at 1pm.

Bruges21 · 01/04/2018 11:42

Hi decaf. This must be so worrying for you. I'm glad your clinic has fitted you in for a scan so quickly. I don't want to give you false reassurance but so many IVF ladies seem to have some bleeding early on but still have a healthy pregnancy. I really hope this is the case for you Flowers

lordVoldemort · 01/04/2018 12:02

Hi ladies do you mind if I join? I had a FET in Feb and now 9weeks. I had a bleed at 7 weeks but had an internal scan and everything was okay. I had another internal scan at 8 weeks to check growth and since then had spotting on and off. Got the date for the dating scan through and it's next weekend but I'm so nervous now due to the spotting. I thought the worrying would get better after BFP but it's worse Blush

wombats · 01/04/2018 12:03

Glad they're able to fit you in today, decaf. Sending a hug and a handhold Flowers

Thanks everyone! Good news, there is still an embryo in there! I cried buckets in relief! Might have been the blood thinner i’m taking, or could have lost a twin pregnancy. Not sure. Waiting for a nurse appointment for medication review now. Thanks for all your support. I’m over the moon with releif! Xxx

becky114 · 01/04/2018 13:41

@Decafplease thank heavens your both ok Hun. Xxx

Bruges21 · 01/04/2018 16:45

Fantastic news decaf, you must be so relieved! Hope everything settles down nicely for you now.

Welcome Voldemort, congrats on your BFP.

Decafplease · 01/04/2018 19:11

Thanks becky & bruges. And wombats for the hand hold earlier. Feel so much better. The bleeding has stopped, though now i am scared to move, just in case i set it off again!
Welcome lordvoldemort! Especially after today, I totally agree. This just doesnt seem to get easier.
Hope everyone has had a calmer Easter? wombats your beta is tomorrow right? 🤞
Xxx

DameSylvieKrin · 01/04/2018 19:23

So pleased for you, decaf, sounds like you have a little fighter in there.
Welcome to Becky and Lord Voldemort!
I’m spending the Easter weekend building up how far I can walk for in the hope of going back to work next week (the inflammation from the IVF drugs somehow affected my hip and I’ve barely been able to walk more than five minutes). I’m up to an hour today and no pain so far.

wombats · 01/04/2018 23:11

Decaf, absolutely thrilled with this news! Makes complete sense to rest until you feel confident it's stopped. Did they recommend any change to your medication?

Voldemort, welcome! Yes, every step feels anxiety inducing at this point! Are you using Cyclogest pessaries? I've heard they can cause some spotting. Fingers crossed for your scan next week.

Dame, glad you're feeling a bit better and up and about! Wild what havoc the IVF medications can cause. Had no idea they could affect your joints, must be awful for you!

I'm going for a beta tomorrow. Had some pinching/pulling/bloated feelings on the left, really hope it's not ectopic again. I think I had this before the transfer so hopefully just my bowels.

Sending loads of positive thoughts to all xxx

@wombats good look wombats xxxx

DameSylvieKrin · 02/04/2018 07:52

Apparently the inflammation caused can then affect either the joint or the nerves making it feel like it’s the joint. At least this is the conclusion after seeing 8 different doctors. Whatever it is, it hurts like buggery.
Wombats, good luck for your beta!

lordVoldemort · 02/04/2018 09:04

Yes I am on Cyclogest, I am hoping it is this causing the spotting. It's actually making me feel a bit sore now.

Decaf I am glad everything went well for you.

Wombats good luck for your beta.

79Karen · 02/04/2018 10:59

Hello everyone, and congratulations to everyone who’s joined since I last posted. Decaf what a stressful few days you had, pleased everything looks fine though. I’ve found the last few days very tough, I’m extremely anxious and am over analysing everything. I need to find a way to chill out a bit, I’m only 4+5 today so a long way to go yet

79Karen · 02/04/2018 11:01

Also good luck for your beta today wombats

wombats · 02/04/2018 11:42

Hi all, thanks for the positive thoughts! Had my beta and now the waiting begins, will be before 6pm but no idea when. At least off work with DH and can relax together. Minor symptoms continue in and off, but trying not to overanalyse.

Bruges, rational, Becky, how are you feeling? Bruges, might the spotting be from the scan or the Cyclogest?

Karen, I'm 5+1 so we're practically twins. The waiting is brutal! What is your next step?

DameSylvie, hope the inflammation continues to subside, sounds awful for you.

Sending positive thoughts and happy bank him to all xxx

I'm using Cyclogest, too, but in the back passage. Was told by my clinic that is safe and effective, and I find it easier, less faffing about with the dripping and ruined knickers, also can't irritate the vagina and cervix so no spotting caused. Not sure if anyone with spotting might want to try it that way... x

Me again, beta is back at 3400, I'm thrilled. Booked for scan on Friday, so much nervous anticipation. Hope you're all having a lovely day and warm and dry somewhere xxx

becky114 · 02/04/2018 15:00

@wombats that's amazing? What was your first beta number? Xxx

79Karen · 02/04/2018 16:00

Wow Wombats that’s a great number.

DameSylvieKrin · 02/04/2018 16:19

Congratulations Wombats, I‘m guessing that means it can’t be etopic? Great news!
The pessaries are a complete faff, but I‘m just starting the very last box so I don’t think I’ll experiment with putting them elsewhere! Would have been nice for the clinic to mention it though.
I have one more week until the nuchal fold/NIPT test so hoping that the final week of the first trimester will fly by.

Bruges21 · 02/04/2018 18:06

That sounds a great result wombats! Hope you feel a bit more relaxed now. Do you have a repeat beta or just wait for scan now?

Not long to go now until those tests dame, though sure it still feels like an eternity.

Had lots of AF cramps today but no bleeding so just hoping everything is ok. Got my feet up now and making a start on Easter eggsSmile.
