BFP after IVF: any other nervous ladies in need of a handhold?

I've had my BFP after our first FET and in a bit of a state analysing symptoms/lack of symptoms. Had two losses prior to starting IVF so really can't get my head round what might be normal or not. Clinic will scan me at six weeks, but that is two very long weeks away! Anyone else in a similar position? xxx

Thanks decaf. Bloating and tiredness no fun but hope they are good signs that your embryo growing nicely in there. Put your feet up and crack open the Easter eggs! How long to wait for your scan?

My OTD tomorrow so clinic just said repeat HPT and call them, they don't seem to do blood tests at this stage. So just got to sit tight and hope for best. This is my 4th transfer after 1 CP and 2 BFNs on previous 3.

Decafplease · 29/03/2018 13:47

bruges the same as me! 2BFNs, 1 mmc, this is my 4th try. Its almost 2 years since we started IVF. Really hope this 4th try will work.

TryingToStayRational · 29/03/2018 16:59

Hi everyone, congratulations on successful treatment!

I’ve been lucky enough to get a bfp on my first IVF cycle after 2.5 yrs ttc. Had a slightly shaky start with some brown spotting and a repeat beta needed, but that was ok so am now 5w3d and awaiting a scan at 7wks.

I’ve only had 6 days of officially knowing I’m pregnant so still kind of in shock. But I am so ridiculously fat already. I can’t fit into any of my trousers and have had to buy bigger ones. My boobs are definitely swollen - I can feel the difference when I do my coats up. I weighed myself today and I’ve put on 2.5kg since starting treatment. I haven’t been on a diet but I haven’t been troughing like mad either. Is anyone else feeling like a blimp? 😂 I’m not bothered about how I look, I’m thrilled to be pregnant, but I’m a bit worried from a health perspective about piling pounds on at this early stage!

DameSylvieKrin · 29/03/2018 17:44

Congrats Rational, from one blimp to another. I felt super bloated almost immediately and put on 2 kg but I haven’t put on any more despite the first trimester hunger and being on bedrest for the best part of five weeks. I’m hoping some of the bloating is down to the pessaries.
I now look pregnant but still have to keep it a secret for a few weeks.

becky114 · 29/03/2018 18:48

@TryingToStayRational can I just jump in and say a huge congratulations, I saw your comments when you thought it was negative so I'm genuinely over the moon for you xxx

TryingToStayRational · 29/03/2018 18:54

Thank you Grin

Bruges21 · 29/03/2018 22:26

Congratulations rational! Really hope things go smoothly for you from here.

Decaf so sorry to hear about your previous mc and BFNs. Did you do anything different this cycle? Its been 2 years of IVF for us too. I've found it hard to believe we'll ever get there but let's hope it's 4th time lucky for both of us.

Decafplease · 30/03/2018 09:48

Congrats rational! When is your scan?
bruges hope so! 🤞

wombats · 30/03/2018 10:04

Congrats rational! I've had two losses as well, this is year three of TTC for DH and I.
Dame, I'm massively bloated as well, looked in the mirror and was Shock Not sure if it's progesterone pessaries or my massive appetite...doesn't matter as thrilled to be pregnant!

Currently in limbo, was meant to get a call back from my clinic on next steps but haven't heard anything and they're closed for bank hols! I suppose this means I've got to wait until Tues...? I had an ectopic previously so thought that meant I should have beta and early scan. Been having a funny pinching on my left and occasional cramps, not sure whether should worry or not Confused

Sending warm and positive thoughts to all xx

Good to know there are other blimps out there! Wink

My scan is a week on Mon, when I will (hopefully!) be 7wks

Wombats I hope your 2 weeks flies by. I was told they can’t scan before 6 weeks as they wouldn’t be able to see anything anyway, so it sounds like they have got you in as early as poss. So sorry you’ve had an ectopic before - I can see why that would make you even more anxious.

I’m glad of the distraction of Easter! Seeing friends and doing outdoor stuff will keep me away from googling and overthinking. Today’s random thought was whether it could be twins, as the blastocyst could split. After much googling this seems to be possible but only about 2% chance. Wish my brain would switch off from silly things like this!

becky114 · 30/03/2018 12:29

Hi everyone just jumping in again because I am happy to say that I can officially ask to join you as got my BFP today!!!! It was amazing to see the words pregnant on the test. Although I am over the moon my Hcg is only at 65 which I read online is low? The nurse said I'm supposed to be 4 weeks but the test said 1-2 weeks? The nurse was quite abrupt at my clinic, I was obviously very happy about my BFP but she said that the second line was very faint and that if my Hcg wasn't above 35 it would be a chemical pregnancy, I know she wasn't being awful on purpose but it brought me back to earth with a big bump and now I'm scared to get too excited!!!! I have been trying for just over 3 years, this is my first ever pregnancy 🤰 xxx

TryingToStayRational · 30/03/2018 14:04

Congratulations Becky!

If you did a clearblue test then it shows weeks since conception rather than weeks pregnant. I’m not sure why really! So basically add two weeks on to the clearblue result.

HCG is a funny thing. It varies so much from person to person that it is quite hard to say what is high and what is low. The main thing is that it is supposed to double every 48 hours. Will you have another test to see if it has gone up, or is that it for now? Hope you’re feeling ok Smile

becky114 · 30/03/2018 14:12

@TryingToStayRational I have another blood test next Friday Hun. Obviously I'm over the moon but in all honesty.... I'm exhausted, I feel drained emotionally lol. I don't want to wait anymore. I need to put on my big girl pants because it's not over yet lol 😂

wombats · 30/03/2018 16:05

Congrats Becky, I wouldn't worry about the hcg level now, it is still v early days for you. It's meant to double every two days so it's most important how it changes on Fri.

I'm going for my beta on Monday, on tenterhooks until then and so very hopeful it will be a healthy high number. Will try to enjoy the weekend and not fuss too much. Absolutely knackered now and may nap before dinner, hope this is a good sign. Sending warm and positive thoughts to all xx

OP posts:
TryingToStayRational · 30/03/2018 16:12

I’m hoping knackeredness is a good sign as well as I’m pathetically tired after the mildest exertion! Hang in there - there’s absolutely nothing any of us can do now but wait and hope. The chances are good Smile

mommybear1 · 30/03/2018 17:59

Congratulations OP wishing you every happiness Thanks

Decafplease · 30/03/2018 20:05

Congrats becky. I hope your HCG levels rise at the next reading - as everyone has already said, thats tge best sign! You would think the staff at the clinic would show more empathy! There are a minority at my clinic that I actively avoid as they seem so put upon when i ask questions etc.
I have been feeling all over the place this week - quite emotional, tired & bloated, but that could all be due to progesterone.
wombats good luck for monday’s blood test!

becky114 · 30/03/2018 20:24

Thanks for all you kind messages everyone. Wishing everyone good luck, happiness and good health xxx

Bruges21 · 31/03/2018 10:35

Good luck for your blood tests rational and wombats. As others have said, it's all about the increase rather than your actual starting number so fingers crossed for you.

I got a strong line on clinic HPT yesterday which was OTD and still 2-3 wks on clearblue Digi so hoping this embryo is hanging in there. Scan booked for 23rd April which feels sooooo long to wait. Sore boobs and bloating which comes and goes, also really tired but think that's due to waking up early and stressing!

Hope everyone has got nice plans for the long weekend. Easter Smile

wombats · 31/03/2018 17:47

Thanks girls, hope you all are staying sane and relaxed this weekend.

Bruges, congrats on the solid line. 26th does seem like ages, any idea how you'll stay sane?

I'm in a bit of a state that I haven't felt sick in two days. Googling like mad and seems absolutely normal to have no symptoms at this point but can't help but compare to past two pregnancies (both losses) where I had massively sore boobs. Trying to remind myself I haven't had an IVF pregnancy or a successful pregnancy, so perhaps just different this time round? Will likely POAS in the morning, and if not positive straight away will be prepared for bad news with blood test on Mon.

Sending positive thoughts to all xxx

becky114 · 31/03/2018 18:23

Sending positive thoughts sweetie. I hope that you have different symptoms because it's going to be a successful pregnancy xxxx

becky114 · 01/04/2018 07:19

Morning girls I'm getting a little worried, I did my first pregnancy test on Wednesday and there was a faint line indicative of a possible result, on Friday the line was still faint, today - once again the line is still faint and isn't going any darker. Is this signalling a chemical pregnancy?

Bruges21 · 01/04/2018 07:26

Good luck wombats with your test this morning, hope you get a clear result and will put your mind at rest a little. No idea how to stay calm during this whole process, this bit seems just as bad as 2ww! Just trying to keep busy. You'd think we'd all be experts at waiting and being patient after years of TTC and IVF but I don't think it gets any easier when so much is at stake.

Happy Easter and positive thoughts to everyone x

Bruges21 · 01/04/2018 07:34

Hi Becky, sorry cross posted there. Sorry you're having this uncertainty. I think the line tests are unreliable at showing how pregnant you are. Could you try a digital weeks one? Are you due to have another blood test to check if HCG doubling?

When I had a chemical pregnancy lines were always very faint and never went beyond 1-2wks on digital

This is such a nerve wracking time, good luck x

becky114 · 01/04/2018 07:59

@Bruges21 yes Hun have blood test next Friday and one digital pregnancy test left which I will probably take between next blood test and first scan to ensure still pregnant 🤰 the waiting surely doesn't stop after the 2ww 😂 xxx
