BFP after IVF: any other nervous ladies in need of a handhold?

I've had my BFP after our first FET and in a bit of a state analysing symptoms/lack of symptoms. Had two losses prior to starting IVF so really can't get my head round what might be normal or not. Clinic will scan me at six weeks, but that is two very long weeks away! Anyone else in a similar position? xxx

I too have never heard of vasa praevia before, DameSylvieKrin. Will it mean that you will have a c-section?

Janefx40 I am thinking of booking Harmony test too. Not sure whether to find out the gender of baby so early. Are you going to?

I had the viability scan at the clinic yesterday, at 7+3. They confirmed baby growth is right for dates, and said it was in a "good" place high up in uterus. I have to keep going with the Progynova and Cyclogest to 12 weeks. They said then I just stop. Seems a bit odd to just stop overnight. Also other people seem to be told to stop earlier than 12 weeks. Another difference is that other people seem to have baby's heartbeat monitored at viability scans but ours wasn't monitored at either of the 2 scans I've had so far - just noted that there was a heartbeat.

@1Wanda1 congrats on a great scan ! So pleased for you.

I have to take drugs to 12 weeks because I had a Burserelin trigger shot which means my body can't produce enough progesterone or estrogen. I was also told to stop dead at 12 weeks - I got a second opinion from the EPU (who I trust more than my clinic) and they said that was fine. I may wean myself off anyway!!!

@1Wanda1 I didn't know we could find out the gender!! I'll have to discuss with DP. It is very early to find out (we will definitely find out before birth) but if there is something wrong, I think I would like to know the baby's gender. And if there is nothing wrong then I guess it doesn't matter to know early.

@DameSylvieKrin yes I don't live 20 mins from a hospital! But luckily you do so that's ok.

Clinics are all weirdly different in how long they keep you on progesterone - some take you off straight after a positive test, others right the way to 12 weeks, and others like mine partway in between. The doctor told me that basically there's little evidence that staying on progesterone after the bfp is particularly necessary, but as it doesn't do any harm and lots of women prefer the security of having it, they recommend it. Somewhere between 8 and 12 weeks the placenta will take over producing the hormones, after which you wouldn't need to be taking supplements. I guess if they say 12 weeks, that's the outer limit of how long it would be to be sure that the placenta was now doing it.

Hi ladies,
I hope you don't mind me joining, I've come over from the IVF board with my BFP.
I was one of the naughty ones and tested out trigger so I could wee on anything that resembled a pregnancy test as early as I could.

Ended up with a bfp at 4dp5dt so it feels like ages now even though today was my OTD and my lines have been getting darker each day on frer.
I had beta today and it's come back at 601!! IWow! I'm only 11dp5dt - I was expecting around 200 ish - so I'm happy! (We only had one blast put in)
Has anyone else had these kind of numbers? I know they can vary so much!

Still on progesterone and scan booked in for July 13th. Can't wait!!
Xx

DameSylvieKrin · 21/06/2018 17:54

Windmill, a friend had high numbers and it was twins so...

Yes, Vasa Previa means a planned section around 34 weeks unless something happens earlier. Coincidentally I was born at 34 weeks myself so not too worried about the prematurity.

1Wanda1 · 21/06/2018 18:05

Hi Windmill and congrats on your BFP! Such good news. Re HCG levels, I think the range is quite wide at the early stages. I have a singleton pregnancy and at 13dp5dt my beta was 1,117. On the basis that it's supposed to increase by at least 60% every 48 hours, that would work out to be around the same levels as you're at now (48 hours earlier).

Windmill1828 · 21/06/2018 18:09

@DameSylvieKrin yikes twins! 😁

@1Wanda1 that's good to hear! The nurse who rang me just said I was very pregnant! 😂😂 it was good to hear and totally still hasn't sunk in.
I had ectopic in March so these high beta numbers make me feel so much better!!

Xx

rainylake · 21/06/2018 21:37

Welcome @Windmill1828 and congratulations!

Windmill1828 · 21/06/2018 22:07

Thanks @rainylake it's an absolute pleasure to be here 😁😁 xx

Janefx40 · 21/06/2018 22:15

@Windmill1828 congratulations. Lovely numbers. Welcome to the other side

We had our first abdominal scan - they have to do it as part of the Harmony. Baby has grown as intended and was sitting there happily smoking a cigar (DP thinks it's an arm but it looked like a cigar to me!). Cross everything you have for a good blood result. We have a week to wait x

Barcelo18 · 22/06/2018 08:10

@windmill. Hello and huge congratulations, I wss11dp6dfet and my bloods came bs k at 720. We had two put in but I’m only expecting one and am currently 14 weeks pregnant. I did have some bleeding up until my first scan at 8 weeks so I think this could be why the scan only showed one. My nurse told me it either meant twins or a very strong pregnancy x

Windmill1828 · 22/06/2018 11:38

@Barcelo18 thanks for the welcome! 😊
I'm officially maxed out on the frer now as my line is way darker than the control. Hubby will be pleased to know I'm slowing down on the expensive sticks. I've done 1/2 a day for about ten days now! 😂😂

Janefx40 · 24/06/2018 21:09

How are all you ladies.

I've been feeling cack all day. Hideous headache, nausea and vomiting. So so grateful for every moment I'm pregnant but it's no picnic this is it???

Hope you've all had good weekends!

physicskate · 25/06/2018 08:58

Hi. I'm not really joining this thread (yet), but have a question I hope you don't mind me asking.

So I've been told that trigger shot (ovitrelle 250) can stay in your system until otd. But everyone on the internet who had an early bfp seems to have had an actual bfp and it hasn't been from trigger. So I was essentially wondering how much I should 'trust' this bfp at 5dp5dt (trigger was 12 days ago). I know! I know! I've been very naughty...

DameSylvieKrin · 25/06/2018 10:08

You could look up the half-life of ovitrelle and work it out.
Otherwise I hope the time until official test day passes quickly!

1Wanda1 · 25/06/2018 13:39

Hi Physicskate. I don't know the answer but found this thread about testing out Ovitrelle: https://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/infertility/2580581-Testing-out-HCG-trigger. Seems like you could be cautiously optimistic...

Janefx40 I am also feeling so so nauseous at the moment. It is really horrible not wanting to eat things I normally love. In my last pregnancy this went on till 16 weeks.

Grimbles · 25/06/2018 15:52

Had my scan today. Heartbeat detected, everything as it should be and confirmed as 7+1

Now on to the next set of worries, do I have the harmony or not! Grin Confused

1Wanda1 · 25/06/2018 16:18

That's good news Grimbles. I also can't decide whether to do the Harmony test or not. It's a lot of money. The increased accuracy would be nice though.

Janefx40 · 25/06/2018 18:21

@Grimbles congrats on the scan!! Lovely news. It's a hard wait for that first scan but you survived !!

hoping2018 · 25/06/2018 18:57

Just reading this thread out of interest after my bfp this cycle. @physicskate on my first failed cycle I tested out the trigger shot and it took 10 days from the shot so I was 3dp5dt when it was or of my system. But I expect everyone's different?

This cycle I didn't test it out but believed by bfp on 9dp3dt (especially as all my OHSS symptoms were back) I POAS for about 10 days watching itget darker and darker before I believed it though! Good luck x

Si1ver · 25/06/2018 22:17

@physicskate I got a reliable bfp at 7dp5dt, fingers crossed this is it for you.

physicskate · 26/06/2018 07:35

The line is darker today 6dp5dt... so somethings happening right now. That doesn't mean it'll be happening by Friday... I've had two chemicals previously... so I know this doesn't mean much - just that we're in with a shout still.

Janefx40 · 26/06/2018 08:02

Fingers crossed for you @physicskate really hope it works out well xx

SouthernBella74 · 26/06/2018 16:00

Hi ladies, I hope everyone is doing well. 🌟

@rainylake, I’m still on the Crinone vaginal progesterone until week 14, but off the other 2. And still on Progynova until week 14. I have my Harmony scan on the 2nd and my booking in appointment on the 5th, so it’s all happening!

@DameSylvieKrin, I’m glad they diagnosed the Vasa Previa early enough. I had no idea about this and now it’s another thing for me to worry about!

@Janefx40, I’m right there with you! I was away last week and instead of enjoying the beach, I was in bed trying to sleep through the nausea or having anxiety about what to eat as I didn’t want to be sick! I’m 10w4d today and in the last 36 hours I’ve been sick 3 times! 😩 This baby is really showing me who’s boss!

@1Wanda1, I don’t know if I have the strength to have 6 more weeks of this! 😬

I hope it gets better for all of us soon....🤞

Welcome @Windmill1828 and congratulations! 🤗

Great news, @Grimbles!

Fingers crossed for a strong BFP on Friday, @physicskate

Yorkshirelass27 · 26/06/2018 18:27

Hi ladies,

Hope you are all well. Congratulations windmill and great news about your scan Grimbles. I too had my first scan yesterday and all is well- even got to see the heartbeat. Don't think my brain has processed it all yet!
Did any of you have two embies transferred, which resulted in a single pregnancy? What happens to the other embie? I haven't had any bleeds or anything x
